Great food and ambience at this place. I tried the escargot, was expecting the typical butter/oil and garlic so I was a little disappointed. It didn't register well in my brain. Whenever I have a chance, I always try the Osso Bucco. It wasn't as good as the best ones I've tasted, but it's still good. The meat was tender and the sauce was good. The rest were the meals of the rest of the family. They seemed to like it.

I was just there for my birthday a few days ago. Had been there once before and really enjoyed the seafood sampler appetizer. Decided to make that the main course for my birthday dinner the other day. This time the food didn't quite match up to my first visit both in freshness and taste. The clams were chewy and the oysters were dry of any juices on this visit. The rest of the platter was enjoyable. I think a mignonette sauce would have been a nice compliment to the shellfish. I didn't mind any of that as much as I was offended by the unmistakable smell of a used adult diaper as soon as we entered the restaurant. Which immediately gave a flash back of my previous/first visit. We were seated next to an older gentleman and his family and I was looking daggers at him throughout my meal, thinking he was to blame for the stench I was smelling. Turns out he wasn't at fault. I felt so bad for hating him that first dinner. The servers were very attentive, but must be nose blind to that smell. I sincerely marvel at how no one else seemed bothered at all by the odor. I was breathing through my mouth the entire time. Besides the questionable clams and oysters, the rest of the food was good. I would need to eat outside if I ever dine there again.

The place is very charming with accents all around which are boat themed. Our server was very nice and attentive and she was very knowledgeable about the menu and specials. The overall atmosphere was a bit more on the formal side but reminded me up upscale golf club vibes. A lot of polo shirts & button ups on the men and a lot of dresses on the women. It was quiet and made for a relaxing dinner. We opted to get the 100 year anniversary dinner for two which consisted of two surf & turf meals with filet mignon, lobster tail, potatoes and seasonal veggies and it came with two salads and two desserts! Before our dinner came out and almost immediately after we sat down we got half a loaf of fresh bread. The salad was nice and the dressing tasted homemade. The dinners were perfect! The filets were so tender they fell apart with the touch of your fork and the lobster was a good size and served with butter which had its own little tea-light chaffing dish. The mashed potatoes were creamy and the veggies were a nice touch! Overall great portion size as well! We took one dessert home but ate one there and it was a chocolate torte of sorts which was served with whipped cream and some berries! It was very rich chocolate and the berries tasted fresh! We also ordered an espresso which was nice with minimal bitterness so you know it was made correctly! Overall we had a wonderful dinner and if I'm ever back in the area I would love to come back for another meal!

As always, every restaurant begins with five stars. On the plus side: lovely ambience for a winter meal with the roaring fireplace in the three season room. The restaurant has been here for a very long time and could use some minor updates. I love the, pine paneling and the clubby vibe, but some of the tchotchkes really need to go. This was a special supper for my birthday celebration and the host was my son and daughter, so I do not know what the total tally for the meal was for five of us. Most of the items on the menu ranged in the $25-$35 per plate range for an entrée. Service was very pleasant, and the weight staff was dressed appropriately. Tables were crammed a bit too close together, but otherwise it was a cozy environment, and the crackling fire made for a lovely backdrop. We did not get into too many appetizers - just a Caprese salad. Unfortunately, the mozzarella was spongy and almost tasted like it had been frozen previously. I would pass on that one. Entrées: my daughter and sister ordered the short ribs, special with butternut squash, risotto, and steam vegetables. Nicely presented, and they were very pleased with the dish. My niece had the salmon, which appeared to be a bit overcooked. In fact, I don't recall the waitress asking for a temperature on the salmon. The glaze looked nice, and she seemed pleased with it. Now, for the disappointment: the special was tomahawk steak for two. my son, and I decided to go for it. What a total disappointment this was: all of the meals arrived to the table and sat getting cold in front of our guests, while the meter D fumbled with the tomahawk steak across the dining room. Table service would have been much more impressive and serving the tomahawk steak cut and placed back on the bone in the center of the table would have been the right thing to do. Unfortunately, the steak was carved in a very clumsy fashion, and the temperature was significantly off.we ordered rare to medium and got rare to raw. There was no sear on the outside of the steak and the pieces were dumped on ceremoniously on our individual plates with fat side on appealingly present. The fat on the steak was not properly rented nor cooked. This made for a very unappealing experience - chewy and rubbery texture on the steak. I do not know what my son paid for this special cut, but whatever it was, it was not worth it. The dessert options were very nice - they had a dessert sampler for two for about $29 which included three selections. Our table of five did well with two of those and we all shared but the waitress forgot to bring individual plates so the devil was in the detail. this is a solid 3 1/2 star restaurant but you do have to be careful about what your selection is. Nice for a quiet, family gathering, date night, but please leave the kids at home.

Slopped the potatoes onto the plate like we were in the Army field mess kitchen

Reminded me of diner food not the quality I had been used to over the years. The servers were overwhelmed and not properly trained. Didnt clear the table from one course to another. We're told to request the 7:00 pm seating because the the earlier times were "crappy "tables and that would be better at 7:00. Turns out our table was next to the silverware table and the clearing of tables area.

