Fun destination. We headed down the road to a different winery but ended up hanging out here. The tasting room and cider donuts were a nice surprise meandering the Berkshires byways. The apple orchard was lovely to look at too. We tried a tasting flight of wines and had a friendly conversation with Michael. Many of the grape varietals were unknown to me. As a wine enthusiast it was challenging to appreciate the fruit styles. Also tasted ciders and thought many of the ciders were on the bone dry & tart. All in all, it was fun and educational. The gift shop has lots of jams, fresh pies and many other items, plus the best ever cider donuts! Donuts alone are worth the trip!! I would absolutely love to give 5 stars here. Everything was great even on a rainy day with covid being a factor they still knew how to make it comfortable and fun. Coming from NYC I was looking for a quaint little winery for some tastings. Although they cannot pour tasting for you due to the recent conditions, they offer small sample bottles for you to create your own tasting. The man behind the counter was SO knowledgeable & helpful on everything in the store I wish I got his name. Also, I do love to have a selection of cheese & crackers with my tasting which was limited here so if you want a sort of charcuterie set up, you should ask if you can bring your own. Free wine tasting? You don't have to say that twice. We were only able to taste seven out of their usual sixteen offerings as they had sold out of the others, but it was well worth the $5/each price tag (the first sample is free, you can sample the rest for $5). Our host, Carol (I believe her name was) was friendly, funny and accommodating, even as we had our 3 year old periodically interrupting. She shared poignant anecdotes as we sampled our wines on a long varnished wooden bar surrounded by wine barrels*. She was very knowledgable and somehow convinced the hubby to sample all the wines, even though he is not a drinker; and she didn't flinch a bit when three parties came in to partake of the wine tasting as we were finishing up ours. With most bottles under $20, the wines are reasonably priced. We opted for the Riesling, the Old Vine Zinfandel and the French Cidre. They also had pies and preserves available. Maria, the employee who rang up our order, was also very friendly (hmm, maybe it has something to do with her name...?). I would make it a point to stop by again when planning a trip near this area, it was a little too cold this time around to walk through the orchard. I was informed that there are other family activities to be enjoyed at different times of the year. So for now, I will settle for a delivery of their award winning Muscato and Apple Ice Wine, when it becomes available later this month. NOTE: If you're coming from the NY side, it is about a mile from the NY-MA border/sign; our GPS had us looking for it a little after the border which was inaccurate. David and Jose were amazing. Jose made some deliciously fresh apple cider donuts while David let us sample the wines and explaining their history. They have a variety of wines and ciders for the dry drinkers and sweet drinkers; something for everyone. All the wines have delicious flavor notes and on the nose hmmmm tempting. I went home with half a case of wine and some ciders, a dozen donuts and some glasses to enjoy them out of. They have grest customer service and really enjoy their jobs. Had their been snow on the ground we would have gone skiing or snowshoeing but wine tasting made up for it! read more

I love this place. Start with the Johnny Mash cider. It is not like those sweet ciders that taste like a kids drink. This is a flavorful cider with subtle flavors. It has become my absolute favorite cider. Once you get beyond that, you will find a lovely orchard. In season, their peaches are among the best I have ever had. Not quite Georgia. But, much better than I get in the Berkshire Farmers Market. Apples are also wonderful. Today, I had the apple cider popsicle. Yum. Never thought of making popsicles out of cider. We have come to a number of special events here and really like it. read more

Beautiful little winery right in (or at least by) the berkshires. $5 for a tasting of six wines. I liked the blanc de blanc best and bought a bottle ($17.99) to enjoy in the vineyard. There is a nice area of outdoor seating but I opted for the orchards so my two year old could run around. So yes I brought my toddler to her first vineyard, and thanks to the staff here it wasn't a disaster and actually a lovely experience. While my husband and I were tasting wine our two year old was visibly getting antsy (duh) and as I was getting ready to ditch this experience the staff brought out a bucket of toys (including a fire truck that she favorited) to save the day. She played by us in their comfortable seating area while we finished the tasting and choose our favorites. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The homemade donuts were as good (if not better) then the wine. Crispy and indulgent and totally worth the calories. (I saw some people come in just for the donuts.) I visited in the summer and would love to check out the scene here in the fall. read more

Sorry I am sure this is a great winery but our visit didn't not meet our expectations. We had to buy little bottles for the tasting and then we had to fend for ourselves to find a seat outside in the frigid temperatures. There is plenty of room in their space to accommodate guests they just don't provide. I can't recommend this place because I believe the experience is what makes the wine experience!!! read more

