If you go in with the right expectations you'll have a great meal. Service: Table service here is ok, definitely an old-school experience in a way. The waitresses are typically rude and impatient; they will not bring you water, will not check on or service any tables they are not assigned, and often have to be flagged down for help. The bartenders are all great, but no matter how busy it gets there is only ever one of them, so service can be slow. Ambiance: Classic tavern look - almost everything is wood, good lighting, stuff is old but clean. They have great daily specials during the week, including 25¢ wings on Mondays after 8, but these are mostly cash and bar only. This place is packed most of the time, it can get loud and it's not unusual to wait for a table or bar stool. Food: Everything is exceptional. I love the wings, crispy with a nice spice level. The dry rub ribs are spicy and so tender. Sandwiches and burgers are a step above many places; some notable options are the coffee burger and big daddy sandwich. They typically have some really great specials too, worth taking a look at the board. The kitchen is also decently flexible for modifications in our experience. This bar is great! The music is muted and the lighting is super bright. The wait staff service was not the most attentive in that I needed to ask for water a few times and plates twice and waitress never came by to check on me. Felt slightly neglected. The wings were delicious--perfectly crisped and sauces just right!! Not too hot spice wise. I wish I ordered more than I did! The ribs also were good.... Not great but darn good. Without the sauce it would have been a miss but the sauce (splattered on after the cook) made it. Note to chef, after applying sauce, maybe put back in ar 275 for 20 minutes. It will make it tacky. The meat itself was somewhat devoid of tremendous flavor. The nachos were great but the cheese was congealed and it sort of made the nacho eating a little tough. The cheese was east/good though. Stopped in to have dinner outside. I haven't been here in years. Outdoor area was nice, large and covered. We started off with a Guinness and a Cosmo. The Cosmo came in a plastic cup which I was a little surprised at. I expected a martini glass for $12. It was just bizarre because it looked like someone had taken a couple of sips before they served it to me. It was an odd amount in the plastic glass. It wasn't full, it was just weird. Kinda ruined the experience of having a Cosmo and sipping from a martini glass. As an appetizer we ordered the nachos, which were vegetarian, and quite good. They contained vegetarian chili, which I was pleasantly surprised, was actually good. For entrées, we ordered the beet salad and the grilled chicken and field green salad. The salads were good but on the smaller side. Nothing memorable. I didn't know where our waitress was because no one was paying attention to us. My girlfriend flagged down a bus boy to ask for the check. Someone else arrived with the check and handed it to us. It wasn't our original waitress. My friend thought the original bill was someone else's because something was listed incorrectly. She gave it back to the second waitress who seemed annoyed. The waitress arrived with the correction and said "you should've kept your mouth closed because it's more now!" In a sarcastic tone with a smile, and dropped it off without looking at us. Who says this to a customer? So rude. You remember the food, but you also remember how you are treated. I don't believe we were treated very well at all. Our waitress was extremely rude, did not say two words to us even when I said "thank you". She did not pay any attention to us. When she came to the table with the food, I confronted her about her behavior. She said she is one of the managers and she was acting high and mighty. I told her she was interacting with every other table except us, we felt discriminated against. The food is good, no complaints there. But the service? My girlfriend & I walked in right at 5pm and asked to sit outside as it was a beautiful evening. The beer garden was too hot, it's a bubble ceiling and very low. So we moved outside where the game area is. The waitress said no food was served out there. No problem we just want to have a drink. You're not eating? She said it with guilt, as if we were expected to! After that, we were completely forgotten about, never asked if we wanted another round. My girlfriend had to walk back inside, order drinks and bring them outside. She was told our check was transferred to the bar, I assume because the waitress was done with us. When we went back inside to pay, the place was packed! And kids running around everywhere. It's pretty clear that's how they make money. I asked for the check at the bar, and a different waitress just barked the total of the bill at me, never showed me a total, and the vibe was so hostile and toxic towards us. I was THIS close to not tipping, but