    "The" Crispy Hot Chicken Sandwich
    Cheryl M.

River Mill is a Pub eatery with a rustic look in decor. I ordered the onion soup with pork wontons, very different but very good, would definitely order it again. I had baked clams that consisted of mostly bread crumbs. The "Hot" Fried Chicken Sandwich was ok, it was very greasy, we were told the grease came from the dressing on the chicken. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the food and attentive.

I've been wanting to come to this place for a while. The service was good. The food was surprisingly delicious I didn't know what I was in for. The wings were good. Mozzarella sticks were good too! My pot roast was very flavorful to the point it was too much flavor. My husband enjoyed his sandwich.

Superb food, delicious cocktails and attentive service. The bar area is a welcoming space with ample seating and good vibes. The bourbon peach smash and the baked clams are delicious!

Formerly the Swiss Tavern, River Mill is a quaint small restaurant and bar with hard working servers, host, and owners. This was my second attendance to this establishment. I forgot that the name and owners changed in 2015. Walk in and there's a cozy ambiance. Bar to the left, high tables to the right, main dining room past these Dining area with same cozy wood interior ambiance. Their wine list is unintimidating and simple for an easy no nonsense choice. For appetizers the Calamari comes with a choice of Crispy Classic, Buffalo, or Kung Pao. We picked the former Classic which was very good. The Pretzel with Cheese app was fluffy and warm which we all enjoyed. My 12 oz NY Strip was presented with potato-shaped slices of cornbread in a sauce and fresh string beans which was delicious. Two at the table enjoyed their Clam Soup (not chowder), one their Fish Tacos, and 5th the Crab Cakes. The service and hard work is what really impressed me about this place. The servers were great renewing the water carafe and explanation of dishes, but I could have sworned some of our dishes were brought out by an owner or the chef himself. Something about these guys presented with finese and wisdom. One Google search while writing this review and wouldn't you know it, both the Chef/Owner and the other Owner brought out the main dishes! We had an exceptional time at this cozy gem. Extra rating for the ingenious calamari choices and the seamless teamwork. It's a cozy neighborhood place, but these guys work hard to enhance the customer experience!

I pass by River Mill most days, had considered giving them a second chance, from a strange experience that I had many years ago when it had a different name. Decided to stop in finally, for (potentially) a beer and some food, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had Smithwick's on tap at the bar. I brought out my work, wrote out a few things and waited patiently to be acknowledged. I have to say I was not made to feel comfortable, I did not get a beer. I did not get any food. I closed my book and my work and decided this place will be will not be getting my patronage. zero stars

Always a delicious meal at River Mill. Today we had a St Paddy's Day lunch Corned beef egg rolls, so tasty. Fish and Chips, flakey fish with light batter. Shepherds Pie with both beef and lamb, so yummy. Potato Leek soup was the highlight, crispy leeks on top was perfection. Our server Kristen was very personable and accommodating. The ambiance is relaxed and comfortable.!

Buffalo Chicken Flatbread (minus 1 piece) Delicious!

I've been wanting to try Rivermill for years and finally went for a family event on a Sunday. The food was really good! - I got the buffalo chicken flatbread, which was very good! Crispy flatbread, with decent portions of cheesy buffalo chicken on top. My sister said the burger was great too. We had a pretzel appetizer that came with pizza dip, which was good and a little different than the cheese sauce you'd normally get. The Cookie platter dessert was also delicious. - If you like cocktails, the Frozen Sangria is a must in my book! So fresh and Not overly sweet. Absolutely delicious! - We were about 15 people and had made a reservation. I was pleasantly surprised at how great the service was even with such a big group! They checked on us often, brought food and drinks quickly, and accommodated all our requests. - They had seating in a patio area outback, which was half covered by an awning. (We sat inside) - They also had high chairs available upon request.

Great meeting space was set up for us

I had the opportunity to eat at River Mill at a visit to a Kiwanis Club meeting. It was a delightful and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. They have a nice size parking lot behind the restaurant and there is street parking as well. It's right on Ocean Ave off Peninsula Blvd and extremely easy to get to. You walk to a nice bar/restaurant and are greeted very nicely. It really makes a big difference when you walk into a restaurant and they're happy to see you. We sat in a sectioned off area in the room in the back and had about 25 people. It is a wonderful setting with a lot of electricity in the air. Being part of a group makes a little bit easier as the menus already picked out. I went with the Chicken Cutlet Parm with vodka sauce and pasta. This was delicious. The chicken was thin and tender with a great crunch. Sauce was excellent and the pasta was perfectly cooked. We had a very attentive server who managed to get our entire order before a meeting gets started everything is served quickly which allows us to be able to relax for a while. It sounds like simple thing but it takes a lot of work and River Mill did it very well. Let's not forget that River Mill is a also a wonderful bar that is managed well with great selections of draft beers and plenty of specially cocktails. It's good to sit back and see so many people having a good time. Lots of regulars here. I am definitely looking forward to going back just as a couple where we can sit and enjoy some of their other food. KUDOs to the team at River Mill.

