Hello. I didn't really get a chance to enjoy my visit. I walked in with my service dog, and an employee immediately told me "no animals." I calmly asked why that applied to service dogs, and she couldn't give me any explanation at all. Within the first two minutes, I decided it was best to leave and told her there was no need to be rude -- we were already heading out. She then followed us all the way to the door, continuing to confront and harass us even as we were leaving. For clarity: service dogs are legally allowed in all public-facing businesses in New York, including orchards, farms, grocery stores, and any place open to the public. This is protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and New York Civil Rights Law §47. Businesses may only ask two questions and cannot deny access, demand paperwork, or enforce "no pets" rules on service dogs. My lab wanted to go apple picking and we ended up choosing this orchard. I believe there were others close to this one, but we went with Ochs because of the low admission fee ($5 per person) and petting zoo. It was an hour and a half drive from upper Manhattan. We went here on a random Wednesday afternoon so we basically had the orchard to ourselves. The first parking lot you see is for their store, you have to keep driving up for the u-pick orchard. There you check in to pay your admission fee, get your wristband, and get your apple picking bag(s). They give you a map where the ripe apples are highlighted for you. My favorite apples were the honeycrisp and snap dragons. They grow vegetables too but honestly we didn't explore the orchard that much (it was huge) so the only other thing I picked besides apples was a tomato, which I felt like was pretty difficult to find a good one. I handed out the apples to other friends and colleagues and they all liked them! There's something different about picking the apple straight off the tree than the apples you would normally just buy at a grocery store. It's a lot crispier when you pick them yourself! The store has apple cider doughnuts! Now being that I am a Californian where we don't have this apple picking culture, I was wondering what all the hype around apple cider doughnuts was about. NOW I GET IT they're so good! Unfortunately since we went on a weekday the doughnuts weren't fresh (they make them fresh on the weekends) so some of them were stale, but most were still good. It's honestly more of a cake than a doughnut, but so good! The doughnuts are self serve towards the back. The store also had a cat on the prowl haha We ended up not even having time to visit the petting zoo, but overall I think my colleagues had a good time here and I would recommend this orchard for anyone trying to have a no frills apple picking experience. Ochs Orchard is a lovely spot with great variety!Inside, they have a fantastic selection of fresh produce, homemade jams, and delicious baked goods. The apple cider donuts are a must-try! We came on a winter day few days after Christmas and they had free samples of apple cider. I got some tea and honey to bring back home to FL. I also bought some apples and they were so soft inside and juicy. Unlike any other apple I've had. I wish I had a way to bring the Amish butter home since a family member has it in their home I often have it with bread in the morning. The staff were friendly, and everything was well-organized. Heads up It's a bit busy during peak times, but that's to be expected at a popular place. But when we came on a Saturday they were practically empty and lady made a joke not to come on the weekends so I assume normally it's a busy day or they dedicate it to stocking up since when we came I saw about 3 of the staff unboxing stuff. Overall, a really enjoyable experience with a charming atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back next season! read more

