While visiting Lindenhurst NY, out of all the other restaurants that I passed, I thought it would be a great idea to stop by The Green Door, being that I came here for the secret party. I'll work back with this!! I ordered the bone marrow fries and the crab and scallop ricotta croquette pappardelle. I received a huge dish of bone marrow fries and immediately knew that it was too much for me to consume in this setting. The bone marrow fries were not too bad a little salty in some areas. The crab and scallop pappardelle & ricotta croquette and pappardelle pasta was okay as well. This dish was soothing and not too harsh for my stomach and offered a mild flavor. So when I walked in with my casual attire "all eyes on me" as I stood there to wait for an employee to approach me because I didn't know the procedures, whether I should just grab a seat or not. A Caucasian couple walked in behind me as I was waiting and came and stood in front of me. The guy behind the bar comes around gives them a seat and stood by me asking how can he help me. After I told him my business there he told me to have a seat. I recognize Mike and introduced myself. He welcome me back and tension was lifted a little but all the while I was there it was awkward for a brown person to sit alone and dine in. Interaction from the staff just felt forced. I wasn't expected preferential treatment just equal treatment. Normally I'd walk out just like the 6 people that came in and walked out while I was sitting. I really want to give 3 stars but I will let the consistency of 4 to 5 stars continue. Although there are two ratings lower than 3 stars. We attended an event here in September where the food, drinks, servie, and ambiane were much to our liking. We returned Friday night for HH and on a whim called a local Yelp friend and made it a UYE. Lisa and our friend had olive oil martinis, friend's partner the charred pineapple old fashioned, and I had a new cocktail menu drink which was a Manhattan up made with 12 year scotch instead of rye. The drink was delicious and the scotch added some great complexity and a bit of spice. When we arrived around 5PM and had our choice of bar or table. We sat at the bar and within an hour busy enough that there were groups standing at chairless high tops waiting for seating. Highly recommend this elevated cocktail bar that offers some live music and a speakeasy experience right in the cozy space right off of the highway, a hop from the Lindenhurst LIRR station. While we attended a wonderful YELP event a short while ago, we had to make a plan to return, as it is not in our general area. The drinks are well made & beautifully served and the team is very attentive. I enjoyed at both visits, the Olive Oil Martini, made with Gin instead of Vodka, with a delightfully herbaceous oil drizzle that compliments an otherwise boring Martini. Came here for my birthday dinner on a late Sunday, we were only a party of 4 but I'd recommend a reservation since the place is on the small side. You can risk parking on the main road, but there are parking lots nearby that are much more convenient. The speakeasy style vibe is very cool and the open bar/kitchen is fun to watch the guys behind it work their magic. Staff were friendly and very helpful, but my one qualm was that our server opted to try and just remember our order by heart rather than writing it down, everything came out right, but he did have to confirm with us that he had the order right. Starting with cocktails, which I think is where this place really shines, I got the pistachio martini and their signature old fashioned. On top of just how pretty the drinks are, they match it with the quality. The old fashioned is one of the better ones I've had and was my favorite of the two, but I'm not sure you can go wrong with any choice on their list! Then for food, we started with the blackened scallops and the pork belly empanadas. Both were tasty but the empanadas were my personal favorite of the two. The scallops felt a little over seasoned, but obviously not to the point of being inedible. For mains, I got the lamb meatballs, and I tried a bit of my girlfriend's steak sandwich. The meatballs and sauce were just as good as any Italian place I've been to and perfect serving size. The steak sandwich though was served on THE softest ciabatta I've ever tasted but still held together well and made for an excellent, albeit huge, sandwich. I think she beat me out by just a hair on this one. I had really wanted to get their grilled cheese and tomato soup, but they had just run out, but I think they were just coming up with an elaborate ruse to get me to come back! Well, it's working, because I will absolutely comeback for more cocktails and that grilled cheese! We sat at the very last table in the restaurant, and this raises my only other concern, when the kitchen doors would swing