Service was good and friendly and the pilot batch beer (overall a very limited beer selection for a brewery) was very good but the food was surprising - got chicken tenders and they may have been hand breaded (?) as noted but the texture was processed cafeteria chicken patty. Weird. Much weirder was the glass I got my (delicious) cocktail in, which was a large condiment/snack glass. I have the same ones at home - great for olives and sides of guac, not for a drink with boba balls. The drink had no straw (bc in a three-inch tall sauce cup). So I had to just kind of shake the boba into my mouth when the drink was done. Cocktail was a nice combination of flavors but that presentation was extremely odd. Vibe of refresh is more like an airport sports bar, very different from warm/industrial/dark look before. Was a big fan of this spot for years but new version isn't for me. I used To go to the bow before the reopening when I would come to the area and to be honest the beers sucked and were over priced. they Always had some reason the beer was pouring bad or tasted completely different then the last time you order it. had Some Friends that wanted to check it out after it reopened. The food took forever to get to us and when it did it wasn't even fully cooked. the beer is only slightly better then what I remember before the re opening and still overpriced on top of that there is a funky smell to The place as well that's not really appealing when you want to sit down for a drink and some food. the Staff also seems very unsure if they are a bar style or restaurant so the service was kinda hot and cold and they kept Wanting us to use this app to order wasn't working at all. Checked out the revamp & relaunch and it does look lovely!! Was very busy and maybe it was the fact they were understaffed, but what a shit show. Sat at the bar rather than try and wait around for a table (no one acknowledged us or gave us menus) dripped on with condensation from above piping, we'll move since the people next to us at the bar wouldn't move up! Grabbed seating in front of the vats and still waited. Asked the guy in front of the bus station who was looking like a manager could we get some menus - he was clueless. Another 5 minutes went by before lovely waitress who's name begins with an M but can't remember, came over - extremely apologetic, told us the guy we talked to it was his first day - oh brother, but makes sense!! Beer solid as usual, food they were out of all the sliders so we ordered the veggie nachos - sorriest looking plate of food ever, saltiest chips I've ever eaten, a sprinkling of corn, black beans and tomatoes, a teaspoon of cheese sauce on 2-3 chips but the biggest glob of sour cream! The worst ever!!! We laughed it off and said first week relaunch issues we'll try again in a couple of months!! Broken Bow Brewery is one of the few breweries that I still have bookmarked for the state of New York that isn't in New York City itself. So with that in mind I feel a certain sense of accomplishment by checking this particular brewery off of my list. The beer that Steve and I had and enjoyed was the Broken Auger Lager. A very appropriate beer as the weather heads in it's steadily warming state for this time of year. But in actuality lagers are good anytime of the year for us. Flavor features with this particular beer are a naturally sweet flavor along with a bit of sour with a clean aftertaste. The beer is light bodied and smooth which is an extra plus! read more

This place is quite spacious and has ample room for groups. The staff is very friendly and accommodating- we had a baby in our group and the bartender went out of his way to ask if he should turn down the music for the baby. Good beer in this place, they also have a nice patio where you can sit and enjoy some beer and food. They had a pizza truck set up outside and a food truck making Empanadas. I tried the pizza and it was good, I also had an Arepa with cheese from the food truck. The service was good until the night came when they had a large group come in then it became impossible to get a beer. That's when it was time to leave. I enjoyed my time there and would return. Parking could be a challenge in the street though but fortunately there is a parking parking lot next door that belongs to Springhill Suites hotel with plenty of space available. Early Saturday afternoon, only a spattering of people at this large brewery. Inside, there is seating at the bar, as well as a large section for tables (one area for dogs and one for non dogs). Outside there are a few tables under umbrellas, as well as chairs around the parking lot... Since there was a dog with me, decided on ordering at the bar then taking the drinks outside. Started with the "Petunia's Red Ale" ($7) - a toasty Irish red ending in a malty finish. Next was the "Plum Hazy IPA" ($7) - a sweeter fruity ale that didn't have much in terms of hops. No real food jerez but there is free popcorn (!) at the back, as well as some chips/jerky for purchase. My family and I came here nearly when it opened on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too full yet - maybe about six or seven other groups outside. We were able to hang in the faux turf area with plastic Adirondack chairs. I liked their beers - not all my favorite styles but good quality. They also offer samplers. On this given day, they also had a pizza table set-up, and that was the perfect compliment to the beer. I appreciate that they're family friendly, but if you're bringing kids, make sure to bring them lots of entertainment. Most of the outdoor space is concrete (plus the fake grass). Don't miss the extra green space behind the parking spots along the fence. There's also a huge connect four game there as well as more seating. read more

