What a cool place. Hidden in the basement of an Ice cream shop, password on website. This place has the perfect vibe for folks over 30. Just a place that everyone who is here wants to be here and have a great time. The place has history as an actual speak-easy of the 20's Great music, cool drinks, great staff. Outside area for those smoke/vapors. A great place we will visit often. Come for drinks, stay for the vibe.

Had a great time at Charlotte's Speakeasy. We didn't have a reservation so we couldn't get a table, but standing at the bar wasn't terrible. Nice decor inside. Our bartenders were great and attentive. My husband tried the Old Fashion Bootlegger and I couldn't stop myself and had myself 3 supernaturals. For a bite, we had La Besta Pizza which was really good.

Changing my previous rating after hanging here last night - 2 factors changed my rating - 1 the waitress Mel was amazing !!! She was so attentive and super friendly. 2 met the owner Nick he was so sweet - he gave us the entire history of the building during prohibition- even gave us a tour. I love history, so I was super excited. He checked in on each table and stayed on the floor the entire night. The band that was playing was really good. I didn't have high hopes for the food, but everything was delish, we had wings, pizza, clams, caprese salad. I can't wait to return - I would love to come in the summer to enjoy the huge outdoor area - FYI There is a $5 entry fee per person (cash only)

View from our booth. Live music to the left.

Very cool place Good vibe as soon as we walked in. Drinks were delicious. Live music a bonus. A must try. Will go back.

We had the best time here. We were a group of 11 and were seated right by the band. They were awesome. We sang, we danced, ate and had some post dinner ice-cream for dessert upstairs. The food was surprisingly good. I think they might get it from Vespa next door. We had the rice balls, stuffed mushrooms, burrata, stuffed clams and pizza. The drinks were lovely. Jordan, our server was great. All around great experience. If I had to nitpick on one thing, it would be the big signs in front that say, "Charlotte's Speakeasy". The appeal to going to a speakeasy is its secrecy. It didn't take away from our great time. It was a really fun night out with the girls. Thanks Nick, John & Jordan.

I'm shocked this is only ranked #5 for cocktail bars (and #2 for speakeasy) in my area. I've been here a few times, both pre and post COVID and I will say it's easily one of the best (since C&K has closed - RIP) I love the speakeasy vibe, and Charlotte's is the real deal. Located below a functioning Frozen Yogurt storefront, it's very niche to go through the bookcase and downstairs to an intimate bar. I always order an Old Fashioned as my first drink in places like these, and do judge based on how the drink comes out. This was a home run. Not too sweet (I like them boozy) and none of that muddled fruit sh*t you get in so many places. Enjoyed it so much that I asked the bartender (who I realized after the fact I knew through a mutual friend) to surprise me and was blown away. Didn't even want to know what was in it. Went on a night when there was a live jazz band playing, and it totally added to that ambiance and vibe. Ordered a pizza to nosh on, and it totally hit the mark as well. The ONLY speakeasy worth going to in Farmingdale, and quite possibly on the whole island at this point.

We had a really awesome experience at Charlotte's. The atmosphere is classy, cool and laid back. The service is amazing. The drinks are next level and the food is pretty good! The live music is fun and entertaining. It all combines to a great evening out! The sweetest part is leaving and grabbing some dessert on the way out.

Took my boyfriend here for a date night and completely surprised him with the speakeasy! The band was excellent, drinks were creative and delicious. We were even given an impromptu tour!! The space was so cool and we loved learning about the history. One of a kind!!!

I really like this bar that's actually a speakeasy from the prohibition (that's when you couldn't drink booze eh drinks)!! Food is probably good, actually very good. Leah is nice. Vibes are chill I think. Thanks Nick D for being a very great host!!!!

Having fun

Awesome music, decent drinks..... all about the great vibe Women Soul. Excellent group. Love them!

I went to Charlotte's with my husband and my parents last night. It was a fun time had by all. The vibe, the jazz band, the drinks and the waitstaff were all awesome!! Sienna was our waitress, her uplifting personality immediately puts you in a good place. Rod, the person who needs the password and lets you in was very friendly and funny as well. The jazz band Paumanock Stompers played for about 3 hours and were all amazing and very talented. We will definitely be coming back.

The bar full of fun.