We went later in the season this year, than we usually do, so weren't expecting to find much. We usually go to another orchard, and if you go too late, there aren't many apples left. This orchard though, had so many beautiful apples, and they were all delicious! There are also other fruits and veggies on the farm, but many were not in season. Will definitely be back during ripening season to pick some of those as well. The country farm store is so nice and the cider donuts are a must! I fell in love with the petting zoo too. Three and one half stars. Quaint country farm featuring u-pick fruits and vegetables. We visited in early August so the top u-pick item were the peaches. I think they offer apple picking late Summer into the Fall. They also have a farm store featuring apple cider donuts, ice cream and some produce but it was much too crowded for us to justify the wait. Maybe next time? This was my first time at Ochs Orchard, and it will definitely be my new spot for my annual apple picking trip! The apples were abundant with so many varieties. We have been waiting to pick snapdragon apples for years and we are finally glad we found them here. Prices were reasonable and they did not require every person to purchase their own bag like other farms. The market was very cute with delicious apple cider donuts and other farm fresh food. We also really loved the opportunity to pick vegetables and pumpkins. This was my first time picking potatoes and corn, which was such a fun experience! They also had peppers, eggplant, and more. This is a fun visit in the fall when the leaves have color...its location on a hill on the outskirts of Warwick makes it a very inviting destination for a short ride. Of course, in the fall, one is also looking to get fresh orchard apples that are recently on the trees...and that is where Ochs fall short. If you are doing 'pick-your-own', that's fine. But if you just want to get some apples in the retail shop you will likely be disappointed. I've been there a few times and the freshness of the apples is lacking. It's nice that they do allow sampling of apples so you can see what you're getting. But for the second year in a row, after driving close to an hour from Nyack, I left empty handed. After doing some sampling, it was very clear that the apples were not freshly picked. I made an inquiry to one of the women working there, clearly an owner or manager-type, and asked how long ago the apples were picked. She replied that it has probably been a week or 10 days, and that were using the older apples first to get rid of them. Well, that explained why these apples in the retail shop lacked the crispy snap that you want in an autumn apple in New York. You are better off at other venues that have a more favorable picking schedule. It's a shame because it such a nice place, with good prices...but ultimately you have a good chance of being disappointed in the product. read more

We checked this spot out for peach picking one weekend afternoon. The surrounding area is peaceful and it's not far from the quaint downtown Warwick shopping and dining area. Pros: Good selection of peaches, blueberries, nectarines and there will be millions of apples. Easy parking! Reasonably priced entry: $5 per person over 5 and then a price by the pound for fruit. It is also medium sized meaning it is certainly walkable though they do have a tractor rides. The negatives are no bathrooms really (just porta pottys by the e Terrance) and no food/much of anything else besides the farm. read more

This was my first time going to Och's I usually go to Apple Ridge but I read recent reviews saying they had no apples. I know this is late in the apple picking season so that was understandable But Och's had PLENTY of apples. First of all the grounds was BEAUTIFUL! Very well kept. It's so humongous I had to ask a worker how big was the property.. (200 acres). Kim was so helpful, she gave us a detailed map of the orchard and told us exactly where to go to find apples. The apples were DELICIOUS!!! I swear the best apples I have ever tasted in my life and I always buy apples all year round. It's my favorite fruit. After apple picking we went to the market and got apple cider donuts which were also delicious and my BF got Apple crumb pie Ice cream. It was really good. We live in NYC and when we got back we shared apples with our friends and family and they could not stop raving about the apples. lol We will definitely be back next year. oh yeah I like how they have 2 options of bags sizes/prices. The other Orchards only have 30$+ bags available which is ridiculous.. no one needs that many apples. read more

This place is on top of the world. And the view is amazing. Came here at the end of the season so we missed alot of the peppers and eggplants but there were still plenty of apples on the trees. Your entry fee is the bag size needed to pick your apples. $18 for a small bag or 1/4 bushel or $26 for a large bag or half bushel. The half bushel is the size the recommend for groups of 4. The map they give you at the entry is a little confusing but they have stakes in the ground around the orchard with numbers to remind you of your location . They also label each row of trees with the types of apples that can be found and also when they are at its ripest. Be sure to visit their little shop halfway down the hill. Its like a country store. They have pies and seasoning and ice cream and empanadas. read more

My significant other and I + another couple came here for a fall Saturday afternoon out of the City. It did not disappoint. The orchard is beautiful and clean. The apples are plentiful. The views, breathtaking. Fun change of pace activity that yields an insane amount of apples. We arrived at ~12PM and stayed for two hours. We went to Ochs many many times but never wrote a review. Ochs is a great way to spend time with nature, family and see where you food comes from. Yesterday we spend some time picking delicious Strawberries on the field while enjoying family and the amzing view surrounding the Farm. We cant just leave witheout saying hello to the Donkey, Sheap and goats at the pedding zoo and sure not leaving without some Cider Doughnuts... Ochs totally is worth a trip if you like down to earth and non fancy activities and dont mind to get dirty while you digging for your own Lunch and Dinner on the fields. Strawberries are more expensive than in the store ( almost $6 a pound) and for some reason they charge additional $5 entrance fee for everyone over 4 years. So I was a bit disappointed by that and only give 4 stars... Highly recommend to everyone and we will be back read more

