I was in a hurry tonight so I thought it would be nice to pick up a couple of Italian dishes . I had a craving for manicotti . I looked on Yelp and saw Vera's who got a pretty good rating, 4.3. I have gotten pizza from there before and it was enjoyable. However, tonight was a bust for me!!! I ordered Manicotti, Lasagna and two sides of meatballs. . It came with side salads but I ordered a chef salad to go along with it. I figured this would be enough to share among four. When I opened up the bag I noticed it was wet, with sauce. Ok, that happens once in a while, right? . Well, I was not only SHOCKED, but very disturbed and disgusted by what I saw. There's one container that looks like someone's left over Ravioli. Something that was not ordered by me at all. The second took a while to identify because of the way it was thrown inside the container. I believe it was supposed to be the Manicotti only because I noticed a round section on one end. This $40.00 Italian dinner for four was a disappointment for all. By the time I got home it was too late to place an order somewhere else. I am not a happy customer at all right now . I'm 65 years old and have gotten plenty of takeout orders throughout the years!!! I was born in the Bronx myself. Had trouble finding decent pizza north of Westchester County for years. VERA's siciliano style ( photos here) are solid four stars, primarily for their crust.. The texture is perfect crispy on the bottom, fluffy in the center, the right amount of cheese. Just a dash more sauce and it would be perfection. Remember, at this place you're not going for the ambience. Typical pizzeria: a few booths and a busy pizza oven. Easy to miss unless you know where it is. It's a tiny little shop located in the same plaza as CVS next to the Chinese restauran. TIP: Try their Sicilian but ask for extra sauce. read more

Came here to see how much it would be for them to cater subs to my baby shower & it was super cheap, only $15 per foot. Slices are only as good as the pizza that originally came out of the oven, right? So given how good my slices of pepperoni were for lunch.... This was pepperoni pizza exactly the way I like it. The crust was approaching crispy, it would have been had it been left in the oven another 30-45 seconds, and the slices were of a pretty generous size too. I see they also do subs and dinners - maybe one of these days I'll try some, but for now, it's about the pizza. read more

I've been driving past this place for months and finally decided to try it. I got a couple different slices to try. The cheese pizza was delicious it wasn't too greasy and just the right amount of cheese. I also got the tomato slice and the Buffalo chicken. I tasted all 3 and I found them all quite enjoyable. I will definitely stop in here again for a quick affordable slice of pizza again. The staff was friendly and helpful I didn't eat there so I can't comment on anything other than the pizza. yummy .. Visiting and helping out with grandkids during this trying time. Pass this place all the time and was reluctant to stop in but gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised. Very good pizza! Truly a NY pie thin cooked perfectly not greasy. This a non assuming old school pizza place not trying to wow you with smoke and mirrors just good product.