Concept is nice but the place is really small and over crowded. Served food without plates or eating utensils. Disappointed

Ask the Community - Charlotte's Speakeasy

I would like to bring a mixed group here - those who drink and those who do not. Do you offer any mocktails beyond just juices and sodas?

We do offer mocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.

Do you have an open Mike night? If, so what day and time.

we have live music every night we are open. We do not do an open mike night .

Place looks amazing and would love to visit this Saturday! Curious about a few things though.. do they social distance the tables? It's seems really crowded in all the pictures...…

You don’t need a reservation to come in. Walk-ins welcome! Reservations are available for the tables and you can call in advance for those, but reservations are not needed for entry into the bar.… Read more

What's the "password" needed to get by the bouncer? I've been there once before but I was part of a larger group. I'm eager to go back, please let me know!

Wow..... what a disappointment.... I had been looking online for a place with good ol' southern…read morefried chicken, Most of what I found was "skinless," which to me, defeats the point of getting fried chicken! I admit it, I love the skin! We ordered a bucket of 8 pieces, and chose mac and cheese and cole slaw. We also ordered a side of jalapeno corn bread. There's really no good news here. The chicken was so dry inside, we couldn't eat it and thrw out all 8 pieces. The mac and cheese wasn't terrible, but I've certainly had better. It too was dry, and was basically one big piece of mac and cheese. The cole slaw was..... interesting. It was an odd pinkish color (red cabbage?) with really no sauce that I could find. My hunt for great fried chicken,,,, withnthe damned skin on..... continues.

I ordered the sweet potato bowl with brisket, tomatoes and onions. I had one drink, whiskey pig bourbon, was very good. The restaurant has a fun cocktail list and a lot of bourbons. Can't wait to take my husband here

I do apologize for the backdated review. I can't believe I forgot to post it. My experience was…read moreexcellent. Me and my date went on 11/26. Service was amazing. Food was delicious and the drinks were fabulous. Thanksgiving Eve met up with my date at Nunzi's It was giving "Hot Stuff" -- literally. I walk in with my date, and before my coat even unbuttons, Donna Summer herself is serenading me like I'm about to strut down a disco runway. Perfect timing. We were the first ones in the restaurant, which honestly made me feel like they opened the whole establishment just for my convenience. The host said, "Pick any table." Baby, don't threaten me with a good time. I saw that corner booth--cute, cozy, and prime real estate for flirting like I'm auditioning for a romantic comedy--and I claimed it like the last good parking spot at Target. The vibe? Oh, this restaurant is so my ministry. Trendy, modern, dimly lit like they're doing me a personal favor. If you're a social media fanatic like me. The entire décor is basically screaming, "Make a reel, post a story, take a selfie sis." The soundtrack? Disco, 70s and 80s R&B, a sprinkle of house. My favorite genres. The stuff that makes you want to shimmy your shoulders while pretending you're not checking out your date's jawline. The drinks? Oh honey... I ordered a blueberry lavender margarita because lavender is my personality at this point. My date got a banana Jameson old fashioned. I asked for a sip, took a sip, then instantly contemplated snatching his whole glass and telling him to order something else. It was that good. I asked the waiter about the pineapple infused vodka. "Can you taste the alcohol?" He said, "No, and that's the problem." I said, "Say less." Sold. LMAO. Had it in a martini fashion. Now for the food. We started with the Oh My Garlic Bread. Except... Oh My, what happened? The cheese was barely melted and the bread wasn't toasted enough. I wanted feral, unhinged, cheese-pull, toasted bread madness. I got "this could've been great but someone clocked out early." Sadness. It did come with a side of their delicious sauce and spicy vodka sauce. But THEN... that fried burrata came out like Beyoncé at the Superbowl. Melty, gooey, fried perfection. Cheese is my favorite food group and that burrata had me emotionally compromised. We also got Grandma's Meatballs. Delicious and they held their own and in chunky tomato sauce, with a dollop of ricotta? Mama mia, yes. For pasta, the server suggested the spicy rigatoni or the linguine bolognese. We went bolognese, and baby... that plate was giving comfort, warmth, cozy blanket energy. Delicious. Finished the night with the chocolate chip cookie sundae. Great ending, but listen--at an Italian restaurant, my middle-aged spirit WANTED tiramisu or a cannoli. I'm traditional like that. Overall? Five glittery stars. I will absolutely be back--probably dragging my work bestie for a happy hour where we judge men and eat fried cheese.
