His taste is impeccable, and every part of the farm felt thoughtfully designed, from the manicured gardens and elegant tents to the breathtaking "Enchanted Orchard." Even in February, the beauty and atmosphere were undeniable. Although we were unsure after reading some mixed reviews, booking Liberty View Farm was the best decision we made. Billiam and "Magic" Kathy have decades of experience, and we were comfortable trusting their guidance on timing, seating, and photos. It also made planning so much easier that things like bathrooms, linens, chairs, and tables were already included and we didn't have to get separate vendors. The day itself was seamless and full of thoughtful touches. One of the most meaningful was how Billiam and Kathy cared for my father, who is ill with cancer. They made sure he was comfortable, driving him back to his lodgings when he grew tired and later bringing him cake. We were floored by their kindness. The flowers were also extraordinary. Ivon is a true artist, and the lush tablescapes combined with antique china and linens created a timeless and unforgettable atmosphere. Many of our guests said it was the most beautiful and magical wedding they had ever attended, and I wholeheartedly agree. Ill start off with saying I have no clue how this venue is rated so low. The experience my wife and I received was nothing less than perfect. She is very particular with what she wants but isnt rude, entitled, or mean about asking (this might be key here). Billiam and his team were exceptional at accommodating her wishes and took care of everything for us. It's very obvious to me that everyone working with/for Billiam found their calling in life. While I have never been a personal patron of Liberty View Farm, I've been closely involved with two weddings here in the last twelve months. The venue is undeniably beautiful, and both events ultimately turned out well. It's hard to overstate how nice the overall space is - the greenery, the flowers, the atmosphere are all very picturesque. The day of experience for both events was fantastic. In both cases we had rain but hybrid indoor/outdoor options made the experience pretty smooth. However, it's unfortunately extremely clear that the owner has bitten off more than he can chew in running the business and the operational aspect beyond just day-of execution. One of the big selling points of this venue is that the owner has multiple housing options onsite and nearby that he can offer to the family, wedding party etc; in both cases, that housing was promised (and paid for!) and then failed to materialize (sometimes within days of the event; once, the owner appeared to block the phone number of the coordinating person rather than admit that the property was unavailable?) leaving the couple scrambling to find airbnbs or hotels for their most important guests. One couple needed to directly threaten to bring the owner to court to get their deposit back, and another spent weeks on the phone to get it returned. More generally, the owner is uncommunicative and inconsistent, and both weddings experienced a variety of logistical challenges that the couple needed to deal with at the last minute. I would not trust the owner to deliver on the larger organizational details and encourage anybody getting married here to assume that last minute problems will crop up and need to be dealt with. Hiring a local event coordinator independent of the venue would be wise. It's clear the owner has good intentions, but also clear he needs to hire a business manager to run the operational aspects so he can focus on day-of experience and developing the property. There's a lot of potential but the execution falls short in a way that turns into stress and headache for couples getting married here. read more

Was there for a wedding. What a muddy mess! Yes, it rained a lot. But the roads around the venue are not graveled so guests had to navigate through water and muddy potholes. And the tent was erected over gravel which made it really tough for all the ladies wearing heals to move around the space. Plus the bathroom was disgusting. Plenty of other venues around where there is better preparation for celebrations. read more

I was very interested in this venue for my daughter. Spoke to the owner for half an hour. Then tried to book a tour. He initially agreed to a date and time that would accommodate his sailing schedule but texted back that he had a sudden dentist appointment along with asking if this was a Jewish wedding. I never heard from him again. My daughter also tried to reach out to him with no response. Absolutely would not recommend this venue to anyone. read more

