I usually love this place but St pats was a huge disappointment. We were there on the Sunday and sat upstairs. Upstairs was quieter and we had a nice waitress. We started with Irish nachos which were really tasty! We were so excited for traditional Irish food. We ordered the corned beef and cabbage, a couple of rubens and a shepherds pie. The shepherds pie was 3 inches high with potato and had a scoop of gravy on top? Maybe because it was all potato and barely had 1/4 inch of a runny beef gravy inside. A really sad version of a shepherds pie. The corned beef and cabbage was a pathetic looking dish with giant potatoes, Half a cabbage, and a sad portion of corned beef for $23! The Ruben's were only half filled with meat, and a small portion at that on one side of the sandwich. We were all disappointed with our meals and couldn't believe an Irish restaurant would serve such low quality food on St. Patrick's Day! Other restaurants had All you can eat corn beef specials for $17.95 and this is what we got for $23! See picture. it was mass-produced and just thrown together and it was evident! Our waitress was really good, and there was no complaints about the service because it wasn't overly crowded upstairs. Get your act together because your food is usually very good!

An Irish bar that has lost their identity trying to accommodate every audience. When asked to describe what type of place this is, the staff described it as an "Irish American Family Restaurant". You walk in to a nice bar with high tops on one side and booths on the other. There are some families a In the booths. Their menu is primarily dominated by American pub food such as sliders, burgers, Rueben and wraps. For Irish food, they have corned beef & cabbage, and shepherds pie. Their Guinness tasted a bit bitter which I was told means that they will need to change the keg soon. Ok I can go with that because the bartender let me switch to a Sam seasonal which was perfect (temperature and pour). Bartenders 10/10 I got the Guinness Beef Stew special which was ok but not spectacular. Bartenders are a solid 10/10 Food 5/10 (average) Identity 4/10 (looks and sounds Irish but missed the Irish mark) Overall not bad for drinks but not worth the aggravation of finding a tight spot a few blocks away when you can go to the Irish Bank in Hartsdale that has a parking garage next door. Amenities - big TVs to watch your sporting events, beers on tap. Sounds good to watch sports so this place has that going for them.

Vel Runny velveeta Mac and cheese, not herb crusted like the menu stated.

I rated their veggie burger very good last time, 2 years ago, but seems like the place went down the hill. Had very bad experience tonight. It was 32F outside and the place had no heat, it was freezing in there. Food got cold within few minutes. The veggie burger I ordered didn't have pickle on a side like it used to have , neither it had cold slaw, the bun was old and chewy. No good. But my biggest disappointment was Mac and cheese. It said in the menu, "herb crusted Mac and cheese" we got velveeta $3.99 a box Mac and cheese. Why would they serve velveeta Mac and cheese? What a disappointment. Never again.

    Cheers

Had an awesome time with my colleagues after work for happy hour. The appetizers were delicious

We just had one of the best gatherings of folks ever. The private space upstairs at Mickey Spillane's is perfect. The space is open and airy. Our group was about 50 and there was plenty of space both inside and out. The staff was helpful and welcoming. Loretta was on point to make sure the event was perfect. Pricing was fair and delivered on what they promised. You know many times it doesn't matter where you are but that it is the people you hang with that make it special. I can tell you that this is true, but having the right local makes it even better. Mickey Spillane's is just that place. Low key and relaxing helps to hold down the drama and allows everyone to relax in a comfortable place. Can't speak more highly about our time here and look forward to coming back soon.

While the menu includes the usual bar staples like burgers, sandwiches, salads, and beers, the quality is anything but typical. On top of that, they serve full entrées that could rival some of the so-called "higher-end" spots in the area--at much more reasonable prices. I've eaten here several times, and I was actually surprised to realize I hadn't written a review yet. There were three of us in for an early dinner today. Our waiter was friendly, and even though it's very much a neighborhood hangout, it's welcoming to newcomers--lots of smiles and a very warm, relaxed atmosphere. Now, onto the food: one of the specials was buffalo chicken empanadas--six in an order. The dough was flaky, and the filling had a good kick without being overly spicy, which I appreciated. They came with a blue cheese dressing that paired perfectly. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu, which came with mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes by default, but I swapped in potato salad--and I'm glad I did. The chicken was well-prepared, topped with a flavorful marsala sauce, and stuffed with ham and Swiss cheese. The potato salad was clearly homemade and really tasty, and the vegetables--broccoli and two kinds of zucchini--tasted like they'd been fire-roasted. So good. Mom ordered the Balboa wedge, which was generously packed with meat, and the chicken cutlet wrap with lettuce and tomato--another fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned dish. All sandwiches are offered as a wrap, Panini or a wedge. All of us ended up ordering the potato salad--it's made in-house and truly delicious. I ended up taking home a pasta dish with sausage, garlic, and oil for my husband, and he absolutely loved it.

So, this one was a real doozy of a visit. The drinks were fair, with our order being a Goose Island…read moreIPA, Long Island iced tea, and a pomegranate martini. The service and food, on the other hand, were quite a mixed bag. We ordered a margherita pizza, pancake tacos, steak and eggs, and French toast with a side of sausage--the pizza, at least, was good. However, the "French toast" was more like an anemic panini press trying to pass as French toast. The steak and eggs comprised of a fairly well-cooked (that is, it was the right temperature) yet underseasoned steak of a relatively dubious cut, underseasoned home fries, and eggs done wrong (sunny side instead of over easy). The lattermost was the start of the problem, as I was willing to give it a shot, but found the texture off-putting. In light of this, I brought the problem to our server Adalia, who brought it to her manager Elvia. Thankfully I had someone else with me to tell me what happened: Elvia came over without addressing me on their error, silently took a look at my plate and instructed Adalia to have the kitchen put the eggs back on the fire. She takes my plate to extract the eggs, and brings them back (unsurprisingly) completely overdone, first in Elvia's hands, then in Adalia's for her to serve; we send for a refire, and they come back correct 7 minutes or so after I've already finished eating. Considering the hassle it took to get them, I couldn't trust it enough to eat, leading them to waste as well. After all was said and done, the GM Amer comes over to see how things were, and was thankfully helpful and understanding of our situation. Here's the rub: I was initially willing to overlook the steak, the home fries, and even the eggs if the error was properly ameliorated. Adalia and Amer both did very well, and I'm grateful for them for that; Elvia, on the other hand, managed to break the chain of competent customer service by directing the server to handle the problem in a way that was set up for failure (if you mess up an egg, it's an immediate refire because of how the egg cooks in the first place -- Amer also arrested to that policy) all without addressing us and taking accountability, due to negligence or whatever else. Not only that, but when sending the incorrect eggs over the second time, she couldn't even bring it to us herself--it would have been easy, seeing as she was the one that originally had them--and left Adalia and her tip to potentially take the fire if the patrons happen to be angry. Mistakes are fine--everyone makes them--but I'd describe this as cowardly more than anything else, and I take issue with that in particular from a leadership standpoint. While Amer graciously extended an invitation for a better experience next time, I can't say I'll be taking him up on the offer when their service and food are this misaligned; unfortunately, a disappointment overall.
