We found Dutch Crown through the Karpo App, which highlighted their excellent sourdough crust, so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is a small establishment with street parking only, but we were able to find a spot without too much trouble. Walking in, the atmosphere was pretty simple and straightforward. There wasn't anything particularly memorable about the décor, and it reminded me of a neighborhood bar from the 1980s. That said, it was clean, comfortable, and felt like a casual local spot. The service was one of the highlights of our visit. Everyone was friendly, our order was taken quickly, and the staff was attentive throughout our meal. We both ordered build-your-own pizzas, and while they were good, the crust wasn't quite what we expected. The sourdough crust was actually the thinnest pizza crust I've ever had and didn't have the fermented sourdough flavor or texture I've experienced elsewhere. I was also a little disappointed that there wasn't a vegan cheese option, especially considering the extensive menu and variety of toppings available. That said, the pizzas were enjoyable, but both of us tend to prefer a slightly thicker crust. If you're a fan of ultra-thin crust pizza, Dutch Crown will likely be right up your alley. While it wasn't exactly what we were expecting based on the sourdough description, the friendly service and quality ingredients still made for a pleasant dining experience. read more

Popped in again for the Pizza Parmigiana and a Juice Bomb IPA. We love to visit midafternoon before the crowd and be indulged by that VIP customer service. We had a great experience at the Dutch Crown en route to some Catskills camping. Just us and a dude at the bar - service was fast and friendly. We shared a beer (local Kolsch from Return) and ordered a pepperoni and CBR (chicken bacon ranch). These are thin sourdough - something I look for. Our daughter wanted fries for the table. They were delicious. Pizzas we great, too. CBR was lighter, so it actually felt a little healthier as far as pizza goes. Just the right amount of ranch for flavor but not drenched. The pepperoni is the decedent of the two - tons of ronis, dripping in roni grease. My son requested ranch, which was a good choice. 2 pizzas were a good amount for our family of 5 (3 small children). I know most of the reviews are great. My experience was horrible and will never go there again. I wanted to have the bolognese. They said they had none left. I said how about spaghetti and meatballs. They said there were no meatballs left. I tried the chicken wings and they seemed like precooked wings that were just warmed with some sauce thrown on them. I had penne alavoka with chicken. The penne was acceptable but the chicken was unrecognizable. Hard to find and when you did, it was like having the consistency of a slice of white bread. My wife had the ceaser salad with chicken and it was tasteless and again the chicken unrecognizable. Had high hopes but felt like we were taken advantage of. The heating was almost nonexistent. Pretty terrible, This service was abysmal. The waiter was pleasant but it took 2 hours to make 2 small pizzas and a plate of meatballs. The most notable part was when I saw the chef use his bare hands to put the meatballs on the serving plate and tear the mozzarella. When we did get our pizzas 2 hours later they were cold! How is that possible. The beer listed on the menu was not available? The restaurant was cold, the heat must not have been working. Maybe they were relying on the heat from the ovens, but I don't think the ovens were working either. Other tables left before the food arrived. I ordered for delivery and they didn't start making it until the driver arrived. Sausage was so burnt I could barely chew it! They could've had a little bit more care making a pizza. I paid how much extra for each topping and they just threw the basil on there in such a rushed way. this pizza was 25$ why accept the order if you're not going to make it when customers place the order. I went there again for pizza and wings. It did not dissapoint! The chef/owner is really cool and gracious.

They lost a star because of their non-pizza related food. Went here on a date, we started off with fried calamari and there were random fried vegetables included which I've never heard of or seen before. I bit into an onion thinking it was calamari, they had other vegetables in there too. I thought I ordered fried calamari not whatever I got. Their pizza though, is absolutely phenomenal. Thin crust, different sauces, delicious pepperoni, fresh, decent sized. It def tasted like good quality. I got the Drunken Pepperoni which was 5/5. I will def be back to try their other pizzas, as well as other non-pizza related food but will avoid the calamari at all costs. read more

Rounding up, more like 3.5 New pub in the old Spanky's location which has sat vacant for decades. The inside is really cute and homey and welcoming. There is a bar with a TV, some tables in the bar area and more in a second room. It pains me to write this because I really want them to succeed and I want great sourdough pizza near me, but we've visited twice and both times the pies have fallen a bit flat. First visit we ordered the riccardo with sausage on half and we got that, but it was also missing the potatoes and rosemary and was really bland. And the crust was too doughy and undercooked. I love thin crust pizza but it has to be crispy. But they had just opened and figured their would be some growing pains. Second time we ordered take out and went with the classic house pie. Again the dough was just undercooked, the flavor was a bit better, but very sparse on the cheese. Also ordered a side of meatballs which tasted great, but were very pricey at $12...the same price as the pie. Not sure why the pies are so undercooked but I think it must be their their oven. The pizza photos they share on social media look so amazing, but the pies we've had just don't look like that. Food was very tasty and seasoned very well on the high end of pizzerias. I ordered 2 pizzas and they were flavorful and delicious -obviously cooked in a wood fired oven. My only critiques are that one pizza crust was burnt (which I don't mind). The Caesar salad was delicious and crunchy. Maybe could have used a couple more croutons. I only got two. We were visiting Poughkeepsie area recently and stopped by The Dutch Crown for lunch. We ordered a House Pie, added Spinach and Mushrooms to the pie. Also ordered The Riccardo Pie and two orders of Eli's Secret Spice fries (A MUST try!), everything was DELICIOUS! Service was excellent, our waitress was attentive and friendly! Finally seeing this building become an actual establishment again is just the tip of the iceberg with The Dutch Crown. Great sour dough pizza by very friendly staff. The salad came out without tomatoes. The pizza was lukewarm and the breaded frozen deep fried wings came out last. The waitress was working both the bar and the restaurant. I had a reservation for May 17 through there website and yours and when I arrived they knew nothing about it and told me they do not do reservations and not sure why yelp does this . On your website it clearly states reserve a table but I guess the large parties that were there were more important and more profitable then my party of 5 . Your customer service skills are deplorable and after we walked out you went and canceled the reservation on the yelp/google assistant so a survey would not be sent to me and you actually saw the reservation that you ignored all week and would not honor. read more

This is my boyfriend and I's favorite place to go for a good beer and AMAZING pizza! The pizza with the vodka sauce is my absolute favorite!!!! Chefs kiss! This was a cute pizza bar! The pizza was pretty good, we had the drunken pepperoni which was made with vodka sauce. It could have used more sauce, but other than that it was delicious.
