Found this spot after looking for a kid friendly resturant after the beach. Speakeasy was perfect. Was sat outside and it was just the right amount of seating. They had these cute high top tables with bright yellow chairs. They had a kids menu that had a variety of items. The kids ordered 123 and us adults had to figure out what to get..there were some good choices. We ended up choosing a round of things and we were very satisfied. The mac and cheese was a hit, loved the wing sampler it was crispy and flavorful..my fav was the teriyaki. The truffle fries were crispy but not like truffle fries at all more garlic parm to me...we still scarfed them down. Costumer service was good and the place was clean and socially distanced...

    Barramundi Francaise

Well, well, well. The day is finally here! Yes, this is the day I write my 1,000th Yelp review and I picked a great restaurant for it... As soon as I walked into Speakeasy, I felt that energy. The live music was on point. People at the bar were happy and some dancing. And the sitting area was far enough away from the bar so that you don't have people constantly knocking over your food. My wife ordered the Avocado Fries. I did not think that I would like avocados that are fried, but I was totally wrong. They were so delicious that I hardly shared them as I almost finished the whole plate. I ordered the Barramundi Francaise for my entrée. I didn't know what to expect, but I thought "hey I like chicken Francaise, so why not try the same thing with fish instead". And I'm glad I tried it! The lemon butter went with the fish perfectly. It came with a side of Burnt Broccoli. As someone who HATES broccoli, you would have never guess it judging by how much of them I ate. If my mom made broccoli the same way as Speakeasy, I would have eaten a lot more vegetable when I was younger. Our waitress, Claire, was excellent. She was very nice and patient and knew the menu very well. This is a great restaurant where you can have a top-notch, yet laid-back, dinner. I will definitely be back.

Service is good. Good is not that good. Lacks depth of flavor. But it is a typical bar, with bar food. From 4 star reviews I was expecting more.

My friend and I were in Long Beach that afternoon and decided to look for a place to dine. With many options, we decided to go to Speakeasy on Monday late afternoon. The host, she greeted us with a big smile and welcome and we already felt at home. She sat us at a table outside so I could watch sports on the TV. I believe our waitress was Liz. She was amazing! She has such a great attitude and she seemed to be the only one serving in the dining and outside areas. We got our Guiness 1st, they onlynhad 2 glasses available, the keg was empty and later we switched to Milk stout that she explained. We started ordering like crazy. QST we got the pretzilla which was tasty, and we asked for more beer cheese and they happily obliged. French onion soup was really good too. My friend got cold from the heavy winds outside and they easily moved us inside without a hassle at all. They were accommodating the entire time we were there. We also ordered the tuna with wraps. The 3 sauces were good especially the spicy horseradish sauce!! We also got the shrimp tempura like dish along with their signature Surf and Turf Mac and Cheese. It was a great late afternoon with this place and Liz and the other staff people made it even better. It's definitely a place to return to!!

Really cool place with a nice patio area. The food was all reasonably priced expect for the entrees. I'm disappointed in myself for getting the chicken and gravy that was $25 I should have done so many other great looking options. The buffalo Mac and cheese was bomb and so was the giant pretzel.

My wife and I decided to try speakeasy for Sunday brunch. The atmosphere was friendly and boisterous, the service was great and the food was amazing. We both barely finished our meals, but they were so good it was hard to stop. She had the Panko French toast, And I had the big mamas breakfast. Both were absolutely delicious. I would certainly go back!

Burger love! Sweet potato shoestring fries were damn good and never ending

Cool pub in Long Beach but good luck finding a parking spot, yeesh. *Free* Guinness beer with Yelp check in?? Damn, that's what I'm talking about, some Yelp love!! So two Italian guys walk into a bar.. No it's not a joke, I'm with my brother from another mother and we decided to have a burger & brew at Speakeasy. I noticed there are about 6 taps at the bar and they're filled with seasonal summer beers. I love Summer Beers. To have a beer with the Atlantic Ocean roaring in the background? Priceless. Speakeasy is a great gastropub, its progressive with bar related items. My buddy Jason mentioned ordering the pretzilla. I knew he was jonesin' for it but somehow we passed on appetizers. Friday nights, I meet my wife for happy hour and I knew I had to eat lite. I ordered a simple burger with sweet potato fries. I'm drinking my beer, having a burger and I'm totally in the zone. While in this blissful state, a dude walks and says: I have DVDs, check it out...... I wanted to say, here's the jail cell, right this way but I have wifee waiting in the wings. I'm sure this place is crazy crowded at nights & weekend. Great food, my burger was cooked perfectly, the beers are spot on for the summer, its just a cool spot. Speakeasy, you spoke to me with love by serving cold beers and good burgers.

