When we arrived, on June 17, 2026, prime season for strawberries and snap peas, we were greated by a friendly young woman named Erin, who operated the admission booth. She provided us with two small containers for the snap peas and two larger for the strawberries and explained that we can pick whatever we want, and only pay for what we harvest. We acquired some beautifully fresh snap peas and freshly sweet strawberries. We visited the store, which offered typical farm store goods. There was nothing overly impressive about the store, but it is worth a look. We loved this place and even though it is more than an hour away, this will be our go to place to pick your own fruits and vegetables. We are looking forward to bluberries season in early July!

No entrance fee per person and no parking fee (Unlike many other farms). The downside was that there were not many strawberries. The ones we did pick were already wilting within 24hours. I think we caught the end of picking season. The farm is about 1/4 mile down from the market /cafe/brewery. The market is cute and has a lot of pantry items as well as fresh produce. They also serve lunch (chicken sandwich, etc). I was surprised at how expensive everything was. It was $18 for the chicken sandwich. It was well fried and came with a good portion of salad. However, the chicken itself was very small. It also took 20 min to be served. Another option is the airstream in the back. They were selling hot dogs. They had some local dogs that were pretty tasty. The brewery on premise was great. They had a play area to keep the kids occupied, tables/chairs and the World Cup was on. Can't really get better than that. There is also a goat pen in the back of the market. You can pay for some food and the kids can feed the goats. A lot of places charge you just to see the goats. This place doesn't haggle you like that. Great place. I wish they were closer to the city!

Most sections were accessible via stroller, however the enclosures were small so little ones needed to be carried inside. A blacksmith was also doing demonstrations. They have regular events throughout the year that are great for kids. For the pumpkin picking, you could take pictures amongst the pumpkins for free and pick any that you liked for purchase. Prices ranged from $2-$20, depending on pumpkin size. They had a vendor selling cider and other adult beverages and a concession stand. The line for the latter was super long and they definitely could've used a second location given the number of people. Bathrooms were fairly clean. Fun place for a day trip.

Trees: most of the trees had no apples, they were either picked bare or on the floor. A couple of trees that have apples looked like they were rotten. I was lucky to fill my medium bag with edible apples. They had TONS of pumpkins if you wanted pumpkin picking, but the apples were sad. Ordering food/apple cider donuts was unbelievably confusing and frustrating and slow. They had 2 lines, one for food and one for bar and then another stand for apple cider donuts and cider. I just wanted some hot apple cider donuts and cold cider, first i went to the stand, they weren't taking anyone. Then waited on the food line which was not moving at all. Fortunately a staff lady came by to take the order for the donuts/cider. She brought them out. The only sitting area around (aside from the pumpkin garden that had no seats available) was a small secluded room next to the wine section. There were no customers there. So I made my way to a stool, took out my nursing poncho (I'm European so for me breastfeeding is completely natural, nonetheless I understand and respect the fact that other people might get distracted by it so I still wear a poncho to cover myself in public) and was about to take my baby out of his stroller when a lady working in the counter asked me what was I looking for. I replied "nothing thanks I just have to nurse him". She then stopped in complete shock, looked at me in disgust and said "You CANNOT DO THAT HERE". I think I was just as in shock upon hearing this in the 21st century, in a so-called "family-friendly" place. I quickly got up, turned away, and had to go all the way back to my car with my crying baby to be able to feed him. Of course as soon as I finished breastfeeding him in my car, I drove off, and I will for sure never drive into this place again. Nor will I recommend it to any other moms. Really sucky experience for a postpartum woman, who just moved into town, and was very excited to take her baby to the farm. I had booked my tickets a couple days ago and what I expected to be a fun farm day turned out to be an experience where I felt judged and discriminated for having to do something as physiological as feeding my baby. I understand a room next to a wine-selling section might not be an ideal place to nurse, trust me, it wasn't for me either. But the lady could have been a LOT nicer, much less judgy, and be polite enough to guide me into a better place to feed my baby rather than making me go away as if I was gross. I think if you work in a customer-facing role in a family farm, being this rude to a family should be a deal breaker and managing these situations with kindness should be non-negotiable. And if you're a place that "welcomes" families with kids of all ages, you should also expect some breastfeeding moms might have to feed their children.. And either have a place for them to do so, or good enough manners to handle the situation. But maybe that's just me. Extremely bizarre day for me and my family.

East Rock Brewing sold out of some interesting craft beer. But not before I had a couple. I would guess the crowd at about 200 people: Families, Dead-heads, and once upon a time Dead heads (such as myself) were all loving the time there. Some picnic tables fixed in place. many people brought in their own beach chairs coolers and even small tables. Lots of space remaining. Large grassy area where kids at the age when they need to run around could do so without being a problem for everyone else. A few people walked up a big hill, to the rear of the field, for a few minutes away from the crowd while overlooking the entire venue. One (of many) songs performed, took me back 40 years. When it was over , feeling deeply nostalgic, I slowly turned to check on my food truck pizza order. A woman probably my age said "You look like you need a hug". Never ran out of people to talk with. including the drummer and bass guitar player of the band. Would like to have brought someone here with me- but it wasn't necessary. The place really has a winning formula for an afternoon of music. Looking forward to another event at the Lachat Town Farm.
