We ended up here after facing a one-hour wait at Cheesecake Factory at Menlo Park. And the food did the trick. Food was satisfying and well-portioned. Not the best guac or beans I've tried. Stopped by today for happy hour, just so happens to be half off a margarita flight on Wednesdays... got the Elotes for 9$ on HH. Flights were great. Really surprised by the fresh watermelon flavor. I've been to Tios several times before and every time the food is delicious and fresh. Parking at this location is pretty tricky since they share a lot with Tommy's Tavern. You definitely have to circle around a few times to get a spot. When we went on a Tuesday night as a group of 3, although it was busy inside, we were seated immediately. It was busy and loud inside but we still were able to talk and hear each other without yelling. Our server Michael was great and super attentive. He was knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions. Tuesdays are half off on tacos so I decided to order 4 tacos: the chicken tinga, al pastor, chorizo and potato, and the carne asada. I wanted to get 4 different tacos that I've never tried before and this was the perfect option since it was half off. This was an amazing idea because the portion size was huge and everything was so good. I was surprised by how much I liked the chorizo and potato taco because I don't usually get chorizo but I will definitely get it again. Came here on a Friday night with no reservation and was able to snag a seat at the bar (though I recommend making a reservation as it can get packed). Assuming there's a lot of overflow from folks who tried to go to Tommy's down the street but had a long wait time. Service was friendly and prompt! We started off with margaritas which came in fun glasses and a solid bang for your buck. For apps we tried the chicken flautas and the guac (stick with regular, not worth the upcharge for truffle). I got two tacos- the cauliflower and the impossible meat and the portion size was massive! I could barely finish one. I wanted to try something different for a drink and the pomegranate margarita caught my eye on the menu. It did not disappoint!! I usually stay away from flavored margaritas because of the heavy syrup taste but this one used pomegranate liqueur instead of syrup and it was delicious & refreshing. Highly recommend. The elote was also really delicious. The crema and other sauce they add (not sure what it is) paired well together. Always enjoy stopping in after the yearly fly fishing expo that takes place in Edison at the convention center. This has been our 3rd trip here. My wife and I were quickly seated at a nice table by the windows. We chose the queso fundito appetizer to start. It was pretty greasy even though we chose not to add the chorizo to it. We enjoyed some cocktails. We picked the coconut and Cadillac margaritas. Very good , they offer a very extensive tequila selection along with plenty of other options. For our meals my wife chose the carne asada bowl. Very tasty, big portion. I chose the mix and max tacos - chicken tinga , carne asada and the Al pastor. Very good! Very fresh ! We also tried the special dessert of the rum banana chimichangas ! A different twist on a classic Mexican dish. I recommend stopping here if you visit the area. There are 2 taverns next to each other - and hence parking could get crazy .. I went in, not-so-peak time, and hence there was no wait time. I liked the interiors and so many tables to sit n dine. To start with, we ordered some drinks and Guacamole/Chips. Guac was good.. Chips had lemon chilly powder, and was a bit tangy. We then had Rice bowl with beans and it was ok... Too much cheese on the sides.. we liked the bean with Rice. Veggie enchiladas was not good.. TOOOOOO CHEESY.. it was almost like a cheese pizza.... Couldn't eat more than 1/2 pieces.. Portions of food was huge, and 2 people can possibly share one dish.. Price was a little more than few other restaurants. I wish there was less cheese in all dishes.. It's a good spot if you're craving some Mexican food and you're not someone who gets offended when people consider Chipotle Mexican food. I'm a native East Coaster so almost anywhere with burritos and margaritas are a good move. The atmosphere was average. Lots of seating options and the tables were clean, but the decor wasn't anything remarkable. The service was great though. Our waitress was very attentive and the managers came out to each table to check on everyone too. I also love a place that gives you free refills for non alcoholic drinks.
