    Semi sweet cider flight! $23
    Elizabeth X.

Cute orchard! Pretty busy on weekends. They have a cidery, beer garden, apple picking, and a market. We went to the cidery and got a flight, as well as a full cider. They sell their own ciders too! Pizza is available for order. Staff is super friendly and the ciders were delicious! Market is filled with produce, baked goods, and more. They also sell kettle corn - yum! A nice day-getaway from the city. Only about an hour out!

This place has more than enough apples on the trees as long as you're willing to walk for them. Plenty of options and the ciders is an added bonus. The coders has its own brewing system on premises and has canned ciders for sale. The day I went they had a honey hopped cider that was so good. I just wish this one was canned up as well. Good food from the food truck and excellent pizza at the farm. Not much for the kids to do but if you want good foo, great apples, and the best cider----go here.

This orchard is really unlike any other I've visited before. There's pros and cons but overall I would visit again. We left pretty late on a Sunday, got there around 3. I expected parking to be difficult but they have multiple entrances and it was a mess. It did give us time to buy bags. I've never purchased apples this way before. Normally I pick them and pay per pound. This was 30 dollars a bag and it really was a decent size. I would say about two shoprite bags worth of apples. On the bag itself is a map of the area and where the apples are located. They were a bit difficult to get to. A lot of them were already out of season. They mostly had courtland apples so we got to picking. Arriving around 3pm left us with a limited selection but it was still doable. They also have little stand in between certain orchards where you can stop and buy some food or go to the bathroom. I thought that was really cool especially for families with small kids. They offered water and some easy things on the grill like hotdogs and burgers. If you have an SUV, bring it. The trails are a bit difficult. It really is a huge space and worth taking the time to walk around and discover different apples.

Been coming here for the past 6 years! You pull in and pay 30$ and they give you a large bag and you pick all the apples you can carry. My daughter (6) loves it every year. They have a wonderful selection of apples. If you go early enough you have your choice of any! Clean and well maintained. They also have a very cute area set up for the kids to play, chicken coupe and goats. My favorite part is the beer garden. Unfortunately this year Covid ruined it and you can't just walk around the beer garden you have to stay seated and eat.. really stinks.. they used to have a huge smoker and cooked pulled pork and I always look forward to it- this year they did not have any of that- just a small menu with mediocre options :-( big disappointment. Hoping next year they will bring back all the fun stuff they usually have! They also have a cute little shop with plants and outdoor Halloween decor. I got this amazing metal CEMETERY sign from them a few years ago, and never found anything else quite like it! Wish they would bring more of that back also!! The cider donuts are a must, they still have this and a cute little crepe stand if you're into that kind of thing :-) we'll be back in September hoping things change a little.

A family friendly and dog friendly place to pick apples. *Just be sure your dog is leashed!* Be sure to check their website to find out what apples are ready to be picked. http://www.penningsorchard.com/ After a drive from Queens to Pennings Orchard... we head straight to the eating area by the Farm Market for their Fish & Chips. Fish is freshly fried and fries are a little crunchy. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/IqnnUyUjxdpECxWA_wRj8Q?select=G4cQmbxhITKy1pRo_dFBag http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/IqnnUyUjxdpECxWA_wRj8Q?select=PZJOZMU3o-k96KtIsvKgmQ With bellies full, we get into our car again and drive to the their parking area for apple picking. There are 8 different parking areas. We usually park in Lot 5 as it is the most central location. Map - http://www.penningsorchard.com/docs/OrchardMap.pdf Each car is required to purchase a minimum of 1 bag for apple picking, which costs $25 cash. Before you leave the orchard, be sure to stop by the Farm Market again for Kettle Corn and freshly made Cinnamon Doughnuts! Pennings Farm Market - http://www.yelp.com/biz/pennings-farm-market-warwick#query:pennings%20orchard Notes: 1) Cell Phone Reception - depending on how old your actual cell phone is, you may not get reception. I have an oldy moldy flip phone that barely got signal but bf was able to get a signal with a Blackberry Bold. Both phones are with Verizon. 2) Kids - just a warning - the place can be a bit chaotic and busy with kids running a muck.

Great place for fall activities! They have apple picking (very organized with signs), beer garden, different food vendors, and shopping. Apple picking is $30.00 a bag! The beer garden is cute but small. In my opinion they needed more tables. There wasn't enough for the amount of traffic that there was. The bar inside the market was kind of small with only a few tables for people to sit at. Coming here in Saturday was overwhelming. There was lines for everything you do more waiting than actually doing. I guess crowds are expected at this time of year. I would recommend coming here right when they open and not early afternoon

