This is my second visit here. We ordered the same thing my husband got the first time because it was really good. Under the "specials" area on the menu is the penne vodka. He orders it (it's a healthy portion) with a chicken cutlet on top. Doubleday's home-makes their own breadcrumbs which they use to coat the cutlets before freshly frying them. They come out so juicy, tender, crispy, and fresh tasting from that extra TLC. With your entree you get the choice of a caesar or house salad which is welcomed. The beers on draft are always fresh. Our server by the way, nicest person ever, good sense of humor, made the visit that much more spectacular. It was a pleasure interacting with her during our visit. Hope to see her again. We sat outside in front of the fire and they had outdoor heaters by the bar. I like that it was late October yet they still had an outdoor seating option open for those who wanted it. I am currently in the car on a long trip wishing I had my Doubledays leftovers to eat!!!!! Will return soon with friends. read more

This place is always happening, but Tuesdays are the most fun for me because they have musical bingo every Tuesday. It's a different theme every week , and the crowd is always happening , singing and dancing to the songs . You know those swinging saloon doors in old western movies where the cowboy makes that entrance and the folks inside stare at you up and down? Or how about Twilight Zone's opening theme music we thought of when we first walked in this pub on Main St in Dobbs Ferry? It's all good. This also strikes as a Cheers reboot- because everyone knows your name.....that is, if you're a regular. Doubleday's has a classic pub design with lots of woods and brass handles. There's plenty of seating to choose from: regular tables in one dining area, high-top seating on another and the main bar action in the middle. We chose a table. We skipped appetizers and went straight for drinks and main plates. My thin, gingery-soy glazed salmon had nice taste and the load of buttery string beans they pass of as 'vegetables' (I was expecting a medley) were a terrific side and hubs liked his medium NY Strip with these puffy crinkle fries. He would've looooved his steak if it had more char after requesting it several times. But in true pub fashion, it was my Lemon Drop that had all the signs and taste of a powerful pour. You know for some reason I thought I had already reviewed this place right after my first visit. But that was a year and some change ago. Guess not. This place is a bar. Bar food, bar ambiance, bar stool. Bar service, bar everything, everyone, everybody... but Customer service...top tier. God like Bathroom.... Clean ANDREW the waiter and service/bar dude: HE WAS AWESOME THE FOOD. Even though I ordered a breaded chicken cutlet wrap and about 60% of it tastes like vegetables nothing wrong with it but I did expect a BIT MORE MORE MEAT. I LIKE BALANCED MEALS YA KNOW...Overall the food was made with good quality customer service ! Especially with my extra condiments because y'all know I'm a sauce guy aka extra chipotle mayo on everything. THE FRIES WERE CRIPS (these are the new fries they debuted whenever they did) because last I remember they had shoestring and waffles... BUT THESE GOD TIER THICK CRINKLE CUT FRIES.... omg....... Another wonderful lunch. Starter off with the mussels in a creamy marinara sauce. Mussels were huge and delicious. The sauce was so tasty, rich and creamy. The bread that accompanied it was nicely seeded and crisp. As an entree, I got the crabcake sandwich and my friend got a turkey burger minus the bun. The turkey burger was very tasty, with a nice salad on the side. I loved the crabcake sandwich, which was crisp on the outside and just perfectly made on a toasted roll.. another tasty lunch here! Went to Double Days a few times for their bingo nights. One time a few of us went and someone called bingo and someone I was with had bingo also. They didn't hear us and we got up to go where the caller was and the girl said "sorry I already handed the money out". It would have been $450 each. It was wrong. I heard this isn't the first time it happened. The person that called bingo was right near the caller/girl that handed out the money. read more

As the Rivertowns go upscale, it's nice to have this old standby sports bar. Surprisingly good food and a nice vibe. I come here when I just need something real, especially when there's a game on. One caveat--parking can be a bit of a challenge. read more

