Wonderful to be back at a bar that knows for to mix! A truly delicious Dutch Kill Old Fashioned! Love the decor, food, drinks and owners.

This place is a true diamond in the rough that is the growing Lindenhurst downtown. From their carefully curated adventure seeker décor, to their friendly welcoming small town bar service. We started our night here, to give our tastebuds their full range to experience the craftsmanship that follows their mixologist Jon. Their "Almost summer" margarita is a masterclass in balance and flavor, with just the right amount of sweet and tanginess combined with a pineapple garnish topped with toasted coconut that elevates the experience. But the real showstopper is the espresso martini - rich, smooth, and velvety, with a depth of flavor that will leave you wondering how they managed to pack so much complexity into a single glass. The attention to detail, decor and craftsmanship at Hunter and Thief is unparalleled, making it a must-visit destination for any cocktail enthusiast.

Atmosphere: Saturday night ..music was over the top loud so patrons had to yell to hear each other...waitress was asked to lower the music which she obliged but it was still loud for this pretty small place Tables too crowded together. Service: waitress was excellent...she was the only one taking orders but she was not riled at all...and attentive. Limited food menu... Burger was good and so were the onion rings and French fries. Drink menu extension and very good. The atmosphere is the only thing stopping us from returning.... WAY TOO LOUD. Especially if you're going with friends to catch up.... Can't hear each other. Oh and one of the employees shaking up drinks walked by us and his body odor almost knocked me off my chair.

Nice addition to the Lindy scene. Good atmosphere and strong drinks. For food get the bread and butter and for drinks I recommend the Reflection of Natural History. Slightly pricey but so is everything now. At least the quality is high so I'm ok with it. Park on the side street next to it and enjoy.

    Poutine

Second time here and it just keeps getting better. The poutine was awesome--the fries were loaded with gravy and cheese but still had that perfect crunch. Kinda wish there was a little more protein in the mix, but no complaints. The drink was so good it had me wondering why I don't come here more often. And our waitress was super friendly, really attentive, and even helped me figure out the menu around my food allergy.

Seemed like a cool spot with cool drinks and food so we stopped into check it out. The space itself was amazing to look at, it even had a Photo Booth. I could see their vision immediately. Drink menu was as eclectic as the decor but not fairly balanced. 1/2 the menu was Old Fashions and the others were well curated but extremely tequila heavy. Im usually a vodka drinker when I go out but the more interesting drinks were the Old Fashions and the ones with tequila so I chose the most fabulous sounding drink on the menu which was called Reflections of Natural History (their version of a spicy strawberry margarita) I liked it, I didn't love it. I wasn't getting strawberry at all and was disappointed because the ingredient was supposed to be a fermented strawberry which I was looking forward to. Let's move on to the food. Again, on paper, eclectic and intriguing in theory but a little different in practice. We ordered the toast with peaches and ricotta, it had a nice smoky flavor but the peaches were not ripe so had no taste and the chili part was missing. It would have been perfect had the peaches and chili been right and where was the honey? We also ordered the empanadas which were ok, nothing special, and the zucchini. The zucchini, I don't know what they were thinking, it was just slightly grilled zucchini with a few tomatoes & onions with some whipped ricotta on the plate. The zucchini pissed me off a little bit because I could have thrown some zucchini in my air fryer and it would have been better than that. I can't believe we paid for that. This place has so much potential because it can be a whole vibe but the food needs work. They can keep the menu as is but they need to upgrade their ingredients in a major way.

Consistently excellent, I'm not sure how they manage to make every visit a masterpiece in modern entertaining. This is a place we go when we need comfort food and uplifting & inspiring drinks. It's not so much a bar-restaurant as it has the feel more of a very cool person's extended living room cluttered with antiques, oddities, art and fresh flowers. A must go experience with standout burgers, fish & chips, fried chicken sandwich and delicious vegetarian options as well.

