They make a really good Taylor ham egg and cheese. They made my breakfast sandwich pretty quickly, but I went pretty late on a weekday so there's only one person ahead of me, so perhaps around 6 AM for 7 AM, or whenever they open, it might be a bit busier. Good spot for breakfast if it's on your way to work. This was my first time here and I would've came sooner since moving to Middletown but unfortunately it is not on my way to work. But if for some reason, I end up around here in the mornings, I can definitely see myself coming back. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find this place open during a snowstorm on Saturday. I slid into the parking lot - literally, and went inside with snow in my hair and on my glasses. That's how bad it was at that moment. The lady behind the county was very friendly and quickly took my order. We chose a couple plain bagels with cream cheese, cinnamon raisin with cream cheese and one bacon, egg and cheese For my daughter. They had so much in there I wanted but I had to restrain myself lol. Note to self. Go back for the mini black & white cookies. Everything was warm, soft and delicious. They made an awful start to the day much better with the perfect little breakfast. 3 and 1/2 stars for food. Five stars for price. Came in here yesterday for a breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, cheese, salt, pepper, ketchup on a TOASTED everything bagel). I also ordered three specialty bagels and a small coffee. All of that was only $10.80. Service was excellent as it always is anytime I come here so I don't know what people are complaining about. The sandwich was MEH at best. It wasn't toasted and the bacon was chewy not crispy so I had to spit some of that out. The overall flavor wasn't great because I believe that the bagel was too breaded. The best part of the trip was the coffee. WOW THAT WAS THE BEST CUP OF COFFEE I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME. SURE WISHED I HAD GOTTEN A LARGE. TASTED GREAT AND GOT MY BLOOD PUMPING. I asked about my order and was told by the owner it would be right up, and that the others called ahead. No, I watched the others order, with you, at the counter! Long story short, I get home to find no SPK like I had ordered, just egg and cheese slapped on the bagel to rush me out the door, it wasn't a complicated order. Now it explains why I've witnessed others leaving the store cursing on a few occasions. This will be my last visit. You have multiple locations it's about time you update your POS system and focus more, it's mass confusion behind the counter. read more

Sooo good. They just opened a second location in Newburgh. Soo happy OC bagel did. I am a bagel and bacon egg and cheese person. OC bagel has fresh hand rolled bagels. Many different types and varietys. The price is defiantly what keeps me coming back. I usually get a bacon egg and cheese. Or a sausage egg and cheese on a bagel. Sometimes I choose a sesame seed. Poppy or everything bagel. Depends on my mood. The price is like $3.50. That's not bad at all. In Manhattan I pay like $5-9 for the same thing. Crazy. But the bagels are super fresh and well worth it. OC bagel has a full deli as well with boars head cold cuts. They have a lot of different sandwiches hot and cold. I have never ordered anything other than breakfast at OC bagel. I also know they have a lot of salad options as well. I'm a fan of the OC bagel. Really fresh bagels. Hand rolled. I really hope whoever is in charge of Orange County Bagel sees this review, because never have I encountered a place with so much potential, yet fell so flat. Although I don't know the Middletown/Dolson Avenue area like the back of my hand, from what I can tell, it needs a place just like OCBB claims to be. A quaint, hip, tasty new bagel joint that serves up coffees, breakfast, and lunch without forking your money over to a franchise. Most importantly, this area needs a place people can get excited about. I overheard a few co-workers praise OCBB when it first opened for it's proximity to our office, and delicious store-baked (or boiled?) bagels. Needless to say, I was eager to try it. Having missed my opportunity for breakfast, I managed to hit OCBB during lunch hours, around 1pm. When I entered, there wasn't a single customer there. Great for me, but not so much for the restaurant. Customers will notice a warm, modern, and fresh decor upon entering OCBB. A specialty sel-serve coffee bar fills the back wall. Ample seats and tables comprise the middle of the restaurant, while the massive ovens they use to bake the bagels reside behind the counter. Upon closer inspection, you'll find customized napkin dispensers at each table, wall-mounted HDTVs, and a specialty sandwich menu. I was getting excited. OCBB had everything going for it, until I walked to the counter. I was never greeted by an employee, which I can happily look past if the restaurant is busy, but I was the only customer in OCBB at the time. After reading through the very appetizing sandwich menu several times, I settled on " Da Balboa"--roast beef, turkey, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and dressing--and sat down to wait for it. 10 minutes later, I picked up my sandwich at the counter, and noticed the plate was from Sam's club, the same plates I use at home. A minor detail, and yes I'm being picky, but it degraded the sandwich to something I cold've made at home. I ordered both Russian and horseradish as my "dressing", and must commend the sandwich maker on providing the perfect ratio of Russian-to-'radish, it was perfect. Although the sandwich was panini pressed, the Boar's Head cold cuts on the interior were still cold, and the sandwich wasn't served with cole slaw and a pickle as advertised. When I brought it back to the counter to wrap up the second half, I mentioned the lack of extras, and the cashier immediately threw in two containers of cole slaw and a pickle, which I very much appreciated. However, instead of wrapping the individual sandwich half up, he threw aluminum foil around the entire plate and handed that to me, which I did not appreciate. OCBB has everything going for it! Location, decor, etc etc. Unfortunately, their staff made my experience less than spectacular, proving good work is hard to come by. I will be back to OCBB, hoping my experience described above was just an off day. I really want to see them do well. Stay tuned. read more