    Thai Tuna Lettuce Wraps
    Derek M.

Spotted this place on Yelp before heading to Long Beach, wanted to stop in and give it a try for lunch. My friend and I were seated immediately, not a lot of staff inside but not busy either so service was quick. Without much expectations I ordered the Thai Tuna Lettuce Wraps and my friend got the Grilled Cheese Duck Sandwich. We got our dishes not too long after and we're both pretty surprised at how good they were! The Thai Tuna Lettuce Wraps was delicately cut slices of raw tuna with garnished with slices of small lettuce covered by carrots, onions, (radish?) and more. I'm slightly allergic to carrots so I had to take it out, I would've asked for no carrots if I knew it was included, but all good! My friend devoured his grilled cheese duck sandwich so all I got was a photo. Must have been good. Definitely want to try a full entree here with some drinks next time!

Pretzilla! Best pretzel I've ever tasted!

Liked the spot. Found it using Yelp ;) cool atmosphere, lotsa draft beers. Reminded me of Bronx ale House a lot.. the layout, digital draught signage, the menu (I even wonder if they're affiliated in some way?) anyway? The atmosphere was typical nyc pub (30's ish's), and I liked their outdoor patio area, which had walls and a roof, I think heat lamps, and socially distanced hi-top tables. OK. so, the PRETZILLA!!!!!! Oh My God! Arguably BEST SOFT PRETZEL IVE EVER HAD!!!!! It's huge, and comes hanging off of some type of metal hook (like a Radko ornament hanger) . It was perfect! Warm. The outside was crispy, and inside was a soft, almost croissant-like consistency. Flavor was amazing, and perfectly salted-not too little, not too much-just right!! It wasn't greasy on the outside like an Auntie Ann one (gross), but had an unassuming "glisten,"!if that makes sense? It was heavenly. (Not sure I've ever used that adjective to describe a pretzel). Oh, yes - we ordered other food also. Wings were really good too. I got the "meatloaf tidbits" for dinner. This was actually an open faced meatLOAF parm hero, with golden & melty mozz on too. Looked amazing. Looked so promising. I was psyched when I saw it. It wasn't. It was nasty! For some reason (and my husband actually agreed-I wasn't going crazy), it tasted clammy (yes, like clams from the ocean). I don't think meatloaf is known to taste clammy) ew, I'm throwing up a lil in my mouth... anyway, it had this odd flavor. Also, it was so charred, and I hate that "black-liney taste", as I call it. It was so overpoweringly char-tasting, that you couldn't even taste the clammy meatloaf. The bread and the meatloaf pieces equally charred- especially the edges. So yuck. Jerry had a burger, and didn't go "woah!" either way, so I guess it was nothing to write home about. Conclusion, we'd back to get MANY Pretzillas- I may drive the hour from Brooklyn just to get one, and a few to go!!! So delectable ! Sigh. Apps n beers only for us tho next time.

We came inside to Speakeasy after a party on the beach for the post-Hurricane Sandy boardwalk demolition. Apparently, Speakeasy was remodeled after the hurricane, but since this was my first visit, I'm not sure what it looked like prior... This bar is a nice change of pace from the often packed, often insane Minnesota's and Beach House. Its relatively narrow interior (for Long Beach) and exposed brick reminded me of a nice low-key dive in NYC, but their beer selection (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/speakeasy-long-beach?select=TWCqXRlih9Cvih09nUMnRw#TWCqXRlih9Cvih09nUMnRw) helps contrast them from the other west end bars. They've got really friendly bartenders and a funky-looking jukebox to boot!

