I've been to Tios several times before and every time the food is delicious and fresh. Parking at this location is pretty tricky since they share a lot with Tommy's Tavern. You definitely have to circle around a few times to get a spot. When we went on a Tuesday night as a group of 3, although it was busy inside, we were seated immediately. It was busy and loud inside but we still were able to talk and hear each other without yelling. Our server Michael was great and super attentive. He was knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions. Tuesdays are half off on tacos so I decided to order 4 tacos: the chicken tinga, al pastor, chorizo and potato, and the carne asada. I wanted to get 4 different tacos that I've never tried before and this was the perfect option since it was half off. This was an amazing idea because the portion size was huge and everything was so good. I was surprised by how much I liked the chorizo and potato taco because I don't usually get chorizo but I will definitely get it again. Came here on a Friday night with no reservation and was able to snag a seat at the bar (though I recommend making a reservation as it can get packed). Assuming there's a lot of overflow from folks who tried to go to Tommy's down the street but had a long wait time. Service was friendly and prompt! We started off with margaritas which came in fun glasses and a solid bang for your buck. For apps we tried the chicken flautas and the guac (stick with regular, not worth the upcharge for truffle). I got two tacos- the cauliflower and the impossible meat and the portion size was massive! I could barely finish one. The place has a fun, vibrant vibe with cute decor that sets the mood. We ordered a pitcher of passionfruit margarita ($38), and let me tell you--it did not skimp on the tequila. You get three large well filled beef empanadas with a tasty sauce on the side or it comes drizzled on top. The ground beef had zero flavor it was straight up bland. Always enjoy stopping in after the yearly fly fishing expo that takes place in Edison at the convention center. This has been our 3rd trip here. My wife and I were quickly seated at a nice table by the windows. We chose the queso fundito appetizer to start. It was pretty greasy even though we chose not to add the chorizo to it. We enjoyed some cocktails. We picked the coconut and Cadillac margaritas. Very good , they offer a very extensive tequila selection along with plenty of other options. For our meals my wife chose the carne asada bowl. Very tasty, big portion. I chose the mix and max tacos - chicken tinga , carne asada and the Al pastor. Very good! Very fresh ! We also tried the special dessert of the rum banana chimichangas ! A different twist on a classic Mexican dish. I recommend stopping here if you visit the area. Came for drinks and apps with a friend on a Saturday evening and it was super packed. Hour wait for a table so we sat at the bar. I wanted to try something different for a drink and the pomegranate margarita caught my eye on the menu. It did not disappoint!! I usually stay away from flavored margaritas because of the heavy syrup taste but this one used pomegranate liqueur instead of syrup and it was delicious & refreshing. Highly recommend. The elote was also really delicious. The crema and other sauce they add (not sure what it is) paired well together. Now for the nachos...they had potential..because the chicken was really tender and good. But these were the driest nachos I've ever had. I had to order a side of queso and it was still very dry. To start with, we ordered some drinks and Guacamole/Chips. Guac was good.. Chips had lemon chilly powder, and was a bit tangy. We then had Rice bowl with beans and it was ok... Too much cheese on the sides.. we liked the bean with Rice. Veggie enchiladas was not good.. TOOOOOO CHEESY.. it was almost like a cheese pizza.... Couldn't eat more than 1/2 pieces.. My daughter got the chicken tenders and fries, with a Shirley Temple. I ordered the Cadillac Margarita, Truffle Guac and a shrimp quesadilla. The margarita was nice and strong. Definitely worth the price. One of those bad boys is more than enough. The guac was awesome too, just as I remembered. Lots of flavors, spices, cotija cheese and corn. Perfection. My quesadilla was super disappointing tho. It would have tasted great, except for the thick layer of crust on the outside. I don't know if someone let it sit in the pan too long, or the restaurant needs to change up the cooking spray the use, but it was a layer to thick, I could t even scrape it off with my fork or knife. And whenever I tried, it broke the sides of the quesadilla, so I gave up and ate it as is. For $17, the chef should have looked at that and known it wasn't acceptable. Stopped by Tio's before trying out the new SuperCharged location in Edison. It's a good spot if you're craving some Mexican food and you're not someone who gets offended when people consider Chipotle Mexican food. I'm a native East Coaster so almost anywhere with burritos and margaritas are a good move. The atmosphere was average. Lots of seating options and the tables were clean, but the decor wasn't anything remarkable. The service was great though. Our waitress was very attentive and the managers came out to each table to check on everyone too. I also love a place that gives you free refills for non alcoholic drinks. We tried the carne asada fries, the short rib sopes (special), and the barbacoa burrito bowl. Everything was good - not the best I've ever had but still hit the spot.
