Pipers has the best burger of any restaurant in the history of the world. The service is also excellent, especially at the bar, where they serve the full menu. Of note though, they take no reservations so during prime time you're going to have to wait for a table. The vibe of the place caters to sports fans but is ultimately very chill. Can we finally end the prank? For years, every time someone asks, what's the best burger in Westchester? The answer is always "Piper's Kilt." But it's got to be a prank at this point, like when Carrie White's classmates voted her prom queen. The burgers are... fine. There's nothing wrong with them. But there's absolutely nothing that would make them be "the best." And here's what's definitely NOT the best - the service. I don't know what I did to make them ignore me for the entire duration of my meal, every time I go, but it's like my table doesn't exist, especially if I get that one waitress. You know the one. I'm not one to write reviews all that often and I acknowledge that the motivation to write one now is because of a negative experience I had recently. That being said, I've been coming to the various PK's locations (here in Eastchester and the now-closed one in the Bronx) for literally decades. Great food. Great service. What more can you want? However, a few weeks ago I had a less than satisfactory experience. Straight up I want to say that the service was fine as usual. No problems there. Great waiter (although the hostess seating us didn't seem to be all that happy to see us). It was at the end of the visit that we (my wife and I) realized some problems. We got there around 9:00pm on a Saturday. Not too crowded at that point so we were able to get a booth. There were a group of 5 young folks having fun nearby at a table but pretty much no one else. We didn't even need to look at the menu because we knew what we wanted. Buffalo wings appetizer and 2 Eastchester burgers. The wings came out pretty quick. They didn't quite look like they usually do but looked rather like BBQ wings, but they tasted okay. The blue cheese in the plastic container was only half filled so we asked for another one. No big deal (yet). The burgers arrived very soon after, before we even finished the wings. The Eastchester comes with chili, but no sour cream was provided like usual. Again, no big deal. We asked for a couple. The fries were unusually dry and thin, kind of like overcooked McDonald's fries. At that point and after all the other food, I didn't give it too much thought, although I did miss the regular fries because they are so awesome. After we finished our meal my wife asked for a cup of coffee, but the waiter said that they didn't have any. Even though we had arrived at 9:00pm and the kitchen doesn't close until 11:00, they had apparently decided it was okay to just empty out the last pot. I had seen one of the servers walking by earlier with a half-filled pot but didn't pay any mind since I assumed they were just going to refill it (nor did I care because I don't even drink coffee). It all really became a negative experience when we received the check. Yes, the price of the food has increased dramatically, but that's just a sign of the times. That's for a different discussion that has nothing to do with PK's. I noticed that they actually CHARGED us for the blue cheese and sour cream! 95 cents! Considering we asked for a blue cheese and 2 sour creams, that was 3 extra charges that we NEVER had to deal with in the past. I inquired with the waiter about this and he said yes, "they" (assuming the waiters who might suffer less of a tip) complained about it. He even came back with his phone to show me a text (I assume it was he and others talking about it, but I didn't pay any mind to that, although I give him credit for understanding our concern). I'm not someone who is cynical and thinks the worst, but how I interpret this experience now after the fact is this. They purposefully gave us a few drops of blue cheese with our wings, knowing we'd ask for more. They didn't give us sour cream because otherwise they couldn't charge for it (it would be part of the meal). And here's one I really do not appreciate. The fries and wings were sitting there in the kitchen, waiting for the next customer(s) to arrive and give to them, pretty much as leftovers. This explains the wings coming out really quick and the overcooked and thin fries. My wife and I had noted that it was our quickest in-and-out dinner we ever had. The reasons became obvious. We're not going to make this experience make us stop going here. However, we're going to make sure to get there earlier, make sure they give us enough blue cheese for the wings straight up and make sure they don't charge us for that, and then just skip the sour cream on the chili. Why a local legendary business with tons of loyal long-term patrons (ourselves included) would try and nickel and dime (and provide not freshly prepared food because they dared to come in 2 hours before closing) them is beyond me. read more

Ate here yesterday. The food was decent. Ordered bacon potato skins for appetizer and fish and chips for entree. Hubby ordered mozzarella sticks for appetizer and a cheese burger for entree. The staff is very nice and the food comes out quickly. It was 19 degrees outside and a little breezy inside so I had to put my coat back on after having it off for a while. I'm giving a three not because the food wasn't good but because I have had better and compared to other places where I have eaten the same dishes theirs is not the best. The potato skins tasted like they had been fried and the potato scooped out of the middle of the potato and the fish batter for the cod was not flavorful and dry. This place has been here for years..I regret it took me this long to review it. The place is a charming old school Irish pud in every sense. When you sit at the bar and hear the Bartender (John) speaks with an Irish Brouge, you know two things are likey: the Beer is cold and the food is gonna be great. Well Yup and Yup! I had "The Eastchester" burger, was absolutely Delicious!! This place is just a great neighborhood pub that has its regulars and welcomes everybody. The Best Burger In Town.....That's what the sign says right outside the entrance to this smallish Irish Pub. My Guiness draft was on point. They don't take reservations, so after an approximately 10-minute wait for a table of five in their small dining room, we were seated. Started with the French Onion Soup. Came in a small crock but was loaded with cheesy goodness. Delicious. Had the Manhattan Burger (Canadian bacon, imported Swiss cheese, tomato & sautéed onions) medium. The burgers are served your choice of fries or coleslaw or potato salad or small tossed or Caesar salad. I choose the Cole slaw. The burger was on point, and you could tell the Cole slaw was freshly made. Delicious. I would definitely return when in the area. read more

I kept hearing about this place having good burgers. They have a few options and all are very good, nicely cooked and the right amount of meat. The servers are friendly and quick which is what you want. It looks like an old bar, and feels like it too, but its kept clean. They have a parking lot, but its hard to find if you are not used to the area (its a little driveway 2 doors down). The food is good and fresh but there are two issues I have found. The first is there are no vegetarian options or vegan unless you want a plain salad. They need a handcrafted veggie burger. Also the service is okay if you go like early today but then as it gets busier for brunch lunch or dinner forget it! The waitress gives u creamer and forgets the coffee. WORST BURGER IN WESTCHESTER So. Many. Problems. The patty itself was mealy, mushy, and fell apart. And tasted awful. I got the bacon and American cheese burger, something was off, tasted super low quality and like burnt chemicals. That, on top of the patty which was worse than school lunch meat made the entire thing inedible. I will say, they did remove it from our bill and were east going about it. The other two people I was with were also put off by their burgers, but weren't as bad as mine. Neither of them could finish, as the patty just fell apart. Buns were completely lacking. Grocery store wheat buns. Totally soggy. Not at all what I'm looking for in the "best burger in westchester". Fries were average. Good ratio of crispy outside to mashed inside, 8/10. Cole slaw not good enough to eat, not bad. Potato salad 7/10. Mashed potatoes 6/10. Onion rings were GREAT tho! There was a wait but it wasn't bad for a Saturday night, at 6 pm it was 30 min wait. My husband has been telling that this place has the best burgers in Eastchester so I had to try it. I got the Buffalo Burger with extra crispy fries. The burger looks like it's fresh and handmade. Nice and juicy!!! It came with a fried onion ring on top with the blue cheese in the middle and wing sauce over the top. A great meaty burger. The fries were extra crispy and hot. Hubby got the burger with cheese and bacon and sweet potato fries. He really enjoyed it. The staff was quick with serving and attentive. Services at their best, quick and fast, depending on the day and evening, it can be crowed and a waiting period , the area is roomy but not big, we went there for dinner; we had to wait for a table of 3 , a week later we went back for lunch and we didn't have to wait at all.
