My husband and I went to Kelder's farm on a SUPER SLOW Thursday evening. We intended to JUST pick apples, but some cider and donuts and go home. We likely would have dropped an easy $60 that night. However when we went to pay for the apple picking we were told that we EACH had to pay an admission fee which was over $20 EACH just to pick apples. Understandable if it was busy but this was 5:20pm and they were closing at 6. We didn't have kids with us and so we asked the guy in charge if the $40 plus dollar fee (this DOES NOT include the apple picking fee) could be waived and were met by a smugness that was off putting to say the least. We have been coming to this farm for 30 years. We live locally and have never experienced this there before. I know these places make a TON of money with this over the top Agri-entertaining but to turn away LOCALS with a $40 plus fee when the place is totally empty is poor business and certainly not how to be a good neighbor! So we left and will never return. read more

Definitely plan to spend the whole day here! We came for the strawberries mostly but ended up not even having enough to do all the activities. Great for all ages, even babies and toddlers! Once you arrive you check in and they either provide you with a strawberry basket or you drive right into the fields and they can give you a basket there too. Don't be shy to walk further into the fields where fewer people go! There's a tractor ride periodically that you can take to and from the main farm area if you don't want to drive down (about 10 min tractor ride vs 5 min drive). There's plenty of room and a lot space in the strawberry fields. Afterwards we did some fun activities like feeding the bunnies and playing on the wooden tractors they built, mini golf and the corn piles! They have bathrooms and food available onsite as well, very easily, as well as jam and snacks and toys to buy as souvenirs. The weather was amazing, not too sunny and not rainy - a lot of the activities are outdoors. Would definitely recommend! read more

Love this place but only gave 4 stars because it seems like a bit pricey. We paid each one $26 something (paid it in person would have been better if we paid it online!) but anyway that includes the entrance fee and a u-pick of either berries, vegetables or 5 stems of flowers. There are a lot of activities especially for kids, they have a barn, jumping pillow, a corn area where you can stump on it. I think it was knee high! My parents enjoyed the barn as well, as you can see my dad is feeding a cow! We then went to the hay rides and went to get berries, was expecting other berries but we only saw raspberries and not that much. We returned our berries little container and exchanged it to vegetables bag instead. We purchased two vegetables bag and 10 stems of flowers for $10. It was a very nice place with a lot of things to do. They also have a lot of vegetables and flowers to pick! Some vegetables are peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, cabbage, and more! Amazing sunflowers all over as well. We will definitely be back again! read more

NOT a family-friendly farm anymore. On Tuesday, 10/07/25, my family and I visited Kelder's farm. Our family is composed of elderly adults, adults, and children. This was our go-to farm for years, but I stopped going because lately, the farm's owners have changed the way they treat loyal families. The owners are the staff. Over the years, they have become incredibly rude and condescending to customers. Initially, I was skeptical about visiting again, but I gave the farm one more chance because the other farm I wanted to visit was closed. That was a big mistake. I purchased my ticket online. Upon arrival, I asked questions to the staff questions about picking apples, such as bag costs or upgrading to our existing ticket purchase. It was not busy. We were bout the only ones in the shop. The first lady who answered was extremely rude and condescending. For whatever reason, she seemed exhausted and angry. I explained to her that it had not visited the farm in a long time and thus didn't remember how it all worked. She was a smart alec, and the matter didn't get resolved. I had to speak with another woman, who, to her credit, treated us better. However, she spoke to us as if whatever pricing and promotion they had was obvious. As we tried to inquire about the pricing and/or upgrade, the first lady began to interrupt our conversation rudely in an attempt to justify her horrible treatment. Later, a third person, this time a young man, came over to what we thought was to help us with our questions. Instead, he went straight to our jugular and began to mistreat us. This young man's name is John Kelder, a co-owner of the farm. I asked all of us to calm down and not overreact. I reminded John Kelder that it's ok to disagree. There had not been any yelling, cussing, or impudent behavior from our part. As I was attempting to get the answers to the question,s he told me, "Don't preach to me," and later politely kicked us out. Shocked by this response, we expressed how displeased we were due to their misconduct. At this point, we already knew we couldn't reason with the owners. When I was getting my refund, my sister told me privately, "Sometimes it's better to follow your gut" in reference to my skepticism at first regarding visiting the farm. John Kelder got upset with what my sister was telling me and became even more defiant and angrily said to her, "What did you say?". They tried to change the narrative by gaslighting us and blaming us for their misconduct. I later discovered that the people taking care of us were son, mom, and another family member. When business owners go this far to lie, mistreat families, cover each other's sins, and gaslight others for their unethical behavior, there is no way to get this resolved. Fortunately, we found another AMAZING spot about 1-2 minutes away from Kelders. The new place is called "Saunderskill Farms". Saunderskill Farms is truly family-friendly, has higher ratings, better prices, and great customer service. After the bad experience we had at Kelder's Farm, visiting "Saunderskill Farms" was like medicine to our souls. We needed that. I you go, I hope you have a different experience. We will not return. As a believer, I bless Kelder and will not pay evil for evil. However, I will bless Saunderskill Farms even more AND put my money on them. I hope this helps. read more

