Fun apple orchard and cidery where you can go apple picking or just hang out in the cidery with apple donuts, cider, beer, or wine, and light bites. There was even an oyster pop-up tent by the cidery when I was there. I highly recommend the sparkling cider and apple cinnamon donut - both were very delicious. I had my dog with me and the cidery is dog-friendly but the apple picking part unfortunately is not. Something to be aware of if you're bringing your furry friend along for the outdoor adventure.
Had a brief visit here that was sadly affected by a torrential downpour (that came with a tornado warning). We had fun plucking zennias ($.50 each) and wanted to see the sunflowers but did not get a chance to since we saw lightning. Within ten minutes of seeing lightning, a heavy thunderstorm began, which we waited out in the cidery, which is in a large barn. There were three bathrooms and a shared sink. There were also lots of snacks, ciders and spirits available for purchase. You could even buy crackers / cheeses / meats to make your own charcuterie board! It looked like there was a private event while we were there as well as another private event in the evening. I only tried the Kitchen Sink cider which I honestly didn't like at all, but at least the packaging was nice! I also have to give a shout out to the people working at the stand near the parking lot for giving me a free sunflower stem since I didn't get a chance to pick one!
It was amazing. We went for the children's music fest which was a lot of fun. Even though it was chilly and windy all the kids were enjoying themselves. The cider I had was really nice. It was different long lines clean bathrooms a lot of fun plenty of room plenty of parking.
We love Rose Hill Farm! This is our second year visiting for apple picking & it's always a pleasant experience. We came last year early September & it was pretty empty & peaceful, with maybe 4 or so apple varieties available for picking that I can remember. This year we came mid to late October & it was packed & busy. They have a cidery towards the back which seemed to be popping. On the bright side, at this time of year there were 8 different varieties of apples we could pick. The price for a half bushel bag didn't change from last year, which was nice. It remained $32 for as much apples you could pack into a half bushel bag. For smaller amounts, they charge $2.90/ lb, whichever is a better price for how many apples you picked. Their social media is pretty quick with answering questions & providing a guide of what apples are available, as well as flavor descriptions on their site. On weekends they'll usually have other vendors do pop up on site like Kado flowers (a Japanese owned flower farm) or fresh made to order apple cider donuts from the local Mighty Donuts shop as well as food trucks selling ice cream and oysters & other savory items. The apple varieties that were available when we went late October were Mutsu/Crispin, Fuji, Jonagold, Shizuka, Winecrisp, Keepsake, Cameo, and Empire. At this point of time there were only some late Fuji and Cameos left. For the other apple varieties, a lot of the front of the orchard had been picked so you had to go pretty deep into the back to pick the apples. There are these long apple pickers by the storefront for reaching the very top apples. The older lady staff with slightly curly hair in particular has been very kind & helpful both years. She said we could taste test the apples as we went to figure out the flavor profiles of the apples & see what we like. She was also very generous in letting us push the limits of our half bushel bag & really squeeze in a ton of apples. I have no experience with the cidery half of Rose Hill Farm but the apple picking portion is always a delight. It's a wonderful place to spend a cozy fall afternoon. The apple cider donuts from Mighty Donuts were moist & flavorful & crunchy as well. There's plenty of parking in front in the dirt & then extra parking we had to go towards the back in near the cidery. Despite how busy the parking lot & cidery initially seemed, in the apple orchards themselves it was a nice and peaceful time. If you come earlier in the season it's also super peaceful. Regardless of time of year, we've enjoyed both times at Rose Hill Farm & definitely would come back in the future. We also had a fun time dragging around the provided wagons to carry our apples from field to field. The apples are also delicious!
Genuinely had the best time sampling their unique selection, while we aren't in this area of New York often we have talked consistently about taking the trip back up there soon! Also the pizza night was great! I really enjoyed the lucky cat, one of the best glasses I've ever enjoyed, seriously considering ordering more if I can't make it up there soon!
This was our first time here and we had a lovely visit. The wines were a little bit unique. The red wines were refrigerated and bubbly, but tasted pretty good. We enjoyed the siders. We didn't have an opportunity to try the beers. We had the food from the pop-up group and it was fresh and delicious. I would definitely go back to have more of their food. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. I'm looking forward to spending more happy hours here. The pop-up was Fat Apple Farm Smoker. Everyone that we dealt with were kind and friendly.
I visited Rose Hill Farm this past weekend and I loved the experience. Whether you want to sit and enjoy a nice glass of their seasonal drinks, OR spend some time apple picking, this is the perfect spot to do so! The best part is that you don't have to do both in order to enjoy this place. Let's not forget the cider donuts, the best I've ever had!
My reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because it was a really big bummer that we couldn't actually do any apple picking while here. I didn't fully understand, but I think they were in between harvests? Aside from that I still really enjoyed coming here. The apple cider donut was so delicious, the inside dining area is very chic and clean and the food trucks were nice to have. I liked all the seating they had and that you can still walk around through the trees. It didn't feel as crowded as other orchards/farms I've been to. We had beautiful weather too which always makes the experience better. I'd definitely recommend this place.
We visited Rose Hill Farm for cherry-picking and it was a great & interesting experience. One of the best things of this farm is the distance, about 2-hour drive from the city, which is perfect for a weekend getaway and is not super far. They not only offer fruit-picking but also have a place for cider tasting. We saw lots of people that went for it. It's not that crowded, so the cherry supply was enough. We were there on a weekend morning and there was a food truck available. The food was a little pricey but really delicious.
Amazing cider. Great PYO experience. Beautiful farm! Another farm destination that became one of my favorite places to visit over the summer. It's a bit of a hike but it's well worth it. We first came for the cider. And their cider and sparkling wine is phenomenal! I think it's my favorite NY cider. Earlier on, they didn't have their tasting room open yet but it was nice to stroll through the orchards. Then there's PYO season. I came for the cherries and it's fantastic! Their prices are cheaper than most places I've looked at in the Hudson Valley. This year, I hope to go for blueberry picking and peach picking also. And then they opened their tasting room and it's lovely! I just wish the food options were a bit more variable and less expensive. If you have a car or looking for a day trip summer destination, I highly recommend checking them out. Do plan ahead for PYO though as the harvest can sometimes be limited.
An all in one farm - apple picking, winery, bbq foods, and great views. I went on a Sunday afternoon and the parking lot was packed but the grounds did not feel so crowded since everyone was social distancing. We started at the winery and shared some of their local wine and cider. it was nice views overlooking the farm from the outside deck. Most of the wines/cider were more on the dry side though. They sold some other apple inspired products such as apple cider vinegar and snacks. We made our way to the checkout area to grab our apple bags. One lady gave a quick intro speech on some rules and the process. They only apples ripe at the time were honey crisp, gala, and McIntosh. If they were labeled in front of the tree then they were ready. They informed us not to pick from the other trees. After about an hour of apple picking we went back to the checkout area to pay and order some cider donuts. Sadly there were no more cider donuts or gallon cider to go. We opted for the hot cider which was $2 a cup. There is a yelp check in order for 10% for picked apples. The grounds had two portable potties behind the check out area. But if you go to the winery there's actual bathrooms. Tip: buy the cider and apple cider donuts before apple picking before they sell out. Also try checking the winery for donuts Fit as many apples into one bag for $24 instead of the $/lb fee
I'm surprised to see only one review for Rose Hill Farm. My family rented an airBnB in Red Hook and the owner recommended checking it out. This place is awesome and was PACKED the Sunday we visited. We stayed for a short while but decided to come back the next day when it wasn't as busy. We were with my 2yr old who loved apple picking and running around in the fields. After grabbing our apples we sat down at one of the picnic tables and ordered food from the truck vendor and a bottle of wine inside. The property is beautiful and the fruit wine they make is delicious. If you are in the area it's definitely a place to stop at.
This is a great place to spend a fall day upstate. You can go apple picking, but we came for the cider instead. They have a bar with a wide range of ciders and other drinks available. There's also a couple of rotating food pop-ups. I'd recommend getting here early enough if you're planning on having lunch, because we got there later in the afternoon and the farm was quite busy and a lot of the food items had started to sell out. They have some tables inside the barn and a wide seating area outside with a couple of bonfires. Make sure to get some cider donuts, which were seriously the best ones I've ever had. They were freshly made and you could really taste the apple cider in them. This was our second year coming here and we'll be coming back again!
I will definitely be putting this on my rotation of orchards to go to. Such a cute little farm! It's not very big and not overly crowded which I really liked. We went early this year so they only had 3 different types of apples available for picking. We picked honey crisp, gala and Jonah Mac. They had a beautiful sunflower farm. The property is so pretty and I loved how they had a fire pit with the Adirondack chairs around it. There was a tap room which had all different types of beverages and ciders. Couple of food trucks and their donuts were delicious! Highly recommend checking out this farm. read more

