    Beautiful dinning room

BEAUTIFUL place!! It was actually a little intimidating upon entering this great big hall with high ceiling and rustic chic decor with my 2 kids. A flash of "maybe we should've left the kids at home" thought entered my mind but was quickly reassured by friendly staff greeting us and seating us promptly. A pleasant surprise that they have Thai food here at the distillery. No kids menu but my kids love regular menu food, so no issues. We shared the veggie spring rolls as appetizers. The spring rolls were very small, probably 2-3 bite size, but delicious. We are all very happy with the portion and taste of our main dishes: green curry, spicy minced pork (forgot the name), and pad Thai. Veggie in the dish tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. We all finished the dishes without any leftovers with just enough room for dessert. They only had 1 dessert: NY cheese cake with Thai sauce. I'm guessing this changes from day to day, so we ordered one to share.... Good thing we did! The dessert was $16! Yacks, it was good, but I thought it was a bit pricey. Then again, this place is quite fancy so we knew it wasn't going to a cheap lunch. For reference, the main dishes range $22-34. Mixed drinks $14-$18... Our bill came to $175ish, so a little over $200 meal with tip. They also have a large outdoor space for the kids to run around. Cool large slabs of stone formation. You can order more drinks at the bar and bring the drinks outside. Very nice place, we'll be back.

    Stunning location.

Since our last visit Tenmile Distillery added a restaurant, Thai Baan, served in a stunning room. Service: Warm and welcoming from the minute you set foot into this gorgeous eatery. Food: Luscious and exotic for the area. Drinks: Well, you are in a distillery, but mocktails are available for those who must abstain. Hop off Metro North and it's just a hop, skip and jump down the road. It's like a mirage in the middle of a food desert!

Tenmile Distillery is a hidden gem! Visiting Tenmile is like visiting a genuine Scottish distillery. We booked a tour on a Saturday afternoon online. The online booking system is very easy to use. The basic tours are free of charge. Our tour guide, Chris, was a knowledgeable young man. He provided an excellent tour of the operation. We've toured many distilleries in Scotland, and Tenmile is on par with the very best. The tour ended at the bar, and Tenmile provided complimentary tastings. Fantastic! Tenmile produces a Scotch-style whisky that's equal to the very best in the world. We also sampled the vodka and gin. The vodka was outstanding. The hall and bar feature beautiful woodwork. Overall cleanliness: Spotless Bathroom cleanliness: Spotless Overall service: Excellent We highly recommend Tenmile!

Occasionally a celebrity walks through this town and restaurants do cater to a higher end clientele so that tricks some people into thinking this town has a restaurant scene (including the higher end clientele) True foodies and individuals that enjoy high-end dining don't go to Millbrook and Canoe Hill definitely won't change that. It's a run of the mill restaurant with average service that has a "curated menu" with "locally sourced ingredients" and a "specially selected wine menu" it also has the usual uninspired modern farmhouse aesthetic and of course a Chef that gets great reviews and accolades from local magazines ....that just coincidentally he advertises in. I won't waste my time or your time getting into the meal I had here cause it was so unimpressively dull and flavorless. But to sum it up -- Don't waste your time, money or night out.

We were here on a Monday night so it wasn't busy. Got seated right away and learned that Monday Night is Burger & a Beer special for $19. Great deal! Unfortunately they don't have beers on tap, but do have a decent bottled beer selection. I had the burger and hubby had the lasagna. The burger was cooked with duck fat, which really brings out the flavor. It was delicious. Hubby's lasagna was great too. Then we ended the dinning experience with a spiced ginger cake. It was very fitting for winter holiday, delicious but could be even better if served warm ala mode. Solid place and they change their menu often so it's always a new experience.

I understand food prices are up, but for a deli meal, the quality simply did not justify the cost. The Issues: * Overpriced: The steak sopes were delicious, but $19.00 for three is way too expensive for a deli. The spinach and egg drop soup ($8.50) was also overpriced and extremely salty. * Incorrect Prep: I ordered a "grilled" veggie sub ($12.50), but the vegetables weren't even grilled. I also asked for mozzarella, but they used Oaxaca cheese without telling me. * Hidden Fees: We were charged a $5 "suprema" fee for nachos without any warning. I also wasn't asked if I wanted to add fries ($3.25), so they were left off. * Health Concerns: I have diabetes, so the lack of calorie/nutritional info made it very frustrating to order safely. * Wait Time: The wait was ridiculously long for this type of establishment. The Highlights: The Aguas Frescas ($6.50) were excellent and highly recommended, and the girl behind the counter was very sweet. Overall: 5/10. The flavors are okay, but for these prices, I expected much better communication and execution. Why this works: * It highlights that you are a reasonable customer (you liked the staff and the drinks). * It makes it clear that the "Deli" setting doesn't match the high-end prices they are charging. * It warns other customers about the hidden $5 fee, which is usually what people appreciate most in a review

These things gave a nice brightness to the hero. The only con was that I wish there was a bit more meat in there. Otherwise, all the flavors married quite well together. We ate the autumn, chicken salad, wrap, and the Baja chicken wrap. My sister is gluten-free and was delighted they had menus with their gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. The staff member who took our orders was kind and generous in his service. Interestingly they also sell coffee beans, merch, and to-go foods from their kitchen. On my next visit, I look forward to trying the cheesecake and one of their bowls, paninis, or salads!

More recently, a coworker of mine mentioned she had dined here. Hubs and I had just finished with a gender reveal party in Stony Point and decided to come here then afterwards head up home. Ship L. has a warm, woodsy charm with dark woods, a large bar area to the right as you enter. This place has a spacious dining area on the left with an old-school energy that feels just right for a long-standing rest'nt like this one. Service was great from everyone: friendly, attentive and welcoming all around. That said, awesome service and history can only carry a restaurant but so far. We were told their long-standing chef of 30+ yrs either resigned(?) or didn't want to work here(?) and based on what my coworker told me- that she noticed a difference in the cooking not too long ago when she came here. Sadly, it shows. Our escargots were extremely salty. My husband's pork chop was salty. His vegetables also salty. At that point, I held out hope that my Chilean sea bass might at least redeem the evening. No such luck. Salty again. Even the mushroom risotto- which actually had delicious flavor, was overpowered by too much salt. By then, after one appetizer and two entrées all salty, we figured dessert would at least save the night. Nope. I ordered profiteroles with chocolate gelato instead of vanilla and was truly looking forward to them. Except, the profiteroles were rock hard. The chocolate drizzle tasted like Hershey's syrup, making the dessert taste cheap for a restaurant of this type. My husband, who always goes for sorbet, ordered the mango flavor- but to me it tasted like an unripe mango blended with sugar just to make it palatable.. If you're from the Caribbean or know a true mango taste, you know exactly what I mean. And don't even get me started on the cocktails- they tasted more like juice than actual drinks. At the end of the night, we realized we weren't imagining things. A $245 dinner with weak cocktails, overly salty food and disappointing desserts was no balance for a restaurant with such a long-standing history. For that reason... we out.
