As they age their barrels they to many eeative things, including double oak (moving the spirit to a new barrel), finishing in a different barrel and moving some spirits across arreks. All of the grains used are grown on their farm. The grains are tracked. Y field and harvest year to help the distillery work to improve their already wonderful products. A tasting is almost mandatory because their are so many expressions and some of the bottles are expensive (but worth it). The distillery is located in a very rural area and the staff akes you feel like you were invited to their home.

They are known for their small batch moonshine, especially the apple pie flavor. The ingredients usually has corn, maple syrup, cranberries, apple cider, and spring water. There are a few flavors to try, my favorite was the cranberry and the apple pie. They're open 12-5 on Sundays for tasting. The coolest part, it's free. The property is gorgeous. The building is cozy. The owners were welcoming. There was a picnic table outside; we enjoyed a flight of moonshine. Yes, definitely worth a visit.

When a lady came out distributing more. One serving of each was plenty for me. Shortly after I went inside to pay. I was expecting it to be around $30, because there was a sign that each shot glass is $3. Well, it was all on the house, just because it was our first time! Full Moonshine is open on Sunday 12-5. Their Apple Jack brandies are something special, which is partially why I returned to this place after 2-3 years having last gone by it. However, their farm stand delicacies (apple cider donuts, apple blossoms & more) were the other. So good! Plus, their Southern BBQ food is just plain great! Got the pulled pork sandwich and grilled cheese w/bacon & mushrooms, with sides mac-n-cheese, apple cidered collards, smoked beans and pickles. Took them to go, and 3.5 hours later enjoyed them all immensely! Legit southern BBQ food! Truly down home comfort food!

The quirky, funny artwork on them added a lot of character. I tried a flight of their spirits (three total: the bourbon, single malt, and small-batch applejack--about a shot of each), and my wife had a cocktail. Each of the whiskies was decent but very light. The bourbon was a bit smoother than the single malt. The applejack was okay, but not something I'd typically go for. We also tried their homemade hard cider. I'm not usually a cider drinker, and this one wasn't especially memorable--it was sharp and a bit dry, but lacked the sweetness I've enjoyed in other ciders.

You can buy Taconic Distillery whiskies at most liquor stores in the Hudson Valley, so why visit…read morethere? I can think of several reasons: 1. The products - they have a lot more available in-house than you might find at the liquor stores. That includes some whiskies with different finishes. I bought, for example, some of their Private Reserve bourbon, finished in a cognac cask. They also have rum and gin finished in bourbon casks for sale here. 2. The tastings. Tastings are 3 for $15, which IMO is not as good a deal as other distilleries in the Hudson Valley, and your initial choices are their bourbons, maple bourbon, and ryes. But there's a small sign on the wall which also implies you can alter that to a mix of whiskey and cocktails. 3. The cocktails. On their website, they list some you can make with their products, and if you are lucky enough to have Carol Ann, their mixologist there, you should consider trying some either as part of your tasting or separately. At $8, it's about half the price of similar cocktails in NYC. The gin & tonic using their gin was amazing, and that was with a generic tonic - imagine it with a premium tonic! 4. The scenery. It is an especially nice drive there in the fall, in rural Dutchess County not far off the Taconic Parkway. If the weather is nice, besides the comfortable chairs and tables inside at which you can drink and lounge, there are seats outside. 5. It's dog friendly, and if you look at their website, you'll see a few pictures of our canine companions enjoying themselves here. What are you waiting for?

There's definitely a following and a stopover crowd, but you're bound to leave with some new knowledge and a wetted whistle. The tasting price is perhaps a little steep, but the uniqueness of each of the products makes it worth it, especially if you think you might buy something to take home. Everything they do with maple is glorious, and the rye they make using Japanese barrels - while their most expensive - is very, very good. They also have a maple cream ($30) that is delicious. The shop also contains a lot of cute merch as well some single-bagged snacks. Check out the fridge in the back for Other Half beer (and others) and non-alcoholic drinks, too. And plan to stay a while! There's plenty of outdoor seating and fire pits.

It provided a detailed and hands on explanation of their entire process and the history of the property. It was truly exceptional! Their distilled spirits are excellent. I'm a whiskey fan and their product does not disappoint! While I'm not a huge gin drinker, their gin is incredibly unique and provides a complex tasting experience! Their vodka has a unique creamy texture on the tongue and was also excellent! The final tasting was performed in a beautiful private room where they rent out liquor lockers to frequent visitors! I only wish I lived closer so I could be a regular visitor!
