It was raining so we didn't sit outside but she offered to dry down a table for us if we wanted. There is a huge array of little cheeses and chips to pair with your wine as well. The vibe inside is amazing. And, I ended up forgetting my wallet at the winery, and she was kind enough to package it up and have it ready for me even after they'd closed. I also purchased a small wine tumbler. The people that worked there, some were friendlier than others. It provided a detailed and hands on explanation of their entire process and the history of the property. It was truly exceptional! Their distilled spirits are excellent. Their vodka has a unique creamy texture on the tongue and was also excellent! The final tasting was performed in a beautiful private room where they rent out liquor lockers to frequent visitors! My husband and I bought 2 bottles of her Seyval Blanc (*ahem AND a bag of chocolate-covered orange peels). I also REALLY wanted a bottle of the Romance dessert wine, but had to draw the line somewhere... The property is just beautiful. We will definitely be back.

We went because all four of us visiting the Hudson River Valley love sparkling wine. It is so expensive to get those bubbles into the bottles, as it were, that few wineries produce bubbly in NY and we were intrigued to try this vintner's product. Even if they do use Seyval as the base varietal. (Not our fav.) Lovely setting. Fun and funky tasting room. A great guy behind the tasting bar (CIA graduate now moved from food to wine) pouring one of the vineyards two sparklers and several of their wines derived from fruit other than grapes. A modest tasting fee ($10) provides five tastes of your choice. But I'm sorry to say we were not fans of the wine. Sparkling or otherwise. We almost always buy at least one "courtesy bottle" at a winery, even if we've had to pay for tasting. But we couldn't do that here. More fun or not depending on one's politics is the photo wall of pictures of the owners and Hillary Clinton and correspondence with Hillary Clinton. (Sadly, the husband of the husband - wife owner team passed away last year.) Wine aside, the setting is lovely and you can stroll around the grounds. And this is an easy - and beautiful - drive from the Hyde Park historical site to finish off a day of history touring. And it's on route to Red Devon Market, Bar and Restaurant, where we were headed for dinner. (And where YOU should go too...breakfast, lunch or dinner. Extraordinary place. But that's a different review. :-) ) Had I known this would be a first review for Clinton Vineyards I would have taken photos of the lovely setting and better photos of the tasting room. So it goes. But check the web site where beautiful pictures are posted for this charming place. A visit just for the setting is worthwhile even if you don't appreciate the wine.

I want to recognize Ashley, Abigail and Emily from sales, our maître d' Thomas, and our captain Amani. They were all so wonderful to work with! As someone who had never planned a wedding before, I had SO many questions, and Ashley was always so helpful and patient with me. She answered my very long emails with what probably felt like a million questions and helped us figure out so many details while planning from across the country. We worked with Emily during our final appointment, and she spent so much time with us going through everything, reviewing our timeline, and helping us get things organized. We had a lot of ideas and personal touches we wanted to include, and I really appreciated how much time they took to work through everything with us. One thing I learned throughout this process is that The Grandview has done a lot of weddings, and their team really knows what they're doing. I had a pretty specific vision for how I wanted our day to go, but I also knew that there were things I hadn't thought about. I really appreciated being able to lean on their experience and recommendations while still having the flexibility to make the day our own. On our wedding day, Thomas introduced himself early on and made sure we knew he was familiar with the timeline we had worked on. He had a few suggestions for adjusting certain parts of the day, but he was also really flexible and made it clear that he would work with us if we wanted to stick to our original plans. I appreciated that he took the time to talk everything through with us! And Amani was AMAZING! She was basically my shadow throughout the day, helping me carry things, making sure we knew where we needed to go, checking in about our meals, and just being there whenever we needed anything. After spending so much time planning and making decisions, having Thomas and Amani there to help everything run smoothly was such a relief. They really made us feel special and taken care of. We also had a pretty large live band performing in the tent, and The Grandview was great about accommodating them. They moved the dance floor back a few feet to give the band some extra space. It was a really cold day outside, but the temperature inside the tent was perfect! The band sounded amazing, dinner service went smoothly, and everything came together so well. The staff throughout the venue were also so kind and welcoming. Our guests were really well taken care of, and we appreciated how attentive everyone was during dinner and throughout the reception. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and made the experience that much better. The Grandview's wedding workbook was really helpful for understanding what the venue takes care of and what you'll need to coordinate yourself, especially when it comes to setting up personal decorations and making sure someone is available to pack everything up at the end of the night. We brought a lot of our own decor, so knowing what to expect ahead of time made a big difference. We had the best time, our guests felt so welcomed, and everything turned out beautifully!!!

First and foremost, the venue itself is stunning - featuring gorgeous marbling and chandeliers, in addition to a beautiful balcony type area outside - where the reception was held, in addition to ample seating and great photo ops with the bridge over the water. The food at cocktail hour was exceptional. Our bride and groom had a carving station, pasha station and crudite in addition to passed hors d'oeuvres. My favorites were the mini tacos - so fresh - with a margarita shot, the coconut shrimp, the penne vodka and the sushi! The venue where the reception was, was stunning! It was connected to the same room we had the cocktail hour, featuring a beautiful stone backdrop wall, a huge marble dance floor and gorgeous oval tables. The venue was stunning, the servers and wait staff were so incredibly friendly, hospital and accommodating and the food was delicious! My steak was a little undercooked, but otherwise everything was excellent and we had a wonderful evening. One odd footnote: I ordered a bourbon with a large ice cube and discovered a $3 upcharge on the bill. I've been ordering bourbon and scotch at bars around the world for decades and can't recall encountering that before. I wasn't bothered by the $3 nearly as much as the surprise charge with zero disclosure. Nothing on the cocktail menu. Nothing from the waiter. No indication whatsoever that asking for a large rock carried an additional charge. Charge whatever you want, but tell the customer before adding it to the bill. When I mentioned it, they graciously removed the charge, and I had a very pleasant conversation with a manager who understood the point and agreed it should be disclosed going forward. That's exactly how good hospitality should work. Excellent restaurant, excellent experience, and absolutely somewhere I'd return.