Definitely not the best wine tasting I've had. They were very disorganized, but hey if you mess up that means more wine tasting for me. It was 5 for $5 and one free tasting. The wine was okay - definitely had much much better wine in Long Island. The apple cider doughnuts were absolutely delicious! And the place was in a pretty location with mountains and trees- but it must be said that the place was swarming with a fly infestation: that's when you know it's fresh but I could hardly sit inside or even go to the bathroom without feeling covered in flies. Definitely not worth a second trip, but loved the doughnuts and the price for the tasting none the less :) read more

We visited Furnace Brook winery as a day of checking out stops along the Hudson-Berkshire beverage trail. The winery is located inside of an orchard and there were lots of family-friendly activities (apple picking, hayrides), as well as delicious food options (apple cider donuts, homemade pies). The winery itself is located in the rear of the shop and offers a rustic feel with a cozy fireplace. We did the tasting (choose 6 wines for $5). They also had a few flavors of ciders you could try with your tasting. Our group had mixed reviews overall on the wine but agreed the experience was good because of the friendliness of the servers. Today we enjoyed a delightful Sunday afternoon wine tasting with Sara. Six samples became 8 or more as we chatted. Sara's enthusiasm, knowledge of the wines, and excellent recipe ideas were as delightful as the wines themselves! Stopped by on a Thursday afternoon and they seemed a bit disorganized. They were out of new tasting sheets and she was using ones that were marked up. The woman giving our tasting also seemed a bit harried. She was having a hard time finding some of the wines we had chosen to sample and was blaming it on there being two people behind the counter. I would think on a busy fall weekend when the apples are ready to be picked would be slammed. How does she handle it then? Anyway, you get to try one sample for free and an additional five for $5. If you like heavy, full-bodied reds, keep driving. Their Cabernet and Merlot tastes more like a light-bodied Pinot. The Syrah wasn't bad. Many of their whites tend toward sweet. Tours were not offered when we were there. I think it would be better to visit here in the fall to take advantage of the orchard and the foliage. read more

We visited this winery because the Inn we stayed at owns it and offered free tastings. I am not a huge Northeastern US wine person, I often find them too sweet. This winery however also has an orchard so they also make apple cider and apple spirits. The woman that did our tasting was one of the most enthusiastic happy people I have ever met. If you are in the area you definitely should stop by and don't forget to tray the amazing apple cider donuts. read more

Quintessential fall store. We saw pamphlets about the winery and wanted to take a look. They have a lot of cute products. The service is incredibly slow. We waited a good 15 minutes and were about to leave before they decided to start our wine tasting. The portions are tiny. I've been other wineries and they do free tastings so much better. I don't think the woman really knew much about the wines and they didn't even rinse out the glass or offer water between wine servings. I would have liked to have learned a bit more about each wine. We ended up buying a few bottles as the prices were great but if you don't have much time then this may not be the place for you. It's also very out of the way and a bit tricky to fine without a sign. read more

We stumbled upon this lovely orchard and winery courtesy of the Berkshires Discovery Map (not to scale) while on a weekend bachelorette getaway. When we entered the tasting room we were greeted with complex aromas of fire (from the comforting fireplace) and apples. We stopped here after visiting Naumkeag and walking around Lenox. It's a nice setting in an orchard. The first tasting(sip) is free and the next five are $5.00. You can't go wrong for the price but the tasting is just a sip. I found the wine to be on par with other local wineries we have visited. You don't get to keep the glass at this winery. We came here for my 30th birthday and were given a cheese plate and a private tasting. The wines were good, some delish and some not up my alley (as to be expected). Everyone was nice and accommodating. My only gripes would be: swarming with fruit flies indoors, the live music was not playing as we expected it would be, and the winery was only open for ~3 hours on Saturday so because we came around 3:20 we were't there 2 hours before close. read more

Very personable place. Good value for the tasting. Wine is a very subjective item. I liked some didn't like others. We did leave with 3 bottles inluding the port. It was the first time we were ever offered port at a tasting. Beautiful piece of property. Actually gave us a dinner recommendation that turned out pretty good. After seeing their colorful brochure, we went for a tasting at this winery. It was VERY small and crowded, about 8 people doing tastings when we were there. The servers mumbled the name of the wine as they poured and offered no description or paring information. The wines were blah, nothing special. We wanted to have a glass of wine in front of the fireplace, but there wasn't really a wine we wanted an entire glass of. Won't go back. read more

Highly recommend visiting! We came to this orchard during our stay in the Berkshires. The wine is absolutely delicious and the tasting was perfectly priced at 5$ for six different wines. The staff was so friendly and told us exactly where to go to see beautiful views of the orchards. We needed up buying our own wine and treats for our dogs. It was an awesome experience!!
