This was a cute speakeasy with a really intimate, moody vibe. The space is very dark, which adds to the atmosphere and gives it that classic speakeasy feel. The service was prompt and attentive, though it did feel a bit rushed at times, as if they were trying to move things along quickly. The drinks were nicely made and enjoyable, clearly showing care in the cocktails themselves. However, the experience would be much more complete with a food menu. Even a small selection of bites would complement the drinks and encourage guests to stay longer. Have been a few times and have enjoyed various cocktail creations. Awesome drinks with a great vibe. Upon entering the brightly lit restaurant Reyla, the host guided us to the basement where Laylow resides, a dark and cozy contrary to upstairs. I was excited to see the Christmas decor and the seasonal cocktail menu did not disappoint. The friendly server helped us pick our drinks and each one was delicious. It felt intimate and the perfect place to catch up with friends, though I can't wait to come back when a DJ is there. Very cool and unique spot! read more

It was great spending my birthday at Laylow! Located in downtown AP, three of us came here after dinner and had a fun time. I love that the drink menu comes in a CD case. Been here twice now. Both experiences were good. The ambiance is super cool and dark. They have cool seating and bar seating too. In addition to their cocktails they offer some snacks/light bites. I got a gin drink that was strong! Service is good. Sometimes there's a wait but surprisingly it was a Friday at 9:30 pm and we got in rather quickly. read more

As far as speakeasys go, this was about what I expected. It was dark, in a basement, and had fancy cocktails. It is actually dark enough that instead of having a little candle on the table, they give you a whole flashlight. If you were alive in the 90s, it might make you feel a certain way about your age - the menu is inside of a CD case and the bill comes clamped into a cassette case. The cocktails were excellent and not outrageously priced. However, the main downside is having to wait in the restaurant upstairs, which feels like the cafeteria in a bus station. read more

This place is located in the basement of a sleek restaurant. It is strictly a bar with no food options, and only canned beers available. 8$ for a small can of beer is a big price to pay. The vibes were okay, but definitely not worth the price tag of the overall bill. Service was prompt however. read more

Neat little place below the Reyla restaurant. The theme is music with the menu being in the CD case and the check coming in a cassette case. It's a nice place to have a couple of drinks with friends as they have comfy seating options all around from couches to swings to lounge chairs. When we went, the service was kinda slow as it seemed there was one guy waiting on all the tables in the place. There are so many cool drink options here. This time around, I went the non alcoholic route and really enjoyed my pineapple/ ginger beer drink. They have custom drinks as well for both non alcoholic and alcoholic. We just went for our second time for an after dinner cocktail. We arrived early and we seated immediately which was appreciated. Our waiter was chill and friendly and service was prompt. I ordered the "In and Out of the Garden" tequila cocktail and it was easily of one my favorite drinks ever. Drinks are definitely pricey but not unexpectedly for the area and the quality. Cute place with a menu filed with specialty cocktails, no beer or wine on the menu. I was able to ask for a beer and they had 3 options. I choose one. The place itself is adorable & dark. The low lights make for a great date night spot. I would definitely come back for a date night. Service was pleasant. Our waiter overly checked on us for a small place just serving drinks. Very cool speakeasy in Asbury! Laylow is located underneath the wonderful REYLA, and there is often a waitlist or a reservation can be recommended (esp on busy nights). The drinks rotate and are creative, custom made by the bartenders. Always delicious and a chill vibe inside. Unexpectedly, there is a lot of space to lounge and lots of low lighting & plants. They also decorate the place seasonally (holiday pop ups!) and rotate the drink menu, which is always full of great cocktail choices. Stopped in to grab a drink with some friends after dining at Reyla for brunch. Loved the dark ambience and speakeasy vibe. It truly felt like you were being transported to the 1920's when the staff brought us downstairs. The menu features many different speciality cocktails and includes a couple mocktail options. It's in Asbury Park. I live in Jersey City. It's an hour and ten minutes away. Jersey City has bars, but not like this one. Drove down in the pouring December rain right after work last week. It's always a blast to go for Sleighlow and Leilow, Christmas vibes and tiki vibes respectively. The drinks are amazing and the ambience is top notch. It's a true speakeasy, not that half hearted stuff you see everywhere now. The staff are super cool and attentive. If you find yourself nearby (2 hours or less), come on by and check it out! read more

Cool little speakeasy concept in the basement of Reyla. You just go to reyla and lay low has their own host to bring you down. This summer was a tiki theme with tons of rum drinks including a strong and tasty Mai Thai. The trail mix is housemade and pretty solid. My tequila drink came in a fish but didn't have a ton of tequila flavor. Our server was great. We will be back. read more

