While the menu includes the usual bar staples like burgers, sandwiches, salads, and beers, the quality is anything but typical. On top of that, they serve full entrées that could rival some of the so-called "higher-end" spots in the area--at much more reasonable prices. I've eaten here several times, and I was actually surprised to realize I hadn't written a review yet. There were three of us in for an early dinner today. Our waiter was friendly, and even though it's very much a neighborhood hangout, it's welcoming to newcomers--lots of smiles and a very warm, relaxed atmosphere. Now, onto the food: one of the specials was buffalo chicken empanadas--six in an order. The dough was flaky, and the filling had a good kick without being overly spicy, which I appreciated. They came with a blue cheese dressing that paired perfectly. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu, which came with mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes by default, but I swapped in potato salad--and I'm glad I did. The chicken was well-prepared, topped with a flavorful marsala sauce, and stuffed with ham and Swiss cheese. The potato salad was clearly homemade and really tasty, and the vegetables--broccoli and two kinds of zucchini--tasted like they'd been fire-roasted. So good. Mom ordered the Balboa wedge, which was generously packed with meat, and the chicken cutlet wrap with lettuce and tomato--another fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned dish. All sandwiches are offered as a wrap, Panini or a wedge. All of us ended up ordering the potato salad--it's made in-house and truly delicious. I ended up taking home a pasta dish with sausage, garlic, and oil for my husband, and he absolutely loved it.

When you walk in now, there's a host who escorts you to a table in the main dining area. The first thing you notice is the lighting and that it is WAY too bright. The whole room is so brightly lit that it feels more like a sterile operating room than a brewery where you'd want to hang out for a couple of beers. They've added a full food menu, which is a nice addition, but the entire setup now makes you feel like you're expected to order a meal. It no longer feels like the kind of place where you can just mosey in, grab a beer, find a spot, and hang out for a while. The outdoor area has also been completely covered and now looks almost like a greenhouse. I'm not entirely sure what the experience out there is supposed to be because, despite it being completely empty when we visited, they weren't allowing anyone to sit outside. The funniest part was watching people walk in after us. Almost everyone seemed to have the same confused reaction. First when they realized they had to wait for someone to tell them where to sit, and then when they walked into what might be the brightest brewery dining room in America.

Pipers has the best burger of any restaurant in the history of the world…read more The service is also excellent, especially at the bar, where they serve the full menu. Can we finally end the prank?…read more For years, every time someone asks, what's the best burger in Westchester? The answer is always "Piper's Kilt." But it's got to be a prank at this point, like when Carrie White's classmates voted her prom queen. The burgers are... fine. There's nothing wrong with them. But there's absolutely nothing that would make them be "the best." And here's what's definitely NOT the best - the service. I don't know what I did to make them ignore me for the entire duration of my meal, every time I go, but it's like my table doesn't exist, especially if I get that one waitress. You know the one. So, let's all have a good laugh that we all pretended that Piper's Kilt had the best burger for a while, and then all move on to vote for a worthy alternative. Maybe Burke's in Yonkers?

Server came to take food out order and we asked about our drinks; be here in two minutes. Our food order was in front of us before our drinks ever arrived. Lesson learned, don't let them pressure you into ordering food until drinks in hand or they add bar staff. Burgers were awesome as always, as are the fries. Another pet peeve: one diner is finished with their meal and they come to clear dishes while the other person is still eating. This was not necessary; there was no wait and the place was at least half empty. Haven't experienced this at Tavery before and hope this was a one time off afternoon. Your service experience shouldn't overshadow an otherwise good experience.

Hard to say if it would be an addition to our dining rotation but for Bronxville it just might check enough boxes for success. We will see.

I got truffle fries instead of regular fries and it was totally worth it. I almost ate most of my fries before realizing I didn't touch my burger yet. Give Luis a raise cus he was running the whole floor and I counted atleast 4 other workers, one of them a tall blonde man who kept going in and out of the bathroom or back room the whole time. So while Luis is taking everyone's orders, checking in on the tables, and putting the orders into the system at the bar, I'm not sure what that other man was doing...I observed him just taking up space. So yeah big up to Luis on his work ethic! It was such a good time there as he came out with our cake to sing happy birthday to our guest! Drinks were good tho too. I do wish the tables and surfaces of this establishment were cleaner, however. We had sticky matter and spots on the table. Compared with some of the more relaxed restaurants in the area- the kind that has soothing music…read moreand a calm vibe- Urban H. definitely brings the urban to the suburbs. Pop music, pops of black on the walls, TV screens behind and above the bar- so that almost every seat has a good view, a noticeable bar and those wood-slab walls. You know the look. The last time hubs and I were in this space was about 10 yrs ago, when it was Sammy's, so walking into Urban H. and getting hit with their urban-industrial-sports bar feel caught me a little off guard. No offense. Since hubs and I are getting settled into our other home in Westchester, dining out has been our friend. The young ladies here did well. From the moment we walked in until we headed out, everyone was pleasant, welcoming and attentive. We started with the calamari which was tender. Like really tender. Not a rubber band in sight. But where were the tentacles?! Those crispy little tangled things are half the reason hubs and I order calamari and sadly, there wasn't even one. Hubs went with a canned hard lemonade. It was refreshing but it was missing at least a little oomph especially if it's called "hard lemonade". My salmon dinner was beautifully prepared on parsnip puree with sautéed broccoli rabe and a pomegranate sauce. I totally get my dish was going for that savory/sweet mix- but that pomegranate sauce kind of sent my dinner slightly off keel for me. Hubs, loved his pork chop though with sautéed spinach and...white rice.¯\(ツ)/¯. We ordered the "mango" sorbet but it tasted more like lemon and it you had blindfolded me and asked me to tell you the flavor, mango would not have made my first guess. Honestly- Urban H. has more swagger than quiet, screens and a pop playlist that wants you to know it's there. But the service was super pleasant.