I should start by saying I am not a beer drinking but the lure of a lobster truck brought me to this brewery. While there I let the bartender know I'd like something fruity as I'm not a fan of beer. He suggested a newly released beer with notes of pineapple, passion fruit, orange, guava and wheat. I ordered the smallest size and drank it with no problem. It was quite good. It went very well on a hot day with my lobster roll. The Brewery has a large outdoor area as well as two different indoor rooms both very spacious nd air conditioned. Bathrooms are new, air conditioned and were clean. They serve hot dogs, chips and help yourself free popcorn. When a food truck is onsite you can't order any beverages from the food truck, those you have to get from the Brewery and I believe the same holds true for the hot dogs that you couldn't order at the Brewery when a truck is onsite but that part I'm not certain of. I did notice that the hot dog roller had no dogs on them when we were there. Therefore my assumption. If you follower their social media pages they have several different trucks coming on different nights. Who knows, maybe they'll convert me when I return to perhaps dabble with another BREW or get the ADULT size fruity beer. read more

Many, many years ago I'd argue this little brewery had one of the best beers in the Tristate. Their Tripel, Russian, and particularly Barleywine were legendarily good. Even winning several beer competitions. So good that it inspired me to try crafting my own versions of their beers. Nowadays? There's a noticeable slide in quality. They no longer produce these more delicate but incredibly intoxicating (figuratively and literally if you have a low alcohol tolerance) and instead only produce fairly rudimentary beers and can't even get those right. There is no food at this brewery, however it's okay to bring food in which is nice. The ambiance is great! There is seating outdoors and indoors. Indoor seating is open to a fairly good size brewing production line whereby you can sit practically within arm's reach of the mash tun and boil kettle with about 4-6 good size fermenters visible behind. Service was miserable however. I know good help is hard to find but at the very least the two young men working there this week (at point of sale) were so obviously faking their cordiality to the point I felt embarrassed for them. It was so obvious they didn't want to be there nor did they engage customers conversationally. Hospitality 101 goes a long way. I hope they look into it someday. Aside from all this I did love the beer I had because I could taste the grain in it. I love that! read more

Not every pub or restaurant features local craft beer (and they're missing out!), but when one does, they got it going on. So a shoutout to "The Pub" located inside Empire City for introducing me to the knowledge of a local craft brewery nearby known as Broken Bow. I finally had the chance to visit said brewery a few weeks back and experienced some quality concoctions. Let's begin. Located a little over ten minutes from EC is this semi-spacious suds spot that has an almost vintage feel with its wood-finished tables and stools. An outdoor beer garden and corn hole game (along with food truck visits) compiled the entirety of the place. Their small-ish bar is where you'll score your beers receiving them from some pretty friendly people, I might add. Both employees working that day were super chill and really welcoming (even when we flashed the Groupon I had purchased). This started things off on point. Heading from there, we'll dive into the actual importance of the whole experience (and this review), the beer! Now I had sipped plenty of pints of Broken Bow's Red Ale (a malty and substantial brew) as that was the beer on tap back over at Empire City, so I was ready to try some different ones. A flight was included in that aforementioned Groupon and so I chose four tasters and let the beer-ing begin. Broken Routines IPA Series with Mosaic and Amarillo, and Space Brut IPA were two hoppy yet individualistic brews in taste that basically did the trick for their styles. The Broken Heart Stout was a solid selection as it held some roasted notes and a little bitterness. My apologies to the last brew (I should've wrote this down), but it was either Auger Lager or the Kolsch. I guess neither were overly memorable if I can't recall the choice (sorry!). What did score big points was Lucy's Strawberry Sour Wheat. I didn't include this in my flight, but my buddy tried it and loved it so much he bought a four pack of cans (and this guy never buys cans!). It held well a few weeks later when I grabbed one of those cans from my friend last night and basked in some wonderful fruity notes surrounded by a perfect tartness. It leads me to wanting a little trip back up to BB to grab some more. Overall, Broken Bow Brewery is just what the beer doctor ordered in giving it's beer goers an enjoyable setting (inside and out), super friendly service, and brews that are (mostly) memorable. Groupon or not I would most certainly return for more Broken Bow goodness, especially because one can only drink the same beer from a brewery being served at a pub so often and not want to try more of what they have to offer (maybe mix it up, Empire City?). read more

