Admittedly, I fall a lot closer to the latter, but I appreciate the juxtaposition. According to the sign outside, they specialize in fresh dressed game birds, undoubtedly sourced by the group of guys running the attached gun shop (which is also decorated by some local taxidermist). I can't understand why they have a photo of that reality TV star that used to fire people up on the wall, but that's neither here nor there. The staff did seem annoyed that we wanted to spend way too much money getting sandwiches and groceries with them, but at least they were efficient, and the selection is eclectic and fun. They've got fresh wild turkey eggs, a surprisingly great selection of cheese, all kinds of house-cured meats, as well as the standard array of deli meats with which they'll make you some pretty decent sandwiches. There's also all sorts of sauces, jams, pickled pineapple (!) local honey, beer, cider, some bizarrely priced minced dried onion...I had a blast poking around and overpaying for a random assortment of edible delights (although some were more delightful than others). I'd like to come back with more of a plan to try their poultry, or at least some fresh ground beef, the bacon, and more.

PARKING: Enough parking for the time of day I was there…read morewhich was after normal lunch and before the supper crowd. This is the first time I've been in this deli so I didn't know what to expect. The staff is very friendly. IMPORTED STAPLES: The shelves are a bit bare, but they did have some Large canned peppers ($6.99), and tomato products from Italy, fresh Italian bread, and a well stocked freezer. SPECIALS: The special sandwich of the day was fried fish on a round roll. (It's Friday and Lenten season so I opted to keep my mama happy.) GOOD CHOICE: While they were preparing that I shopped a bit for some Italian provisions. Olive oil from Sicily and another cold pressed single origin. MY PURCHASES: two nice olive oils from Italy, a commercial sized can of fire roasted peppers for my pan pantry, two packs of REAL philo dough ( $3.99! Yay), mozzarella, 1/2 lb of sliced roast beef, and a beautiful sandwich. What they lack in ambience they made up for in flavors. The bill of about $68, the smiles were gratis. BTW The fried scrod sandwich was about $11 and well worth it. My pet peeve is when sandwiches have shredded lettuce and instead of a whole lettuce leaf. My fault I'm sure they would've given me the whole Leaf if I had asked. As you'll see in the photograph, the fish fillet was generously portioned, dusted with Italian breadcrumbs and deep fried - not greasy at all. It was very light and flavorful, the round roll was fresh and the perfect vessel for this sandwich. I would definitely consider returning there again if I'm in the neighborhood .

My daughter requested seafood for her birthday dinner so I headed to Adam's Poughkeepsie location…read more If you can find a parking space, remember to bring a quarter with you because at this location, you are required to insert a quarter to rent the cart. Presumably this is because of the proximity to City Of Poughkeepsie, but I see no reason for it. This location has a bit of a confusing situation because you really need to remember which entrance you use so you can get back to your vehicle without having to circle the entire building with an overflowing cart of groceries. They are pros and cons to shopping here. Staff is extremely friendly to the point where you feel like you're at a neighborhood small grocery. But this place is massive with an abundance of imports and unique offerings from around the region. I belong to a farm cooperative, so I don't usually need vegetables. However, in this case, I did shop produce to locate some organic options to serve with the scallops and shrimp. The presentation is wonderful, but the prices are outrageous. Year over year, the same items that I purchased at Adam have increased by at least 30%. Some of that is due to the current geopolitics, but some of it is just plain exorbitant pricing. My purchase: A stop at Seafood to make sure they had 2 pounds of sea scallops approximately $24 per pound- wild caught. And the colossal shrimp more than $20 per pound also wild caught. Next stop a birthday cake - everything looks wonderful and I'm sure that there are items that are not mass produced with lots of fillers, but idea say that they probably use the same cake mixes as the less pricey supermarkets. Regardless, I had no time to bake so I picked up a 6 inch carrot cake - $26. And a fresh fruit tart 9 inch $29. Ouch, one note about the fruit tart is that the strawberries were not hold which makes for very.com cumbersome dining. You serve a lovely piece of fruit tart, and your guest has to dissect the strawberry to take the leaves off. It doesn't look that great and it is not appetizing. A quick stop to pick up organic broccoli. What the heck! Roughly $12 for two bunches of broccoli. I must be out of my mind. It was a birthday and I don't have any broccoli at home so I bit the bullet Over to the cheese counter where you can find exceptional values, and Exceptional imports My pic today was Bulgarian feta cheese, which is not easy to find, a beautiful French Camembert, and a block of Gouda. A loaf of bread, and a quick run to the clearance section at the back of the store where I scored pretty well with about 2 pounds of beautiful grapes for two dollars and a dragon fruit for under two dollars. A 12 pack of Parker General rolls $2.50 a quick run past the pasta department for the Italian produced linguine and onto the cash register. My cart was full and I knew my wallet would be empty soon so I headed home. Shopping at Adams is an experience rather than a chore. Please don't go on an empty stomach because you will soon regret it. You're not gonna find samples here for tasting, but you can ask at the cheese counter if you're not sure about a potential purchase and they will oblige. I do .