Cute wholesome outing perfect for family and friends! We came here an hour before close and were able to pick blueberries and visit the taproom with ample time to hang out and chat. The fruits and signs were so easy to find and it was a great way to round out the summer before Apple season. This place also has the best peaches I've ever had--soft yet crunchy with the perfect sweetness, definitely don't miss their peach season. Everything is super reasonable and their ciders and wines were made with the fruits they grow as well! Would love to try the food trucks next time. Everyone was also very nice and it's a great time. read more
The best experience! Lots of space inside, very warm ambiance. There are ample benches and seats by firepits outside and an area with food trucks and to apple pick yourself. The apple cider donut stand was absolutely amazing. Theyre making them fresh right there! We got a couple fresh apples as well and they were phenomenal. Service was nice and they're busy! Highly recommend going here for an city escape, especially in the fall. read more

This place was amazing. $25 and you get a full bag of apples to mix and match. Empire, mutsu, and a whole slew of other ones. They also have a bar onsite with their ciders and some local beers that's really well done. A decent amount of bees as well to keep in mind but they don't bother you if you don't bother them. They also had a local food truck type of vendor set up while we were there which was nice. For us it's always going to be special as this is where my fiancé and I got engaged. What a great little place! I've now come here for apple picking with my in-law family for the past 3 years and it has always been a very nice time. Go on a great Fall day - the view of the changing colors and the Catskills in the distance is just breathtaking. And then, go for the Apples because they are the absolute best here. I suppose most people go apple picking for the social fun - hayrides, music, and what not. This place is not for that. This place is simple and classic, but their apples have some magical secret ingredient that make them superior to any I've ever tasted (and every person I've given an apple to from this farm says the same). Specifically, the Fuji are my favorite. I literally go here just for these apples! The people who work here are very friendly and kind. This is worth a trip! read more

Arrived ~ 10 am on a gorgeous Fall Sunday. Well managed for parking, checkin, Covid procedures. Lots of varieties still abundant on the trees, including some we never heard of - Mutsu and Shizuka. Can pick and pay by the pound or by the full large bag. They sell cider, freshly made donuts, coffee and there is a food truck for lunch. (The truck yesterday was Mexican with one person taking orders and making the food - could be extremely slow. You might want to bring lunch.) Plenty of spread out tables and benches, and several large fires. Also a nice hard cidery to sample and buy. Beautiful location and even with parking lot packed never felt crowded. read more

Looked great coming in, beautiful barns and cool modern spaces inside. Great things ended there. Got three glasses of wine for our group- Cryo cider (very syrupy and warm), Prune Bleue (Blah) and the New phone who dis (not good) and that one was $17/glass. We were excited to have a food truck on hand but as we approached they were frantic and sold out of food (had only been on site for 2 hours). It was 4th off July but you would think the food truck would have been better prepared, other patrons had already been waiting for 45 minutes for their food. There were many families with children, which I really don't get bringing to a winery where the parents are drinking. Just my personal opinion, there was also a family whose child was vomiting in the parking lot who continued to stay on site and carry the child around. Obviously not the fault of the establishment, but did not add to the experience, the wine was disappointing and the least favorite of the three wineries we visited that day. read more

I'm genuinely confused by the poor reviews. My husband and I got there a full 30 mins before they opened and were quietly waiting by our car while the stand was being opened and set up. This was by the Owner and wife portion of the family. (Wish I'd asked her name.) After 10 mins she called over "You guys trying to beat everyone to it today?" I replied, "Yeah, early bird syndrome." She smiled and said "Well, come on over then." We were allowed to go through the raspberry and blackberry patches before the apple fields. She was impressed we found almost a half pint of ripe blackberries. By the time we finished with the berry section, others had arrived to apple pick. Shizuka and Empire were named as well as Red Delicious. She suggested we follow her husband who had gone to open a section of Empire which would have better picking. It was quite a hike on my bad knees, but SO worth it! The apple bag was FILLED with Empire and about 9 Shizuka. (* I do a good deal of canning and preserves, so this was a bumper haul for me.) We don't have a dog so I don't know about all that. I can say the two dogs we saw there got along with everyone and each other. I'm not sure if one came with a family or if both lived on the farm already. This trip inspired us to find more U-Pick farms in our portion of New York. read more

Nice farm with beautiful views from the top. I came here to pick peaches and was not disappointed. There were plenty of white and yellow ripe peaches to be picked...just watch the bees, yikes! A little pricey but I guess you're paying for the experience. read more
