So happy to be back! We've definitely missed having a great local Colombian spot. The service was excellent, the ambience was inviting, and the nightly entertainment was on point. Everything came together perfectly for a great family night out. Highly recommend!

Ceviche de Pescado y Camarón / Fish and Shrimp Ceviche

I didn't care for their ceviche. Too much mango to fish ratio. Needed salt and more lemon juice. The cuts were uneven. I also had an upset stomach after eating this. Not sure how fresh the seafood was.

It was my first time going there my friend suggested it we were looking for a place to have dinner so she suggested that place and we call 30 minutes of the happy hour which was good we had appetizers. The place was very big. The ambience was nice. The food was good. The drinks was good. The server was good as well

Fish that was cold and tasteless.

First of all this place is too big and disorganized. We went there as a party of 7 and all ordered our food and drinks. Our drinks came and we waited at least 30 minutes or more for our food. My fish came but had no flavor and was cold. The waitress never came back around to see if we needed additional drinks or water. Someone in the group order Tostones with some kind of meat on them by the time they got to the table they were soggy. There were items we ordered that were not bought to the table but they intended on charging us if we hadn't paid attention. This place has lost its charm. It use to be better years ago. Expanding too quick and not paying attention to detail. There are other places around that are better for Colombian food.

Mar y Tierra Salteado / Sautéed Surf & Turf

Atmosphere is great large place. Servers are always very nice. What can I say about the food it is my wife and I favorite Latin place amazing. Every time I have been there they have not disappointed. Love it !!!!

Should rename the entree Fat Saltado - A dish featuring grilled or sautéed meat with vegetables like tomatoes, onions, and greens, served alongside rice and plantains.

The worst lomo saltado ever. 2 orders of it and both plates were filled with the fattiest cuts of meat ever. We showed the waitress who brought the manager over and he insisted this is how the dish is meant to be prepared and it is NY cuts of meat and he knows best because he is from Colombia. I was appalled by the attitude and lack of understanding to the point he wanted to aggressively defend the dishes. Sorry but never again. I will try to post photos but definitely do not recommend unless you enjoy chewing on grizzle.

I am truly surprised by the 3.2 star rating as I found Noches in Hackensack to be very well Tun offering amazing food. I learned about their parking lot after the fact - nice bonus! The restaurant had a lot of people buzzing around and the live music added another level of entertainment without disrupting table conversation. On a busy Friday night we were seated promptly despite not having a reservation. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and checked in on us throughout the evening. We ordered pan de bono as a sweet appetizer - always hits the spot. For the main entrees, we ordered the Pollo a la Colombiana , Pollo Saltado, and Arroz con pollo. All dishes were large and full of flavor though I did think their ratios in the arroz con pollo were a little off compared to other locations. For dessert, we got the pan de bono waffle and the bread pudding. Can't go wrong with either but the pan de bono waffle was unique - recommend ordering that one!

PROs- food , service , ambience , price , parking CONs- actually nothing .. Wow . It's been a while since I reviewed a restaurant without a CON/ disadvantage . This place had it all.. I have visited other locations of Noches but this one was super special. We went on a weekday afternoon ... restaurant was huge with so many tables to sit/dine . They also have outdoor seating . They have a very good bar inside . Service was very good .. Just take a note that they have some lunch specials - they hid it in the last page of the menu .. first few pages has full lunch and when we saw lunch specials we were super ecstatic! About 12$ for a meal was amazing . They give salad , sweet banana fritters, rice/bean, and then the main dish - chicken/ fish etc ! Loved this restaurant overall.. 5 stars

Recently had dinner at Noches de Colombia and it was a great experience. We were seated right away and immediately noticed their renovations since my last visit. The new bakery section looked really nice and everything looked so delicious! It was a Friday night so there was some live entertainment. We started with an appetizer of the sharing picadita which included mini empanadas, sausage slices, chicharon pieces, and yuca fries with various dipping sauces. So yummy! And then for my entree I had ordered the paisita which is a smaller version of the popular Colombian dish of the bandeja paisa. The meal includes skirt steak, sausage, crunchy chicharon, egg, white rice, avocado, side of beans, and maduros. My fave dish and even for a mini-- there was still so much food! We definitely enjoyed our meal and service was great!

Thangs! - A glass display case shows Colombian food items including empanadas, chicharrón, and sausages, with labels in Spanish.

Have picked food to go from here multiple times already. My mom and I decided to stop in and dine in for a late lunch/early dinner. They have a large dining room and the staff is extremely friendly. I had the bandeja paisa and everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The pork belly was both meaty and crunchy without being greasy. Same treatment for the chorizo. Very happy with our meals and would recommend for sure. ENJOY!!!

It was my first time here. We came for dinner without a reservation and we're seated immediately. This restaurant has a cozy family feel to it. The ambiance is inviting with amazing paintings that make you feel like you're in Colombia. They have a little stage set up for live music. When we were there they did not, but the music playing was perfect. We had actually came here after another location had their music way to loud for any of us to hear each other and the inside was way too dark. So this location was a breath of fresh air for us. The pictures on the menu look like small portions, but I was shocked with how generous the portions were. Entrees come with 2 choices of sides. The sides include arroz, Maduro, fritas, papas, frijoles and yuca. I chose the noches paella with double Maduro because who doesn't like sweet plantains? One word: WOW! There were generous amounts of seafood in my paella and the portion was so big I had enough for dinner and took some home for breakfast the next morning. Drinks between the four of us we each tried I different flavor of limonada. I got the coconut and the flavor was really rich and delicious! The service was also amazing! The whole experience was great and will definitely be back

Yay another Noches location closer to my home. The added bonus of free parking in busy downtown Hackensack in the lot behind the restaurant. Very large interior to the restaurant. With plenty of outdoor seating with a nice covered awning. Stopped in for a quick lunch on a Saturday and you are never disappointed by a noches. I have to say out of all the locations I've been to food and flavor is very consistent. Our server was friendly and helpful. Our drinks and appetizer came out very quickly which was great because we were starving. Our main dishes also came out pretty fast. Our second round of drinks took a bit but nothing to complain about. A great addition to the restaurants in the downtown Hackensack area.

