Visited over the summer and loved this cozy spot! They had live music and amazing food. The drink selection was great and staff was super friendly. We loved sitting outside and enjoying the weather. Great find in a small town!

Root beer and a flight

It was a little too cold to sit out by the fire tonight so we were looking for something to do. My wife found some live music over at this brewery only a few minutes away. We must've got there at the busiest time because it was packed. It didn't take us long before we were able to get a seat at the bar even with it being packed. It's a pretty cool place and the bar tenders were really cool. My only qualm is when it is packed like that the music is impossible to hear. So if you are coming just for that it's a little rough. Once it started clearing out I could hear it clearly. I don't think the band area was really a designated performance space. They were just kind of set up on one end of the bar by some tables. Anyway it was fun and we didn't try the food but it smelled good.

Gem salad and the mushroom pizza- yummy!

What a gem! Hillsdale is an absolute must visit town just off the taconic parkway in NY. Great little shops and the people are friendly and welcoming. And that's just the warmup act friends. Roe Jan brewery has it all. Great local beers, welcoming and comfortable space ( both indoor and outdoor), tasty food and live music. The menu is full of temptations- cauliflower crust pizzas, fresh and creative salads, with burgers and bratwursts, to name a few. This place is simply fun. I can't wait to return. Enjoy!

We came here for dinner after hiking and spending the day in the area. We live in the city and did an overnight trip upstate. When we walked in, it felt like we were in one of those Christmas hallmark movies, the place was super cute and festive and had a homey feel. You seat yourself and order at the bar. We got a pizza and burger, both were gluten free which was great as my partner often times finds it hard to get things gluten free. Both items were delicious, the burger was exactly what my partner was craving. The drink we got was great as well, everything was great and it really exceeded our expectations! Everyone was also very friendly! Would def recommend and come here again if we're ever in the area!

This is a great spot to come visit after a nice day of skiing at Catamount. It's a big restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant reminds me of a wooden cabin inside. Looks newly renovated and has the bar as the center of the main floor. Instead of table service, you were seated with a menu and can order at the bar with your drinks and food. You get a buzzer for the food and once ready, your buzzer lights up and you pick up the food at the food counter. I like the concept and it's actually run efficiently. Nice brewery with many selections of beer. We tried a flight to taste their saison (too light for saison), brown (solid), porter(not bad), and ESB(ok) then added 2 more 5 oz tasting of the cider (very dry as its advertised, not for me) and sour (not sour enough, need more punch to the flavor). Our fav was the Brown. Everything else wasn't bad, but they weren't great. We ordered a basket of fries, beer brats with onion rings, and mushroom cauliflower flatbread. Hubby said the onion rings were some of the best ones he tasted. I enjoyed the cauliflower flatbread and the kids devoured the fries. We also got a chocolate cake as dessert for sharing. The homemade whipped cream was very good with the cake. Even though they don't have servers, they do have a very good bust boy! Our empties were cleaned from our table very quickly. I was a bit shocked when I got the check that they charged $5 for a 5 oz pour cider! So buyer beware! I would say go with the brown (cozy flannel) pint for $8 instead! Everything else was good, so we'll definitely be returning after skiing!

Roe Jan Brewing is a great spot to grab a pint and a bite to eat! Beautiful location with a well designed interior- the place is just gorgeous! We sat at the bar and got the Emma and the cozy flannel beer. The Emma is a sour with lavender notes and blackberry. Despite being a sour, it was extremely easy to drink and not as tart as I usually expect from a sour(so much better honestly!) We also got an order of the disco fries- poutine with a hearty gravy and cheese. Huge portion and perfectly cooked. Great spot all around.

Do you have gluten free options?

Yes, we have quite a few! Several of our apps are wheat-free, there are wheat-free bun options for our sandwiches, our flatbreads have a wheat-free crust, and at least one of our dessert options is wheat-free as well. Cheers!

The soft pretzel, made fr spent brewer's grain was really good! The cheddar ale soup was a bit disappointing. It delivered on the ale, but the soup was thin and had a kind of gritty texture. Not the creamy texture you'd expect in a cheese soup. My wife got the brisket sandwich with fries. It was odd. Normally brisket is served sliced which accentuates the tenderness, but this was pulled, like pulled pork. The flavor was okay. I had the chicken pot pie which was okay. I wouldn't order it again. We didn't like the service at all. The staff wasn't really welcoming at all. When I went to the bar to pay for a four pack of brown ale, I waited probably five minutes before anyone paid attention to me. Two servers and the bartender all basically ignored me, and the bar wasn't busy. The bartender was engaged in small talk with other patrons. The highlights were the beer and the chocolate stout cake, which we took home. The beer is excellent. I had a brown ale and a stout. The chocolate stout cake with chocolate ganache is really good! In the end, the other reviews I saw were pretty accurate. Beer - great! Food - meh. Service - not good.

We took advantage of the beautiful day and enjoyed the patio, it's a really nice space inside and out. The service was great from start to finish and felt very welcomed by the staff. Of course I opted for a flight, it is a brewery after all. I chose a selection of IPAs and enjoyed them all. The first time I came here was for a yelp event and we got to try all the burgers, they were amazing! My friend ordered a burger and it looked amazing, she enjoyed it. The fries were also house made and very well done, I snagged a few. I was craving wings and I had a feeling they would have great ones, and they did. They were perfectly tender and moist with a great crisp, the medium sauce was spot on, even the blue cheese was great. I was intrigued by the fried asparagus so I ordered that too, they were huge! The tempura batter was so light and crispy, the asparagus was cooked nicely inside and was still a bit crisp and the sauces were perfect, both went so good with the dish. These also reheated super well when I brought them home as left overs. This is a perfect place to stop when you're in Chatham. Beer, food and service is top notch.

Much smaller portions AND raised prices. You can do one or the other, not both. Service was mediocre and all three of us left hungry. Took over two hours just to get food and drinks to our table. I'm sad about it because it was amazing the first time. We brought a friend after hyping the place up and it was a total letdown.

Beautiful architecture, dating back hundreds of years. We were impressed by the People's Pub. Pool and darts on the second floor, and bar and dining area on the first. We spent a good amount of time admiring the wood work around the bar and restaurant, as well as the tin ceilings. We ordered more food that we probably should have, but it all sounded so good, that with the winter menu coming to a close, we knew we would likely not have a chance to order it again. We chose to sit at the bar, and enjoyed a whiskey and pisco sours, made with actual eggs. The open kitchen is a nice touch, and it was nice to see the well staffed restaurant handle the Friday night dinner crowd. Portions for most dishes were a generous size, and we enjoyed the variety of choices. We can't wait to come back to try the spring menu, or to come on one of the special nights, such as the live Irish music.
