I discovered "The Farmer's Wife" sourdough breads there (from Pawling), and love the salad greens from nearby Sky Farm, plus Big Pine honey, etc. etc. It's like a farmer's market on its own - I often go there as well as a side trip to see what's on at the Millerton Farmer's Market. It's just the right size to not feel overwhelmed but all of the products are Hudson Valley born in bred. I made several stops along the way There are plenty of places to park, but you will have to walk a few blocks in either direction. The walk will be interesting as main street has lots of unique shops, boutiques, and restaurants to choose from By the time you get to the Beacon farmers market, you'll be in the mood for a delicious by to eat. And bring the dog because there are plenty of people hitting the streets and begin with their furry family and Tow. You'll find unique booths with local Rice growers who hand plant rice and weed through using old-school methods. No pesticides because they use ducks in the patties to maintain water pests. Another great stop would be the mushroom vendor toward the end. Please see my video attached. Food from every corner of the world is represented here under about 75 tents. We had a beautiful day but even on a cloudy day or light rain I think you can have a great time here. Don't forget to shop on Main Street on your way back to the car. I stopped at a Thai tea shop for a shaved ice that was phenomenal. And Alps chocolate has their factory on Main Street as well. They're a regional Chocolatier, but I know there's even a step up chocolate tear further down on Main Street. While you're at the farmers market, do not forget to pick up treats for yourself and treats for your dog. Next time I'm bringing more cash because there were so many tents that called to me that I couldn't budget in this time around.

It's summer, it's hot, so of course expect the heat to sizzle up but if you pop in a bit on the earlier side you'll be sure to have a breezy experience. The day we went they even had a cooler with free ice to chill off! I loved the layout of this market and the amount of different vendors there and variety. From cute tote bags to dog treats and fresh produce. Beacon's Farmers market has you covered with so many local businesses ready to welcome you. It's the perfect chance to do a little stroll if you're in Beacon but also a great chance to discover and shop local. We left with a delicious bottle of maple syrup, some kombucha and a pickle on the go from Tony's Pickles.

Just another example of the fine things one can get themselves into through reading Lydia L's reviews! Because this was a fine market to visit on a fine October day. Although we've consumed lots (LOTS) of wine, we've never tried mead and with Lydia's review to back us up, we tried some and bought some too. (Which would be enjoyed later on in the day with cheese from Dancing Ewe and seckel pears from Migliorelli's, both of the Rhinebeck Market.) Don't pass up the chewy, delightful pretzel rolls! We bought several to give to our friends in NJ and they were a BIG hit. (Seasonal cranberry / apple and also sea salt. Also found at the New Paltz market.) There were fewer farmers at this market on this October Sunday but the produce vendors there had top quality items. And the friendly woman at the info booth at the end of the market was offering samples of home baked apple crisp as well as tastings of local applies. More to love about the Rosendale Market...ample parking. Yahoo! Were we HRV residents it would be a regular stop for us.

Best Farm Stand I've ever stopped at!…read more This farm has a stand set up at the entrance to their farm right on 9W in Marlboro. The stand offers everything from fresh veggies, lettuce, apples, in season fruits (the grapes right now are AMAZING) to honey and flowers. The stand is equipped with lights and sprayers to keep the produce fresh. I'll be stopping here anytime I'm in the area and may even consider driving here on a Saturday just to stock up on fresh items. This one is worth a drive!

We first tried their cider on tap at King's Court Brewery in Poughkeepsie. Easy to find - a big yellow barn with ample parking. We stopped in on a December Saturday looking to have some drinks and check out the new space. We arrived just after they opened and were so impressed by the new, but rustic feel. There's a massive horseshoe bar, gender neutral bathrooms, bar games, firepits, many taps, and my favorite, RIVER VIEWS! The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable and recommended a few tasty styles of beer. Locust Grove makes their own cider and features beer from King's Court Brewery a few miles away. I recommend the Bat Exodus Nitro Stout. Had two and, as a Guinness fan, I thought this was far more flavorful. If stouts aren't your preference, they have many varieties of ales, IPAs, porters, and ciders. The cider isn't too sweet. I sampled a few and found them fruity, funky, and crushable without much sugar. Can't wait to visit again and pick up some swag. Locust Grove has shirts, beanies, and other branded items for purchase. If you're looking for outdoor space, know that they have 3 or 4 Solostove Stainless Firepits. These things are the best - high heat and no smoke. They "fired" it right up for us and before we knew it, three hours passed watching the river as the sun set behind us. PS - they have a legit shuffleboard table inside.