open, you would get a quick smell of that garbage kind of smell which was a little off putting, but it wasn't constant enough where we were bothered to be asked to move our table, but food for thought. I first discovered The Green Door during a Yelp event not too long ago, and I enjoyed it so much that I had to come back with my fiancé for lunch! The vibe here is great; warm, inviting, and a little upscale without being stuffy. It's also fun to watch the action in the open-style kitchen right next to the bar, where you can see dishes being prepared fresh. Food-wise, the bone marrow fries were absolutely delish...rich, savory, and perfectly crisp. The crab and scallop pappardelle was another standout, creamy and full of flavor. The filet stack was delicious too, though on the smaller side, my fiancé said he would consider it more of a small plate than a full entrée. Drinks were solid across the board. The Prohibition Punch was light and refreshing, and the Tiramisu martini hit that perfect dessert note. I also had an espresso martini, which our waiter actually took off the bill because he didn't like how it came out after/while he was making it, but honestly, I still enjoyed it! What it lacked in the speakeasy feel it made up for in the food. My husband LOVED the lamb & pork belly sliders. Said he would definitely get those again. My dish was absolutely delicious. The chicken literally fell off the bone and the plantains were perfectly cooked and seasoned. He enjoyed his martini but felt it could have been a little better (usually has it with grey whale gin). The Green Door is located North of Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst. It's a new restaurant with a sexy vibe. I enjoyed 3 dishes. The stacked eggplant was delicious with a slightly spicy red sauce. Lamb meatballs had great texture with a heavy presence of pecorino-Romano cheese served with grilled bread for dipping in red sauce. Lastly, the bone marrow fries which was my least favorite. Although I enjoyed the shoestring style of the fries, I didn't enjoy the taste. For dessert, the crème brûlée was ok. It lacked the "custard" density or maybe needed refrigeration for a longer period of time. The staff was attentive and did a great job checking up on us. The Prohibition Punch was refreshing. I ordered their Forbidden Daiquiri (Rum based), and watching it being made was almost as enjoyable as drinking it. Around 9 PM, a local Jazz duo took the small corner stage and absolutely set an amazing tone that made you feel like you were in a scene right out of a 1920's classical film. It's rare to find a place that strikes that perfect balance between entertainment and intimacy, but The Green Door nailed it. Had a great time - although I was a bit thrown off because I thought it was supposed to be a speakeasy - it's a restaurant with a lounge vibe. From the moment you walk in you feel welcomed as the staff is extremely friendly. We had reservations but sat at the bar to have a drink while waiting on the rest of our party to show - this is a craft bar, so the attention to detail is top notch - the drinks were amazing - once seated we ordered a ton of appetizers to share - wings, plantains, brussel sprouts, fries, salad, everyone was happy with it, after a few people ordered entrees which they were also happy with. Went to the Green Door recently. I've been there several times. Drinks are always good. However, the same bartender is always cursing, texting on his phone or eating behind the bar. This is the old bacuto restaurant they redid the interior as well as the bathrooms. It's very upscale including their menu. Stopped in for lunch with my daughter. We ordered the steak and burrata and Grueire cheese sandwhich. It was huge. The service outstanding !!!!! Can't wait to come back and try there other menu items. read more

Went with friends for dinner a few weeks ago. The cocktail list was creative with a lot of options. I'm a gin cocktail drinker and had the flower garden mule and the clover club. Both were great with beautiful presentation. The food was excellent! We ordered a bunch of small plates to share, yet the portions were large! The Lamb Meatballs were soft and moist with a flavorful sauce. The beef in the Beef and Reef Skewers was tender and juicy, and the polenta was so good we didn't leave a trace of it on the plate. The Grilled Pulpo (grilled octopus) was cooked perfectly, soft and not chewy. The Peach Buratta Wedge was different than your usual wedge salads with cute mini wedges that were perfect for sharing. Saving the best for last, the Bone Marrow Fries... crispy, just the right amount of salt, and bone marrow dripped all over the top.... Sinfully good!!! I would honestly go back for the fries alone, but luckily everything hit the mark so this is a place I will go back to again and again. The service was also great! Attended