Also ordered the House-Cured Slab bacon, paired with a blackberry gastrique. Excellent choices I must say. For dinner, we just had to try the Schnitzel. Admittingly, it was hard to decide (all were veal options and there was one chicken option)! I chose the Champignon Rahmschnitzel and hubby got the Jager Schnitzel. Both were topped with sauce and mushrooms - but entirely different. The Rahmschitzel was breaded veal and had a white creamy mushroom sauce. So delicious! And the Jager one was pan-seared veal with a demi-glace sauce. Outstanding as expected...I was literally drooling at every plate that passed me by. Topped my meal with some hard cider and I was golden. Stuffed and happy! Plattduetsche Park is so rich in history and they have established roots in the community going back 100+ years (established in 1901). We were shoulder to shoulder to each other. I had to straddle a table leg because of the way the table was set up. I could not get my chair under the table. There was barely any room for our plates and glasses. Even though it was a Mother's Day event, there was not a kids' menu- which makes no sense bc you know kids will be at this event! Two of our dishes had to be sent back because they were cold. It's nice that they hire the local kids and the service was good. Overall, just a bad experience. When you walk in now, there's a host who escorts you to a table in the main dining area. The first thing you notice is the lighting and that it is WAY too bright. The whole room is so brightly lit that it feels more like a sterile operating room than a brewery where you'd want to hang out for a couple of beers. They've added a full food menu, which is a nice addition, but the entire setup now makes you feel like you're expected to order a meal. It no longer feels like the kind of place where you can just mosey in, grab a beer, find a spot, and hang out for a while. The outdoor area has also been completely covered and now looks almost like a greenhouse. I'm not entirely sure what the experience out there is supposed to be because, despite it being completely empty when we visited, they weren't allowing anyone to sit outside. This is a serious concern I am writing here regarding a staff member at Pier13Hoboken earlier…read moretoday, August 30, 2026, around 2:00 PM. My group consisted of four adults and one child. We arrived at the pier around 1:00 PM and finished eating by 2:00 PM. When we went to collect bags for our food, a staff member at the wristband booth stopped my friend because he did not have a wristband. My friend was unaware of the wristband requirement, as he had been sitting with us the entire time. Previously, another staff member had passed by our table to clear empty bowls and did not mention or inquire about the missing wristband. When my friend told the staff member at the booth that he had been sitting with us the situation escalated. The staff member became belligerent, raised his voice, and clearly became upset with my friend's explanation. The staff member explained that he hadn't seen my friend's wrist because I was blocking the view, which was why no previous warning had been given. He then loudly stated that everyone at the pier is aware that you must have a wristband. Note: My friend did hand over his ID with no issues and got his wrist band from the staff member. At that moment, I felt the staff member was becoming physically aggressive. To avoid confrontation, I advised my friend to walk away. As we did, the staff member shouted, "Yeah, you better walk away." This behavior was unprofessional, intimidating, and made us feel unsafe. We came to Pier13 expecting a welcoming environment, but instead experienced aggression from your staff. I ask that you investigate this incident and take appropriate measures to prevent such conduct in the future. I strongly believe this staff member at the booth is a danger to the people at the pier, especially elderly and children.

These are matchmaker events hosted by Jill, and I know of some neat love stories that came from her events. I had actually been meaning to go to another Jillin It Event for some time, but for various it just never quite aligned. Example, I might have gone to Elicit Brewery over in Black Rock for the Valentine's Day event less than three months back, but I was in the height of recovering from H Pylori. Tonight though, I was feeling much better and I've trusted Jill's services enough for a while that I decided to go to this one. Yes, I am a hopeless single, but I'm a hopeless single that enjoys going to meet new people every now and then! We were given a ticket voucher for a drink at the bar as a part of our ticket prices. There were plenty of options that sounded good, but in the end I went with the Evil Genius Trick or Treat Chocolate Pumpkin Porter. It's a very IPA kind of drink, but the notes of chocolate were subtle yet easily identifiable. I do appreciate the bartenders here for being patient with me while I took my sweet time being the world's worst drink decider. I also grabbed up a Build A Pie as I needed food to eat right this very second when I got in. It's the first time in a while that I had tomato sauce in my pizza, but everything else I got as a topping are quite a bit like what I would choose for pizza toppings. In order as it appeared on my receipt, I had fresh mozzarella, shredded mozzarella, ricotta, bacon, basil, garlic, and hot honey. Honestly, for those toppings, the price was actually pretty good! After a $6.33 tip, I paid $28.34 for the pizza. It was a thin crust, wood-fired, and definitely a crispy lil boo thang! It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but that's because compared to other pizzas I've had this has very stiff competition. This was a W pizza right here! It hit the spot when I needed it and it's something I would order again. The ambiance however is really where one should put the most weight in when having anything from a place like this. It's a primarily outdoor place, so it was a good thing I came here on a nice evening in May! I can't imagine this being popular in the winter months or when it's raining. But it's perfect for large groups, and certainly an event like tonight's! It's great for social outings. I'm gonna go ahead and give this a 4 based on my first impressions of the place. It's definitely a good spot with good service. Long as you don't mind the kids running around and come on a good weather day, you're in for a treat! Before I go, let's bring the subject back to love for a bit. It's not easy. In fact, love can be a very hard game to play. But it works in mysterious ways.