We stopped at the sign of a large gnome. I have to admit, I was not interested in going to this farm. I thought my 10 year old wouldn't find much to do. I am glad we went. Nothing over the moon but we spent a nice summer day exploring and having fun with framily. The wins: Corn house (I thought about germs but what a great idea dumping corn kernels into a little house for the kids to use like a sandbox!) The pillow (who doesn't like to jump around?) The view of the farm is beautiful The Gnome was cool to see! Made a day trip here specifically for the tulip section of the farm. You basically take a hayride to a far away area of the property to see lots of pretty tulips that they planted. You can also pick your own tulips for $2 a stem or 10 for $10. It was a lively place with tons of other things specifically geared toward kids. You can feed donkeys, cows, llamas and goats too. They have a nice produce market with fresh produce and flowers for sale as well as baked goods coffee popcorn pizza etc.. And freshly made apple cider donuts. Overall a good experience! read more

Weekly entrance is ~$10 while weekends is $4 more or so. The farm has fun activities for kids, mini golf, picnic tables and and a giant bouncer. There are also a alpacas, donkeys, a cow, sheeps and a rabbit that you can feed but not really pet (I guess given covid). You can also buy food to feed them (4items of carrots, corn for $1 or a bag of animal food for the same price) They have a really large extension of crops, so if you want to pick your own veggie you need to drive down the road to the crops. Activities are really focused for kids so i guess i am willing to pay once but if you are a local and you are just accompanying your kid, I would found it expensive. This place is incredible! We recently visited while some family was in town. We had a 15 month old and a 13 year old with us. The 13 year old was absolutely thrilled to be able to fish while the rest of us did things with the little one. We spent almost 5 hours there and didn't even do everything there was to do! Staff were all knowledgeable, professional and nice! The activities for kids are endless! My 15 month old could have spent all day in the "corn crib" if I let her- so cool! The food is very tasty and the alcohol selection for the grown ups is all local and awesome! We picked tulips and hung around for the "candy cannon"...awesome for the kids! This place is also very close to the cute downtown area of New Paltz and Mohonk Mountain. We traveled from about an hour and a half so it was awesome to see other things in the area as well. My girlfriend and I had a great time at Kelder's Farm. We picked raspberries, blackberries, corn, potatoes and tomatoes. We also spent some time in the sunflower fields and had fun feeding the donkeys, goats and Liberty Belle the cow. The rabbits and alpacas were content in the shade and weren't interested in the carrots and corn we were offering or maybe they were hardline supporters of the Occupy Wall Street movement and wanted nothing to do with our bourgeoisie handouts. On second thought, those rabbits did look suspiciously like anarchists. Aside from the person who wrote the asinine Noam Chomsky Wikipedia review, everyone should visit Kelder's Farm. Kind of ridiculous considering my grandma came just to have an outting with us. She didn't participate in any of the children's activities and she still had to pay..... my little sister had a great time doing the activities. Pumpkins are a bit pricey so just be aware before heading to the patch. I asked inside staff if I could have a. Bag to put the pumpkins and they said I'd have to pay for a bag yet they didn't even have a big enough size bag..... therefore unless you want your car dirty from dirty pumpkins be sure you bring bags or boxes. There are farm animals, a corn maze, a playground, a jump bouncy thing (which the staff assured us it was all ages -- how lovely) and even a u-pick for pumpkins. Came up here for a day of fun with my toddler over memorial day weekend. For starters this place is GOLD for a 2 year old, he was entertained for hours (as were our friends similarly aged kids) with all the activities. There is a mega bubble station, legos, a huge tractor to climb, big connect four and just general outdoor stuff. Lemonade was delicious too! But the reason I really wanted to give a shout out to this place is because not 10 minutes after we got there my kid fell and hit his head pretty badly (no fault of the farm at all) and the response from every employee was so genuinely caring. They made sure he was ok, provided a very well stocked first aid kit and ice, and really checked up on him. It turned the situation from one where the whole day could have been a wash because we would have needed to leave to get medical supplies to one where we just took a bit of time to get him to calm back down, patched him up, and went back out to enjoy all the fun activities. Its been over a month and my kid still talks about how he "bumped his head, but had fun at the farm". I would totally return for both the lemonade and the staff! read more

