Friday afternoon I was hungry and had never tried anything in the area. I stopped at what I thought was a deli, but it was closed. As I drove by the plaza, I figured someone here had to have food. It came down to a deli or takeout, and deli always wins. I walked in and immediately knew I made the right call. Counters filled with breads, sweets, bagels, and fresh food, and the smells in the air matched exactly what was in front of me. That's always a good sign. There was a menu posted with plenty to choose from. I went with the Black Forest sandwich and also grabbed three giant linzer tart hearts and an apple crumb horn. Price-wise, it felt right for what I got, and I'm always happy to support a local spot. The Black Forest was exactly what I needed on a winter afternoon. I ordered it as a hero and could only finish half. It was stuffed with hot turkey and melted Muenster cheese, and the bread had a great crunch while still keeping a nice chew. The Thousand Island dressing and coleslaw made every bite satisfying. It was definitely a wet sandwich with sauce dripping, and honestly, I loved that. I was excited for every bite. The apple crumb horn was delicious and a must-grab if you're there. It's like an apple pie but lighter and airier, with sweet, slightly crisp apples throughout. 5/5 stars. Saw there was a bagel shop near our VRBO and decided to try it out. Today is our 2nd day in a row coming lol the strawberry cream cheese is amazing! I've had the cinnamon raisin and rainbow bagels. Fantastic bagels with extremely tasty cream cheeses. I door dashed to my house in Poughkeepsie. I ordered a 1/2 dozen and two 1/2lb cream cheeses. I selected the herb cream cheese and the strawberry cream cheese. My favorite was the strawberry. It was the perfect sweetness with chunks or strawberries. The bagels themselves had wonderful flavor. If you're looking for a proper NY deli with a good bagel and a lot of other options you've found it. They have an extensive menu. I counted no less than 21 different menu signs hung up for you to choose from! I just came for a bagel though and for that, I wasn't disappointed. It was good. I got the veggie cream cheese on a toasted everything bagel. I'd eat it again. (I went to Empire Bagel down the road, the other day and ordered the same thing. A toasted everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. I would say the Bagel Shoppe has a slightly better bagel, but Empire Bagel has better veggie cream cheese.) I also ordered a mochachino coffee which was just so so. I think they made it with premade chocolate milk. I wouldn't order it again. Overall, I think most people would be completely satisfied by this place with all of its options. I give it a thumbs up. As someone who worked in the restaurant industry for many years, I will note that while they moved the long line pretty fast there are glaring inefficiencies in the bagel and cash register area. It seemed to me that they were doing so many extra steps and crossing over each other more than necessary. Most people pay with a card and the credit card reader is not next to the register. Instead, it's back in the corner. So for almost every purchase, they had to walk over somewhere else to finish checking someone out, inevitably crossing over each other, and there are a lot of people behind the counter! Regarding my order, another inefficiency I saw was that they're using a standard double toaster that you would see in someone's home to toast the bagels. The toaster is up on the shelf and the woman that served me couldn't even reach the toaster. She had to grab it and tilt it forward to put the bagel in and out. With the amount of foot traffic this place gets you would think they would invest in a small industrial toaster and put it where the employees could reach it. But hey, I don't work here. I don't even live here. I may or may not have a chance to come back, but I do recommend this place. Great bagels, with so many different choices for cream cheese flavors. I personally love the poppy seed rolls that come with the breakfast sandwiches. I've had the SEC, BEC, and just egg and cheese they're all good but the most filling is the sausage. The bacon egg and cheese's tend to not be filled with tons of bacon. Which is strange because if you ask for a bagel with bacon on it it's an outpouring amount of bacon on top! Maybe that's why there's a price difference. I've been coming here for years and every time coming in person is 1000x better than ordering on door dash. I don't think I'll order on DoorDash anymore everything always comes wrong or cold. For me the best option is calling my order ahead and doing pickup myself or just ordering in person. My overall favorite item is the large over sized black and white cookie I've ordered it for parties and birthdays it's always enjoyed by everyone. It's a tight fit of a little hole in the wall cafe/deli type but has a good 6-8 tables that seat 4 people each. Didn't love the food or experience at The Bagel Shoppe. Bagels were dry, not particularly flavorful, and cut poorly (super thick top and super thin bottom). Plus, the breakfast sandwich cheese tasted processed. The ordering process was also a bit chaotic -- employees take orders and then disappear for awhile before returning to ring customers up, which causes a backlog by the register. However, the prices were pretty low ($6 for a breakfast sandwich, $3 for a bagel with butter), so it's an alright spot to stop by for a quick meal during a drive. read more

Not only was the portion generous, but it was SUPER tasty. There is a small area inside to sit and eat, and 2 small tables for 2 outside. I needed to grab some bagels on Christmas Eve morning because of course everyone expected to arrive at my house by 1pm, so, not Christmas EVE. Annoying. But instead of dwelling on the fact that I had about 5 hours of cooking ahead of me, I visited the Bagel Shoppe. The chaotic scene in there didn't cheer me up, but there I was, waiting on a loooong line and admiring platter after platter of Italian goodness coming out. That's right. Italian. This is an Italian deli! And there's bagels. Kind of an interesting mash-up, but I get it. There's tables and I couldn't help but admire a table of Italian American dudes of all ages sitting around, shooting the shit like the Sopranos, while, presumably, their wives were all home getting the Feast of the Seven Fishes ready for dozens of people arriving later. Good thing I had things to observe. I waited about 20 minutes and finally it was my turn... only the grumpy older man behind the counter decided the grumpy older man behind me was more worthy of his attention. I politely but firmly said about three times, I'm next and both of them ignored me. And then I was fuming. But luckily the girls working there are both helpful and nice and one of them immediately helped me when I asked if I could be helped next since I was ignored by the other dude. "It's Christmas Eve," the older lady who was much further behind me on line but suddenly was paying for her order next to me. "Be happy that they are busy." "Oh, I'm thrilled they are busy, but I won't be ignored," I said, conjuring up my best inner Karen. OK boomers, mind yo business! For our first- and only- trip here we ordered two toasted bagels with creamed cheese and two hot drinks. Waited 14 minutes and received two cold, not toasted bagels with creamed cheese. Seating area was decently sized but be forewarned, the front door is propped open to the outdoors. The cashier then proceeded to help the customer who was after me, without taking my order. This customer had to tell the cashier I was next. At this point the cashier exasperatedly informed me that the line formed to the RIGHT of the cash register, not the LEFT. She used the word "cutthroat" to describe The Bagel Shoppe experience . Cutthroat!!! Bagels! This is a strip mall in Fishkill- not Wall Street. Bagel's were great! However, with the increase in COVID recently, it would be nice if the employees were wearing masks. Only 2 out of the 8 employees were wearing one, yet 9 out of 10 of the guests who come in were wearing it. Probably creating a cultural rift and making it super uncomfortable as an employee. With the large amount of tri-state area traffic that comes through beacon, it would be wise to protect your employees from each other as well as the foreign contaminants. Wearing a mask is a sign of mutual respect and a simple way to show you care about those around you.
