After eating here for years (more times than I can count), I was shocked to realize I'd never reviewed EGP Oceanside. It's the "sister" restaurant to EGP Land and Sea in Island Park, NY--and honestly, both spots deserve your business. EGP Oceanside is a big step up from your typical local pub. The food quality, presentation, and menu choices really speak for themselves. On my last visit, I had the French Dip from the specials menu--somehow even better than the French Onion Dip I usually go for. Mussels (Black Pearls) are always a winner. If you want to eat a little lighter, the EGP Salad with caramelized d 'Anjou pears is fantastic. Their wings can go toe-to-toe with anyone's, the burgers are crazy good, and my all-time favorite sandwich, "The Thick Chick," better never leave the menu (same goes for the Steak Tidbits). Everything is made fresh, and the owners and servers are always friendly and welcoming. In the summer, the outdoor space adds another bar and often live entertainment, which is a great bonus. Great selection of craft beers. Plus, there's plenty of parking in the back. Just a consistently great place to eat. read more

What was since my FAVORITE restaurant has severely gone down hill. All of the reasons I loved this place have slowly faded away. Sauce flights with delicious sauces like bacon ranch, maple aioli, garlic mayo given at the table. Not anymore, you have to ask specifically for each sauce individually. Delicious pretzels buns? Still have them but they look like a homemade mess compared to the masterpieces they used to look. Delicious fresh cut fries? Nope frozen and oily now. Food served on cool wood boards? Not anymore; boring plates. Not sure why the quality of pretty much everything has went down. Unfortunately I will not be returning any time soon. read more

The bread was too soft to hold together so the sandwich was difficult to eat by hand. The tacos also looked great. The ambiance was bar like. My Cousin had just married the love of his life and on the Sunday following were hosting a brunch for some of their relatives and closest friends. It was also the Bride's birthday. The location they chose was the EGP Gastropub, a place that I had never been to before which always makes me approach such happenings with added interest. As our group was on the large side, we were seated in what I guess is their party room and that is adjacent to the outdoor patio but with the skies being very gloomy and rain pending none of us went out there. It would eventually pour down rain but we were all safe and dry in the side room. The bar was an open one and the breakfast was a buffet. It featured the usual stuff like eggs, sausage, pancakes, waffles and bacon. I recalled a pasta dish but for me that never mixes good with a breakfast option. Everything tasted great and I made sure to go back for seconds. Staffers Victor and Karen were assigned to our group and as a result I never saw an empty drink or a messy plate laying around across the time we spent in the restaurant. Talk about fast and friendly, they did the place proud. I think there were about 40 of us in all and that is a lot to keep fed and hydrated. There was also a complimentary WiFi for patrons to use which was a bonus. This was a good time for sure but since I am very seldom in this part of the Island, I can't say for certain if I will ever be back there. Went to see a favorite band & have been to the EGP in Island Park & always had a great experience. However though the food & waitress( a friend asked us to sit with them after the following happened) was good in Oceanside the manger, Donna was a very nasty person. I and all the people around were disturbed by her attitude to the lack of stools at the outside bar. We all wanted to have dinner & buy drinks & sit at the high top tables outside since there were no tables inside, She told me in the nastiest & offensive way that if I didn't like there were no seats I could just leave, I had taken a stool from the back of the bar, that had a ripped seat that no one was using & she came outside & told me to get up & took it away. I'm going to keep this review short and sweet because merely thinking too long about the meal I had last night at EGP Gastropub will keep me up all night in hunger pains. Oh what a glorious meal it was. From their crunchy, cheesy and gooey deliciousness Mac n cheese balls to the tender, juicy and savory enigma that is their French dip sandwich.. not a single morsel was spared last night. Oh and how could I forget their nachos (sans meat). The combination of pineapple and jalapeño kept my taste buds perfectly on balance and ready for the next bite. On the way out to our uber, we walked through their bar, which we didn't even know was there! Everyone at that bar seemed to be having a great time as they were all smiles and laughs. Came for brunch with my girls on a Saturday morning. We got there right at opening and it was pretty empty as we sat there the customers were strolling in. The music was on point with old school joints. The unlimited brunch drinks were good and strong ! And I like that they don't force the whole table to do it. On the brunch menue we shared the deep fried French toast with Nutella Duce de lèche and caramelized corn flakes. It was delicious even though we got to it way after it was popping hot. I had the EGP grilled cheese which was good for 3 days afterwards for me. Sadly the fried green tomato was not a green tomato and I missed that crunchy part of the sandwich definitely shareable. My friend had the chicken and waffles which were well done and chicken was well flavored. Then lastly was the lobster Mac and cheese which was tripped with fried cornflakes. Great meal! Amazing Service! EGP Oside is a great spot. Took wifey for a Friday date night around 8. The place was packed with groups of families and friends celebrating birthdays, graduations and, like us, the weekend. We arrived and were seated within seconds, even though it was packed. Our server was there in a flash and we had our food in front of us in about ten minutes. I have to say everyone working at EGP is super warm and the service is great. We had the steak tidbits and French onion sammie with fries and onion rings. Both were very good and the portions are as well. There's a main dining room as well as a large bar and outdoor area. We ordered delivery from EBP and boy was it quick. We expected 30 minutes and they were here in 20. No complaints here. Everything arrived warmed and well presented. All was received highly with the exception of the nachos. Even though it was not what we expected, the Tuna was delicious. We will visit them in person for the real dining experience. read more