A really nice orchard about 1.5 hours away from Queens. Obviously, it's great to visit during the weekday so that you're not vying for the same apples and space as everyone else. The views are spectacular. Came this past Thursday around 1pm and the parking lot only had about 10-15 cars. They allowed us to bring our wagon to carry our kids but otherwise we didn't carry anything else in there. We specifically came just for the Honeycrisp apples since the season is pretty short for them cause demand is high. We walked to the farthest field so that we had a higher chance of getting some and we were right. Any Honeycrisp fields close to the parking lot were all picked but the farthest one still had enough good apples to last through the weekend but not sure if there will be anything left by October. Not an easy trek but anything worth having takes some dedication. Only encountered one couple who picked most of their apples already so we were alone to pick at our pace to our heart's content in the beautiful orchard. We then left after walking around most of the rest of the orchard and headed to the market. We bought some of the apple cider doughnuts and they are the BEST we have ever had! Not sure what we will do once they are finished but I would drive back alone for the doughnuts cause they're so good. The texture is soft but firm, cidery in flavor and perfect snack size. This was the best part of the trip! There's a small area with animals to see next to the market and restrooms. But was too tired from hiking the hills. read more

Nice place to go apple picking in New York. $19 for a quarter bushel, and a bit for the apple picker pole, which I would recommend. It helps you get the big, hard-to-reach apple atop trees. Best place for apple picking! With the various orchards in Warwick, Ochs has a lot of competition, but they have more varieties of apples and a larger farm area than orchards nearby. The view from the top of the farm is beautiful especially in the fall because it is on top of a large hill. They also have the cutest animals, especially the two cows who they rescued because they were going to a slaughterhouse. All of the animals are very friendly. Ochs provides hand washing stations and a bathroom after you pet/feed them. The employees and owners are friendly every time and I always enjoy my time here. However, we went into the shop to look around and noticed a ton of flies. This wouldn't be a problem since it is a farm, but they were making apple cider donuts and all of the flies were sitting on the donuts. I understand the doors are open, but they need to cover the donuts and get more fly traps. This is a huge health concern considering those flies may have just been in the cow next door's poop. Final word: pick some apples or veggies, pet some animals, but stay away from the donuts! read more

Loved this place. My BF and I came here to pick some strawberries for the first time. We did arrive pretty late and was told that it was too late for strawberry picking- I think maybe they store thought they closed at the same time. Either way, we made our way up there to the section and Amy was sweet enough to let us pick fruits and informed us to go pick strawberries and we did! Such a cool experience. I love this farm!! Very popular so crowded on weekends and hard to find parking, but great selection of produce to pick and staff are so nice. I met a little black cat that likes to hang around the store :) prices are also very reasonable, I believe it's $5 a person to enter but $3 of that is valid for your produce purchase. We were hear in early September on a Friday. No crowds and just a lovey experience. We brought back tons of peaches and apples. The area is well kept and everyone was super helpful. You pay after your done picking. They'll give you a map with highlights of the areas that are in season for you to choose from. We had our choice of apples, peaches, kale, cabbage, tomatoes, potatoes and so much more. You can pay by the pound or get one of their bags to fill up as much as you can for $32. Came here this past weekend with some friends and some kiddies to pick apples. First time to this orchard. When you first enter there is a store that has ice cream, donuts, produce and other food/ grocery items. You have to drive up the hill to get to the orchard. We came late October so of course a lot of apples were gone but we were still able to fill our bags with about 4 or 5 different types of apples. In addition to some peas and peppers. It was good for picking apples. No cider, wine or other activities at this farm. There was some animals. They was a grill by the entrance that was selling food but it didn't look appealing.
