The gift shop has lots of jams, fresh pies and many other items, plus the best ever cider donuts! Donuts alone are worth the trip!! A new sitting area out back was a nice touch, loved the wood plank walls. It's a great place to visit.

What a great place!…read more We stopped off in the afternoon on a Wednesday during a short trip to the Berkshires. First off, LOVE that you can bring the dogs. Is this normal for an orchard? I'm not familiar. They have the cutest little store with apple cider donuts, fudge, little store items including an apple liqueur of some kind that I was lucky enough to try and that shit is DANGEROUS. They also have a wine tasting area and cider/beer tasting area. We got 2 apple cider donuts (obviously) which were incredible. We also tried a cider flight. I asked for "the fruitest shit you have" and we got a nice spread of different and interesting things including a lavender cider. All of the staff were super nice and friendly. The place is also massive if you are into a lot of walking and things.

Valentines weekend called for a trip down memory lane and to one of our favorite places, The Berkshires. Upon arrival our room was not ready so we looked for a wine bar/winery on Yelp. We were so thrilled to find Balderdash. They were pretty crowded since it was Valentine's Day, but we were able to grab a table in front of the live music. I ordered a wine flight (mostly from California vineyards) they don't grow any grapes here and my husband had a beer. What I also love about this place is that you can bring in your own food. I did see a bunch of couples sharing crackers and cheese. They had a cannoli cart pop up which was delicious! The live music was also great! I honestly didn't want to leave since we were having so much fun. I wish we lived closer we would be here all the time. Last time, we came on a Saturday afternoon and it was crowded inside, but there's plenty of seating outside. There was also live music and it was a great vibe. You can bring your own food, but they also have a food truck outside usually. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The person helping us this time let us try the wine before we bought it which was nice. I have gotten the flight once before, but the amount they give you to try for each wine is very small and for the price, I recommend just getting a glass of wine. My favorite is the truth serum rose blend.

We were hosted by the most knowledgeable and gracious couple (Lisa and Francis) who were welcoming and made our first experience a memorable one. We learned about the history behind the vineyard, the amazing artwork that decorates it (inside and out) and left feeling more well versed with wine. I am normally not a Chardonnay fan but since their Chardonnay is made in a steel barrel, it doesn't have the same buttery taste that an oak barrel would.. and I LOVED IT! (if y'all read this review, I hope that's correct). I also was surprised that I really liked their Sherry, which is one of the highest proofs spirits that they serve. It was strong but it was something enjoyable to sip on! (Def went home with a bottle of each) We happened to arrive in a night where us wasn't busy so if you arrive and it looks quiet, do not leave! We ended up receiving VIP one-on-one service that may have been different if the place was packed (which they mentioned it was the night before) The couple who spent time with us were so friendly, and after noticing a gift basket assembly on the table, even let me purchase it since I live in the city and wouldn't be back up this way for a while. Our only regret was not getting there earlier in the day so that we could enjoy the outdoor experience of the venue, since the property is covered in beautiful grassy fields and sculptures that are even on some of the bottle labels. It is a light white wine with pumpkin spice notes. Immediately bought two bottles. While we were enjoying our wine and cheese the owner, Wayne, came out to greet us and he was so friendly and kind. The winery is a family business and the name is inspired by three women whose names begin with the letter "M". Can't wait to stop back here on our next visit to the area.

Ticket at the gate was $25 but we got our tickets through Groupon for only $23 for the 2 of us which was a really sweet deal for this particular event from 11am-6pm. There were tons of tasting from wineries, distilleries, breweries, cideries but didn't quite balance well with the paucity of food vendors. Luckily there were food trucks around so you could grab a bite to eat, listen to the live band, go pets some goats at the petting zoo and then go back to for more drink tastings. Overall, Columbia County Fairgrounds is a terrific venue to host this type of event and was worth it for the drinks, entertainment, and free souvenir wine glasses.
