I started visiting this area over the summer and have really enjoyed every trip. With so many bars and restaurants along the strip, it can be overwhelming to choose, but I keep finding myself coming back to Speakeasy. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with darker lighting, exactly what you want when you're enjoying drinks at a bar. They're always busy during the summer with visitors, but I've also noticed that locals pack the place in the off-season. That alone says a lot. I absolutely loved the barramundi francese and the onion soup pork chop, both were delicious. And I have to mention the mashed potatoes. I normally swap out the potato option, but I was sharing with someone who wanted them. They were incredibly luscious. I'll definitely get them again. Speakeasy is absolutely worth a visit. Long time span between seeing old friends calls for libations. That's what made us pick Speakeasy, which is minutes away from where an old friend lives. When she suggested this spot, I was all for trying it. We started on the bar side, where we tried happy hour specials with summer seasonal (say that five times fast) drinks. Forgive me because I don't remember what the cocktails were called, and they aren't on their website, but they weren't half bad. The first one was a bit tough to drink with all the peach pulp coming through the straw. It was a vodka based drink and what I got was good, but after a while it just became a bit difficult. I switched to a gin based drink which was very refreshing. After a drink at the bar we decide we were hungrier than we realized and parked ourselves at a table on the restaurant side. We got started with the Giant Pretzel. The cheese sauce that came with it was ok, but the winner here was the mustard dipping sauce for sure. The pretzel wasn't half bad and came out piping hot. For my meal I ordered the Crispy Eggplant Burrata. The sandwich would have been better, in my opinion, if the eggplant was sliced thinner. The sandwich tasted good but the thick slices of eggplant made it a bit difficult to eat. All in all a good spot to chill for a drink or a decent meal. Highly recommended for sure! read more

The place is located in the very busy summer area, but it was not hard to find a parking spot during the lunch time on weekday. The server was friendly and affixing. They have typical bar foods : burgers, sliders , fries. Nothing special , just ok, but I did not expect anything spectacular. The fries with cheese was funny and sad : the cheese was not melted at all, it was just sprinkled on top, so I did not get that. read more

Found this spot after looking for a kid friendly resturant after the beach. Speakeasy was perfect. Was sat outside and it was just the right amount of seating. They had these cute high top tables with bright yellow chairs. They had a kids menu that had a variety of items. The kids ordered 123 and us adults had to figure out what to get..there were some good choices. We ended up choosing a round of things and we were very satisfied. The mac and cheese was a hit, loved the wing sampler it was crispy and flavorful..my fav was the teriyaki. The truffle fries were crispy but not like truffle fries at all more garlic parm to me...we still scarfed them down. Well, well, well. The day is finally here! Yes, this is the day I write my 1,000th Yelp review and I picked a great restaurant for it... As soon as I walked into Speakeasy, I felt that energy. The live music was on point. People at the bar were happy and some dancing. And the sitting area was far enough away from the bar so that you don't have people constantly knocking over your food. My wife ordered the Avocado Fries. I did not think that I would like avocados that are fried, but I was totally wrong. They were so delicious that I hardly shared them as I almost finished the whole plate. I ordered the Barramundi Francaise for my entrée. I didn't know what to expect, but I thought "hey I like chicken Francaise, so why not try the same thing with fish instead". And I'm glad I tried it! The lemon butter went with the fish perfectly. It came with a side of Burnt Broccoli. As someone who HATES broccoli, you would have never guess it judging by how much of them I ate. If my mom made broccoli the same way as Speakeasy, I would have eaten a lot more vegetable when I was younger. Our waitress, Claire, was excellent. My friend and I were in Long Beach that afternoon and decided to look for a place to dine. With many options, we decided to go to Speakeasy on Monday late afternoon. The host, she greeted us with a big smile and welcome and we already felt at home. She sat us at a table outside so I could watch sports on the TV. I believe our waitress