We came upon this restaurant by accident, needing a place in Oceanside to meet. Was very pleasantly surprised ! They have a good menu,i ndoor, semi indoor and a beautiful outdoor patio! You could have the brunch menu or lunch menu. With the brunch menu you can add a $10 u limited drink. They have many vegetarian options available. Staff were friendly and attentive. Portions good, dishes very tasty, and nicely presented. Someone had the outdoor patio for a 40th birthday party , which is the perfect setting on a beautiful day. If I lived closer, I would frequent this establishment often. Outdoor patio is a great place for a party or shower. There is a large parking lot in the back, for convenience. read more

I've had EGP on my bucket list for awhile now since relocating back to Nassau County. Last night I was invited out and can officially cross it off my list. Oceanside is home to many different spots to dine and EGP brings a different pub vibe. EAT kind of reminds me of Micheal Mina's Pub 1842 in Vegas. Their menu is super rich in gluttonous bites such as their famous Philly Steak Egg Rolls (I'm an addict !) and Mac Spheres (fried Mac and cheese balls). We visited after 10 expecting to sample a full menu but unfortunately we could only choose from the Late Night Bites menu without the full kitchen staff working. Our waiter/ bartender was awesome. He was very helpful with suggesting menu items and service was perfect. For Labor Day weekend, it was empty. We had the entire patio/ beer garden area to ourselves. The patio area is impressive ! It's large and perfect for a nice outdoor brunch. The artwork added a dope artistic flair. The area of the restaurant seems ideal for hosting a edgy private event. We decided to sample a few apps including the Philly Steak Eggrolls, BuffaQ Wings ( a mix of buffalo and barbecue sauced Wings) and the Mac Spheres. Everything was tasty and not fried in heavy oil. The Philly Eggrolls were moist, crispy, flavorful and the cheese sauce it was drenched in really packed on the cheese part of the Philly steak. We paired our apps with Long Island's of course and The Governor's Mule. The Mule was very refreshing. The presentation of the food was also stellar. I'm definitely coming back to rock brunch on the patio and to sample the full menu. read more

I'be been to EGP Oceanside many times over the years and always had the best food, service, and times with my family and friends. The appetizers, main courses, desserts, and ambience are all great. The ambiance is pub-like with a great bar menu and tasteful musical entertainment on some weekends. One of my favorite dishes is the giant pretzel to start or the best steamed mussels anywhere- that or the crispy and tender wings. The mains I have enjoyed include: the chicken pot pie, an array of burgers or steaks and delicious seafood. Do get the churros with a dark chocolate caramel sauce on the side and fresh whipped cream. Pretty good. The food here is decent. I think this is one of those places that gets the reputation as "THE beer bar" in the area because of the flaunted "24 taps" on the outside sign. The beer selection is surprisingly just decent, as they didn't have many interesting taps, mainly just the staples. Food was definitely good. Big burgers and sandwiches, mac and cheese, the works. No complaints about the food. The place frequently hosts parties in either their backyard or party room, which I'm sure is great, though it takes seats away. We came here on a beautiful Saturday evening hoping to sit outside but they were still cleaning up from an afternoon party in the yard and couldn't seat us outside, which was disappointing. I'm sure I'll be back, I drive past EGP all the time, but I have more gastropubs like this closer to home so it may be a while. read more

A good friend suggested we meet after work at EGP. I hadn't heard of it, yet checked menu to figure out what I could eat. Veggie burgers, especially those that are house made, can be a crap shoot, but I decided to give it a shot. We found a table not far from the bar. Our server was very pleasant and had no problem customizing my order. The moment of truth. As she placed my veggie burger and salad down, I had no idea where it was all going to go! The house made veggie burger was topped with fried onions. This was not your garden variety grocers burger; this burger was huge and delicious! Went here for my cousins birthday brunch and loved it. You can literally drive by this place and never even know it's there, but big mistake! Once you enter there will be a bar to greet you and tables past the bar. And they also do private parties. Enjoyed the unlimited drink special they had going and my chicken fried steak was on the money. Everybody's dishes looked great. When I first reviewed it almost 7 years ago - I gave them 5 stars - now I am being generous with this updated review and it's 3 states. Food is decent - but not as creative as prior years. Service seems to be lacking the professionalism they had when first opened. Drinks - blah - big drop off. When they first opened - they had a large assortment of beers - this time my husband struck out on first three request - either out of stock or kegs needed to be retapped. Prior mixologists knew their craft and made a good quality NYC styled cocktail. This time - a kid referred a book to make a drink I've ordered 100x before at EGP. Met a family friend for brunch today and my wife wanted to go here because she just recently had a bridal shower here. Rainy day but we were hoping to sit outside in the outdoor patio, unfortunately it looked like there was a bridal shower...so we went inside. Got there about 11:30 and it was empty. Nice options and the burgers looked great, but we all opted for bunch options. Wife and son got the Eggs Benedict. My son got a side of potatoes - which were really good. Both said the Benny was yummy. Our friend got the frittata but switched out the goat cheese for mozz - she said it was delish. I went with the poutine with a side of corned beef hash, which had peppers in it - not what I usually expect but it was okay. They offer an all you can drink adult brunch drinks - our friend, my wife and I got the Bloody Mary's - each for $17. They were okay, but probably could have skipped that. All in all, nice brunch, good food and great service. I asked my wife and son how did I forget to take pictures, my son said 'because good food and good conversation"...it was. When we were done, it filled up pretty good and the table next to us ordered some burgers and they looked HUGE. We'll be back to try them out. read more
