a dining room decorated for christmas

A surprise. I was lured to Goshen by the sunflower cafe. Nice place but heavily Vegan / Vegetarian, with no real warning. Drove past just thinking about options & coffees & passed a cute little set of corner curtains and a bunch of parked cars. 7:00 am? Must be a breakfast place. The service, food & decor lived up to the tight adorable 22.5 deg corner. traditional bacon & eggs. But good traditional. As an aside there are 3 places to get breakfast in Goshen, sunflower is the only one that shows up in Yelp??????

The scene is a basic diner, but there is something very comforting about that to this Jersey girl. Upon walking in, my daughter was immediately taken by the display of cakes. The staff was all very lovely and took good care of us. My daughter got a hot dog, my husband eggs and bacon, and I got the pastrami burger. Everything was delicious, though the burger itself was immensely big! Next time, I'll know to share it! We couldn't leave without trying a piece of chocolate cake. My daughter was very happy with it, but my husband acknowledged that the bottom layer was very dry, but the rest of it was yummy. I don't think I have ever ordered a piece of cake from a diner before, so I'll take that as a rave review.

She said there was a group waiting for the table I asked for. I said okay and asked if we can wait for the next one to open up? She did not speak nicely and refused even as two booths to the side of us on the perimeter of the room sat open for five minutes. Not how I would have ever handled this situation in my 10 years of food service experience. Will affect how often I choose this diner, considering I go to relax. The 3 stars are for our wonderful waitress and the good food.

I asked management to change the price to small. They grudgingly did so but were surprisingly rude about it. I got a lecture about how I should have known that there were different sizes despite having never been there before and how this was a one-time deal and would never happen again. I was surprised that they thought I would actually be coming again after being treated so rudely. I tried to point out that when a server takes your order and it comes in a different sizes, the server should ask what size you want, especially if you're ordering for a child. It seems like they would rather prove a point than keep a customer.

Ambience/atmosphere: dimly light chic but still approachable. Great Halloween decor. Very chic bar area. White table cloths. Waiters in sports coats. Interior does not match the external. Very surprising. Service: very approachable and not stuffy. Tons of waitstaff assistants despite main waiters sometimes being less absence. Goods news is they'll grab them if you ask or there's a question or request they can't attend to. Drinks come quickly. Kids food came almost immediately. Love the iPad menus. Gave us a burrata salad for free without asking when a dish was slightly messed up. Food: the pasta is a must. Make sure to hear the specials. Salumi and cheese board is large. All portions are large. Quality ingredients. Many legit Italian dishes. Refined but decadent. Veal, beef, and seafood are primo. Many vegetarian dishes enjoyed. Drinks: really well done diverse cocktails. The pumpkin martini sounds like a setup for failure but was well balanced, not too sweet, and refreshing. Old fashioned spins are always a hit. Great liquor and wine selection including great bottles at every price range. Price: may be pricey for New York State but a deal for fine dining and drinks outside a metro area. We will stay return customers!

It wasn't overly crowded, but I looked around I saw a lot of leftover food from the people who ate and left. Some came in waiting to served then left after being ignored or not noticed. First off It was as if the servers couldn't understand who was supposed to clean the tables? The Service was painfully slow, but it was morning so they may have had a lot of takeout orders or shorthanded? Most of the breakfast meals came with home fries and the three orders we had each of the fries were ice cold and eggs overcooked. Orders had arrived out of order and the simple things such as toast, which was part of the breakfast orders either came as we were finishing the meal or didn't come at all. I was looking forward to a good experience like I had the 1st time but me and my family were disappointed. At least the coffee was drinkable...but we had to work to get the server's attention each time we wanted a refill. They really need to do better....

I ordered the enchiladas. They were a little sweeter than I expected, but still enjoyable overall. My husband had the Barn BLT, and he absolutely loved it. They have a huge drink menu with plenty of options, plus daily specials, which gives you a great reason to come back and try something new. Overall, it was a very enjoyable brunch experience with good food, great drinks, and welcoming service. We'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu and take advantage of their specials!

I feel very mixed about writing this review!…read more First the ambiance- it's a rustic barn feel. It was fine nothing to complain about and the bathroom was clean. Next the service- it was extremely slow. Like super slow but I will say the staff was very nice and it seemed like our waitress was waiting on many tables by herself so I wasn't mad about how slow it was. But it should be noted. Now the Drinks. I truly don't know how I feel! My friend and I both ordered drinks. She ordered the Pom-Amore which is supposed to have fresh pomegranates in it and an edible flower as a garnish per the description. It had neither! She did have cranberries in it, maybe they ran out? I personally don't like that, they should have informed her they didn't have the right garnishes what if she was allergic? I had the cranberry limoncello which was supposed to have cranberries in it and it had none, hilarious I know! On top of that my glass was dirty had something caked on the inside the glass (like my straw wouldn't move it off) so they had to remake it. But it did taste very good. Lastly the food- My friend ordered the burger she said it was very greasy, I didn't try it so I'm not sure. She had the hand cut fries with it and I did try them and they were delicious! The portion of the burger and fries was huge! I got the avocado egg rolls and the Sweet Thai Wings. I wanted to hate the egg rolls because when they came out it's literally just like avocado inside, which is my own fault I assumed it was going to be more like a southwestern egg roll. However, they were delicious! It came with this spicy sauce that was so good. The only down side is that they left the avocado pit inside one of my egg rolls- I took a picture- which wasn't pleasant to bite down on. I also ordered the wings. They were good. The sweet Thai chili did not taste like Thai chili rather more like a buffalo wing so much so that I wondered if they brought out the wrong wings. I will say I got a bit of an ick because I found feathers on the wings. These are fresh butchered wings so it's understandable but also not my favorite thing to have happened. To note: I think it would have been nice because of the dirty glass for them to have offered a free dessert or something (especially since both our drinks were made wrong but to be honest we didn't tell them that they were) but that's just my personally thought for excellent customer service. Again, the waitress was extremely nice so of course I still tipped 20%!