    Calabria Seafood Stew

We came here for a nice dinner during my sister's bachelorette weekend. The bread served came with a fantastic dip made of olive oil and various spices, perhaps sundried tomatoes? I wasn't exactly sure what was in it. I shared the ahi tuna tartare appetizer with someone and it tasted delicious. I got the seafood stew for myself. There was an insane amount of seafood in the stew, which was great. It said it was served over angel hair pasta but there was barely any noodles at all. However, the quality of the seafood was superb. My sister did not like her cocktail, saying it was very syrupy and another one of the girls in our party complained about her drink as well and sent it back. I personally did not order a cocktail. While the cocktails weren't great, the food was great!

Beautifully seared and delicious Pork Chop with Apple Chutney.

So yeah as you can imagine this place is pricey and is definitely for a special occasion. On this visit we had exceptional service and they even brought us free caviar! I have seen them do this before. We had a girls night here one time and one of my friends got there early. As she waited they gave her a complimentary glass of champagne. This type of customer service is amazing and is what is expected of an establishment of this caliber. I mean a room at the hotel here will cost you about $1000 a night. So as you can guess it is not unusual to see celebrities here as well. Before I get into the food I will tell you what made me give them 3 stars. One morning I brought a friend here that was going through something. I wanted to treat her to a nice breakfast. We sat on there terrace by the fire pits. As I've said before I've been here often. The waiter who was not as friendly as I've had before told me in order to eat there I needed to put a card on file. Huh? I've never seen that before but okay sure. I mentioned how I would likely order something to go to for my husband at the end of our meal. The service was not great because they did not come back and when they finally did they swiped my card and gave me the final check. Huh? I never said I was finished and again I had already mentioned I wanted to order something to go. When I asked this new waitress ( the original guy was no where in sight) why they ran my card already because I specifically said I wanted to order something to go her nonchalant response was that she could just run it again. I've thought about that experience. It felt so off and I would have said something more at the time but again I was having breakfast with a friend who was going through something. Not the time to complain. So when I met someone who worked there at a diffrent event. I shared my experience and asked if this is a policy of there's to put a card on file to eat on the terrace. As you can guess it is not. Unfortunately, as you can imagine I felt discriminated against. I guess our waiter assumed I wouldn't pay my check and wanted to make sure he had my card and he swiped it as soon as he saw us take the last bites on our plates. After I talked to this employee I did write the restaurant to let them know of this experience and sadly I got no reply. I will say I have been back since then and did not get treated that way. But I felt like it's important to let others know. This is by no means a cheap restaurant especially in the economy! I would expect not to be made to feel the way I felt that day and would never want at one to feel that way. Benefit of the doubt maybe that waiter did have someone run out on his check in the past and wanted to ensure it did not happen again. I can understand that because I know some restaurants make the waiter pay for those walkouts, which is also not fair to them. It would have been nice though that when I contacted them about the situation they would have acknowledged what happened. And maybe just better training on how to go about the situation to make sure their customers don't feel like you assume they are criminals. Okay the food. First there French fries are a favorite. Random I know but I appreciate a good fry. The steak was cooked perfectly and the cocktails were got were a 10! I've had food from the breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. The food is farm to table and I love sitting either outside or by the open kitchen as you watch the chefs cook. All and all I say it's worth going even for a cocktail. Sometimes they have live music playing and it's super cute for a nice date night. They do valet parking and have tons of charging stations.

Instead, we found a culinary gem. The space is spectacular -- bright, open, and surrounded by relaxing river ambiance. We began our evening on the outdoor balcony, but a sudden thunderstorm dropped a tsunami of rain prompting a quick relocation into the equally welcoming main dining room. Our waiter, a charming young man from Hungary, gave us an excellent primer on the menu, which expertly balanced accessible staples with high-end luxury (creeping all the way up to an eye-popping $155 Wagyu steak special -- there were only 15 servings available for the night we later found out). As Port lovers, we were floored by the beverage options. Living outside of Philadelphia, we're used to restaurants offering one or two uninspired Tawnys. Shadows boasts an embarrassment of riches. Our waiter candidly confessed Port wasn't his forte and quickly dispatched the sommelier, Enrique. The fluid, passionate back-and-forth that followed was incredible; we learned more about wine in five minutes with Enrique than in decades of traveling. We gladly handed him the steering wheel for the rest of the night. Because we were celebrating my birthday, we went all in. My wife crossed caviar off her bucket list and tried the delectable octopus -- a substantial steak rather than the usual fried bits at most establishments. After some enabling from my wife, I went temporarily insane and ordered the Wagyu. As frequent diners, it was the priciest plate I've ever ordered, and it was worth every single penny. From the kitchen's flawless execution to exceptional hospitality that extended from the GM to the bus staff, the evening was perfect. Yes, we dropped a small fortune, but entirely by choice -- the menu accommodates nearly all budgets. We left feeling like we made out like bandits because the memories were priceless. Several times during dinner I literally felt envious of the locals. I hope they realize what a treasure they have in their midst.

The mushrooms never got to drive off extra water because of the lack of salt, and the meat just fell flat without seasoning. I wanted to love this burger, but I just couldn't no matter how hard I tried. Had the crack pie, advertised to be similar to Monofuku Milk Bar... for someone who had crack pie multiple times before it became the phenomena it is now, this falls short, by a lot. The chess pie filling is far too dense, lacking caramelization. The pie crust was undercooked and anemic. Sugar decoration on top added zero value to the dessert, and coconut ice cream is far too competitive a flavor to put against this dessert. Sauces on the plate were weak and boring eye service. Paid my $80 bill, tipped (even though the bartender was rarely seen or asking how things were), and headed out. For a quiet weekday, the service and quality of food were severely underwhelming.
