Friends told us about Repeal and wanted to try. We came after 7:30 on a Saturday night, not too crowded. It was a nice pub with a comfortable atmosphere. We were welcomed and seated immediately. Eric came over and asked us what we wanted to order. We asked for Blue Moon, but they did not have them on tap so he suggested another, don't recall the name but it was good. For dinner I had the Cowboy Chicken Wrap with a side salad, my wife had the special a Chicken Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries. Both our meals were awesome, and my wife said the fries were great. The food was fair to poor. It took forever to arrive. (About 15 minutes for a cup of coffee and 20-25 for our main. It was cold. Very cold and The lobster mac & cheese with truffles was swimming in oil. The waitress was very nice but completely overwhelmed. She literally took our order and did came back once to drop the coffee, once for the main and we sent three different people to find her for our dessert and check. We asked for sugar and cream and it took about another 10 minutes. We were waiting for dessert and the check and sent three separate people to find her, but no one else that came to help her. There way too many bus people trying to clear our main while we were still waiting for salt and pepper. When we tried to enter from the main street, there was a sign on the door (which we did not read), but the waiter was pretty harsh by telling us go outside and read the sign again. I'm not letting you in this door. The decorations were beyond overwhelming. It looks like someone threw up a rainbow on the ceiling, walls and floor. It was very overwhelming, as if the designer had a DDDD and could not decide on the theme so just threw everything under the sun on the floor walls and ceiling. We went here with friends who had been there before but not recently. It seems there is a new chef and the menu was an about face from what they had eaten before. We ordered the short rib and cheese sandwich which was fantastic. Very rich but delicious! The shrimp tacos which came cold and had no flavor. And the chili nachos. The nachos were a huge portion and very good but that short rib sandwich was definitely the hit of the meal. I don't know how long ago the chef changed but the menu on this site is nothing like the one we received. There were only 4 meal choices and the balance was sandwiches and other snacks. Went here tonight with another couple and even though there was a big friendly crowd, only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated by a very kind, friendly, accommodating manager, Terry. If you are going to dine in, make sure to go on the side where they have the benches/chairs not the one by the bar. We waited a while to get served because of this. I have visited Repeal a few times during the past 6 months. The male crowd watches sports tuned into 3 or 4 different programs. The men are enthusiastic and lively but not so loud to interfere with conversation with my friend. Bartender (Jimmy?) always provides a generous pour of red wine for me. The food is fresh, well-prepared and tasty. Service is very quick. Every small plate I have tried is delicious. My favorite is short ribs quesadilla. Second visit- same cozy environment - local pub doing a great job at providing a family friendly restaurant experience ( I love seeing the young families w/ their kids w/ them- it provides a dash of hope in a weary soul) Our server was a bright young lady who really knew her job as a server & ambassador for the business. We really enjoyed the Rib Sampler ( with nicely prepared red cabbage slaw) on the specials menu & not fancy but by no means subpar sandwiches French Dip & Buffalo Chicken thingie . Very Tasty. Staff was lovely. The woman who was our server treated us so nicely. She told us she was leaving and that was disappointing because she helped make the experience so nice. The short rib grilled cheese is amazing! Completely recommend! It's so good but it's heavy so I don't think you'll want an appetizer or something first because you will be stuffed. The nachos were also pretty good. I would get them again if I was sharing with a bunch of people but not just for me. Personally I thought the shrimp tacos had no flavor. The shrimp were nice and big and there were 3 tacos so good dinner size but again, no flavor. They were boring. Plus,They came out cool, I won't say cold. But definitely not hot or even warm. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would. This place is a strong 4 stars in my opinion!! The ambiance is super cozy in the back with a great standard bar in the front. Great for coming in to grab a beer or wanting to formally sit down and stay awhile. We ordered a few rounds of beer, and 80/20 wings, Brussels sprouts and burger. 