was Liz. She was amazing! She has such a great attitude and she seemed to be the only one serving in the dining and outside areas. We got our Guiness 1st, they onlynhad 2 glasses available, the keg was empty and later we switched to Milk stout that she explained. We started ordering like crazy. QST we got the pretzilla which was tasty, and we asked for more beer cheese and they happily obliged. French onion soup was really good too. My friend got cold from the heavy winds outside and they easily moved us inside without a hassle at all. They were accommodating the entire time we were there. We also ordered the tuna with wraps. The 3 sauces were good especially the spicy horseradish sauce!! We also got the shrimp tempura like dish along with their signature Surf and Turf Mac and Cheese. I noticed there are about 6 taps at the bar and they're filled with seasonal summer beers. I love Summer Beers. To have a beer with the Atlantic Ocean roaring in the background? Priceless. Speakeasy is a great gastropub, its progressive with bar related items. My buddy Jason mentioned ordering the pretzilla. I knew he was jonesin' for it but somehow we passed on appetizers. Friday nights, I meet my wife for happy hour and I knew I had to eat lite. I ordered a simple burger with sweet potato fries. I'm drinking my beer, having a burger and I'm totally in the zone. While in this blissful state, a dude walks and says: I have DVDs, check it out...... I wanted to say, here's the jail cell, right this way but I have wifee waiting in the wings. Spotted this place on Yelp before heading to Long Beach, wanted to stop in and give it a try for lunch. My friend and I were seated immediately, not a lot of staff inside but not busy either so service was quick. Without much expectations I ordered the Thai Tuna Lettuce Wraps and my friend got the Grilled Cheese Duck Sandwich. We got our dishes not too long after and we're both pretty surprised at how good they were! The Thai Tuna Lettuce Wraps was delicately cut slices of raw tuna with garnished with slices of small lettuce covered by carrots, onions, (radish?) and more. I'm slightly allergic to carrots so I had to take it out, I would've asked for no carrots if I knew it was included, but all good! My friend devoured his grilled cheese duck sandwich so all I got was a photo. Must have been good. Definitely want to try a full entree here with some drinks next time! read more

Disclaimer: This is not a "speakeasy" Pretty cool bar nonetheless. I rarely find myself in Long Beach so I cannot speak for how it compares to others in the area but we liked it! They have a respectable selection of craft beers on tap. The cocktail list was not as impressive though. The food was unexpectedly really good! The menu is creative. They stray from typical bar food, and they do it very well. We tried the parmesan truffle fries, queso fundido, and chicken burrata sandwich with Greek salad. All delicious and full of flavor. The queso fundido (with jalapenos and chorizo) reminded me of the queso from Moe's and we LOVED it. It was fairly large and good for sharing. Also, the fries had a ton of parmasan with a distinct truffle flavor. Hate when "truffle fries" don't smell/taste like truffle. Lastly, the vibe was interesting. They had country music playing almost the whole time we were there (Friday night around 9). I wouldn't hesitate to return and try other menu items. Or just go for a couple of drinks. read more

OK. so, the PRETZILLA!!!!!! Oh My God! Arguably BEST SOFT PRETZEL IVE EVER HAD!!!!! It's huge, and comes hanging off of some type of metal hook (like a Radko ornament hanger) . It was perfect! Warm. The outside was crispy, and inside was a soft, almost croissant-like consistency. Flavor was amazing, and perfectly salted-not too little, not too much-just right!! It wasn't greasy on the outside like an Auntie Ann one (gross), but had an unassuming "glisten,"!if that makes sense? It was heavenly. (Not sure I've ever used that adjective to describe a pretzel). Oh, yes - we ordered other food also. Wings were really good too. I got the "meatloaf tidbits" for dinner. This was actually an open faced meatLOAF parm hero, with golden & melty mozz on too. Looked amazing. Looked so promising. I was psyched when I saw it. It wasn't. It was nasty! For some reason (and my husband actually agreed-I wasn't going crazy), it tasted clammy (yes, like clams from the ocean). I don't think meatloaf is known to taste clammy) ew, I'm throwing up a lil in my mouth... anyway, it had this odd flavor. Also, it was so charred, and I hate that "black-liney taste", as I call it. It was so overpoweringly char-tasting, that you couldn't even taste the clammy meatloaf. The bread and the meatloaf pieces equally charred- especially the edges. So yuck. Jerry had a burger, and didn't go "woah!" either way, so I guess it was nothing to write home about. We came inside to Speakeasy after a party on the beach for the post-Hurricane Sandy boardwalk demolition. Apparently, Speakeasy was remodeled after the hurricane, but since this was my first visit, I'm not sure what it looked like prior... This bar is a nice change of pace from the often packed, often insane Minnesota's and Beach House. Speakeasy is just one of those places that you can always rely on for an A++ meal. From their classic wings to their mouthwatering short rib grilled cheese, it's filling and satisfying. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal there. Last time, we frequented, my fiancé and I split their avocado fries to start. A must try! For this place I have to give 3 stars for the snotty attitude from the front of house. It was the middle of the day, pre-dinner, empty tables. Every TV had the same event on and no one seemed to be paying much attention. I asked if one of the TVs could be switched over to a tennis match. No pressure! I'm happy to eat and leave, as I was by myself. My server was very gracious about it. As I was watching, another server with nothing better to do realized I wasn't ordering any more food and shut it off. Wow. Obsessed. Cute little bar down west of Long Beach. The worst part is finding parking as anywhere down west would be. They have live music some nights and special events hosted by local shops. LB runs a lot of craft events at the bars down here. They have a great beer selection. "Home of the 100 pint club." Can't wait to make it on the wall. I'm going to be gaining 25 beer lbs. Appetizer must have is the pretzilla. ($10) I can't mention it enough. It's the size of your face; easy share between two people. The pretzel is deep fried and the crust tastes like egg roll. Ugh drool. The avocado fries ($10) are lightly breaded and fried. Mmmm mmmm! Served with a sweet sauce that has a surprising taste. My BF wouldn't stop dipping his burger in it. We had buffalo chicken Mac and cheese that was nice. The bacon blue cheese burger was the star of the entrees. I don't recommend the sweet potato strings. This place is seriously amazing. Came here for a few apps the other day with my boyfriend. Oh my lord it was amazing. You must get the pretzilla! It is a homemade pretzel that is HUGE, comes with homemade cheese beer dip and homemade mustard. It taste BOMB as hell. The next thing we tried was the wing sampler which has three types of wings and about 5 each. The teriyaki was my favorite. My boyfriend enjoyed the buffalo wings. Next which was honesty the best thing I had was the avocado fries. They were crunchy but not greasy at all! It was amazing. The dipping sauce was good but I honestly was dipping it in the beer cheese. Also we gotten a jalapeño margarita which was a tingle to my taste buds. Awesome mix of all foods. Nice small spot near the end of the West End. I came here on a Monday night when it was Fried Chicken Night, what you get is 2 pieces of fried chicken, homemade spicy corn bread, a side of........ and a very good salad topped with bacon, ranch dressing, cheese and croutons. What I like more about this place is there assortment of beer, its not your typical bud and miller they have beer from all over the world. Lunch with Tessie and Jessie! I came with Tessie, the bartenders name was Jessie and she was awesome! I checked in with my handy dandy YELP app and scored a free beer! We started with a pretzel, the size of my head, which I personally loved because it was doughy like bread. It came with homemade mustard sauce and beer cheese dipping sauce. Next up was a short rib grilled cheese sandwich accompanied with shoestring sweet potato fries. The braised beef was delicious! The bar was very laid back with exposed brick walls, hardwood floors and dark tones. It was the perfect place to hang out on a cold Wednesday afternoon. Place got packed with customer really quick. We had specials mimosas and Bloody Mary. We wanted to eat something light cause we knew we were day drink. We ordered the avocado fries. Highly highly recommended!!!! Delicious with the sweet chili sauce. Mmmmmm delicious!!! I had the tomato soup with grill cheese bites. Excellent in every way. He had the chicken tortilla soup. He said it was okay. The way they dress the soup with slices of avocado slightly above the soup, I would have put the crispy Chinese noodles on top of the avocado or on the plate they serve the bowl on. So far I have enjoyed their BBQ wings, mac & cheese, Hawaiian salmon, short ribs, sweet & sour salmon & bbq salmon.
