Dropped in here for our last night in Beacon. Easy to find, with a nearby parking lot. Welcomed upon entering and seated promptly. Friendly waitress answered our menu questions and took our order quickly. We had the bar pretzel, grilled chicken sandwich, the mushroom burger and Chocolate Chip Lava cake. Both exceeded our expectations. Chicken sandwich had two juicy, seasoned pieces of chicken with toppings. Salad was fresh and house dressing was great. The mushroom burger was juicy and flavorful. The lava cookie cake lacked the lava typically expected but was nonetheless delicious, definitely would order again. There were two seating areas and a large bar that accommodated everyone well. Noise level was good, restroom was spacious and clean. Definitely going back when I'm town!!!! read more

I was a fan of the prior bar/restaurant at this spot but when my local friend suggested we come here for a meal, I was suspicious but intrigued. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly and ordered drinks immediately. Being a Prince fan, I ordered a "Nothing Compares" cocktail which was great. My smashburger was also very good. My dining mates enjoyed their food and even more so the engaging banter with our amazing waitress. She sold us on the brownie cheesecake for dessert, but the three of us couldn't finish it even though it was delicious. We were so full! Overall, I enjoyed this and look forward to returning. Great food, efficient and engaging service at reasonable prices make this a hit in my book. read more

Minus the lack of parking, this place got 5 stars from my party of 6. We all ate something different & we were all very happy with our lunch. Our server who's name is cannot recall was so great, wrote nothing down, got it all out & correct, so kudos to her! The bar is lovely, we sat at one of the large booths there. My glass of Gruner Vetliner was delicious, so I had 2 Thank God I ordered the tuna nachos, because let me tell you how tasty this dish was, listed as an app but I had it for lunch all to myself wonton, small diced tuna, some spicy aioli, small bits of avocado..heaven! So good. Definitely get this! Around the table there was also chicken&waffles, the Beacon Balt, wings&smashburger. No one left hungry, everyone left happy. Good spot. read more

The service was great. Our servers were so sweet. The cocktails were nice n stiff. As for the food... starting off with the positive: I loved the buffalo cauliflower and truffle fries. Very flavorful. Now... the vegetarian beef tacos... sigh... they were dry, lacked seasoning and sauce. My friend and I couldn't finish them, they were so bad. I implore Coopers to put in more effort for the vegans/vegetarians. I would have been perfectly content w some mushrooms, onions, corn and cheese in there. A side of avocado and sour cream would have been nice. But please--for the love of God--86 that god awful dry cat food-grade vegetarian beef from your menu or at least try to properly season and cook it! It was so dry and tough. All the food is solid, the staff are welcoming, and the bartenders know how to mix a drink. This place is LIT. Came here to try the fries my pal raves about and they did not disappoint in any way! I had the truffle parm and they are perfectly thin, crispy and hints of so much flavor. Also got the charcuterie board which was one of the better versions I've ever ordered. I wasn't a fan of the smoked sausage but normally I dig it. Might have just been the spices or wood used to smoke it though it wasn't my fancy, I'm sure others would enjoy. Martini espresso was fantastic and we were lucky enough to grab seats at the bar and enjoy a great night. And now I'm imagining the fries so I'll have to put it on my cake far for a return trip asap read more

Cute small spot and family friendly. Service was great with plenty of food options to choose from. Kids menu included chicken tender and fries, Mac n cheese and another option can't recall. My daughter enjoyed her tendies. I had the pretzel bites which came with a cheesy sauce dip. The brisket grill cheese was flavored with the sauted onions, very tasty and the single patty smash burger was very good. Mondays they have a beer and burger for $15 which is great. read more

Update on what I generally refer to as "Cooperwood." Sorry new guys! I think they've actually pretty deftly resolved their identity crisis. If you walk into Coopers at 630 on a Friday night, you have no doubt that you're in a restaurant. The food is solid, too. If you walk in on a Tuesday night after work and get there while Happy Hour is going on - it is clear that you are in a bar! The Happy Hour menu and bar list is righteous, btw. Highly recommended. Great spot for dinner or to grab drinks. Atmosphere is pretty nice and welcoming. Service was great too. Ordered fish tacos, mozzarella sticks and fries. While visiting our kids in NY, we took our son out for his birthday. Cooper's was his choice. Our previous time there was positive so we expected that on this recent visit. My son asked if a substitution could be made to make a menu item vegan. Our server said she could check, but didn't, so he settled for something else. On a restricted diet myself, I asked about the smoked, dry rub wings and received an explanation that would have complied with my diet. The wings I received were not like any other dry-rubbed or smoked wings I had ever had. These were caked with what seemed like batter and appeared to have been deep fried since the outer coating was crunchy. They did not seem smoked and I was expecting to see skin and a little rub, not a thick coating. Three out of four of us were disappointed in the quality and quantity of the food. read more