We stopped here on the way to the airport and were immediately amazed with the customer service. John and Brady were phenomenal. We ordered the small Italian club with Chicken cutlet and the Vittorio. We also got a large Muffaletta with the olive salad on the side, pesto chips, mixed pickled veggies salad and a cannoli. We wanted to change since we were going to the airport so we had to use the restroom. That's where we encountered John. He is such a lovely man. He was so sweet and I enjoyed our conversation. My sister was throughly impressed with Brady's customer service. He made her feel at home and was very friendly. All of our food was good. They devoured the veggie salad on the car ride to the airport and we ate some of the sandwiches too. The portions are big and you can share. It is located on a back street with not much activity, and I was able to find parking quickly, which is key when you are on a work break. As soon as I walked in, the smells and sights of an authentic Italian deli were exactly what you hope for. There is a menu with plenty to choose from and a pastry case that I already know I will be coming back to try next time. I went with the Blue Ribbon panini, and in about ten minutes I had a hefty sandwich wrapped and ready to go. When I sat down to eat and picked it up, it did not disappoint. Chicken cutlet, ham, honey mustard, roasted tomatoes, Swiss cheese, and great bread. Everything blended together perfectly. On the first bite, the chicken cutlet burned my mouth in the best way possible. The tomatoes and honey mustard tied it all together and made it incredibly satisfying. I could only eat half because it was such a heavy sandwich. My dad finished the other half and shared the same appreciation for a really good panini. The next time I am working nearby, I know exactly where I am going, and I will definitely be trying the cannoli and the black and white cookies. 5 out of 5 stars.

It slightly pains me to write this review, as my first experience at Cosimo's was soooooo good…read more Let's get on with it tho. We visited on the Friday before V-day, the house was packed around 18:30. The wait was 45 mins which wasn't too bad for a Friday night. We decided to wait in the lobby after trying to find a cozy waiting spot near the bar and missing. My wife attempted to order me a mocktail, but of course the bar was crazy busy. When the bartender finally acknowledged her, the mocktail requests obviously threw the bartender for a loop because I ended up with watered down ginger beer and a sprig of mint. My advice for anyone looking for a virgin drink at this bar would be to order a club soda with lime and call it a night. We were seated at the 45 min mark, and were escorted to the packed bar, where they have some exterior tables for diners. My seat was in the middle of the couch split, which I found mighty uncomfortable so we opted to request a seat in the main dining room, which the staff happily obliged. With dinner we ordered hot tea and were given lukewarm water and a choice of Stash teas. Our beverage experience here was very disappointing. The calamari arrived and may have been the only highlight, although we didn't find it to have that fresh calamari texture. My wife ordered a ravioli with mushroom, and felt the pasta and veggies were just swimming in butter. I ordered my steak medium and it was okay, but the juices from the greens made the croquettes soggy, and unenjoyable. The server did his best, and all the staff here are so kind. Coulda been an off night but I doubt we'll be back anytime soon. The Mocktail Madam.
