What a great place! We stopped off in the afternoon on a Wednesday during a short trip to the Berkshires. First off, LOVE that you can bring the dogs. Is this normal for an orchard? I'm not familiar. They have the cutest little store with apple cider donuts, fudge, little store items including an apple liqueur of some kind that I was lucky enough to try and that shit is DANGEROUS. They also have a wine tasting area and cider/beer tasting area. We got 2 apple cider donuts (obviously) which were incredible. We also tried a cider flight. I asked for "the fruitest shit you have" and we got a nice spread of different and interesting things including a lavender cider. All of the staff were super nice and friendly. Absolutely loved this place and wish it was closer to home for me! Excellent little shop with the most amazing apple cider donuts you will ever taste. One of the owners, Sarah, did a wine tasting for me and was extremely friendly and provided some great background on the various wines. The wines were really good and they had a good variety of sweet and dry options. There's a nice cozy wood burning fireplace with couches to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the winter months. For those who want to be more active, there is snowshoeing available with snowshoes for rent while you're there. Didn't try that but maybe next year :) read more

Another fun visit! Mom is here from out of state so I took her here. This place has the best homemade apple or cherry pies, best cider donuts in several flavors and the best staff!! We find this to be a fun place to bring visiting friends and family. The orchard also has a store and bar. They usually have fresh cider donuts, various jars of pickles, jellies, popcorn - all from local sources. The bar area is fun with a big fireplace for colder days. Welcoming Orchards! The grounds are pleasant to walk through and there were plenty of apples to pick in late August though I don't think they were quite ripe yet. The property backs several hiking trails which makes it a great end point after getting in a ton of steps for the day. We shared a couple apple cider doughnuts and their signature Johnny Mash cider that was on tap. Doughnuts were soft, sugary and hit the spot for us as we recently arrived hungry after a long drive up. Cider was on the sweet side, yet still pleasantly sessionable. Atmosphere was very welcoming. Visiting H O was one of the true highlights of our vacation in the Berkshire's. The hard cider flight that we tried (my favorite was the coconut lime we bought a few 4 packs), was great, the sommeliers were very friendly and answered all of our questions about the ciders, and wines. My super favorite wine was a desert wine called Sweet Red Blend (bought some of that too) Theres a little saying" make new friends, keep the old, one is silver, the other gold", Sarah, one of the owners, was so friendly , warm, and welcoming, it was like getting together with a old friend that you have not seen for a long time, and have missed, she's a kindred spirit, and super awesome. The orchard sells pies, and incredible apple cider donuts. If you buy only a half dozen you'll regret it because you will soon be craving more, because they are scrumptious. Walking through the wonderful orchard, abundant with eight different kinds of apples ready for picking, we had a wonderful freeing experience that we all enjoyed so much. Such a gem of a place! We stopped by on our way back home to MA from Upstate NY. It was a little out of the way, but we'd heard great things and needed some last minute Christmas gifts. We brought the pooch and we were able to get a nice walk in, get some donuts for the road, and do a tasting. We did cider and wine for the tasting and we weren't disappointed at all. We wound up purchasing 3 of the ciders and 3 bottles of wine...plus other goodies! Service was super friendly and patient. And the ambience of the tasting room is just perfect with the bar on one side and cozy chairs and the fireplace on the other side. A beautiful temperature outside made us not to miss to enjoy the weather. The first thing we thought was going to the closest orchard where we were staying. This place offers the best cider and cider donut in the area. Definitely worth trying , was not disappointed of it that made us want to come back on Apple season to enjoy further what it offers. Make this your main stop in the Berkshires! We popped in about an hour before they closed without a reservation, expecting to be turned away but oh the contrary! Sara greeted us with the warmest welcome, she truly is such a light. We were visiting the Berkshires from CA, and felt right at home in seconds. We joined in on a tasting she was hosting and tried a glass of Apfelkorn apple wine, safe to say I met my match. Ordering as many bottles as I can before the holidays. We hadn't even tried their apple cider donuts yet, I was already in heaven and those sent me over! The grounds are beautiful, the people are beautiful, the cider and wine are beautiful. It was really nice to come back to this spot that was a favorite from a girls weekend back in 2014 when we did snow shoeing. The apple cider donuts were warm and melted in your mouth, at only $1 each it was a perfect treat! They had a really nice wine and cider tasting where you can pick 6 items from a list. They have reds,whites, and desserts. Our group enjoyed hearing about the different items and ended up leaving with a few bottles of the ones we liked best. This place has the furnace winery in the back. It is a hidden gem. Sara is the vintners wife. During your tasting she will tell you about all of the stories behind the wines the have. Wow amazing cider donuts! We were very impressed with the donuts. Super fresh as they seemed to have been churning them out on a Saturday. There is limited outdoor seating although it's nice they have some shaded picnic tables. I initially found this place by searching for wineries so was expecting a bit more in terms of wine and winery ambience. It's basically a donut / cider shop selling some wine and cider at a bar in the back. Atmosphere definitely lacking so I didn't try any of the wines or ciders. Great spot for enjoying the outdoors and apple orchards. Cider is great. Donuts are good. The country store has some cool stuff. We spent 3 hours here and had a great time. The adult cider is delicious, not overly sweet; but the wine... hate to say it's not so great. I'm not joking, or consider myself a wine snob, but my god lol. If we poured a bottle in the gas tank of the truck we would have been flying on the way home "it tastes like high octane gasoline". My husband and I decided on Hilltop Orchards for snowshoeing. It was our first time snowshoeing and we were looking for a place that had both trails and rentals. We settled on Hilltop because they are dog friendly and we wanted to bring our pup out with us. David at Hilltop was super nice and laid back. He helped us to size shoes and gave us a quick rundown of what to expect. We were off with the pup for a winter hike around their orchard and also went down a couple trails they have. The views were super pretty from the orchard area, and the trails were well marked and maintained. Once we returned, we grabbed some cider and donuts for the road. We definitely want to return- what a fantastic location! I highly recommend Hilltop for a great place to try snowshoeing that's low pressure (and donuts, cider, and wine). We came here on Labor Day and had a great time! First, the weather was beautiful for apple-picking. All members of the staff were very friendly and kind. The grounds were beautiful and there were plenty of nice-looking apples to pick. We also got a good workout with all the walking. After picking apples, we sat down for delicious warm apple cider donuts and wine. I highly recommend the Cabernet Sauvignon. Also, if you plan to sit outside, you should bring Off! spray to keep away the bees. Luckily, I had some and the bugs eventually buzzed off. There is a small, enclosed outdoor patio available, but it may fill up quickly. Oh and there was plenty of hand sanitizer available and the bathroom was nice and clean. What can I say about this place? My wife and I stopped her on our first night in the Berkshires. The owner, Sara?, was giving tastings, and we were treated to some of their wines and ciders. The ambience was, for lack of a better description, relaxed yet bustling. There was a fire in the fireplace and quite a few people there just enjoying themselves. We ended up leaving with some great finds that we'd never seen before (Apfelkorn, Ice wine, etc...). This was our favorite winery in the area.