The location is very nice and has that "industrial/brewery" feel to it. The night we went it was a little chilly inside the facility - some heat would have been welcomed. Additionally the bartenders need a bit more training in interacting with customers. They seemed aloof and bothered when asked a question, placing an order , or just giving any attention to patrons. Hint - stay off your phones when working. I do see potential - a nice spring day or summer night may help with the coolness of the interior as well as the employees. Food was from food truck was ok ... selection of liquors was low... seating adequate. Overall an OK place with many opportunities to improve. read more

I love this place! I'm always impressed with how caring, detail and hospitable this establishment staff is. The fact that this is a family business shows and you can feel it in the air. Their beer is out of this world. Every flavor they created has a unique name followed by a story which is completed by an amazing experience seating at this brewery. Now that outdoor seating is finally open and the warm weather is here. I look forward to spending my afternoons after work enjoying a "Lucy's" sour strawberry wheat ale. I thought the beers were quite good, but the atmosphere could have been better. I came here with a friend who lives nearby to watch the Yankee game and have a few beers. I insisted that we try a craft beer joint over a sports bar and for sure this was the correct choice. The beer has potential. I ordered two flights to share with my friend so I definitely got to try many items. I particularly liked the Pumpkin spiced Oktoberfest, which is strange since I rarely like spiced beers. The Lucy's Sour Strawberry Wheat Ale was also quite good. We sat in two comfy chairs near the large beer tanks across the room from the TVs so we could watch and catch up. The lighting was a bit too strong, the bar was too small and overly lit, and the room lacked warmth overall. It looked too quickly thrown together. Perhaps that is what they are going for. I've been to many places that have a similar vibe but these others feel more curated and as a result more welcoming. Overall, considering this place is in the sticks, a good option for quality craft beer. read more

I love coming here! The staff are always attentive. Leo, Sam, Greg, Kevin and Katie have always been super welcoming any time I've come through. The manager Gavin is extremely kind, accommodating and hilarious! The drink selection is great, with a rotating beer menu. My fav is Old Split Foot. They also recently extended their menu to offer yummy cocktails. The place is always very clean too! They do not have a kitchen but it is bring your own food and have delicious food trucks on the weekend. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Meh. I get it, it's a brewery, so if I was judging by beer alone, pretty good, however like many of us I've grown tired of mediocre businesses stopping short of their full potential. We WANT destinations to get us off our couches, particularly an aging Gen X that was 50 at age 11 and is still 11 at age 50. Bring in a pool table, darts, maybe some classic arcade games along the wall (that are free to play of course), what about some ax throwing (for an additional fee)?! My point is this place has potential. The exterior in particular has some character and charm that you'd find upstate, but the interior is meh. Again it's clearly a brewery, but they'd do much better as a business if they enhanced their destination appeal just a smidge. Just saying! read more

Was just here on a Friday afternoon heading into evening. A parent for some reason decided this would be an ideal place to hold a three year old's birthday party. Screaming children everywhere. Spliled snacks and drinks. Legos underfoot. Utter chaos. I spoke to a bartender who was equally annoyed but nothing done, even though there is plenty of outdoor space. Broken Bow Brewery is a small brewery located in the burbs of NYC in Tuckahoe. Yes Tuckahoe, New York go figure. Now with this said, Broken Bow Brewery has some tasty beers. Remember, this is the main thing; "good tasty beers". The brewery has a nice selection of the varies styles of beer; IPA, seasonal, ale, larger, stout, etc . I really enjoyed tasting 4 or 5 different beers on my first visit with the wife. I find this the best part of the brewery experience. Tasting tasty beers in a comfortable Tap Room. You can purchase pints, flights or growlers. The Tap Room is a spacious area with plenty of seating. They have a half dozen soft leather chairs and a couple of dozen bar stools to seat and enjoy some beers. There is a 60 inch TV to catch a game. While there is no food service. Free peanuts are available plus you could bring in outside food. The wife and I ordered pizza. Always goes well when sampling beers. Service was good. The staff seem young, but knowledgeable. Clean bathrooms. Take credit cards. Overall, Broken Bow Brewery is a solid brewery. The beers are tasty and flavorful. The Tap Room is comfortable. The facility was well designed and spotless. All this makes for an excellent brewery experience. Broken Bow Brewery is definitely a must visit if you are making the rounds of breweries in the area. read more

