At first I was reluctant to explore this unusual combination, but as soon as I gave it a try, it was love at first bite. Feel free to smear or dip; the choice is yours. S'mores Wings: This is another unique, but unbelievably savory combination. These dessert style wings were smothered in marshmallow cream, drizzled with chocolate syrup, and sprinkled with crushed pieces of graham crackers. It was a sight for sore eyes. If you need additional chocolate sauce don't be afraid to ask for "s'more." And make sure you request "s'more" napkins because you will certainly need them! In addition to the wings, I also explored one of the main courses. Blue 42 Burger: Named after the restaurant, this burger is topped with mozzarella sticks, blue cheese crumble and bacon. The Blue 42 char on top of the bun has a nice decorative touch. If you are a fan of the Green Bay Packers, you have come to the right spot. A solid little sports bar known for its massive -- almost oppressive -- wing menu. There is a real case here of not being able to see the forest for the trees when faced with nearly 200 varieties, many of which, upon closer inspection, amount to the same handful of flavors rearranged into slightly different combinations. It feels rooted in the same philosophy that says a man buys three suits and somehow discovers endless outfits within them. But is there anything wrong with just three good suits? Do all possible combinations truly have value? At what point does variety become a little ridiculous? That said, the bones -- so to speak -- are very good. With over 180 flavors to choose from, I was overwhelmed with options but ultimately landed on 3 flavors. The Lipsmacker has Mike's Hot Honey & Lemon Pepper, the OMFG has Parmesan Peppercorn & Garlic Buffalo, and Blue 42 is a little bit of everything! The wings were well-made, crispy on the outside, not dry on the inside, and fried decently hard (slightly too hard for my liking). The flavors were on point! I enjoyed all 3 with my favorite probably being the Lipsmacker. It could've used more lemon pepper but other than that, a very strong wing! Their French Fries were hot, fresh, and super addicting. You can't enjoy wings without a good beer, and since I'm usually a light beer person, I wasn't sure how much I'd like the Wingman Double IPA but I was pleasantly surprised. This place is such a good vibe. We went on a whim and decided to switch up date night, which we usually go to restaurants for a little wine and dine. But it was football Sunday and it was the later game so we figured let's drop into a bar and have a beer. We decided to check out blue 42 naturally because of its name and its football Sunday! The server was good. The food and wings were honestly excellent however, I do have to mention that all of the drinks are served in plastic cups. Even if you're inside sitting at the bar, your Stella will be served in a plastic cup; now I understand it's a dive bar, but in my radius living in Hawthorne New Jersey, I have not seen a bar that does not have any option for glass other than this one. Could this be the King of wings? Phenomenal sports bar with an extensive menu. When we walked in, it was packed and the open tables had reserved signs on them, so I was thinking that I was going to be out of luck. Well, luckily, they have these awesome outside pods that are heated. You have outdoor tv's with the games on them and no loudness of inside the bar. I was immediately greeted and given my options on where to sit. We started off with the sampler for the appetizer and 2 types of wings. Always wanted to try Blue 42, heard the wings were great and the atmosphere too. We arrived and were asked if we had a reservation said no and we were shown to a table right inside by the door. (Didn't know they took reservations and would not of made them if I had too- just wouldn't have went) Our waiter came over quickly and introduced himself and dropped off menus. To our surprise it was still happy hour (4-7) so we took advantage of that. We ordered Blue 42 Balls (artichoke rolled with ricotta and Parmesan- served with vodka sauce) they were just ok nothing to write home about. Also ordered Mac & Cheese bites- wouldn't even try, quesadillas were so so. Then comes the wings...I've had much better so I'm giving them a 6 out of 10. Asked for all flats, regular buffalo sauce and blue cheese and celery... only to be told no celery no carrot sticks...hmmmm weird. Anyway they were ok. The place was very busy and we got the last table that was open when we walked in. People streamed in the whole time we were there, not enough tables for a bar where people like to hang out and eat, not just stand and drink. That would make me not come back again, I want to go to a good bar but I also want to sit and enjoy myself after a long day not stand and hover over a table waiting for someone to leave. Our server was very attentive and very prompt. Place was very loud and like I said we left a bit before 7 and the place was packed, we had to park up the street behind the police station and walk a little bit but that was fine. Overall I give the place 3 stars, it was ok not great wouldn't go back anytime soon. Just didn't do anything for me. read more