After going and discussing our wedding and the plans, and him agreeing to a date and price, he said he'd email the contract.....never ever heard from him again. So we were apparently not worthy of his place? It was not a good experience. Fake to our face. We're in the middle of our daughter's wedding weekend extravaganza and I just had to post about the fabulous job Billiam and his team are doing! The farm venue is gorgeous, his staff very knowledgeable and willing to make sure we are having an outstanding event and the decorations are breath-taking- and we haven't even had the wedding yet!! Words fail when trying to convey how unbelievably perfect this venue is. The owner, Billiam, is authentic, generous, hands on and makes you feel at home. In fact, my husband and I had the honor of staying at his antique, comfortable farmhouse on property. The gardens rival many at famous mansions around the world and their bounty provided color to the tables, bathrooms etc. Evonne provided the flower artistry among his many talents. Cathy, otherwise known as Magic Cathy, orchestrated each detail along with Billiam and the unnamed men and women who graciously attended to our every need. The rehearsal/welcome dinner in the orchard again was breathtaking. Lights provided by chandeliers hung on tree branches, lanterns carefully placed provided a fairytale setting for our daughter's dream wedding. Rain on the actual wedding day was not a problem for this team of professionals. Umbrellas appeared without asking and the bride and party remained unscathed. The tent was gorgeous with candles, and yet more beautiful flowers. The barn was transformed into a dancing area making conversation in the separate tent easy. Later the barn became a silent disco center. The comments we received by guests were overwhelmingly the best wedding ever. I concur and am grateful that Billiam was at the helm to treat my daughter as his own. Can you tell we love this place and the people even more!! read more

Phenomenal time. I stayed from Thursday until Monday. Billiam and his Partner Rockie are amazing. Magic Cathy, Henry, and Marc made sure everyone had a great time. All of the staff was phenomenal. When we arrived, we stayed at the farmhouse. It has a very Ralph Lauren feel. Really nice. My first night there, I took a shower downstairs. The bathroom has heated tile floors(really nice touch). The room I stayed in had the most fluffiest down comforter I've ever slept under in my life. When we walked thru their apple orchard, we found a beautiful yurt nestled in the heart of it. However, The orchard is so big, we couldn't find it again when we went back!! The wedding was sooo freaking beautiful. They really have a thing for detail. After the reception, We danced until about 10ish, then Billiam announced for everyone to follow him down a trail where there was the most beautiful bonfire and s'mores station I've ever seen. Literally though. They served chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows on silver platters. Best wedding I've ever been to. read more

Went here for a wedding earlier the summer of 2018. Was offered a room at a Bed and Breakfast that was right on the property of where the wedding was taken place. Sounds great, right? Waking up, getting ready and walking over to the wedding where we'll celebrate and then drunkenly stumble back and fall asleep. The location of the B&B was great, but the place itself was horrible. First, its $200 a night; i've stay in 4 star hotels in NYC for $250 and this looked like a cardboard box compared to that. 10 rooms/2 bathrooms/living room. The bedrooms had no AC, no fans (it was 78 degrees that night) and the beds had a plastic cover on them that would not come off (assuming some people come home from the wedding drunk and piss the bed? idk) Walked over to the venue before everything got started and Billiam the owner had kids helping him put everything together; not a crew, not a catering company, kids; like 15-16 years old which was a little fishy. After reading some other reviews on here, seems that this was because he low-key does weddings here and doesn't have proper paperwork and permits. IF YOU GO TO A WEDDING HERE, EXPECT NO ALCOHOL TO BE PROVIDED UNLESS YOU OR THE BRIDE/GROOM BRING IT. He does not have a liquor license; he told the couple that were getting married that he would have it before their big day; showed up and he had nothing. The wedding of 150 people had to suffice with beer, sangria that lasted about an hour, and a bottle of Jack and Bacardi that was passed around. read more

Not only because it is extremely beautiful, but we both instantly fell in love with Billiam. He is a genuinely kind and wonderful person. Without his help, we would've had a very difficult time getting the connections to other aspects of the wedding. We met pretty much every vendor we used through him (also wonderful people.) This review isn't about the actual farm, which from pictures, is gorgeous. But I'll share my experiences with any brides-to-be out there: I called the owner a few times and left messages about visiting the venue and possibly holding my wedding there. After not hearing back, I gave up and moved on. About a month later, I came across the farm again on a different list of wedding venues in the Hudson Valley and decided to email again. The owner actually emailed me back and I was super excited! In his email he said that once we have agreed, he's happy to email and text but for the first talk, he needs to talk to me in person. He gave me his number. I called and left a message and emailed him to let him know I did so. He responded an hour later to say he's walking into an hour meeting and will contact me shortly. Then.... nothing. For days. So I called him again and left a message, and then did that again, and finally after feeling like I was becoming a crazy bride (which I'm not - I'm just not that into weddings - but I wanted to lock the venue so I could move on with my life), I decided to write him an email apologizing for the multiple calls (no more than once a day, and a total of maybe 3 in a 1.5 week period), but letting him know that we wanted to lock down a place so we would stop having to do these venue visits, and still nothing. So after all that, we decided that if we were getting this kind of service before we even signed a contract, we can't imagine how he'd treat us once we made a deposit. So we're moving on. If you're lucky enough to get this man to respond to your calls and emails, then I'm sure the wedding will be beautiful (based on pictures), but I'll never recommend this venue to anyone. read more