I have mixed but generally favorable feelings about Broken Bow. I like their beers but certainly don't love them. My favorite by far is their vIPA. I live close by and would love nothing more to be a major fan of their beers but I'm not there yet. On the much more positive side the brewery is a great place to meet up with friends and hang out. The staff is super friendly. Although they don't serve food there are a few close by restaurants that will deliver. Overall I will be back and I will continue to check out some of the beers they have on tap. If you are in the area it's definitely a place worth checking out. read more

Not the best spot if you ask me. The beers are not consistently good and don't pour well. Most of the times I've been in it seemed to be more kids running around unattended. They also don't serve food and ask you to bring it in but when you do the staff is not very accommodating. If you are a parent looking to get a drink this might be the place for you but if you are looking to go out with friends I'd suggest someplace else. read more

Overall rating: A+ Small intimate brewery in an industrial area of Tuckahoe. A flight of 4 beers is only $8+tax here! You write your flight order on cute little chalkboards, pay, and take it back to your table of your own choosing. They also sell beer by the glass, growlers, and cans. I also saw they serve a specific brand of whisky too. I got a 4 pack of tall boy cans of Lucy's Sour Strawberry Wheat beer for $13.09. It was my favorite! You can bring in outside food or order delivery here. They have a food truck here some Saturdays. Great, chill brewery. Not too loud or crowded (though the rain could be the cause). They have boardgames you can play. Here's what I tried in my beer flight: -Lucy's Sour Strawberry Wheat/6.0% (This sour style wheat beer is strawberry blonde in color, and pleasantly tart with notes of lemon, rhubarb, and grapefruit.  Light and crisp on the palate, the fresh strawberries balance the acidity in the background, ending with a refreshing, dry finish.): I'm not usually a fan of sour beers but this was AMAZING! The tartness pairs really well with the strawberries! Very impressed! If you get the can for later, make sure you pour it into a glass. I drank it straight from the can at home the next day, so I didn't get as much strawberry flavor without the smell. I highly recommend this beer! A+ -Old Split-Foot Belgian Golden Strong Ale/10.0% (A full-bodied Belgian ale, intense and complex with a rich, creamy head. The nose is a fruity bouquet topped with honey and clove notes. This "devilish" beer finishes with a spicey alcohol warmth. GOLD MEDAL WINNER, The Great American Beer Festival 2016 - Belgian-Style Strong Specialty Ale -AND- Bronze Medal Can-Can Awards 2018!): I believe this is a pale ale base according to their can's labeling. I'm not usually a fan of pale ales, but this was a really unique and tasty cross between pale ale and a Belgian ale! Very flavorful and strong, but without the heavy floral taste of most pale ales. Not horribly hoppy! A -Red Ale/5.5% (Our Red Ale has a malty, lightly sweetened personality that is smooth & easy on the palate, subtle caramel aroma, topped with a cream-colored head, this beer is a jack-of-all trades when it comes to food pairings.): This was more of a full bodied beer to me. Very malty. Not my favorite personally, but still very drinkable. B+ -Kölsch/5.5% (A vivid, zippy beer brewed in the traditional German style. Brilliant clarity, subdued maltiness and a pleasant lemony tang all combine to make this brew utterly quaffable.): I found this to be a very odd Kölsch. The lemony tang really stood out to me. Not what I'm looking for in a Kölsch, but still drinkable. B I really liked how they combined different beer styles to create unique combinations! I feel like there is a beer here for everyone! Bring a bottle of water so you can cleanse your palate between beers. Best way to do a beer flight! Two clean gender neutral bathrooms. I spoke with an employee and he mentioned they're making a new beer with blueberries. Should be ready in a few weeks. I'll definitely be returning for that! read more

As breweries are opening up again, I decided to try out this place. They have outdoor seating in the beer garden in the back. It's pretty spacious with a decent amount of seating which is great. They have a great selection of beers on tap for a decent price, and you can also buy some cans/bottles to go. The staff were really friendly and knowledgable about the beer. I really appreciated that if you're unsure, they sometimes give a sample to taste before getting a whole cup. They don't serve food, but there was a food truck there when I went which was good. They sold chicken, fries, and a "make your own bowl". Overall, I would come back again! It's a perfect outdoor place to hang out with some friends or relax with great drinks and food. read more