Never knew this place existed even though I've eaten at Reyla. Definitely a must go to! Speakeasies aren't common in the area, and this one was super unique. Great little hideaway!! Great assortment of drinks, the trail mix is awesome! Went here for their Tikieasy season . Love the ambience, dimly little and light music. Love how the drink menu is in old music cd cases! They also have beer and wine . They also bring your check in an old music cassette holder. Good nostalgia! Honestly the service is Hit or Miss. Not horrible but the few times we went we actually sat at the tiny little tables. Ben. Our server was awesome! Very social, gave some recommendations on drinks and a very good server. One time we went we sat at the bar and the service was mediocre. Bartender not super friendly-could have been a little better, But it did not ruin the experience. We would never know about this place if we didn't see somebody else post it on Tiktok. Glad we found it! Love the spin on the phrase "lay low" with this place! A hidden gem, we had no idea it existed until our bartender upstairs told us about it. I'm not sure if they offer food here! The drinks were refreshing and fun! Even the presentation of the menu is a hit! They do themes throughout the year to keep things fresh. I'll definitely be back! I really enjoyed this place. I don't remember the name of my server but he was fantastic! He was very friendly, took the time to answer your questions and extremely informative. The prices are typical fancy cocktail prices and the drinks aren't the biggest but they are good. I love that the bill came inside a cassette case, how unique! I also love the outdoor seating area. This place is great, You Need to check it out! We've been here twice since the reopening and a bunch more times before COVID forced them to close. Pip, Jamie, & Trevor are personable and knowledgeable. Everyone has been friendly and attentive. The drinks are well balanced and never too sweet. Our favorite drinks are El Monstruo (comes with an avocado popsicle. It's not just a drink it's a cocktail experience), Champion of the sun (rye whiskey + red wine float tastes better with each sip), Makai Sour (don't be scared that the only liquor is Mezcal. It's surprising refreshing and not overly smoky), Lunch box old fashioned (peanut washed bourbon and peanut foam are delicious). We would also recommend their Bardega Cocktail club. You supply the liquor and they supply everything else. We've made drinks using ingredients we normally wouldn't. It's been a lot of fun. read more

I've been wanting to come try it for a while now and finally got the chance with my husband and brother in law. It's beneath Reyla and you get into it through Reyla. It's definitely a speakeasy type vibe. There's a bar you can sit at or a lounge area with couches and tables all spread out. The menu is nothing like you've ever seen before. They have an old fashion that tastes like a PB&J because they fat wash their bourbon in peanut oil. I got to have a spicy mezcal drink with an avocado popsicle! All their cocktails are incredibly thought out and handmade to perfection with time and finesse. All of the bartenders were incredibly nice. We had the luxury of sitting up at the bar and got to watch them make all of the amazing drinks. The rest of the staff is also nice and very attentive. The ambiance is great but unfortunately it is poorly managed. The hostess insists on making you wait to get down to the bar. You can elect to be added to the so called waitlist by scanning a cd case with your phone. Even though the bar was not crowded they could not do away with the pretentious air of escorting you the bar. They turn away paying customers. I had recommend this place to others but will never do so again. Not worth it. There are other better places in Asbury. read more

Fun and inventive cocktails is my favorite cocktail lounge. Add on top of that a place that can be inventive and not have horrible cocktails deserves real praise. Cocktail prices are average 12 to 15 dollars. If it wasnt for covid and the fact I had to commute. I would love to just hang out there and go through the menu of drinks and try them all. I find that while a lot of restaurants offer salmon, few prepare it as well as the offering Moonstruck has here, being perfectly cooked and well seasoned with everything seasoning. It's such a cute place, and the views of Wesley Lake are beautiful. We were lucky enough to sit outside on a beautiful night and had a delicious dinner. We shared a Moroccan-spiced shrimp appetizer special, and then I had another shrimp special as my main (crab-stuffed), and my husband had the filet mignon. Everything was great, and our server was fantastic (I believe his name was Michael). We will definitely be back the next time we are in town.

No, you won't be thinking crustaceans, but it was closer to the Yacht Rock Revue's remake of "Baker Street" than the vile Joss Stone cover of "Fell In Love With A Girl." With an unexpectedly strong performances by hearts of palm, it was a reasonable emulation of the paradigm even if it could have been a tiny bit crustier and more Old Bayish. The Yelp consensus gets it wrong with the ricotta toast, which was fine but not essential. I assume the brunchier brand extensions are more notable than the flagship. Don't miss the fermented chili carbonara. I'm not even going to paraphrase the wild list of ingredients: "hand-cut ramen, house fermented fresno chili paste, garlic, ginger, tamari, benton's bacon, sous vide egg, parm, chive." Less shocking but still enjoyable is the Beekeeper's Lament pizza. After the above feast, this dessert agnostic tried to nope out, but the teacup brulee had an impeccable citrus vibe. With other desserts promising fennel ice cream and cardamom cherries, a glance at the menu feels like a Marvel closing credits bit that compels one to anticipate the future.

The Spicy Bee (I think that was it) was the perfect balance of pepper and orange. There's black & white movies playing on a screen in the corner which had me fascinated and I wish I knew what movie it was. The lighting is low and the decor makes you feel you might be sitting in a speakeasy. 2 drinks and 2 paninis came out to ~ $80 with tip, so it is pricey but it's worth it.

The sushi is fresh and tasty, we enjoyed the seared scallop appetizer. My sushi (Tiger roll) was magnificent. The Yuzu lobster roll could have had a bit less rice in the roll but was otherwise very enjoyable. The combination of fish in this roll paired very nicely together. Taka has a vast menu with many options from appetizers to specialty sushi options. They provide alcoholic and non alcoholic mocktails for those of us not interested in consuming liquor.....the mocktails are fantastic. The only thing that made me rate 4 instead of 5 stars was the staff needs a bit of work on serving. We ordered an appetizer and were also given two additional small plates since we were sharing this item. When we were done with the appetizer our specialty sushi plates were bought out and the same server left the three empty plates from the appetizers on the table instead of removing them. Dessert was absolutely decadent and moist (I omitted the whipped cream since I don't like it) but the shortcake was perfect without it. I look forward to returning to Taka and trying more items on the menu.