From the moment we arrived, the entrance was a standout disguised as a regular laundromat with a bouncer outside. The door itself was cleverly hidden, blending in as a regular washing machine, and if you weren't in the know, you'd probably miss it entirely. Once inside, we descended into a spacious area with two bar stations and a stage set up for live music, which gave the place an exciting, eclectic vibe. Since it was our first time, we asked for the cocktail menu and were fortunate to have Dan as our bartender, easily one of the best bartenders I've ever encountered. His drink-making skills were on another level, and we immediately struck up a great conversation. Dan started us off with some unique choices from the menu. I tried the Smoked Apple Fashion, which was incredibly smooth with a crisp apple flavor and a subtle smoky finish. It was so easy to drink almost too easy! My girlfriend ordered the Gangnam Style, which was visually stunning with boba pearls, though not very strong if you're after a more potent drink. Next, I had the Cider House Mule, and it was hands-down the best mule I've ever tasted. They swapped out the typical vodka for spiced rum, and it was a game changer bursting with flavor and perfectly spiced. This is when things started to get really fun. Dan, seeing that we were enjoying ourselves, began crafting custom drinks for us, starting with Dan's Malibu Special for my girlfriend. She loves Malibu, and this drink was fruity, smooth, and delicious. It was so good, I had to order one for myself. Dan recommended adding a shot of tequila to give it a bit more kick, and he wasn't wrong this was next-level good. Honestly, Dan's Malibu Special needs to be a permanent item on their menu. It's that good and would definitely be a hit. Dan then served up a Peanut Noir Old Fashioned. I know I know, peanut in a cocktail sounds odd, but it was incredible! I was blown away by how well the peanut flavor worked in an Old Fashioned. It was one of those drinks that make you question why you haven't had something like it before. Dan mentioned that unlike many places that use store bought ingredients, they make a lot of their mixers and components from scratch. For instance, their ginger root is muddled fresh for mules rather than relying on ginger beer, which really makes a difference in flavor and freshness. Following that, I tried a Chocolate Old Fashioned, which, while still very smooth, was probably the weakest of the Old Fashioneds I had that night, but it still went down easy. By this point, I was starting to feel the effects of all these fantastic cocktails, especially since I hadn't eaten all day! I ended my night with a Summer Old Fashioned, garnished with either rosemary or thyme (I can never tell the difference). It had that signature smoothness Dan brought to all his Old Fashioneds and was a perfect end to the night. The ambiance of The Laundromat was fantastic. It had a lively yet relaxed feel, with a mixed crowd of both older and younger patrons. Sports were playing on the TVs, and you could tell the energy would pick up even more when the live music kicked off around 7:30. Unfortunately, we had to leave before that to grab some food (after all that drinking, I needed something in my stomach!). Thankfully, I had the foresight to take a Lyft to The Laundromat, easily the best decision of the night. Overall, The Laundromat is an absolute gem. The drinks were some of the best I've ever had, the conversation with Dan was great, and the atmosphere was perfect for a fun, laid-back night out. I'll definitely be coming back, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable cocktail experience.

We waited 40 minutes for a table (yes even with a reservation), and had to go up to the hostess stand multiple times to get any sort of update. Understandable it's busy on New Year's Day, but we've never had this issue before and 40 minutes feels really long, we could have had our entire meal and left by that point. On top of that we were jammed packed in with multiple other families who were also waiting for a table and it was very uncomfortable. We decided to wait it out because typically we really love this place, and we have been coming here every New Year's Eve for four years straight. Obviously this restaurant has gone downhill severely. To top it off the manager was telling people how on Mother's Day they had 100 no shows, implying they over booked and let their customers pay the price. Which fine, it's a restaurant thing to overbook just in case, but to inconvenience your customers this way is not okay. When we finally got the table and wanted to sit down we were scolded by the busboy for attempting to sit when we were told by the manager we could, even though it wasn't fully ready yet. So we then saw the table next to it was nearly fully prepared and asked if we could just sit down there. The assistant manager was annoyed by us and asked for us to wait for silverware, but after 40 minutes we were desperate to sit, so we said we didn't mind if they prepped around us and politely begged to just sit down since we had been waiting so long. Finally he just gave us an exasperated "Fine!" and we sat despite the horrific attitude of the staff. We really weren't trying to be difficult, there was barely any room in the waiting area and we were just hoping to get out of the way after waiting so long and two of our family members needing to stand that entire time. The food wasn't great this time around, very unseasoned. It seemed rushed, without thought, and it took forever to come out. Service was incredibly slow, but due to no fault of our server. They had left their staff to pick up the pieces as they were obviously overwhelmed and it took a long time to get any service. It was such a disappointment as it is usually a favorite spot to go with prompt service. In the end the manager did nothing. We thought for sure he would comp something because he knew we had to wait very long, especially when we had other plans New Year's Eve, but he didn't even come up to us and apologize. He also knows we have been coming here for years, we told him that it's a tradition, so the way we were treated was so upsetting. Our waiter instead had to apologize even though it wasn't his fault at all, and nothing was comped from our meal. I would have appreciated if the manager apologized and did something to make up for the horrible experience on a major holiday. I wouldn't have written this review if he did the right thing and apologized, but he couldn't even do that. After many years of coming here I can't recommend it anymore. The management obviously has no care for their loyal customers and the food has only gotten worse over the years. Avoid it.