Don't go here unless you like to be overcharged. They raised their prices in the computer a month ago but did not raise the prices on their board. Someone should inform the owner that he should get a new board first with the new prices first and then raise the prices in the computer or just take the price board down. Someone should inform the state so they can get fined. read more

New to the area,tried a few different bagel places. This place took credit cards,the other one didn't. The other place was just OK,this place sucked. Came in at 09:00 am,no sesame bagels and maybe a few others still available. Ordered 6 of what was left,4 everything 2 onion bagels. Felt the bag,not even close to warm,hard as a rock. One bagel was half normal size and had a hole bigger than the bagel,$5.50 for stale bread. Suggestion:go to Shoprite get 1/2 dozen for $3.99,and they are fresh,made next door at the place that doesn't take credit cards. read more

Last year while shopping in Middletown, I asked some folks where to go for a good bagel in Middletown. I was told "Orange County Bagels" on Dolson. I somehow ended up eating somewhere else. Well today, hubby and I were going to look at cars in New Hampton and I said that we should stop for a bagel at this place. It is a really modern and nice looking place...almost industrial looking. We both ordered the Lox, Onion, Tomato and Cream Cheese Bagel for $7.99. I was surprised how generous the lox was and how fresh and delicious the sandwich tasted. I was so full from this at 10:00 a.m. that I skipped lunch entirely. I would definitely come back and order the same thing. Guess the owners are doing something right because they have a location now in Goshen and one opening in Newburgh shortly. read more

Just stopped at Orange County bagel to grab a salad to go. I ordered the Greek Salad that clearly stated it was 6.59 on the menu written above on the board. My final price was 11.50 for a plain Greek salad, all veggies. Kinda crazy pricey!!!! I found out at check out that it was a per pound price for the salad and at a price of 6.99, very misleading. There was a sign on the salad bar area stating that chopped salad bar was 6.99. I thought this was a create your own price and not something that applied to all salads. Please get rid of your signs that are hanging with the wrong prices. They are misleading, upsetting, and apparently serve no purpose. read more

Pretty decent bagels, sometimes they are hard or if you go to late there usually sold out of certain types. We used to get there home fries but they changed the way they made them and we don't particularly like, but there bagels are good and so are the toppings. read more

Don't waste your cash here. Overcharged several times, workers make up pricing as they go. Rude lady at counter charged me $15 for a Black and White cookie, meanwhile they get it from Entenmann's and repackage it (the boxes were in plain sight.) $8 for a small container of cream cheese...? $6.50 for a small piece of crumb cake? We aren't in Manhattan and their food isn't good enough to justify paying any more than any other bagel shop. If you like paying double or more for the same thing you can get on the same street for less, this is where you go. I won't be back.