I was once a huge fan of this farm. Have spent most Saturdays during the summer for the last 7 years visiting this farm for various activities. My daughter loves to visit this farm to see the animals and jump on the big pillow. We visited on Saturday and learned of the new "all inclusive pass" and it's pricing. What a disappointment. I am more than willing to pay $8 for the day for my daughter to enjoy all the activities she wants to there, but I thought it was a bit excessive to ask for $8 per adult for them to walk around and watch her have fun feeding animals and jumping on the pillow. We would have paid $32 plus the cost of food for the animals for about 30 to 60 minutes of fun for one child. I would be willing to pay the $30 for the season pass for my child....but to have to pay the same for adults to sit and watch seems crazy. We are a family of 3 so the $99 'Named Family of 5 Pass' would be stupid to purchase and buying individual passes would be $90 for the 3 of us. Also...$3 per person to go down to the u-pick-em fields if you didn't want to get the all inclusive pass?? I figured the excessive pricing for fruit and veggies you pick included the surcharge already...but I guess not. I did express my disappointment over the 'new and improved' pricing for the farm directly on their facebook page. Management did respond quickly to me about the new pricing plan. In response, I expressed that paying for adults to sit and watch was excessive. They never addressed my response and deleted my post from their page. Guess they don't like real comments on their page. I can't be the only person disappointed. I just can't figure out if it is greed or if some customers in the past ruined it for the rest of us... We've been coming here for years and always enjoyed it. But this year they've started charging everyone just to walk in. I understand the charge for use of the bounce bubble and mini golf. But for a parent to be charged $6 to simply watch their child (for safety because there is NO on from the establishment there) is ridiculous. However the do come out to reprimand you if you step past the small concrete pad to see you children. This change in policy comes from pure opportunistic greed. This is my second trip here this year and it will be my last unless I hear that they changed their policy. Kelder's was exactly the farm experience I was looking for on a gorgeous summer day and more! What sold me on this place was that it had everything under one roof: animals to feed and pet, big fields of pick-your-own seasonal fruits and vegetables and opening hours that were super flexible. As soon as we entered we were greeted by a crew of friendly farm hands cleaning onion stalks in front of a giant white barn surrounded by fields of farmlands, animals and a giant jumping bubble. The true icing on the cake was the fact that they had a lama named Milkshake, wooden trains and tractors that the kids could climb on and a hay ride. Imagine the excitement of my tractor-obsessed toddler as he was riding on the back of a flat bed filled with hay by a giant tractor and you get the picture of how special the day was. Total rip off. We went to the farm today to see if they had a corn maze (which they did) but you can't just walk thru the maze. You half to pay 20$ something per person! But it's okay cause you can pick a "free pumpkin" while your there. More like a 20$ pumpkin. We used to go here all the time when it was local people friendly. All it is now is brand new fancy cars and tourists. Total crap. Don't give this place your money. Saunderskill farms is 1 minute down the rd and still appreciates its local customers. Also the corn maze there is free ! I've lived in accord my entire life and I don't think I've ever seen a local place jack up their prices as much as Kelders has. It's actually really sad. COMPLETE RIP OFF TOURIST TRAP. I am so disappointed by this truly lackluster farm experience. My husband and I had such high hopes after looking at the website but looks can be deceiving. We paid over $70 for both of us to enter the farm and enjoy the amenities, but until you are actual IN THE FARM do you realize what a rip-off it is. For $70 we got one pint of berries, 2 sunflowers, got to LOOK at some farm animals behind layers of enclosures *as a bonus we got a treacherous hike down very uneven paths full of tractor rut marks and large stones that easily turn your