I imagine a lot of bad reviews are written in the heat of the moment...so this is writing with six months to reflect, and I still feel the exact same way about this Horrible place (or should I say owner). Buyer be Very aware. If I could leave zero stars, I would. The wedding I attended (yes, the view's awesome) ended with Billiam the diva owner from hell freaking out and kicking the entire wedding party out at 10PM, the bride in tears and a lot of very reasonable people trying to reason with him to find a solution, and Billiam not giving one ounce of compassion to this awesome girl on her wedding day. Billiam should not have weddings at his farm if he wants it treated as a museum and not as a place where people actually come to have fun on a joyous celebratory occasion. So I take that back about not coming here- if you want your event to be chaperoned and shadowed by an anal-retentive billionaire who bought a farm on a whim and makes himself feel like he has friends by hosting weddings and who does not have one ounce of compassion or interest in his guests experience, and your whole event will be done at sundown, definitely come here. Oh and yeah, the view is great. If you are a couple with a pulse and have any friends who like dancing or "music" and a few drinks, don't come here. There's some great dive bars a few miles a way in down town, as that is where the wedding party I went to had to end up going. The setting wasn't as great, but Billiam wasn't there. Im in the wedding industry as a vendor. I've seen 100+ weddings I was hired for a wedding here and I was totally appalled at the way this guy is running the place. He makes up random rules on the wedding day and I'm pretty sure he doesn't have the proper licensing to run a venue. I'm guessing this because he's super paranoid about every little thing. The venue is absolutely stunning, but def come armed with a really really tough and thorough wedding planner. That would be the only way to survive this hot mess. read more

I understand not everyone has a good experience with everything and that's why we have yelp, but the reviews on here leave me with tears in my eyes because not only was my wedding at Liberty View Farm perfect in every way, but Billiam has become my friend over the past few years and the things people are saying on here about him are just unbelievable. It's true, at times he might be somewhat difficult to get a hold of, but don't let this be the deciding factor on whether or not you get married here or not, that's silly. Be patient. Once you get a hold of him, or vice versa and if there's a good chemistry, you will know, like I did, that you will have the best wedding ever...and I did! Agreed with "Gina" another bride/yelper, that the phone reception up there is spotty at best, I was just there for 3 days, we went for our anniversary and returned today, with a few voicemails and texts that didn't go through until I hit a certain area. So if he isn't at home sitting on the couch utilizing his wifi, Ha!...you might have trouble getting to him right away (and yes he does prefer texts). I assure you, he hardly ever gets a chance to sit and relax (he owns a beautiful working farm, with veggies, an organic apple orchard, bees, chickens, goats) he runs a farmers market, he has apple pickers come to the farm and assists them, he helps out with a food pantry, he does weddings, he is a big name in the community, he eats, he showers, he helps people, he drives people around who don't have a car, he goes and visits friends who don't feel good, he gets acupuncture, he cooks, he attends meetings, he has a life and goes out from time to time.....) and who knows what else I missed. The guy is a busy man, but he is the sweetest man once you get to know him, or you'll know, like I did after talking to him for 2 minutes....and most importantly, after all of that, he does somehow manage to focus on you and your wedding to make it the best day of your life. The venue is beautiful (which most seem to agree) and everyone who came to my wedding, YES EVERYONE, still to this day (our 2nd Anniversary was 2 days ago) tells us they LOVED the wedding, it was the best wedding they'd ever attended, it wasn't the "same old damn thing", it was so beautiful, and so on. Billiam, is so willing to work with you, help out along the way. Through him I met my photographer, my officiant, my florist, my caterer, my band, my hair and nail salon, the caterer for my rehearsal dinner, the party supplies supplier, even where to get cheap candles and other supplies online, and I'm probably missing some others. You won't need a separate wedding planner, as vendors know the farm, know him, and he can recommend everything. He will assist you by having phone meetings, see what's happening, how you're feeling, what progress has been made, if things have been ordered, etc. If you're an anal bride who needs everything now now now, all I can tell you is, you're going to feel that way, and sometimes it might not seem like things are moving and going smoothly, but believe me, it all comes together so beautifully in the end. I cannot say enough about Billiam, the wedding, my experience, the farm...I can go on all day about how perfect it all was for me. All I can say to potential brides is be patient, and be prepared to have the most beautiful wedding (and wedding pictures) ever, and do not let the negative reviews on here keep you from contacting him or considering LVF as your venue. It might not be the right venue for you, look into it, talk to him, figure out what you want and if this place works for you. I consider Billiam to be a close friend now, I love him. He is not a "diva" nor is he a billionaire. He is SO genuine and kind and caring. I'm so happy and proud, that I can say we got married at Liberty View. read more