Mother's Day brunch for 6 was again a tremendous experience. My past experiences with dinner here was always a great one so my wife picked Doubledays to go to for Brunch. Food came out great, the atmosphere was very family friendly and the staff can't be any more friendly. Linda and Christine have a contagious enthusiasm that make everyone feel like you're their own family. Nice sports bar in Dobbs Ferry on Main St. It's got kind of a baseball theme, but wants to include other sports and also has aspects of an Irish pub. I went on a Saturday afternoon and had lunch, lots of locals, friendly vibe. Started with the nachos. They have a pretty tasty chili nacho plate. It hit the spot. The menu is pretty good, took me a while to decide on a sandwich. I went with the hot pastrami. It's obviously hot pastrami with mustard on a marble rye. The sandwich was great. The meat was lean and the mustard went really nicely with it. The place itself was nice. A little dated. Also it's like living in the 90's. No WiFi and zero cell service. read more

Came for lunch one Thursday around 1:30. Total townie/locals bar but hey, i;m cool with that. Service was hella slow and it took over 20 mins to get out calamari app and another 25 after that for the burger and wrap. Food was good but for someone who has a strict one hour lunch, it's pulling it close. They had prosecco on tap which was pretty cool but at $9 a glass, cool when to drool. It took a few minutes to get seated upon entrance to the restaurant because there was no hostess at the stand. On the other hand, our waitress Liz was very friendly and checked on us often throughout the meal. The food more than made up for the lack of attention we received when we entered the restaurant. We got the pulled pork sliders as an appetizer to split (even though it's made to be an entree portion). The pork was evenly coated with BBQ sauce and the pepper jack cheese complimented the sliders well. There could have been a little more sauce on it. The buns weren't toasted, but it didn't really need it. Also, the addition of frizzled onions were a nice touch and added a crunch to the overall soft sliders. As entrees, we got the taco pizza and the hot pastrami sandwich. The taco pizza had a little too much pico de gallo. Because there were so many toppings on the pizza, it caused the dough itself to become a little soggy. The hot pastrami sandwich really hit the spot. It had that smokiness of good pastrami and that charred outer ring. The rye bread was toasted perfectly and the cheese was melted all the way through. It came with shoestring fries, that were very crispy and not oily at all. Overall, it was a great meal and we will be back. read more

Beer selection is good, prices are good, food is good. dont get me wrong, the only thing that reminds me of this place is the fries, they really aregood enough to take a drive up to Dobbs. I have been frequenting this restaurant for many years. The food is really great. I suggest ordering something from the specials list. The bar food is good but your missing out if you underestimate the kitchen. Order your chicken fingers if that's what you like but don't think that is all the kitchen has to offer. This place is great! The food is top notch and the service is fantastic. The crab cake is a must try, probably one of the best I've had around here. The chicken scarp is everything. You can even have their scarp sauce on chicken wings OMG! The steak sandwich is AMAZING and the shortrib quesadilla is to die for. The thin crust pizza is done right also. 1 star is being nice, I went with my husband we had onion soup which was good, nachos were horrible, they were burned or over cooked I couldn't tell , then he had the double day burger, he said there was a bad taste & only ate 1/2. I had the olde English burger, roll was burnt. 3 beers & 2 glasses wine . We had to wait 20 minutes for drinks & our food, the waitress forgot to order, 30 more minutes from appetizer to dinner . The bill was $76.00 , WTF Needless to say we get home (10 minutes away) & he's in the bathroom. We Will never go there again. read more

A very casual local bar/restaurant with reasonably good food. The French Onion soup was actually pretty spectacular with a great balance of cheese, broth, onions and bread. It was a tad too salty for my wife but everyone else at the table devoured it (and were grateful we ordered two). The sliders - we went for the short rib and pulled pork - were also very tasty. They were larger than we had expected from the reviews and came three to a plate - the only downside was that you have to order the French Fries separately. Then there was a step down to the Nachos Grande which were just OK. And the Cobb Salad which was fine except for the bacon - barely cooked and not crispy at all. Somewhat surprisingly for a bar the beer and cider selection was disappointing - I settled for Guinness and my wife had to go with a lager. The service was exemplary until it was time for the check when our waitress disappeared for 10 minutes. And the decor (at least at Christmas-time) was festive and cheery with lots of light wood. Lastly, there are TVs EVERYWHERE - one over each table and a bunch more by the bar. Great I guess for a fall weekend afternoon but just weird when you're trying to eat dinner with friends or family. read more

We had dinner in this neighborhood bar last nite. We had not been there in years because previously we were not impressed. Now I am impressed! I had heard it was anew chef. Kudos!
