Every summer, the Town of Oyster Bay plays host to a FREE outdoor Concert Series featuring various…read moremusical groups all summer long. The show locations vary between the town's parks and begin at 8PM, but be sure to arrive at least an hour early to secure a prime spot on the lawn. The lineups vary from summer to summer and range from tribute bands to American Idol finalists to classic rock favorites. This summer's acts include Lonestar, Gin Blossoms, Bret Michaels, Blue Oyster Cult, David Cook, and tributes to Elton John, ABBA, The Beatles, The Bee Gees, and Billy Joel, just to name a few (check out the full list of shows and locations at oysterbaytown.com). My friend and I attended the July 29th concert at John J. Burns Town Park in Massapequa featuring Billy Joel tribute band "Big Shot." The band is comprised of various members of Billy Joel's band, including lead guitarist Tommy Byrnes, drummer Chuck Burgi, and headliner Mike DelGuidice, who has more than earned his spot at the piano. Close your eyes and you'll swear you're listening to the Piano Man live...then you'll remember the concert is FREE and you'll enjoy it even more! Aside from the incredible talent featured by the band, the Town transformed the park into a true music venue with a large screen easily visible from even the back ends of the lawn, tons of speakers, concert lighting, and a sectioned off lawn with checkerboard aisles making it easy to maneuver through the crowds. I have paid for concerts at true music halls that pale in comparison. The shows continue through August 16th, so be sure to check the calendar and save a date for an awesome experience! Rock on!

A lot of them have nothing to do with what this place really is. ITS ROCK CLUB! If you're looking for a fine dining experience, this isn't the place! If you want to see a band with a nice stage, good sound system and decent drinks you should probably stop in. My wife and I were there last week to see FM . A fantastic Steely Dan cover band. This place has a very nice size stage plenty of seating and good bartenders. Yes, the bathrooms are pretty disgusting. I think they can probably work on that. However, growing up in the rock 'n' roll culture of the 80s, it does not offend me! Admittedly, we do not eat here. However, the drinks were well-made. Our server, Angelina was excellent. She was friendly and attentive. I'm pretty sure the guy at the door won't be asked to host the Oscars next year. But that's not what we need out of him! The crowd was friendly, and the place was packed. I'm just glad that now that I reached my 60s I can still go out to rock on. My wife and I will definitely be back in the future I suggest you check out their website. They have a wide range of bands. In my estimation this is probably the best rock club left on Long Island. He looked almost confused and walked away. Then a little bit later a different waitress comes by with one water bottle and puts it down. I said we ordered water for the table but we're fine with tap water and she explained that they don't do tap water. So we kept the one water bottle (which ultimately was $5). That would've been helpful for our waiter to tell us that and not just bring out one water bottle. Afterwards we put our drink orders in and decide to put our food in too because we wanted to get it in sooner rather than later with the amount of people there. The waiter goes it is made to order so we figured that it was definitely better to put it in first. We ended up not getting our food until 2 hours later and he forgot to put one of our chicken sandwiches in and says he'll put it right in He comes back about a half hour later asking if we need anything and we remind him that we are still missing an entrée 20 minutes after that, he comes back and says I'm going to push your order to the front, but we have no more chicken sandwiches... Why was this not something that was done an hour ago when we first realized that her entrée was missing? Right after, we also saw that the table next to us get a chicken sandwich. We ended up just all splitting three entrees between the four of us. I don't know if our waiter was new or was unseasoned but just the communication and service from him was lacking, but it did not put a damper on a great drag brunch celebrating Taylor Food was not bad. I came here about a week ago on a Saturday for their Heartbreakers party (5pm-9pm) with a few…read morefriends and had a great time! Tickets (~$30/pp) were easy to purchase via their website and they email you the QR code which you can show at the door when you arrive. No need to print the ticket! I was surprised at how big the venue was inside because from the outside, it looked like a small spot. Apparently this spot has been around for awhile because when I mentioned the place to my stepfather in law, he knew about it from when he was younger! The place was also surprisingly very clean and tidy. Coat check was $3 cash and the line went relatively fast. I was really happy they did not misplace or lose my jacket at the end of the night (speaking from my clubbing days from "back in the day"). You get a physical ticket after handing them your jacket and they even tell you to take a picture of the ticket in case you lose it during the night. After getting my coat checked, there was a table with lit up flower headbands and lit up foam sticks. These were both a hit as almost everyone at the venue had one of each. I would say the age range went from those in their 30s up to women in their 50s. Everyone was respectful of each other which was great. The place was crowded but not so crowded that you couldn't move around or felt claustrophobic though at times, the venue did get kind of warm inside. I did not order any food but I think the VIP tables had that option. I also did not order any drinks because I do not drink alcohol. My friends that did drink seemed happy with what they got. There were multiple bars throughout the venue which was great as you didn't have to walk far to get a drink. I had no issues with any of the staff throughout my night. The bartenders were pleasant as well as the staff handling the coats, the bouncers and security. There were two bathrooms (men and women) and there was always a line for both. At this specific party it was females only so staff allowed us to use the mens bathroom. The DJ (DJ Mary Mac) was great and played a good variety of music throughout the night. There was even a portion of the night where January birthday party goers got up on the stage to celebrate their birthdays. Sound quality was great and even though this was a "day party", it really felt like we were partying at night like the good old clubbing days haha. The con is that parking is hard to find so arrive early before the party. It is located right next to the LIRR train station so I guess that's good for those that want to travel by train. A lot of areas around the venue was 1 hour parking until 6pm or 8pm which was annoying because the party I was going to started at 5pm. Overall, I would definitely return for other events! It seems from their website that they always have something going on!