Liberty view Farm is Amazing!!!  We got married there on June 12th 2021, and six weeks later our guests are still raving about how amazing the wedding was.  The farm is absolutely beautiful and guest after guest told us how unique it was and how great it was to be at a different type of wedding that was not a "wedding factory," venue.  The staff were the nicest people in the world, and could not have been more kind.  Billiam Van Rostenberg, the owner of the farm worked with us every step of the way to ensure our wedding was everything we could have hoped for.  Billiam and "Magic Kathy," were so understanding, and always worked with us to solve any issue that came up, and planning a wedding during COVID, there were a lot of them.  Billiam and Magic Kathy helped us work with finding anything we needed for the wedding from food that we wanted, floral arrangements, and helping us figure out lodging options for our guests.  They are special people, we feel lucky to not have only worked with them, but to now also call them friends.  This is a truly special place and I cannot speak enough about how lucky we feel to have gotten to married there. I see some of the negative reviews on here, and they cannot be further from the truth. Billiam is an incredibly kind, caring, and genuine person. He cares deeply about his guests, and his community as he is heavily involved in the local food bank. If you want to get married here Billiam will work with you every step of the way, but you have to make it your own. If you want a wedding venue that has everything pre-set then this may not be the venue for you. But if you want to have a totally unique custom experience, then I cannot recommend Liberty View Farm enough!!! read more

Unfortunately, while the farm is lovely, the service and owner is not. I was interested in Liberty View Farm for my wedding and had a similar experience as Susan T(below). Billiam Von Roestenberg (owner/farmer) refused to offer pricing information after I had inquired via emailed and phoned once and left a message. Later, while text messaging (which his message says is his preferred method of contact), he accused me of tresspassing on his farm and stealing items from his barn, also told me he would report me to the local police? I was just looking for a venue to hold my wedding and wanted pricing and accommodation information. It was very upsetting and I have since told other interested parties that it seems he is not in business with the public as he runs an apple farm and advertises it as a wedding venue but does not know how treat customers. I have heard additional stories since that he has burned a bridge with a neighboring restaurant after wanting them to sign an exclusive legal contract with him, and refusing to show the farm to brides during the winter months. I have no problem taking my tens of thousands of dollars elsewhere to work with a wedding vendor who treats people like human beings. I advise you to do the same. read more