Stopped in on Saturday night Was able to sit at the bar. They have amazing cocktail menu ranging from $15-20 Not much beer options just two. Food was great we tried ricotta toast, hummus and the burger. All tasty and perfect size portion Looking forward to going back

This is truly a unique restaurant with beautiful views! The decor is like no other restaurant on the island that I have been to. Also, the cocktails were out of this world. The owners were also nice enough to give us a piece of birthday cake which was very appreciated! But seriously you must go here for a date or a birthday, it's a gem!

We are in Lindy and Hunter and thief has NEVER let us down. They are Easily the best cocktails on the south shore and I mean it if you're into mixology, THE BEST. They know what they're doing and appreciate the art of cocktails; it's not a front or fad. The owner has a well known reputation in competitions and is familiar with spots like death and co. etc. not to mention serves drinks by well known bartending gods such as the Jeffrey Morgenthaler. Anyways I drank a few old fashioned variations, especially the milk and honey WOW. The their amazing BUTTERBEER, as a die hard potter fan, it truly is an amazing version of universals. My husband had their classic natural history, and it always tastes like an upper class margarita. Not to mention he switched to their mystery beers which were so fun and different! Lastly the food has been upgraded. They have their own version of what feels like a classic Italian carbonara with guancaile in egg yolk. It's truly amazing and one of my husband's favorite plates since we visited Italy in 2022. I couldn't be happier we stuck with being local for our 3 year wedding anniversary, almost went to the green door... But MAN IM HAPPY WE DIDNT. In comparison Hunter and thief are far superior. Don't forget their adorable decor! Feels like in back in the city or at a bk speakeasy.

Hunter & Thief is absolutely one of my happy places. The owners put so much passion into every detail from the food, the drinks, and the ambiance. The atmosphere is very inviting and always a good time to be had here. I highly recommend checking them out and guarantee you will want to keep coming back.

As I sit at the bar. This is the place you want to go instead of the city. They know how to make a cocktail. They make it in front of you. Supper fresh ingredients. The staff is amazing. The food. Is delicious. One thing bad is bread is hard. However I soaked that bad boy in the hummus and peach ricottas. Definitely coming back

You can risk parking on the main road, but there are parking lots nearby that are much more convenient. The speakeasy style vibe is very cool and the open bar/kitchen is fun to watch the guys behind it work their magic. Staff were friendly and very helpful, but my one qualm was that our server opted to try and just remember our order by heart rather than writing it down, everything came out right, but he did have to confirm with us that he had the order right. Starting with cocktails, which I think is where this place really shines, I got the pistachio martini and their signature old fashioned. On top of just how pretty the drinks are, they match it with the quality. The old fashioned is one of the better ones I've had and was my favorite of the two, but I'm not sure you can go wrong with any choice on their list! Then for food, we started with the blackened scallops and the pork belly empanadas. Both were tasty but the empanadas were my personal favorite of the two. The scallops felt a little over seasoned, but obviously not to the point of being inedible. For mains, I got the lamb meatballs, and I tried a bit of my girlfriend's steak sandwich. The meatballs and sauce were just as good as any Italian place I've been to and perfect serving size. The steak sandwich though was served on THE softest ciabatta I've ever tasted but still held together well and made for an excellent, albeit huge, sandwich. I think she beat me out by just a hair on this one. I had really wanted to get their grilled cheese and tomato soup, but they had just run out, but I think they were just coming up with an elaborate ruse to get me to come back! Well, it's working, because I will absolutely comeback for more cocktails and that grilled cheese! We sat at the very last table in the restaurant, and this raises my only other concern, when the kitchen doors would swing open, you would get a quick smell of that garbage kind of smell which was a little off putting, but it wasn't constant enough where we were bothered to be asked to move our table, but food for thought. Surfing up just a few small things could easily have this place up to 5 stars from 4.

Whether dining in or ordering takeout, the food takes far longer than expected. Takeout orders are routinely 15 minutes or more past the quoted pickup time, which is frustrating when you're planning your day around their estimate. Service has also been inconsistent. The waitstaff often seems disorganized, and communication regarding delays is lacking. I understand restaurants get busy, but after multiple visits, the same problems keep occurring.