The most important thing about visiting Pennings Orchard is picking someone you can spend the whole day with. I visited last September with my friend Kaelin, and we ended up spending the whole day here. By mistake. We drove up from New York City. There was no traffic across the Brooklyn Bridge or among the sprawl of small hotels surrounding Met Life stadium. We mocked them and scoffed, how useless and inane. The drive wound us through patches of Northern New Jersey that looked more like Ireland than America. It was radiant, verdant and the perfect landscape to open the windows and play DJ and driver.  When we arrived no fewer than four people every 100 yards told us to keep driving to the back. We bought an apple bag, parked in a field and tried to remember what variety of apples are good for what. The rows of trees are bountiful and closer to the ground. We were quickly distracted by a barn at the top of the driveway. There were loose calfs in pens that day, so we pet them without supervision and with hand sanitizer. It was a gorgeous, not quite hot day, and there was plenty of room to graze the trees a few times before picking the best apples. And plenty of room to drop your keys somewhere in the tall grass.  When you lose your car keys at Pennings, don't waste your time looking. We retraced our lazy steps through the trees for hours and didn't find them. It was annoying, then a little worrying, and eventually it was a resigned brand of funny. This is where great friendships are discovered, not made. You won't tough it out, you'll hang out and see what happens. Make sure you're the type of people who can roll with the punches. Fortunately, it is hard to run out of ways to kill time at Pennings! I bought lunch. This area was more crowded with lots of families getting completely decent food and drinks at the bar. The dads were ordinary and handsome. We contemplated hopping in the back of a pick up and starting a new, rural life. It seemed romantic and plausible. We have skills. Kaelin is very good at riding horses. I'm tall.  If you're looking for more sustenance, the ShopRite across the street is the single greatest grocery store I've ever seen. It had a fresh meat bell -- it signaled the presence of ripe ground beef. Also maybe two city slicker fools who were trapped with no way out. They also have indoor seating, so you can sit there for an hour or two eating gluten free cookies and salsa. It is crucial you pick someone you cannot run out of things to talk about with. When you exhaust the orchard, the calfs, and the ShopRite there is an ice cream window and a crepe shack. The ice cream is solid. On top of that there is live music. Yes, if you get trapped at Pennings they will provide live entertainment! We didn't try any alcoholic cider, but as the sun went down we silently contemplated it. It might fuel a rendezvous with someone who owned car keys. Take the apples in the bag and steal the keys...  I bought apple cider. It was too sweet and not rich enough for my taste. I bought half a pie for our tow truck driver as tribute. We kicked through the grass one last time, the late summer sky turning gold at the edges and dark blue in the dreamy center. Cars and their apple bags pulled out of the field one by one until only our small, inert chariot was left in the middle like the last goose on the lake before flying south. The lighting at Pennings is unbeatable. If you wait around until the last minutes of daylight, you will snap your new profile picture. (A talented and indulgent photographer is required though.) The sensational drive that made arriving at Pennings glorious made it quiet and unremarkable leaving it, sandwiched in the front seat of the tow truck. (The tow truck driver took so long that I withheld the half pie.) The drive home is where you'll know if you're good friends or not. If you don't start fighting in front of the nice man, you're probably good for life. You won't get to play the rest of your playlist though, leaving the best of Taylor Swift, John Mayer and Harry Styles for another day. More than once you will ask yourself if you have to sleep in the hotels you mocked. You will also ask yourself if the higher power governing the universe is actually a Courtyard Marriot-based God. Not impossible.  Visiting Pennings is completely enjoyable even if you're stuck for six hours. You really can't run out of things to do. I bet it's even less stressful if you choose to be there for six hours. However, it's only fun if you like the person you're with, if you understand each other, love each other and have a particularly unhinged joint sense of humor. If you must lose your car keys, do not do it in an orchard. You will never find them. But if you could pick an orchard to lose your keys in, Pennings is your best bet. It's a fine place for a fiasco. Alas, we will probably never return. It is cursed land, and we got the hint. P.S. If anyone ever located the keys, let us know.

Drove 1.5 hours up here since my friends really love this place and I gotta say it was definitely worth it! Besides the apple orchard and kids activities, there's a ton of adult stuff to do at this farm. There's a decent dice Biergarten with a really good selection of homemade brews, tons of food trucks/vendors, and an indoor farmers market with lots of yummy treats. There's a ton of really cute photoshoot areas and overall the atmosphere is really nice for an adult gathering. I hope to be returning next fall!

Really unpleasant apple picking experience!! All of the apples that were apparently "ready" were entirely green and the apples that looked red were all rotten. They should've told us to wait at least 2 weeks before coming to pick them. Like the other reviews mentioned, the owner is extremely rude and you pay for $30/bag upon entering (which was expected but if any apples overflow they force you to pay for another bag. I now have spent $60 on apples of poor quality and will never be coming back here again.

We went here on a random Wednesday afternoon so we basically had the orchard to ourselves. The first parking lot you see is for their store, you have to keep driving up for the u-pick orchard. There you check in to pay your admission fee, get your wristband, and get your apple picking bag(s). They give you a map where the ripe apples are highlighted for you. My favorite apples were the honeycrisp and snap dragons. They grow vegetables too but honestly we didn't explore the orchard that much (it was huge) so the only other thing I picked besides apples was a tomato, which I felt like was pretty difficult to find a good one. I handed out the apples to other friends and colleagues and they all liked them! There's something different about picking the apple straight off the tree than the apples you would normally just buy at a grocery store. It's a lot crispier when you pick them yourself! The store has apple cider doughnuts! Now being that I am a Californian where we don't have this apple picking culture, I was wondering what all the hype around apple cider doughnuts was about. NOW I GET IT they're so good! Unfortunately since we went on a weekday the doughnuts weren't fresh (they make them fresh on the weekends) so some of them were stale, but most were still good. It's honestly more of a cake than a doughnut, but so good! The doughnuts are self serve towards the back. The store also had a cat on the prowl haha We ended up not even having time to visit the petting zoo, but overall I think my colleagues had a good time here and I would recommend this orchard for anyone trying to have a no frills apple picking experience. I believe there was like a building restroom closer to the store and port o potties closer to the u-pick orchard.

The apple cider donuts are a must-try! We came on a winter day few days after Christmas and they had free samples of apple cider. I got some tea and honey to bring back home to FL. I also bought some apples and they were so soft inside and juicy. Unlike any other apple I've had. I wish I had a way to bring the Amish butter home since a family member has it in their home I often have it with bread in the morning. The staff were friendly, and everything was well-organized. Heads up It's a bit busy during peak times, but that's to be expected at a popular place. But when we came on a Saturday they were practically empty and lady made a joke not to come on the weekends so I assume normally it's a busy day or they dedicate it to stocking up since when we came I saw about 3 of the staff unboxing stuff. Overall, a really enjoyable experience with a charming atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back next season!
