Stopped by for a quick afternoon lunch while working on a job site near by. Not my first time here so when I saw how close it was, I told my boss this is the place to go for lunch. We went in, had a beer and a burger. Nothing to crazy, had to go back to work, and nothing worse than being full and tired and trying to go back to work. Haha. This is local eatery with local entertainment on Friday nights for the price of a drink or a meal. You can listen to a band that usually is really good and the food at this place in their specials is quite delicious enough space to have a good time and the staff is really cool. Their head bartender Debbie's amazing Moe is awesome. Steve is great as well. They really make you feel at home. The wings are done. Well the recommendation general Charles Sriracha was on the money and you can't miss the turkey dinner special. It was really good but how can you go wrong with one of their salads if you're trying to watch what you eat or one of their soups I'm sorry this place is a win for a decent price. Thank you so much. Had dinner here -first time back in many years although we live in the area . We had comfort food , matzo ball soup - delicious .The matzo ball had a good consistency, soft and firm at the same time. Chili was well made and tasty . Buffalo wings were just hot enough - good meal. My only complaint was the layout of their seating which felt too open , not the cozy vibe one would expect of a tavern. Their original seating arrangement had tall booths which formed a buffer from the bar area and gave some separation between diners - this felt more like eating in a cafeteria in high school to me. I ordered a chicken sausage dish based on the waitress's recommendations, It was not only excellent but the portion was much larger than expected and I brought almost half of it home to finish. This place was what we needed when we needed it for how many people we needed it for. We were a party of 15 and I called the restaurant and was immediately greeted by a pleasant woman who I explained that we were a party of 15 and could we be accommodated. She said she was by herself but expecting a server to come at one so she told us she could handle it and come on in. The food was great it came out quick. Our waitress Chloe was extremely attentive handling a 15 top by herself and we wanted for nothing. What was a somber day ended on family sharing laughter, great conversation and food. Decided to stop by today for a dinner with my parents and there were so many choices on the menu, it was hard to choose from. I ultimately decided on a Salmon Avocado BLT, which was the right choice! My God, something about this combination is just addicting, SO GOOD! Priced so well too, $18 for this I thought was great! Speaking of pricing, everything on the menu was reasonable, especially in a time of inflation. An order of wings was $15, and they were not stingy with the wings at all, I couldn't believe how many wings were in the regular size order. The waiter was great to us, he was very welcoming and attentive. He even took the time to speak with us for a quick minute right before we left. When I worked in Dobbs Ferry about a year+ ago, this was a nice go-to especially during my hour-long breaks. Food quality as I remember was nice and why I returned. After feeling a bit better from my 2nd dose vaccine symptoms, coming here to get something rather light, was needed. Starters to Salads to Main plates and more are offered. Placing my Southwestern Salad with $12 Shrimp add-on and Burrata salad pickup order was smooth and pleasant. Sounds scrumptious? Burrata Salad had a wonderful Pesto complimenting everything in that dish! My 1/2 portion size Southwestern Salad with fresh Mango chunks and avocado slices- was great. Except, I thought for $12, I was getting succulent shrimp- not 7 measly, rock-hard inedible shrimp. In a perfect world, that amount would buy people a substantial amount and properly cooked shrimp. I don't even know if this is going to warrant any dramatic changes, but charging an excessive amount for poor quality shrimp- mind you- is damn ludicrous. read more

We stopped in unexpectedly for lunch on the weekend. I have never been there before. It was really cute inside. Looks like it would be really fun on a Friday or Sat.night! There were three of us and we ordered an avocado BLT, a French onion soup, and Moms tuna melt with onion rings. The avocado BLT was extremely fresh with crispy toast and creamy avocado. The fries that went with it were crispy and delicious! The French onion soup was hardy with a nice crisp cheese crust on top. Yum! Mom's tuna melt was excellent, with crispy celery not overly mayonnaised on a crunchy English muffin with a blanket of American cheese! Truly, it was a wonderful tuna salad. Loved it! The onion rings were delicious very crunchy and golden. Our waiter was very friendly and nice and took some pictures of our get-together for us. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed the lunch! Absolutely the most eclectic menu I've ever seen for a local "music driven" tavern. We had the pastrami and BLT with avocado. And the one thing I'll always remember; huge soda cups of seltzer are only a buck. It almost sends the message "it's ok not to drink, we're here for more then just booze". This was our first visit to Saw Mill Tavern. Right away we were pleased with the Rock and Roll music. Ambience was nice. The waitress was attentive and very pleasant. Draft beer choices were good. But the food, oh my. The menu was extensive and included daily specials. We chose Tacos al pastor and Chicken enchiladas, and one was worse than the other. Even the black beans were insipid. Enchiladas were void of melted cheese and sauce. Tortillas were soggy and filled with tasteless shredded chicken. Tacos had filling of unseasoned pork cubes and canned pineapple. The shrimp came homemade breaded plus the tartar sauce I couldn't believe the flavor bomb going on in my mouth, My husband ordered the filet mignon and he couldn't believe how delicious it was. We opted for a booth. The place was not very crowded so we were seated immediately. Our waitress was prompt and courteous. After perusing the menu, orders were placed with entrees only although one of us opted for an appetizer order of wings for dinner. A salad and a burger completed the order. My burger was great, with the outside caramelized, the inside medium as ordered and the BBQ sauce quite delish. I had the chance to taste one of the wings, good and crispy but more on the average side. Service through the meal was on point. This place has not been open for that long a period of time but it looked really beat up. When we got our menus there were disgusting filled with grease stains. I had to send back the silverware because it was dirty. I was going to leave but my daughter want to eat there. The food was okay but the sandwiches were all served on this Texas toast which means an enormous amount the bread. Food is ok. Years back under previous ownership and even name of establishment (Pumpernickel) the food and service was great! I've been a frequent patron at this establishment for many years, but no more! My friends, family, & I will find a new place to go. The food is ok at best, the Meatloaf went to hell from the days of old and I can make better meatloaf at home myself which was not the case in the past. Their wings can turn out great, but its a roll of the dice. With a roll of 5 or 6 getting you nicely cooked and flavored wings and a roll of 1-4 getting you over cooked, or ruined wings. Believe me, I know as stated I went there frequently and my guests and I would often take the chance an order wings. More times than not, the wings were over cooked and sometimes even tasteless. The burgers are the same thing as are a few other menu choices. Simply food that one can make better at home. When I go out to eat, I expect two things... 1. The menu to have items that I CAN'T make easily at home with little effort. and/or 2. The items on the menu should taste at least a little better than what I could make at home, and believe me I'm no expert chef! In the case of the Saw Mill Tavern, I might as well just stay home and make the food myself when I'm in the mood for a great burger, meatloaf, or chicken tenders and there are many better alternatives if I want good wings without the roll of the dice (mentioned above). Wrap that up with poor service and management, the place has become a dive in my opinion. There is only a single female waitress who is any good and knew me and my guests from the many times we'd go there. She would always treat us great and treated everyone great for that matter. Wish I remembered her name as it slips my mind now. Anyhow, the rest of the staff are either incompetent, slow , or simply not motivated and the manager doesn't know how to treat the patron's especially when a waiter or waitress made a big mistake like charging the wrong amount on your card (by accident). Not even a "Sorry for that, we will take 10% off your bill for the inconvenience, or here is a voucher for a free (or even 50% off) appetizer during your next visit as a way to say sorry for our mistake! Stay away, many better places to go such as "The Cabin" in Valhalla if you want much better meatloaf and burgers! read more