80/20 wings were absolutely delightful and a welcomed twist on a true bar classic. We had no idea what it was but our waitress informed us they're usually very popular and they didn't disappoint by any means. We admittedly were a little too full for the Brussels so brought those home. They were lovely and very well done. Burger was standard but cooked perfectly. The easiest 10/10 & 5 star review to write! The staff were phenomenal and very attentive. The food was so good that I couldn't even get a picture before we started eating. We had chipotle honey wings (AMAZING), the chicken quesadillas, sliders (prob the best sliders I've gotten at a restaurant), and the French onion soup. We were already talking about coming back before we even finished our food. The restaurant was clean and spaced out so we didn't feel like we were on top of anyone. My family and I came here last night at around 6pm. Even though it was crazy busy for Valentine's Day weekend, we still received excellent service. My family and I all enjoyed the drinks we got. I got the Repeal Punch which was tropical and refreshing. For appetizers we ordered the sticky ribs, pretzilla, and chicken wings with chipotle honey sauce. The sticky ribs was the standout dish with the barbecue sauce and crushed peanuts on top. It reminded me of Cantonese barbecue pork. The chipotle honey sauce for the wings however, left a lot to be desired, as they wings were totally flavorless. Get Buffalo or barbecue wings instead. For the main mail I got the short rib dinner which was fantastic! I was also able to switch out the whipped potatoes with fries as I am lactose intolerant. I recently held my group's holiday party here. It was great. The host and waiters were so friendly and the food was yummy. I would say the appetizers are a mix of bar food and family style. The app that really blew me away was the calamari. It was so fresh and seasoned to perfection. I forgot there were other amazing app; the bacon and the pretzel. The pretzel was baked to perfection. After seeing Repeal pop up on Yelp and Instagram many times, my friend and I were in need of a quick spot for dinner and we decided to try it. It was a Sunday around 8, so the bar was fairly empty and being that it was a nice night out, we opted for outdoor seating in the back. There are about 4-5 tables outside with umbrellas, so on a sunny day it would still be nice and comfortable. The only thing we both didn't like were the chairs; hard metal and not comfortable. I could imagine in the day time that they get scorching hot as well. Onto the food, there were many menu options that seemed very appealing. We decided we would order two entrees and split them. We went with the short rib grilled cheese and the grilled chicken sandwich. Originally we picked the stuffed chicken breast, but after ordering we were informed that they ran out. No biggie, it happens. The food came out fairly quickly, and everything looked delicious. The short rib grilled cheese sandwich was on Texas toast and stuffed with pulled short rib, caramelized onions, American cheese, and Swiss cheese. The sandwich was divine. The meat was perfectly seasoned and the cheese was an excellent mix and compliment to the short rib. Not a ton of onions, just the right amount. I personally like thinner bread, but that's just a personal preference. Still phenomenal. The sweet potato fries were perfect as well-cut nice and thin and cooked crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The grilled chicken sandwich was also really good, but the gravy was a bit too salty. There also was no mention of gravy on the menu when we selected this dish, but had it been less salty it would have been fine...still good nonetheless. We substituted the French fries for mashed potatoes with this dish and they were very good. They had a very homemade taste which was nice. Located in the small village area of Garden City on New Hyde Park Road. Small parking lot in the back as well as a public lot across the street. We recently came for brunch with our young son. They have the whole menu open along with a small brunch menu, but packed with excellent options. You can get the bottomless brunch for $35 that includes unlimited mimosas and bloody Marys. They're only $3 if choose not to go with the unlimited option. Our group went with the farmers frittatas and the steak & eggs. Loved both! The home fries they are served come nice and crunchy and with diced up peppers and onions. My son ordered the chicken fingers and fries and ate them all up. Oh and I am lost forgot the pretzilla... wow, so good, we should have ordered two of them. Service was very friendly and quick. The food is great, the people are even better. Teri and Eric have been helping us and providing an amazing and exciting experience for years, as has the rest of the staff. This is my go to place for a quiet happy hour with coworkers when we get out at 3PM to blow off some steam from the week. Tom behind the bar has a great memory, and pours all of our go-to beers for us before we even ask. He remembers the food ive gotten and even special orders, like a side of honey mustard or an extra sour cream depending on what I feeling getting that day. The food is great, by the way. I've really liked everything Ive ever gotten there. I was told the owners also own Swingbelly's, which is my favorite BBQ place in Long Beach, so you know you're getting good stuff.