ankle to even get to the berries and flowers and a cardio endurance hike back uphill on a 90 degree day to get back to our vehicle. We checked in at the "online ticket" counter and met a very pissed off teenager named Madison who needs to perhaps smile and act like she is happy to be there. I asked her where to go and start first on the farm and she merely pointed to the right. No words, no directions, no intro of what they offered or where to go to do what. She happily sold us a handful (I said handful and mean it) of animal grain in a small paper bag for $2 to "feed the animals" which we eagerly bought. She never mentioned nor could we see from this vantage point that the petting zoo was actually some animal enclosures with *fencing all around MORE fencing* so you could not get near the animals. They provide stationary PVC pipes you put the grain in and it slides down to the animals two pellets at a time so the animals do not engage with you, they merely sit near the tube waiting for morsels. If looking at animals from several feet away behind two different fencing systems is cool to you and your family have at it. I have worked with 4H and farm rescues for years and understand the liability and stupidity of children and parents who don't know proper manners to keep safe around animals, but there is a solution to that Kelder's Farm...its called put a human to monitor the situation. The farm animal enclosures are so small one human could monitor fence climbers or dumb humans getting selfies who go near animals mouths too closely. But Kelder's wants to just create a cold sterile Alcatraz like setting they don't have to monitor. I will give them props for providing misting stations for the alpacas and llamas but that is really the only thing that earned this review a single star. There is no staff anywhere - nobody to ask where things are or where to go - tons of signage but nothing saying "hey berries are that way or hey sunflowers are over there!" We read on the website there was beer and wine but Ill be damned if we ever saw any anywhere. You just meander around and hope other hoodwinked tourists will clue you in where to go to enjoy this so called festival. So after falling down the steep hill due to my bad knee my husband and I walked on the grass to avoid turning our ankles in the direction of the golf carts that whizzed up and down the hill with staff, we figured maybe one of them could tell us where to go or how things worked for our "Best value package" that included for $70 plus dollars again just 2 sunflowers and a pint of berries. The staff is ALL TEENAGERS and they are all gruff, disgruntled and not forthcoming in giving people information. We asked a male at the one wooden kiosk how to get berries and he told us to GO BACK UP THE HILL to buy a pass! We had already done that. He then told us to "just go down there and pick blueberries or raspberries - here is your container" Okay, finally a lead! I was excited they still had raspberries. We walked down to the berry bushes (again avoiding large stones and uneven ground) and lo and behold it was Madison again. The staff apparently rotates posts. I asked where the raspberries were and Madison said " you have to go buy tickets first" Um, Madison you yourself SCANNED our online tickets and admitted us before we wandered around aimlessly but I guess she has short term memory issues! Then she announced "we don't have raspberries" Um, but that guy just said you did? She shrugged. Again Madison if you deal with the public please use your words. I never did find any raspberry bushes and the pint at the actual farm stand for $7.50 - no thanks - I have seen fresh farm raspberries all over Dutchess county for $3-$4 a pint. Madison as scintillating as ever gained consciousness and handed us a pair of flower clippers and told us we get 2 sunflowers and waved to a few rows of sunnies. Not for nothing, I was expecting a huge field of sunflowers to photograph. Kelder's just has unweeded rows with sunflowers here and there. Nothing photograph worthy. My husband estimated I personally grew more sunflowers in my home garden and he may be right as I plant 300 every year of 6 varieties. At this point we were hot and bothered and not in a good way. We also noticed the veteran farm goers all DROVE THEIR CARS down to the sunnies and berries. Nice to know as stumbled and fell down the hill instead. read more

