Beautiful farm with tons of different apple trees and even Asian pear trees! There are no hayrides, face painting, corn mazes or any of that stuff here. This is simply good old fashioned apple picking with a small farm store and hard cider tasting at the entrance. Prices for bags seem high at first at $9, $17 and $27 but if you load up your bags the apples come out to just over $1 a pound. The free hard cider tasting at the entrance was awesome! We also picked up some soft cider and donuts on the way out. A couple of things I didn't love...the high grass and unmarked trees. Overall the property is not kept up well. There are tons of weeds and broken tree branches everywhere. The grass between rows of trees was really high in some spots. The bases of all the trees were covered in tall weeds. Until we got to the back of the property many of the trees didn't have signs so we had no idea what we were picking. It was kind of unclear if this farm was about to be sold or is being sold to developers. From the overall condition it seemed like they weren't looking to keep it. I'm still giving it 4 stars because it has tons of potential if they're not selling. Simple lawn mowing would go a long way. I also loved that it wasn't like many of the farms around these days which are just way too commercialized and crowded.

Best pizza in the area. Make sure the usual Italian fellow is there. Well worth the 14-16 dollars. You will not be disappointed.

Parking was easy to find, and it's across the street from the actual brewery. There's a lot of land and I like that they had cornhole and a cute shop with local goods and merch. There's a mix of outdoor and indoor seating, and we sat indoors since it was chilly (it's dog friendly). There is a sizable food menu, so we ordered the kale caesar salad and the capocollo pizza. We also got a cider flight and hot cider (not spiked but you can get it spiked). I looooooved the food, it was so good! Our salad came out pretty quickly and our pizza came out a bit after we finished eating the salad (they bring it to your table). I wasn't a fan of the hard ciders, but I loved my hot cider. There's also two gender neutral restrooms available indoors, as well as a cute array of ciders and merch for sale. I would def recommend coming here!

It's a great hang, especially if you've got little ones along for the ride. Just be prepared for city prices: $25 for a take-home cider and $18 for a shot of whiskey definitely caught us off guard. The best time to visit is during the Woodist Festival in late summer--they're right across from Arrowood Farms, and the whole area has an awesome energy when the festival's going on.

After filling a bag we ran into John as he was picking some Crab Apples. A half hour later and we had discussed everything from the chemical reaction that makes some apples sweeter than others, to his families history and what brought them to the area, to why planting a seed that you got from an apples, isn't necessarily going to produce an apples tree that produces apples that taste like the apple it came from (mind blown!). My son really fed off of John's excitement which was awesome to see. What if you don't run into John? You've still ended up at the best orchard within a 100 miles. I've been apple picking in the Hudson Valley for over 20 years. You see the same 4-5 variations of apples. However, once you see all of the variations that Wightman has, you'll feel cheated by the limited options at other orchards.

Choose a size bag (small or large) to apple pick, and have a day! This property is so beautiful and peaceful to walk through. They also sell freshly picked grapes, house made apple cider donuts (mini!), bottled apple cider, and apple chips. You are lucky if you get a chance to talk with John or Zachary Wightman-- they are pomologists filled with apple picking knowledge! There really is so much science behind it all, which was fascinating to learn. Thank you to the Wightman family for opening this farm to the public for picking, we had a blast! CC

But last fall, we had an experience at the orchard itself that we will never forget. We had the best day walking for hours around the beautiful orchard and picking apples. On the way back to the car with our big bag of fruit we realized that neither of us had the key to the car! It must have dropped at some point in the orchard. We were doomed! There was no way we were going to find a small car key within the fields. We walked around for a while looking and gave up we were about to call for a tow. Then we came upon one of the farmers driving the tractor, and showed him the only picture we had taken that entire day. He looked at it for a few seconds and went off in search of the key. 10 or 15 minutes later, we saw him calling for us in the distance. As we got closer, we saw him laughing and shaking his head - amazingly, he had found the needle in the haystack, and we were saved! That day we also got to meet his daughter and grandson, who were taking a ride on his tractor through the orchard and picking apples of their own. Maynard's apples and stone fruit worlds above any of the others we can find in the area, and we stock up every Saturday. But in addition to the quality of the fruit, the farmers are all so nice and always let you taste what's in season before you purchase. And after this experience, it was clear to us that Maynard farms is truly family and community-oriented organization, and made us even happier to buy our fruit from them every week. Thank you for everything! See you on Saturday ;) Love, Melissa and Sami

Great for all ages, even babies and toddlers! Once you arrive you check in and they either provide you with a strawberry basket or you drive right into the fields and they can give you a basket there too. Don't be shy to walk further into the fields where fewer people go! There's a tractor ride periodically that you can take to and from the main farm area if you don't want to drive down (about 10 min tractor ride vs 5 min drive). There's plenty of room and a lot space in the strawberry fields. Afterwards we did some fun activities like feeding the bunnies and playing on the wooden tractors they built, mini golf and the corn piles! They have bathrooms and food available onsite as well, very easily, as well as jam and snacks and toys to buy as souvenirs. The weather was amazing, not too sunny and not rainy - a lot of the activities are outdoors. Would definitely recommend!

My parents enjoyed the barn as well, as you can see my dad is feeding a cow! We returned our berries little container and exchanged it to vegetables bag instead. We purchased two vegetables bag and 10 stems of flowers for $10. It was a very nice place with a lot of things to do. They also have a lot of vegetables and flowers to pick! Some vegetables are peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, cabbage, and more! Amazing sunflowers all over as well. We will definitely be back again!