What a find! Where the locals go, as it's "off the beaten path" and not as accessible as Main Street is for day trippers. Take your chance at finding a spot on the residential streets or be a good Catholic and go after Mass leaving your car in the lot of St. Joachim's and walk a few blocks. Cozy bar area with decorative lights and a good playlist, or choose the dining room if you want to be slightly more formal. A terrific menu with all the classic bar food but some nice full dinner options as well. I had the flank steak dinner which was PERFECT even though I rarely choose red meat. My companions had a smash burger and a flatbread pizza; all raved about them. Our waiter was attentive, intelligiant and easily had terrific command of the room, which filled up fast at the Saturday night dinner hour. There were family's with kids, adults on date night, and several groups of friends in the bar area. Word on the street is the owners also run Garrison's famed Bird and Bottle Inn, so they should know what they're doing. Highly recommend. read more

What is this place missing? I'm not exactly sure. For one thing, ambiance. Cooper's reminded me of a restaurant in the Cleveland airport. Nice restaurant for an airport -- but obviously Beacon is not the Cleveland airport, and there's little excuse for such a sterile and generic environment. Cooper's is also surprisingly expensive. I know restaurants are costly to run and it's hard to break even, but the menu prices seemed higher than usual. Anyway, our burger and fish tacos were really good. There's definitely potential here. Maybe Cooper's just needs more time to hit its groove? I'll try again in a few months. read more

Consistently very delicious food and cool venue but recently the music was so loud my party of four couldn't have a decent conversation, let alone hear ourselves think - and the restaurant was empty. Asking the server to turn down the music fell on deaf ears. Hopefully this was a one off experience. read more

The Dogwood has now become Cooper's Bar. My family and I enjoyed a quality meal here along with some craft beer. They have a variety of local and semi-local beer offerings and sport bar fare food (sandwiches, burgers, pizza, etc). The Disco Tots are a treat. read more

Brand new beautiful iteration of one of the oldest bar/restaurant in Beacon. Run by an experienced local team with an excellent history of breathing new life in places with rooted history in the area. The massive bar is filled with a nice diversity of local and not so local beverages and the food and service is consistent with the tradition of quality and creative innovations in the same vein as related properties in the area (Wonder Bar, Birds and Bottle and even the Round House) read more

Went here for lunch. Ordered a beer and the smashburger. The burger was the worst burger I have ever had. The consistency was extremely mushy, loaded with way too much caramelized onions and the cheese was non existent. The consistency was almost like a sloppy Joe. There was nothing fresh to put on the burger (lettuce, tomato's etc.) so I asked for a piece of lettuce to put on my burger. They charged me $1 for a half a leaf of lettuce! The burger is a $20 for literally a bun, terrible mushy meat patty and a ton of caramelized onions, you would think the lettuce would come standard like on every single burger served in America does. I thought it was very cheap of the establishment to do. Terrible food, mediocre wait staff and horrible business practices is why I will never go back here, and why I recommend everyone to avoid this establishment. read more

Ok, maybe 3-1/2 stars. This was our first time at coopers bar. We arrived at around 5:00 on a Saturday evening, and already the place was pretty crowded. We were seated quickly by a woman who would also end up being our waitress. We've typically have super friendly servers when we go out. It makes for an extremely pleasant dining experience. We are accustomed to waitstaff that are genuinely friendly, warm welcoming and pleasant. Our server was very competent; but lacked any warmth, or friendliness at all. She didn't smile, talk to us or make us feel welcome. As she didn't introduce herself; we didn't get her name. Our waitress had silver hair, glasses, several tattoos. She looked unhappy, and her demeanor really made us feel a bit uncomfortable. We ordered some pretzel bites, disco tots, scallion pancakes, and dumplings. The food was fresh and flavorful. The scallion pancake, although covered in delicious savory meat, I felt that the pancake itself could use some tweaking. The texture was a bit off snd I could not taste scallion at all. We were ecstatic to see tripel karmeliet on the beer menu-as it's probably one of the best beers in the world. A Belgian triple with an 8.5% ABV. We were seated directly next to a family with two small kids. The atmosphere just wasn't conducive for a romantic date night. We'll probably be back, but it will be during the week, when hopefully when there are fewer children, and also, we hope to have a server that doesn't make us feel like we're inconveniencing her. read more