Not a enjoyable experience at all. It's over priced and literally slim pickings when it come to the u pick apples and berries. The orchard is over grown and not very big, there is no direction from staff on where to go, what to do or anything like that. It's 16$ a person just to enter including little kids! The. Super awesome! So much fun for the kids $12 package for a child wrist band which allows them to do all of the activities. Corn maze, some farm animals, bouncing thing, hay ride, pumpkin patch! Everyone working there was very friendly. Farmer Kelder himself was driving the tractor for the hay rides and out and about working. Apparently this family has been in the area as farmers since the late 1700's... They have nice store/market in the main white barn and then three "food" stands...we grabbed some hot dogs and French fries...did the job. The fresh made donuts were delicious...but they didn't have any hot apple cider?! We bought an apple pie...looks delicious...we will see tonight:). Prices were very reasonable...you won't feel as if you are being price gouged. Yes it was crowded, but not in a horrible way. Overall, it was a really fun family day. My son loved it! Be ware: Outhouses only! No indoor restrooms...pretty gross...they don't flush...lol...my first outhouse experience-and hopefully my last... Highly recommended. read more

My favorite place to be! Amazing apples in the fall, fresh garlic bulbs, pick your own fruits and vegetables! The pick your own pumpkins are reasonably priced and so much fun! My favorite thing though is picking strawberries; you have not tasted a strawberry as good as when fresh picked and sitting in the sun. I might be overly sensitive, but I wonder - where do we draw the political line? Kelder's Farm names the Gnome "Gnome Chomsky", and they have "Chomsky's Jam". For those that may not know - Noam Chomsky is a Harvard/MIT professor who is a self-professed anarchist, anti-capitalist and holds many anti-US government views. I'm not sure if a family member owns this farm or what the attraction to a supporter of Occupy Wallstreet and the Weather Underground would be for business. I don't think it would grow your business, and maybe I'm the only one who will mention this, but I am often told I'm the "only one, etc." Chomsky has some odd, conflicting views, believing in free speech, but anarchism - and anarchists, as we've seen the last few months - aren't interested in listening. Oh well. To the farm: The farm seems very nice. The farm business strategy is ironically indicative of strong capitalistic theories: a bouncy thing for the kids, you can pick produce, they have a pizza and ice cream stand. I had a frozen lemonade which was terrific. They have an indoor shop with a lot of interesting products and a lot of great kosher products. If you are interested in kosher foods or are a Hasidim (spelling?)Jewish person, you will like what you see here (and many are obviously already customers from the families I saw there.) And as any good capitalist would, they offer a lump sum day pass for families that is very reasonably priced. Beautiful flowers in the front also - they were a joy to see. Fun place, especially if you have children. The 'pick your own' was nice and the produce was perfect. But the Gnome was the high point for me! Pigs were alittle stinky....but that I guess is normal. We visited on a field trip day, so it was a bit crowded with kids. read more

Lots of different things to do at this farm! Not only can you pick different kinds of fruits, you can also pick different kinds of vegetables, and all these change depending on the season. They have little signs by each type of plant to tell you how to pick the plants as well! Lots of activities for kids and lots of fun food and a small grocery for the adults as well. My family used to go to Kelder's farm every summer and fall. This year they changed the pricing so that you have to pay even if you don't use or partake in the recreation area. I now have to pay to watch my niece and nephew jump on their air pillow--and they don't even offer comfortable seating. Additionally this week we arrived at the farm a half hour to closing with friends and family. We paid for the kids to bounce around on the air pillow. One of the parents walked to take a picture of the kids and they asked her to leave the premises because she didn't "pay" to be on the premise. This was a half hour to closing!!! They wouldn't even let her take a picture! This place changed. They have bad customer service; the cashiers aren't friendly and they are too focused on profit. If you drive further up the road, there's Saunderskill Farms. They've a better store with the best apple cider donuts around, great seating, better food/country store and great customer service. They might not have an airpillow but it's a step above in terms of customer experience and food! read more