I had to feed some friends and family after my mother's interment. This place was recommended to us and it delivered! Food was nice and tasty. The meet platter I got was full of meat that was cooked properly and had a delicious flavor. Cerviche was awesome as well. I let everyone order what they want and no one complained. Drinks by the way were string and yum. Service was perfect considering there were at least 20+ people in attendance. Ambiance was dark but had them turn some lights on to make it more cheerful and fun. I highly recommend this place. It is a shame it is in NJ and I live here in CA.

I can't believe I'm just visiting this place!! LOVE good Colombian food and this one hits it right…read moreon the nail (is that even a phrase)? Anyway, came here on a weekday afternoon and wasn't busy at all- that's not to say that the food/bakery wasn't good. It was AMAZING. I got the lunch special which was chicken soup with breaded filet, salad and rice for $12.99. WHAT! And that portion was BIG as you can see from the pictures. Our server was attentive and got us whatever we needed almost right away! My breaded filet came out delicious. Perfect amount of crispy where it's not overdone and it wasn't drenched in any sauce that made the filet soggy. The house salad was simple yet flavorful and that chicken noodle soup was SO hearty that I wanted to go in the kitchen and scoop myself more. The place is big and bright and clean. Bakery on one side of the restaurant for quick take out and restaurant to the right. There's street parking but there's also parking in the back where the giant farmer market is, but it can be a busy lot. I came back here again with my husband another day and had another lunch special which was grilled chicken with mushroom sauce and my husband had a 16oz churrasco, all cooked to perfection. We got some bakery goods to go and we can't wait to have them later. Highly recommend this place!!

The menu is diner-deep, but nearly every dish is accompanied with a photo. As newcomers, we found this especially helpful. The fried calamari are fantastic. Hot, freshly fried, and perfectly tender. My husband, who is particular about those tentacle pieces, was delighted to see half our plate covered with them. Since we were at a Columbian restaurant, we wanted to try something authentic but felt too shy to ask around, so we went with something from the specials section called 'chicken with Columbian mushroom sauce'. Wowza was that good. I have no idea how true to the culture it was, but that cream sauce was something else. We dragged everything we could through the last droplets, unwilling to see it wasted. The specials also come with rice, choice of salad or soup, choice of beans, and fried plantains. It's a generous serving size, so much that one shared entree, plus an appetizer and salad, was more than enough food for us. All servers are equipped with ear pieces to directly communicate with staff and the kitchen. It seemed a little overkill at first...until we found out how efficiently the service was as a result. While ordering an entree, for instance, our server was able to quickly chat with the back staff to check if there was any soup left. When we were done with our meal, a busser was able to quickly flag down our server for the check. And when there was a massive crash and spill at a nearby table because some kid chucked his water glass, three people descended upon the mess in - no joke - under ten seconds because of this radio. It's a frighteningly efficient system, and it meant we hardly ever needed to wait for anything. While we didn't get to try anything from the drink or desserts menu this visit, know that the selection is tantalizing. We vowed to return for the margarita flights and the pastries on display at the in-house bakery.

We ordered the mini tipica (grilled steak, pork rind, rice, beans, fried egg, sweet plantain and avocado, chorizo) and it was fair; the steak was too chewy but everything else was fine. It didn't feel like an $18 meal though and definitely have had better. Seems like a pretty casual atmosphere inside. There's an additional credit card charge so pay cash to save that 3%.

A Concerned Review of Pollos Mario…read more For years, my spouse and I have been loyal customers of Pollos Mario in Hackensack, NJ. We have enjoyed many meals here, from breakfast to lunch and dinner, supporting this establishment through economic ups and downs, a pandemic, and an influx of competition on Main Street. As one of the original Colombian restaurants in Hackensack, we have always hoped for the best for them, but recent experiences have left us concerned. While the food remains fresh and flavorful, Pollos Mario is no longer the only player in the game. With eight Colombian restaurants now within walking distance, the landscape has changed significantly. Recently, we found ourselves paying $32 for breakfast, which feels exorbitant. Reflecting on our past visits, it's evident that the portion sizes have shrunk considerably since pre-pandemic times. The arepa con queso, which used to cover the plate, now barely touches the edges. Both my spouse and I ordered Huevos Revueltos, priced at $13.90 each, which included scrambled eggs, a homemade potato, and corn cake with cheese. My spouse enjoyed a hot chocolate or coffee with their meal, while I was charged separately for my Aguapanela con Limón, a sugarcane lime drink that, upon receiving the bill, we discovered was not included with the breakfast and added an unexpected $5 charge for a tiny glass. This feels disproportionate for what is essentially a simple beverage. I understand that economic uncertainty is impacting many businesses, and restaurants need to find ways to stay afloat. However, the experience cannot come at the cost of customer satisfaction. It's disheartening that we now visit Pollos Mario only once or twice a month, down from two or three times a week. Price increases, smaller portions, and additional charges are not conducive to fostering loyalty among customers. I hope the owners take this feedback into consideration. We all want to see Pollos Mario thrive, but it's important to create an enjoyable experience without pricing customers out.
