The corn I got last month was so good you could eat it raw, and this is a great place to pick up local apples as they come into season. If you visit at just the right time, you might even find some Concord grapes (they're like eating grape juice). The homegrown and local selections change with the seasons (oh the bok choy I got last week was so good too!), and they supplement those items with non-local fare so you can get more of what you need in one stop. There are lots of great farm markets in this area, but I think this one's the best.

Their bakery items looked decent for the most part, but banana bread for $12? I checked the ingredient label for the individual slices of banana bread for $1.99, and would have tried it, except that bananas were listed close to the end of the list. Put prices on your stuff. Otherwise it seems that if you have to ask, you can't afford it. Either that, or your prices are whatever you choose to charge at that moment to that person.

Last year, they had the BEST warm apple cider donuts - and their hot apple cider was the real deal, not that watered-down stuff you get everywhere else. It was the perfect combo for a chilly autumn day. I was really looking forward to making Dressells Farm a regular weekday stop this fall for that specific treat, but it's a shame they only offer it on weekends. Hopefully, they'll consider offering the hot cider and fresh donuts every day next year so more people can enjoy them!

It was very crowded, it could've been the beautiful weather for the end of October. The fall foliage really added to the experience. Picked up a couple of things; apple cider, apple cider donuts, apple butter. Paid cash; but they have no way to give you a receipt or email one to you. They don't accept Apple Pay. It's a little confusing in the shop; there's one long line and only two cashiers. There's the usual hayrides and activities for children. They could use more parking. The crushed gravel is difficult to navigate for someone who has mobility issues.

(Which would be enjoyed later on in the day with cheese from Dancing Ewe and seckel pears from Migliorelli's, both of the Rhinebeck Market.) Don't pass up the chewy, delightful pretzel rolls! We bought several to give to our friends in NJ and they were a BIG hit. (Seasonal cranberry / apple and also sea salt. Also found at the New Paltz market.) There were fewer farmers at this market on this October Sunday but the produce vendors there had top quality items. And the friendly woman at the info booth at the end of the market was offering samples of home baked apple crisp as well as tastings of local applies. I have to credit Taliaferro for almost single-handedly increasing my vegetable consumption from that of a picky child who eats only corn (I jest, sort of) to me claiming, last night, that I could be a vegetarian if for some reason I needed to... except for beef. I love the challenge of cooking seasonally with their offerings for the week, and they give you a push in the right directions with their newsletter, which lists recipes for some of the more unusual offerings each week.

Upon arrival each person pays a $10 cover charge that you receive a ticket for use in the country store in the amount of $10, so technically you get your money back as long as you buy something. Honestly the visiting experience was only okay, I am not sure I'd go back or recommend it BUT this is tempered by the fact that I did buy the biggest, prettiest mum and I may go back again for another one next year. I definitely have the nicest mum in all of Jersey City.
