Waitress, Flor, was AMAZING. She was attentive & accurately successful, there wasn't a SINGLE error. Arroz Chaufa hits THE SPOT. It's got a piece of several kinds of seafood in every single bite. If you enjoy seafood, YOU CANNOT GO WRONG HERE. Pescado a la Macho is v savory, not an overdose of salt, gets better bite after bite kinda meal you didn't know you needed. PLENTY to fill you up AND to take home the leftovers. Sopa de mariscos - I only had a taste of it, but that taste was EXQUISITE.

Amazing seafood dishes, great service and consistent quality. The ambiance is not fancy,, parking is limited and weekends are extremely busy. Flor is the best waitress!

One of the best foods in my hometown I've been going there since I was a kid with my parents and now I take my kids! Love everything from here

This is an Ecuadorian/Peruvian restaurant so when I ordered the Lomo Saltado I was expecting the traditional Peruvian way, but it was not. It had the thin fries and the seasoning was different, it wasn't bad it was just different. However, they serve big portions my boyfriend and I were unable to fish our dishes. The avocado salad was tasty and the carrot juice was very good.

2 orders of pollo milanesa with salad on the side. The two other sides were maduros and tostones

I absolutely LOVE the food here. Well, I always order the same thing lol but my friends have all liked their dishes as well. I order the pollo milanesa with a salad and maduros. The avocado salad is also AMAZING. I always order that extra because it cannot be a side included with the food. Their food is good and they bring out the food in a timely manner. When you walk in you can choose where you want to sit unless they're really busy or you have a large party. I will definitely be visiting here again! I would recommend anyone in the area seeking good Spanish food to give this restaurant a try.

Great food. Don't expect a luxurious dining experience. Go, sit down and order. Pretty much everything is great tasting.

This one is for the brave ones...with cars. Sometimes someone recommends a place for to you to eat. It's authentic, delicious, and extremely inexpensive, but it's not in any major city or easy to get to by public transportation. You wonder if it's worth the trip, but have a feeling in your stomach that once you get there, it's damn well worth it. Venus fits the bill. A no nonsense authentic Hispanic restaurant, Venus provides huge portions enough to share with friends and family (I recommend the rice and crab legs, see photo). It may look like it's in a dicey area, but believe me everyone there comes to sit, relax, eat, and relax some more...you get the itis (look it up on Wikipedia) after a few spoonfuls. And make sure to wash it down with Latin American soda like Manzania or Tropical. Much better than anything Pepsi or Coke can come up with.

We were greeted and said we could sit anywhere and told no yellow rice and chorizo. Except for decor a mural of Old San Juan nothing authentic but we are here for the food. Ordered chorizo and maduros Empanadas appetizer tripeleta sandwich with side of tostones. Wife had Mofongo with shrimp. Empanada was really good never had that combo before so good start. Triplelta is steak pork and chicken and super soft hero/pan bread. Nice flavor tostones were big and were accompanied by a garlic white sauce. I like just ajo in oil which they did not have. Wifes mofongo was a little salty as were the jumbo shrimp in white sauce. She did receive a wonderful citrus dressing which she used on the little salad which she loved. We took most of it home since we were not looking to fill up prior to the casino. Saw a few people order takeout not sure if that makes up a large part of business or not. My wife and I have been in hospitality for 30 years and if you see a new face wouldn't you want to welcome them and thank them for trying out the restaurant? I think so. Not sure if it was owner or manager but he spoke to the one other table throughout our meal. I think he missed an opportunity to talk with us about our experience. Waitress spoke only English which is stark contrast to every Spanish restaurant in Brooklyn where we lived for 30 years. My wife is Puerto Rican so she was looking for that connection to no avail. So to close the food was decent but not sure I would make the trip back. We will keep trying til we find a real Spanish restaurant.

These had a lack of that, The alcapuras were nice and crispy and had flavor, but one seasoning used was unfamiliar, and they didn't need to add it. As per my sofito burger that had avocado, fried cheese, some sort of aioli really wasn't a marriage for me. It did not all go together. The ground meat was too thick and bland. I guess if you're starving, it'll taste good. Yuca fries were thick and hard. My husband's entree was better tasting but wasn't hot. The parcha juice was a 10/10.

It's a very casual, cafeteria-style spot with a semi-open kitchen, but don't let the simplicity fool you -- the food is incredible and the staff here is friendly and patient. The highlight of the experience is the small buffet that features a variety of freshly-made Latin cuisine -- including pulled pork, chicken and beef stews, and other traditional Latin entrees and sides. You can build your own plate by selecting one or more entrees and sides - which are priced accordingly. As a 'gringo' who wasn't entirely sure what everything was, I really appreciated them taking the extra time to explain all the different options and give me their honest recommendations. The counterstaff is bilingual and were pretty patient with my elementary school level Spanish vocabulary and grammar. I ended up going with the pulled pork platter with two sides ($7) and it was terrific -- the perfectly seasoned and tender pork, black beans and rice, and macaroni salad were delicious and very filling. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the portions are very generous for the price. If you're looking for authentic, home-style Latino food in a laid-back setting, this is the spot! PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home to enjoy with your meal. Sazon Latino is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Sazon Latino offers free off-street parking in a small lot behind the restaurant and there's plenty of free on-street parking on Main Street.

I immediately brought the issue to the waiter's attention, yet no one from management came over to speak with me or apologize for what happened. What was even more disappointing was that I was not offered another meal or given the opportunity to order something else. When a customer is served food that is clearly unacceptable, I would expect management to take the situation seriously, check on the customer, apologize, and make an effort to correct it. Unfortunately, none of that happened. The food itself was bad enough, but the lack of concern and customer service afterward made the experience even worse. I expected much more from this restaurant.

The only thing I don't understand is why they miked the guitar in a smallish restaurant so Smartwatches kept flashed "louder than 90dB" warnings. It really wasn't necessary. But you go to a restaurant for the food. And my food was a 2 with the wind behind it. I had the Chicken Extremena, which is chicken filets with onions, red peppers, potatoes and Spanish sausage. Yes, all those ingredients were in the dish. It was too salty although it did have a bit of a kick. All in all, the ingredients didn't blend well, it sort of seemed like they were thrown together and doused in a generic . A friend had the Veal Corunesa, which is veal and mushrooms sauteed in brandy sauce. She stated that a fine piece of veal was cut into little pieces, overcooked and swimming in brandy sauce. Now, the people who ordered the pan fried filet of fish and the pork chops had good meals. But the chef should be able to do something other than panfry and broil. Last point, I had a chocolate brownie with walnuts and vanilla ice cream for dessert. I am know for my proclivity to eat anything chocolate. I took a bite of a dry brownie and ate the vanilla ice cream. I heard the tiramisu was good. But I didn't have the tiramisa. Service was prompt, surroundings pleasant. So here's the deal. The quality of the food was too erratic to be three stars. The entertainment was very pleasant, so averaging a 4 + 2 equals 3. I have no desire to go back and try again. There are so many good Spanish restaurants in Essex County even outside of the Ironbound that going here for a dinner just seems to be a waste.
