I recently visited Santa Brava with my wife and our in-laws, and once again we had an absolutely wonderful dining experience. We ordered three lomo saltado dishes (delicious, perfectly cooked), and my wife had the seafood soup, which was rich, flavorful and comforting. Each dish was served hot, fresh, and full of flavor -- clearly prepared with care. The service was friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The portion sizes were generous, and for the quality and taste we felt it was excellent value. The ambiance was relaxed and pleasant -- ideal for a family meal. This was our third time in under four months, and the quality has been consistently top-notch every single time. They've proven they can deliver excellent food and service over multiple visits -- no drop in standards. If you're looking for a place with great Peruvian/Latin food in Clifton NJ, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere, I highly recommend Santa Brava. We'll be back again soon! read more

The oriental rice is great. The chicken is the driest we've ever had. Almost choked. Had to throw it all out. The dogs wouldn't even eat it. Also, their menu is in spanish with no translation. kind of a pain. read more

My go to spot in New Jersey. I absolutely love the Yucca a la Huancaina, the homemade Chicha pitcher is way better than the bottled. The service is always welcoming & kind. The miniatures decor on the wall is very charming. read more

Lamentablemente, tengo que dejar esta reseña negativa después de una experiencia muy decepcionante en Santa Brasa en Clifton, New Jersey. Sin embargo, después de lo ocurrido en mi última visita, no volveré jamás. La comida está bien por lo que es, pero lo que me hicieron fue un robo total. Mi madre ordenó el "Pescado a lo Macho", que en el menú está listado a $28. La mesera preguntó si quería corvina o pargo rojo, y mi madre eligió corvina. En ningún momento se nos informó que esta elección aumentaría el precio del plato de manera exorbitante. Cuando llegó la cuenta, el plato fue cobrado a $68, más del doble del precio listado. Al pedir una explicación, la mesera insistió en que nos lo había dicho, lo cual es completamente falso. Nunca mencionó el cambio de precio ni aparece indicado en el menú. Es inaceptable que un negocio engañe así a sus clientes. Esta táctica poco ética demuestra una clara avaricia, y me entristece mucho que un restaurante que solía disfrutar haya optado por este tipo de prácticas. I've been a loyal customer since they opened, visiting every two weeks because I truly enjoy Peruvian food. But after what happened during my last visit, I will never return. The food is decent for what it is, but what they did to us was a complete rip-off. My mother ordered the "Pescado a lo Macho," which was listed on the menu for $28. The waitress asked if she wanted corvina or red snapper, and my mother chose corvina. At no point were we informed that this would drastically raise the price. When the bill came, the dish was charged at $68, more than double the listed price. When I asked the waitress if it was a mistake, she insisted it wasn't and falsely claimed she had informed us--something that absolutely did not happen. It is completely unacceptable for a business to mislead its customers this way. This kind of shady tactic shows nothing but greed. I've paid less at five-star restaurants than what we were charged here for a single fish. This was a blatant lack of transparency and a complete disregard for customer trust. Disappointed by the Service and Extra Charges I really wanted to like this place, but my recent experience left me disappointed--especially with the service and how a simple issue was handled. I placed an Uber Eats order and specifically requested a large hot sauce (the green sauce), which I was charged nearly $5 for. Instead, I only received the regular small portion that comes with the meal. I called the restaurant to let them know, and they confirmed the sauce wasn't included and told me I could come pick it up. When I arrived, two women at the front gave me puzzled looks and seemed completely uninterested in helping. They insisted the sauce was in the order, even though I had just spoken to someone who said otherwise. The energy was cold and unwelcoming--no effort to fix the issue, no apology, just confusion and resistance. I understand mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability and customer service was frustrating--especially after going out of my way to drive back for something I had already paid extra for. For a small request, it became a bigger hassle than it ever should have been. The food may be decent, but the customer service needs serious improvement. I love Peruvian food so the bar is always high when trying a new place. We had the Causa de pollo to start. It's served with two sauces, the yellow one is earthy/savory and the green sauce has a kick! We also ordered half a pitcher of Chicha morada (sweet purple corn drink). A lot of places add too much sugar to this drink, but this one was perfect. For an entree my partner ordered tallarines verde (pesto pasta) with steak. It was a huge portion, so much so that he had leftovers to go. I ordered the ceviche mixto. The seafood tasted so fresh and did I mention the portions are huge? I really enjoyed our dining experience. Things to know: A 15% tip is included (the service is amazing, they deserve more) They charge for to go containers but it's fifty cents. The place is decorated with beautiful Peruvian art and woodwork. read more

