PARKING: Enough parking for the time of day I was there which was after normal lunch and before the supper crowd. This is the first time I've been in this deli so I didn't know what to expect. The staff is very friendly. IMPORTED STAPLES: The shelves are a bit bare, but they did have some Large canned peppers ($6.99), and tomato products from Italy, fresh Italian bread, and a well stocked freezer. SPECIALS: The special sandwich of the day was fried fish on a round roll. (It's Friday and Lenten season so I opted to keep my mama happy.) GOOD CHOICE: While they were preparing that I shopped a bit for some Italian provisions. Olive oil from Sicily and another cold pressed single origin. MY PURCHASES: two nice olive oils from Italy, a commercial sized can of fire roasted peppers for my pan pantry, two packs of REAL philo dough ( $3.99! Yay), mozzarella, 1/2 lb of sliced roast beef, and a beautiful sandwich. What they lack in ambience they made up for in flavors. The bill of about $68, the smiles were gratis. BTW The fried scrod sandwich was about $11 and well worth it. My pet peeve is when sandwiches have shredded lettuce and instead of a whole lettuce leaf. My fault I'm sure they would've given me the whole Leaf if I had asked. As you'll see in the photograph, the fish fillet was generously portioned, dusted with Italian breadcrumbs and deep fried - not greasy at all. It was very light and flavorful, the round roll was fresh and the perfect vessel for this sandwich. I would definitely consider returning there again if I'm in the neighborhood . read more

We live 7 minutes down the street from Delforno's and I love that I can walk there daily. They have home made foods available, like pasta and Mac and cheese for grab and go and great sandwiches. I love how they have cold cuts and a small array of produce like potatoes, celery and onions so I don't have to drive to the grocery store for just that. The staff is very friendly, it is your typical ambiance , basically the neighborhood deli and I wish MORE people stopped by. They make the sandwiches on the spot. They accept cards and they have a small cash tip jar for the young guys that make the sandwiches. It seems that their clientele is actually the locals and I couldn't love it more. If you live in the neighborhood, I recommend you stop by. read more

Delicious Italian deli. I got the roast beef with mayo, pepper jack, spicy peppers, onions, grilled on a delicious roll. It was a wonderful sandwich and I have good standards for sandwiches. We got these sandwiches as a family and we will live together as a family over holidays. The family that loves together eats sandwiches together and we will forever eat sandwiches at Delforno's because they are the most awesome sandwiches in Poughkeepsie at an Italian deli. My family and I have been patronizing this deli for years and I feel it time I share the news of this hidden gem with others rather than keeping it all to myself This past weekend was no different as it was my mom's 80th birthday. We picked up trays of broccoli rabe, penne à alla vodka, chicken marsala and sausage and peppers. All I can say is every single bit of food was beyond delicious. We had about 20 people at the party and I had to give the phone number and address to no less than 10 people as they were so impressed with the quality and taste of the food. The owner was even kind enough to let us use their insulated carrying case for all the food to keep it nice and hot. Ann and her son do a fabulous job with anything we've ever ordered from them... It feels like they're cooking for family as the devotion and care they put into their dishes definitely shines through. The store is very nicely stocked with plenty of Italian brand products and lots of pre-prepared food that you can take home and heat up when short on time but want a good meal. Their deli sandwiches are also beyond anything you could possibly hope for. They are light years ahead of anyone else in the Hudson Valley... And believe me I've tried lots of places. Again, I just wanted to share my experience with this establishment as I really think it's a hidden gem that needs to be discovered by more people My family and I will continue having our events catered by DelForno's.....Definitely a must if anyone is in the area and wants a good sandwich or needs an event catered. This was my favorite restaurant in Poughkeepsie, and it's not even a restaurant. The have the most delicious hot sandwiches. My favorite was the Italian chicken cutlet sandwich--such a New York Italian American classic--with broccoli rabe, mozzarella and a perfectly crisp chicken cutlet on a very fresh and delicious kaiser/hard roll. It's a wonderful place for prepared food--the spinach is so garlicky and fresh. Jared is a great cook and makes everything in the store the same day. Sometimes there are delicious baked goods made by Jared's wife in the front, which I always enjoyed. The imported food section has hard to find specialty items like fregola pasta. Everything's done at a very high level--the food is delicious and simple, the store is very clean, and the proprietors, Jared and his mom, are warm, kind and hard-working, and non-intrusive, which is such a relief in the college-adjacent area the store is in. I'm happy to see they're still in business and hope they continue to succeed. read more

They are a great neighborhood deli. The prices are a little high but you pay for what you get. The quality is amazing. The woman who answers the phone the mother is the best. And the son is a great guy. There the opitadmy of mom and pop good wholesome people. read more