What time is the brunch menu hours ? Is the regular menu available also?

I would call to find out the Brunch times Bc they've changed the times that they're open for business due to the pandemic. As a result, they may have changed the brunch hours as well. But yes, regular menu is also available during brunch time.

    Is there a happy hour?

    Yep! M-F 3-7!

Small, cozy spot with a great vibe !…read more Definitely recommend making reservations because it fills up quickly. The owner and his wife are usually there working and they're both so warm and welcoming. They always take the time to stop by each table to say hello and make sure everyone's happy, which really adds a personal touch you don't find often anymore. The food is consistently amazing, one of my absolute favorites is the fried burrata with honey drizzle (trust me, it's a must-try!). The cheeseburger, pasta dishes, and chicken are all incredible -- everything I've had has been a solid 10/10. You can really tell they put care into every detail, from presentation to flavor. Whether you're coming for a date night, dinner with friends, or just a nice meal out, Haviland Kitchen & Bar never disappoints. It's one of those local gems you'll keep coming back to. They not only accommodated us but even asked other patrons to shift a bit so we'd have more space. Such a thoughtful touch. We started with the chickpea fries with smoky hummus and the crispy tuna tartare -- both were incredible. The chickpea fries were different in the best way, perfectly crisp, and that hummus had just the right amount of smokiness. The spicy tuna hit the spot -- fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For mains, I had the chopped gem salad, which was so fresh with the best tangy dressing -- light but full of flavor. I also ordered the lamb kebabs, but I was so full I had to take them to go. My husband had the pork shank, which was fall-apart tender with a rich cider sauce that was absolutely delicious. And the drinks -- my Tito's martini was perfect. Great food, warm service, and a cozy atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

Some of the breweries on tap at the time included Oxbow, Drowned Lands, Threes, and Monkish. Interest cocktail menu. Solid selection of whiskeys too. We picked up a large takeout order. Everything was packed neatly and there were no errors. I had the fried chicken sandwich came with potato poppers. Came with pickles and aioli on a brioche bun. Pricey at $21. Chicken was crispy and juicy. It traveled fairly well on our 10 minute trip from the restaurant. I also tried the periogies as well as the stuffed pepper and fries which came with a couple different entrees. All in all, definitely a tier above nearly all tavern food. Staff was very personable and accommodating while we waited for our order. Modern yet cozy atmosphere. Sleek bar with a huge counter. Large communal table by the bar. I would rate the food and experience a 7/10. One thing to note is that the restaurant has a 90-minute dining limit. Guests are expected to order everything upfront because once the time is up, you may not have the opportunity to order additional items, including dessert. This was my first time experiencing a time limit at a restaurant, so it felt a bit rushed at times. For appetizers, the Honey Garlic wings were very flavorful and cooked perfectly. The Shrimp Tempura arrived extremely hot, which made it difficult to eat right away, but unfortunately it lacked a bit of seasoning and flavor. The Shrimp and Grits was definitely one of the standout dishes of the night. It arrived piping hot and full of flavor. I actually burned my mouth taking the first bite because it was served so fresh, but overall it was delicious. The Oxtail with Mac and Cheese was another enjoyable combination. The oxtail had a good traditional flavor, although it did not include beans. My only complaint was that the portion size felt small for the price. My husband ordered the steak and fries, which was fine but nothing particularly memorable. As for drinks, the cocktails were overpriced, and surprisingly the mocktails felt even more expensive for what they offered. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try dessert. Once our dining time was up, our waitress brought the check without asking if we wanted dessert to-go. She appeared focused on assisting another table, so it gave the impression that once your time is over, it's time to leave. Overall, while there were a few dishes I truly enjoyed -- especially the Shrimp and Grits -- I personally would not return for dine-in considering the pricing and time restrictions. Spending over $300 for two people on fairly standard Caribbean/American dishes did not feel fully worth the experience. However, I would absolutely order the Shrimp and Grits again for takeout.