Imagine a region which has (amongst other things) 50 varieties of corn, 50 varieties of chilis, and almost 5000 varieties of potatoes. A region that recorded zero (yes, the number zero), a few years after it was first recorded in Mesopotamia, and centuries before it was recorded in India. A region which has two very unique (as in genius) units of measurements (used in construction). Now, imagine the food from that region made with that mind. Let me guess, you are probably thinking of Peruvian food. At one point the best Dim Sum in NYC was Peruvian (Chinese) Dim Sum. The best Sushi was Peruvian (Japanese) Sushi. So where can you try a range of above par Peruvian food in NJ ? If you like decent service, inviting ambience, and good presentation (along with exceptional food) then my pick is Santa Brasa (1291 Main Street Clifton NJ). On my last visit, the mixed ceviche was so good that it was almost gone before I took a photo of it. Take a look (almost gone). read more

The food was good, but the owner's treatment of the staff was upsetting. The waitress accidentally made a pricing error, and the owner wanted her to pay for the difference out of her own pocket. It really showed a lack of regard for the employees--came across as greedy. And they charged for to go containers!! And gratuity is included to any party size . The dishes are big but I can't say I enjoyed the food all that much. We had the jalea and the calamari was fried too hard. We also had the chupe de pescado, and it was too overwhelming. Besides the fried fish that it brings they added all types of vegetables (asparagus and Lima beans) and rice and it was just too much. Tried the causa and that was actually really good! Great local Peruvian spot. Food was fresh and delicious. Nice portions. Service was impeccable. Our server was very attentive. It's a small restaurant so expect to wait but it's so worth it. I had the tallarin saltado de pollo (not pictured, sorry) but it was so good. And for desert also not pictured, i had picarones. Just wow! I'll definitely be back to try other dishes. The food is good but the service is terrible whether it's take out or dine in. For take out the food is poorly package for the ceviche or choros a la chalaca. Once the bag completely broke as the deliver driver was walking up to my door. I called to let them know and they said it wasn't there problem. As professionals they should be well aware of how meals that have liquid in it should be packaged. If you dine in expect to get the oddest looks. The staff is unfriendly and there was a man who is behind the counter who will literally look up and down at you with a nasty stare. read more

Restaurant just opened in June, came to try a new restaurant in my neighborhood. Restaurant's is a good size, Peruvian decor displayed in restaurant. No reservations needed. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. I ordered pollo a la brasa, the meal was delicious and the sauces were amazing. My friend is a vegetarian so i was happy to see options for her. If you want delicious authentic Peruvian cuisine, look no further. This place has a terrific menu and many vegetarian options which is refreshing to see! We had the Vegetarian Lomo Saltado and it was so fresh and tasty without being salty and greasy. Also had the fish ceviche which was just like if not better, than the ceviche I had in Miraflores. For beverages they have chicha morada, but wanted to try a papaya shake- didn't even need the milk it was sweet and refreshing without it. Oh and don't forget to save some room for alfahores which literally melt in your mouth. The service was top notch and you can tell they take pride in their establishment. I've been here plenty of times! I brought my parents here for the first time. My fiancé and I come all the time. We absolutely love it, Food is good-- BUT! don't eat here 75 min before closing because they will literally rush you, be on top of you every 10 min. Sweeping the floors right next to your table (dust particles in the air , no manners!) oh and they will let you know upon sitting that their kitchen is closing soon so they rush you to order. Didn't even get a chance to quickly look at the menu. But it's a Peruvian restaurant so you kinda know what you wanna order. They were cleaning all around with scent stuff for their floors and table, Very rude. So in conclusion, eat here only during their normal business hours. Don't come not an hour before closing! And they also charge for containers!!!! Ridiculous! read more