Attended my friends' wedding there this summer and worked a lot with Billiam to try and make things go smoothly on the wedding day. Billiam does not belong in the wedding business. He can't handle stress well and I was taken aback by his lack of professionalism. The poor bride--a sweet and caring person--was crying at the end of her wedding night after Billiam shut the wedding reception down early. It's a beautiful farm and while Billiam may seem charming, don't book a wedding here. You will regret it. I am a bride who was just married at Liberty View Farm and had the most wonderful wedding. It was truly a perfect weekend that reflected me and my husband. In response to Lauren's post below, I have to say I am pleased that Billiam honored the sanctity and privacy of our weekend. I know that Billiam just wrapped up his last wedding of the season, so the farm should be much more available for visits! To the eager brides below, believe me, I know it's tough to find the right venue! Billiam and his team are actually wonderful people. But I will tell you that Liberty View Farm isn't for everyone. LVF is not pre-fab in any way. Each wedding held at LVF is completely and totally unique. If you are looking for a venue that can send you pre-set package options, then LVF is probably not the right venue for you. As Billiam mentioned in one of the emails quoted below, he interviews each couple that gets married on the farm. The reason being, that a wedding at LVF is a lot of work because everything is custom and he wants to make sure that it's the right fit for you and aligns with what you are looking for! While LVF is a wedding venue, please keep in mind that it is a working farm first. They have acres of apple orchards, turkeys, chickens, a bee apiary, goats, and a beautiful vegetable garden. We LOVED that LVF is a working farm and a huge part of why we chose to be married there. Billiam is a complete gem of a person. We became so close over the year of wedding planning that I actually felt like I was getting married on my family's farm. Billiam and his team care tremendously about their farm--which you can easily see by just stepping on the property. From the farmhouse to every inch of the orchard, LVF is magical. I will speak briefly about my wedding. My husband is in the food industry so food/eating/cooking/farming is a huge part of who we are. For us, Liberty View Farm was the perfect venue. We wanted a casual but beautiful setting, in the country (we live in Manhattan), in the fall (harvest - our favorite season.) My husband and I sourced each of our vendors individually - also something that was really important to us. Billiam was very accommodating and made a point to connect with each of our vendors individually, inviting them to the farm prior to our event, to make sure they were familiar with the property. All the vendors we chose were local to the HV. All of them either knew Billiam personally or knew of him and his farm. He's a "celebrity" in the area. The Hudson Valley is an amazing community and we were honored to share in it for our wedding. I will admit that Billiam can be tough to get a hold of. However, again, please keep in mind that LVF is a working farm in the country. Cell service can be spotty depending on weather and trees and while Billiam puts tremendous care and love into each of the weddings on his farm, his other priority is running his farm and maintaining it's beauty. My husband, my mom and I did the majority of the leg work leading up to the wedding. We did not have a wedding planner other than Billiam and his team. Over the course of the year, Billiam invited us to visit 5 or 6 times and carved out time for us to touch base. That's in addition to countless conference calls and text messages (text message is his preferred way to communicate.) While scheduling and getting a hold of Billiam leading up to your wedding may be tough at times, Billiam and his team truly shine during your wedding weekend. My husband and I arrived on the Wednesday before our wedding and left on Sunday evening. At that point, my head was in the clouds. Billiam and his team completely mastered the event from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. There were things that happened behind the scenes that I didn't even know about until much later. They DO know how to run a wedding at their farm. They've seen it all and know how to manage any situation. But it's more than that. Billiam is hosting a wedding at his personal home, so his attention to detail, creativity, aesthetic and love all shine through. You are truly welcomed into the Liberty View Farm family. Guests described our wedding as: "Best wedding they've ever been to" "Warm" "Welcoming" "Beautiful" "Comfortable" "Fun" Just like any venue, you want to make sure it's the right fit for you and the type of wedding you want. For us, LVF was the perfect venue. But it's a lot of work. If that isn't your style, then LVF won't be right for you. That is why Billiam likes to interview his potential couples. As a bride who had her wedding on Liberty View Farm last year, I can tell you that the negative reviews about this venue and/or the owner are ridiculous. First off, the farm is absolutely beautiful. Picturesque views, well-maintained greenery, and charmingly rustic structures. Not at all pretentious. I was impressed on first sight. But what really sealed the deal was our initial tour of the grounds with Billiam, the owner. He was attentive, courteous, and super knowledgable about the whole process. We felt like we would be in great hands with him. And he didn't disappoint! Throughout the several months leading up to our wedding (we decided not to use a wedding planner), Billiam was instrumental in guiding us through the process and helping us avoid typical pitfalls. He was like our own personal wedding consultant, as we touched base with him nearly once a week. He always gave us great advice and met our needs. The weekend of our wedding went off without a hitch! I couldn't have asked for better execution and service. A lot goes into a wedding, so it's invaluable to have an experienced professional manning the helm. To this day, I still can't thank Billiam and his staff enough! I've talked to other couples who got married on Liberty View Farm and they all have the same glowingly positive memory of their wedding and effusive praise for Billiam. Just had friends wedding this weekend at Liberty View Farm. Don't have your wedding here, unless you want to end up unhappy at the end of your night. Owner is extremely unprofessional, inconsiderate and doesn't know how to properly run his establishment. Don't promote yourself as a wedding venue, if you can't properly coordinate an event. My wife and I had our wedding here. It. Was. Amazing. Billiam went every extra step to make sure our day was perfect and didn't try to nickel and dime us at all. It was true service. The farm was beautiful and the apples were a huge hit. We rented a couple trees for our guests and they all went home with bags and bags of apples, and now 3 weeks later they are still commenting on how delicious they are. The setting is perfect for a unique wedding and we can't recommend it enough. With how stressful weddings are, it was a welcome relief to walk the peaceful grounds hearing baby goats and piglets, while eating some of the most delicious apples we have ever had.