as a former restaurant worker, it's ingrained. As we walked out, we heard them all cackling with laughter, obviously at me and my friend. RUDE. The place is homey like a well worn shoe. The restaurant is busy and for several reasons. The staff is nice and the food is very good at reasonable prices. The baby back ribs were delicious, but the BBQ sauce is very sweet, next time dry rub and sauce on the side. The Cole Slaw has a hint of cayenne, but is fresh and refreshing. The French dip is tender, tasty neat and plentiful. The French fries are good in a Mickey D's kind of way. Next time the Big Daddy with onion strings. The service is fast, but always helpful. Sherwoods is a staple in Larchmont. I went there for the first time almost 30 years ago and it's still going strong and always packed. Wings are so tasty and cooked perfectly. The ribs are delicious and you can't have just one!!! Atmosphere is always bustling and fun. Definitely worth the visit. BUT sometimes it's so crowded you have to wait a bit. Do not come here to watch a sports game! I and many of my friends and family decided to go watch the Rangers game at Sherwood's in Larchmont, NY in Westchester. It was a terrible experience. They kicked us out at 8pm when they needed the table for another reservation, when we made a reservation at 6pm. On the phone earlier in the week, we told them we would be there to watch the game and they said we could stay at our table for the night to watch the game. That was not the case when we were sitting there watching it. The waitresses, besides Michelle who apologized and tried to make the rest of our experience memorable, were rude to us and told us not to cheer or yell while the game was on. We were confused since the entire floor was full of Rangers fans watching the game. They did not want us cheering, yelling, or staying at our tables after 2 hours even though we reserved them with the intention of staying for the game, which they were aware of. The bar itself was immensely small and crowded. The only reason we went was because the Rangers put their bar on the Bar Takeovers page. They should not have included them if Sherwoods did not want Rangers fans in their establishment. An absolute terrible experience to watch a playoff game. Had we known this night would turn into getting into an argument with management and being kicked out of our table without knowing, we would have watched the game elsewhere. We will not being returning to Sherwoods to watch a game again, and hopefully others do not waste their time either. Hostess is elderly and rude . Was our first time coming here and it was so busy and the hostess was nowhere to be found . Nor was there anyone telling us what to do or any signs. Sherwoods made me realize how hard I've been missing out on the absolute best wing and burger spot in lower westchester county. I'm from eastchester so I grew up on pipers kilt and candlelight and I can honestly say Sherwoods absolutely blows them away in quality of food. It's nothing fancy, there's no gimmicks, but what you will get is the best tasting wings and burgers you'll ever have. I also loved the McDonald's style fries they serve. But today I came in for the wing special and my boyfriend completely forgot his ID he has a photo of it and he is 28 years old and the woman on shift was so rude about and even told other waitresses to not sell him a beer right in front of us. She continued to be rude to us the rest of our time even though we completely understood she couldn't sell the beer since he forgot his ID. Went on a Saturday night at around 7:30 and the place was packed. There was a great vibe and we were seated after about 15 minutes. Food took a bit long to come out, but I think the wait was well worth it. We ordered the calamari appetizer and the Half BBQ Chicken with sautéed vegetables. We weren't crazy about the calamari but the flavors were surely there. However, the chicken was nothing short of delicious! It was well worth the wait. Ultimately, I am going to compare this place to Candlelight (Scarsdale, NY) because in the end, that's all that matters. Most importantly, wings. The wings here are a tad smaller than those at Candlelight, but they are also crispier. I like crispy. When it comes to sauces, Sherwood's only offers two flavors: hot and bbq. I can't explain why, or how much I respect that. The hot sauces at both Candlelight and Sherwood's seem even. The hot at Sherwood's falls between the hot and extra hot at Clight. Now when it comes to cheese fries, I feel like Sherwood's takes the point. The fries are skinner than those at Candlelight, but they use a mixture of cheeses and melt it all over those damn fries. There isn't one portion of the plate that isn't covered with cheese. I'm a sucker for anything fried and covered in cheese, but Sherwood's is delicious. I love both of these places, but if I'm looking for wings on a Monday night....you'll find me at Sherwood's. read more