Love the food there, especially the cerviche mixto (seafood). been there many times, but this time is a first I've ever heard of this: we brought our own wine, because it's BYOB, and they charged two dollars for each glass... yes the GLASS... to pour our own wine into!! And then we took home leftovers, and they charged for each aluminum take out container! They also add an automatic 15% gratuity on top of the bill for the food and the glasses, and the takeout containers, after tax. Even though we love the food, there are many Peruvian restaurants in the area and I have to think twice about coming here again. So sad. read more

Decent food but way over priced for a lomo saltado when they mostly give you rice, fries and onions. Where the heck is the steak?? I'd rather go down the road for better lomo saltado in Paterson, or go get a real steak at a steakhouse and pay a bit more. read more

My husband and I were craving Peruvian and tried Santa Brasa for the first time. We loved the authentic feel and family run business. We ordered half rotisserie chicken, anticuchos chicken kabob, a small side of maduros, and a alfajor cookie for takeout. The restaurant was pretty busy so the wait was pretty long. It was definitely worth the wait though. Everything was super flavorful and tender. I recommend calling ahead when ordering take out to avoid the wait. Hands down the best Peruvian food I have had ever!!! My friend recommended this place & I couldn't be more thankful. I love Peruvian food. When this spot opened up close to home I HAD to try it. This restaurant has easily moved into my top 2-3 Peruvian restaurants in the area. Everything I tried was delicious. I went 3 times in 1 week! I tried their papa a la huancaina...5 outta 5. Their chaufa, lomo saltado, soup & even the alfajores was all top notch. You can tell they make their food with love and passion. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you like Peruvian food. You will not be disappointed. This newly-opened family restaurant has authentic Peruvian cuisine! They have a great selection of food -- so you're sure to find something you'll like. My friend is a vegetarian & she loved the fact that they had options for her! I had the Lomo Saltado which is a stir fry of seasoned top sirloin, onions & tomatoes. It came with rice & homemade fries. It was very flavorful by itself, but it also pairs really well with their mild sauce -- which made my meal even more delicious! My friend had the Vegetarian Arroz Chaufa and she really enjoyed it. The serving sizes were pretty decent too. My friend even had to take part of her food to-go. Everyone was super friendly and attentive. The restaurant even has genuine Peruvian decoration and good music. Overall, it was a great experience & REALLY good food!! My new favorite spot for Peruvian chicken!! They are always fast and the food is amazing. Price is cheap for the portions you get and its super authentic. Order the pollo la brasa with green sauce, you wont regret it! The beef Empanadas, Papa la huancaina & picarones are some of my other favorite dishes there. Highly suggested to try any of their wide range of plates, including the soups, ceviche, and fish dishes, and classic lomo and steak plates. The salad, including the mango and avocado salad was a hit, especially with the red onion. The only downside is we came on a Tuesday afternoon and the kitchen was understaffed so the food came out a little bit slow. However, everything was hot and still tasted amazing so we really didn't mind waiting for a little bit while catching up. The space is a small restaurant in a shopping plaza and will not easily accommodate parties larger than six. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area and are looking for an upscale twist to classic Peruvian cuisine.

We spent around an hour and a half at the restaurant solely because of how long it took to serve us, bring out the food, and get the check. The jalea and ceviche were both okay - not the best but also not the worst I have tried. I asked the ceviche to be spicy and it wasn't, nor was I given rocoto on the side when I asked for it. The jalea only had calamari and fish, when it's supposed to also have octopus, shrimp, etc. I will not be coming back.