this great hidden gem for a Yelp elite event and had such a great time but not only because of the vibe but because the drinks and small plates were amazingly delicious. I was highly impressed with this new speakeasy vibe restaurant out here in Long Island. The location might be easy to miss as they are trying to example the prohibition era of the hidden spots for the sell of alcohol. Therefore it's the "green" sign door as their entrance. Theres pictures to show the era of how this place is inspired. We were able to try their bone marrow fries which I highly recommend!! , as well as their lamb meatballs and pork belly empanadas. I absolutely enjoyed it all. Everything was so flavorful, delicious and cooked to perfection. We sat by the bar and therefore experienced more of the cocktail experience. Our bartender Franco was great. He's very attentive and recommended the drinks we would like based on our alcohol choice. The white lady was my favorite but the other cocktails were just as great. We also had the forbidden daiquiri, tiramisu martini, raspberry chocolate martini and one more drink that I can't remember the actual name- it had lavender. The lavender Collins and chocolate raspberry martini (basically a frozen spiked hot chocolate) are a CANNOT MISS. I went onto Yelp and the Green Door to write a review, but first read the current reviews. I see that a week ago someone wrote pretty much what I will write: the steak sandwich was really bad. The bread was hard in places, and was cut unevenly leaving the bottom too thin and the whole thing fell apart. The steak was like shoe leather. Olive oil made it too greasy, and there was no cheese to be seen. I thought before ordering that if the steak was decent, $27 was a fair price. I ate it, but it was not good. I'm giving them two stars only because the place is nice, and the owner/manager/bartender was nice, and other reviews were good...so I didn't want to totally slam them. I may go back to try something else, as this was the only item I sampled, and it was to go. Tell me you've revamped this steak sandwich and I'll come back and re-review...the fries and beer were good. The previous review I mentioned was written on 7/10, the day I was there. read more

I was really disappointed with our experience. For the prices this restaurant charges, I expected much better quality. I ordered the skirt steak sandwich, and it was one of the worst I've had. The steak was extremely tough, there was very little of it, and the sandwich was mostly peppers, onions, and stale, dry bread. It was difficult to eat and definitely not worth the price. When you're paying premium prices, you expect fresh bread, tender steak, and generous portions. Unfortunately, this meal fell far short of those expectations. I don't get speakeasy vibes tho, it doesn't even look like it was renovated from when it was bakuto, just seems like a regular cocktail bar. The drink menu is great, the food menu is mediocre. I got the pistachio rose martini, pistachio White Russian and the espresso martini float. All were excellent and I can't decide which was my fav. My friend didn't like either of his drinks though. I forgot his second drink but the first was the chocolate Manhattan and neither were good. I got the grilled wings with crispy plantains and my friend got the slider trio. The wings were lacking in flavor but the plantains were very good. They were crispy but not greasy. My friend also didn't like his food. He said the lamb was ok but the other two were chewy and overcooked. There were no dessert options so the espresso martini float was my dessert and it was excellent, it tasted like cookies and cream ice cream. There was only one waitress for a busy Saturday night not too long after opening day so the service was kind of slow but more from the bar then from her and she was very nice but she should have had help. read more

The Filet Medallions were cooked to a perfect medium rare. The bone marrow butter added suck a rich flavor to the meal. The mashed potatoes nice and creamy, with the onions on top. I loved the grilled peaches served with this dish as well. A nicely rounded out meal with much flavor. The Crab and Scallop Pappardelle were a nice combination of seafood prepared in a risotto and fried in a nice light crisp breadcrumb. The pasta was served nicely al dente in a well seasoned pink sauce. Everything was on point. Our server Amber was very attentive. She quickly filled our water glasses, and gave us a few minutes we asked for to look through the very interesting menu, with dishes not offered in other establishments. A very hard task to narrow down what we would like to eat. Once we were ready to order, Amber was right there to take our order. She was quick to serve our wine selections, and brought our meals in a very timely manner. She was a delight to speak with, and very pleasant.
