Attended a catered event, and the atmosphere, attentive wait staff and food delivered to the table, was better than other restaurants offering a buffet style service. Lassoni located on Ridge Road in North Arlington is the old home of the Jade Fountain for those who are longtime residents. This is the first time eating there and the interior was festive with holiday decorations and they have rooms for private parties. The staff is professional and aims to please as they do have daily specials. Both myself and my father had the Shrimp Ravioli special and the Mozzarella and Prosciutto with cherry tomatoes and the Carrot Cake. We both had coffee and bottled water and Iced Tea. This is a well supported local establishment as the place was fairly full for a Monday evening, but there were many large parties during this holiday season. The food is fine, and because I have never dined here before I probably should have gotten something different. The service was excellent, but the food was a bit underwhelming. I would return, but probably order something from the main menu v being lazy. My understanding is that the place has been open a decade, so they have a strong following. Saturday night and we were in mood for Italian. Parking is fairly easy with a lot around the back of the restaurant. Everyone there was excellent. Couldn't have asked for better service. We started off with the fried calamari, caprese, burrata and the brushetta. The caprese was refreshing. Mozzarella and tomatoes were fresh. Roasted peppers on top were the perfect size. The calamari was a little chewy to me, the burrata could've been creamier and the variation of the brushetta wasn't my style. I like mine with just tomatoes, garlic, and basil. There was just a little unnecessary extra to it. For dinner, I got the chicken parm. It was EXCELLENT. Didn't even need a knife. You could cut it with your fork. Sauce was very good and the cheese was excellent quality. For dessert, I went with the ricotta cheesecake. Desserts were homemade. Cheesecake was creamy with ricotta mixed into the cake. Appetizers fell short in my opinion, but the main course and dessert brought the meal back strong. read more

Our go to Italian restaurant for any occasion. We have been many times since moving to the area a year ago. They have a retail priced wine special on Mon and Tues which we have taken advantage of multiple times. We love them so much that we recently used them for our daughter's Baptism. We sat for about 45 minutes asked for bread twice. Then we asked about a glass of wine a d we were informed only sangria was included. Myself and another woman said ok please bring it out. His reply was " not until more people get here" what the hell is that?! The Calamari was good as was the pasta . I did not like the taste of the clams at all and the eggplant rollatini did not look appetizing at all. Just a mess on a plate. It's an average place, it's in my town so been there twice. I didn't really feel the food. Service was ok. The food made me prefer to eat at home for much less. We were there as a group so we got to taste a few plates. It's average, which is why I give 3 stars. Would I go back? First, we've been here quite a few times. We've had Mother's Day dinner, Confirmation celebration, Birthday Dinners, Anniversary Dinners, and just plain get out of the house dinner! When you're in an Italian restaurant, and your server admits they had no idea what Risotto was, is pretty sad! Our cocktails were mixed up- my husband wound up w my gin martini, and I got his vodka! Poor guy, he HATES gin! Mine had olives and his had a twist, so, that should NOT have happened! We wound up getting the check instead of coffee when the servers and staff were just hanging around talking loudly in Spanish, looking at the patrons. No thank you.... Will we go back? To hang in the bar area, definitely, because it's a totally different, great atmosphere in there. You don't get ignored, or treated like a second-class citizen, and you still can enjoy fabulous food! The service, bar and food at Lassoni - all very good. It was a busy Saturday night and our party of eight enjoyed well made cocktails, well timed appetizers and entrees, and great desserts. We started with sharing the stuffed pepper, cold octopus salad, polenta and fried calamari appetizers. The stuffed pepper was great - most memorable of the four but all were terrific. For entrees, Steak, Grilled Double-Cut Veal Choo, a special for the evening, Veal Amelia, a Grilled Pork Chop smothered in sausage, onion, peppers, potatoes and mushrooms was amazing, and the Bronzino, Shrimp Risotto and Gnocchi - all excellent! For dessert - try their gelato! Hazelnut, Pistachio, Baccio, are great! A huge selection of other choices too! Only reason for not awarding five stars - their dining area can get very loud. Our table had to hear our waiter recite the evening specials twice - 1st on one side of our table, then on the other. Not sure they can do anything about it but it can get noticeably loud! I thought there was too much sauce on the pasta. Could've been flavored a little better for an Italian restaurant. I was very surprised at the bill. There were things that were on my bill that weren't even ordered. Whoever was in charge, a young guy who was the manager claimed to be the owner wanted to argue, and I told him that the items were never sent to my table know where they ordered . I've been here twice and both times I stumbled upon the early bird dinner menu and I feel like I just can't go back now. It's such a great deal. You get an appetizer, entree and dessert for 16 bucks. I was also tucked in bed by 9pm that night. Senior citizen alert. When you think of a prix fixed menu like that you almost automatically think the options aren't gonna be that great. Not here! There's tons to choose from and I personally recommend any seafood appetizer or a salad because they are huge and delicious. I went with a tomato mozzarella app this time and the mozzarella was fresh and perfect. The balsamic glaze was really nice too. As an entree I decided on grilled chicken in vodka sauce over pasta. The past was perfectly perfectly al dente. Couldn't get enough of it, but the portion was huge! I ended up taking half home. I mean can you beat it, really? 16 bucks and you get like 3 meals. Dessert! You get a few options of cake, sorbet or ice cream. I went with the cheesecake and it was super delicious. Really rich and creamy which is how I like my cheesecake. Also comes with coffee or tea. You can upgrade to a cappuccino for just a dollar more. It's almost too good to be true. Now I sound like an infomercial. Honestly, it's so worth the price. The restaurant itself is dimly lit and has a nice ambience as soon as you walk in. All the servers were very nice, we had the pleasure of having Ali take care of us and she was a delight. There's a parking lot in the back of the restaurant. The entrance is very small and on the side of the building. The prices are really good for lunch. The food is above average for the price. The decor is old fashioned but is okay. Only negative the dining room was a bit on the cold side both times we went. We went both times as soon as it opened. I ordered the rigatoni vodka very tasty and the soup was well done and also the clams were good as well. I've eaten here many times and the food and service is always top notch. This weekend my family had a Repast there. Very disappointed in some aspects of the day. We were suppose to start at 12 but the cooks were late and didn't start until 1. The mussels were very fishy and you could tell they were old. They forgot the Fried Calamari and argued with me that it wasn't selected and then told me I was right and compensated us for it which I appreciated. The Caprese and Rice Balls were served but not enough for everyone at the table. The Pasta Vodka was good. The main dishes were good I didn't hear any complaints. Prices are reasonable including the wine list which is well priced with a diverse selection. Appetizers Octopus salad- was a special, generous portion and octopus was tender Clams oreganato -very good Oysters-fresh Entrees Veal Osso buco over risotto- veal was good but rice was not risotto and slightly under cooked Ravioli of the day- good but lacked salt Gnocchi- they were cut very big (unusual for gnocchi) and also needed salt Dessert Key lime pie-good Napoleon - just ok The food had some hits and some misses but based on the portions/prices I would say Lassoni is good overall and worth a visit. read more
