We asked Deanna to cater our 115 person, mountain top wedding with as much fire-prepared food as possible. Think Francis Mallmann (google him if you arent familiar). No running water. No electricity. She was game. She was more than game. She came ready to rumble and was cooking on the fire pit from morning until late night. Deanna is warm, talented, energetic, charming, and generous. She made amazing, locally sourced, fresh food our guests are still raving about. She has real relationships with farmers and producers in the area - her local connections are priceless. Her whole team never broke their professionalism and wowed us with their service and hospitality. She helped our moms serve apple pies instead of wedding cake. She sprinkled flowers all over the buffet tables. She shared with us all her beautiful old plates. She surprised us with a late night round of sloppy joes. She let us borrow all the props and baskets and water jugs for our whole wedding weekend, even for events that she wasn't specifically there for. I could go on and on. We postponed two times, and Chef Deanna was incredibly accommodating throughout it all. In fact -- she supported our decision to postpone (even the second time!) when so many people questioned why we were doing it. Postponing twice was absolutely the right decision, and we had our dream wedding on 4/9/22 of this year. Chef Deanna worked with us to create a menu that was rustic and aligned with our tastes/personalities. We did a barbecue buffet for the main course -- with macaroni and cheese, multiple types of meat, cornbread, etc. -- and a more classic cocktail hour with charcuterie/cheese etc. Everything was delicious. My only regret is that I didn't go up for seconds! In ADDITION to that, Chef Deanna provided her gorgeous vintage plates that were a perfect fit with our venue. You can really taste the love in this food - I would shack up with these samoas any night for dinner =P Okay, last one: why stand on a long line for some shakes or burger when this shack brings all the comfort you can want. What I actually ate was a regular samoas which was absolutely incredible. Easily the best (and biggest) samosa I've ever had. I also tried the tofu chicken samosa which was very very tasty & I can almost see it being like a breakfast samosa! I also tried the biryani which I'm still searching for the right description of the amazing flavor in that jackfruit but all I can think is I've never tasted a meat substitute with so much "meat" flavor. It took me back to being a kid and eating some sort of lamb or even a delicious sausage cooked on an outside home grill. The sauces were all super yummy too but to be perfectly honest I didn't even use all of them because the food is just so very flavorful on it's own. We absolutely feel in love with the menu at our tasting and the food at our wedding was cooked to perfection. We got married at Locust Grove, which has a full kitchen setup. Our guest raved about the food for weeks! (We're still hearing about it from friends and family). The beef tenderloin was fantastic, our guests raved about how perfect it was cooked, a true feat especially when prepared in mass. Everyone loved the chicken empanadas, the mojo chicken, the charcuterie cones, and the tuna tartar. We opted for a vegetarian pállela for our vegan/vegetarian friends and it was a hit. The deal was sealed when everyone lined up for seconds of dessert, Flan and Ice Cream. Then Zach (Zack?) made these lamb skewers and halloumi skewers. The lamb was honestly like the lamb at Miznon it was so good. The cheese on the board, in addition to the Halloumi skewers, was also unreal. He made us something else special too but I can recall. All you have to know is it was gluten free, low carb, and bomb. Most impressively, not a single person with dietary restriction felt like they were missing out in any way. Everything that made it onto the table was fresh, delicious, and perfectly presented. Jeanette also took excellent care of our vendors, and was so good about keeping everything on schedule and running smoothly.
