Cute little pub on Main Street. Nice selection of cocktails, beers and American food. The bartender was very friendly and chatted with me for awhile. But it was also dead quiet at 4pm on a Saturday, which was ok by me. I had a tuna dish for dinner (see photos) that was pretty tasty. This is my first time to Chatham, which is a bit of a drive from Albany, and I loved the town. The weather was perfect, the trees were blooming, and the town was full of lively people. Beautiful architecture, dating back hundreds of years. We were impressed by the People's Pub. Pool and darts on the second floor, and bar and dining area on the first. We spent a good amount of time admiring the wood work around the bar and restaurant, as well as the tin ceilings. We ordered more food that we probably should have, but it all sounded so good, that with the winter menu coming to a close, we knew we would likely not have a chance to order it again. We chose to sit at the bar, and enjoyed a whiskey and pisco sours, made with actual eggs. The open kitchen is a nice touch, and it was nice to see the well staffed restaurant handle the Friday night dinner crowd. Portions for most dishes were a generous size, and we enjoyed the variety of choices. We can't wait to come back to try the spring menu, or to come on one of the special nights, such as the live Irish music. read more

My husband and I had a lovely dinner here. We ate at the bar, the service was wonderful and we decided to just order (almost) all of the starters. Everything was super tasty. I think the Wings, in the bourbon buffalo sauce, were my favorite. Next time I would definitely order them extra crispy though. The flavors with both the Coconut Shrimp and the Crab Cakes were fantastic, and I really enjoyed the sauces that came with the fries! We also loved the Chocolate Mousse. Even though neither of us really had the room to eat anymore, I'm glad we got it. And then to top it all off, our drinks, the Pisco Sour and the Whiskey Sour, were a nice compliment to the meal. I look forward to coming back and trying their Spring menu, which they told us would be coming out soon. I also look forward to hopefully coming back for their Live Irish Music night and maybe some of their other special event evenings. read more

It was our first visit on September 9 2025, finding all other restaurants closed. It was worth the trip. We were told by the waiter that the new owners took over just a month ago. The creative menu isn't expansive but the quality of it, offering something for everyone is rewarding. This is a scratch kitchen. Watching the chef work in the open kitchen impressed me by her attention to detail. Falafel sandwiches were excellent, with on site made pickled onions. They have 16 beers on tap. The place filled up after 5. Prices were excellent. Place is clean. Staff worked together. We'll probably make the drive here if we find ourselves in the Berkshires, it was worth it. read more

Yet another spectacular night at the pub. This is THE spot to be on Main St at any given day. The Pub easily has the best bartenders in upstate new york. Brian, Laney, and Shane are outstanding and unmatchable bartenders. They are attentative, personable, and all possess a great sense of humor to make you feel a warm welcome. The food never dissapoints. I have a regular order, but tend to switch it up on occasion as to try new things. The cooks are fantastic and the meals/appatisers are flawless. Full of flavor and served with excellent presentation. I would also like to mention, the pool table upstairs is a great time and a fun peice to the pub! As we approach the cold winter, I advise you to become a regular at the pub. As a former Chef, I've come to expect a continuity from restaurants I return to and recommend. My Wife and I recently returned to The People's Pub after a hiatus. Suffice it to say our experience was disappointing. The place was empty and the bartender had the good grace to seat us immediately +. He did not know which vodka's he had on hand -. He mis-ordered one of our appetizers -x2, however it was struck from the bill +x2. The kitchen did not follow the course line and our apps were served with our entrees -x3. Though some of the food was tasty and the line had all the ingredients correct, the execution was poor -x4 My falafel had the tzatziki lobbed on top of it in a mound with barely any discernible yoghurt -x5. The entree was not hot -x6, though that may have been because I had to eat my appetizer while my entree sat (not under a heat lamp and again; not coursed)-x7. Inconsistent slices of pickled onion - and a second app I cannot even recall -x8. To top it off, my fries (though warm) were in essence crumbs; giving me the suggestion of a fry, not the long, hot fluffy yet crispy fry I've come to expect from the peoples pub- x9. My Spouse thought her meal lackluster as well... Our bartender gawked -x10 at my spouse and handed her straws with a naked hand -x11. This was not what I've come to expect from the people's pub. I've had better service and certainly better food there before. We'll be taking another hiatus. read more

The food from the people's pub lives in my mind rent free. I just found myself cooking dinner and thinking about their Brussels sprouts which are unbelievable, and knew I had to make this review. I spent a few months in the area and visited often. Everything is delicious and fresh - I love being able to watch the food prep! It's clearly a family run joint which is really refreshing as well. You really can't go wrong with any options but try their specials! I had a fall squash lasagna years ago that I still try (and fail) at recreating, it was just SO good! read more

Great service and a beautiful atmosphere. The waitstaff, bartender and general staff and clientele are all very personable and cool. The hostess was very nice and sat us at a table on a very seemingly busy night. Kudos. Being a small kitchen they have their overwhelming nights where everyone is taxed to the max and service and attention may dwindle slightly. But that's small town life for you, don't be such a dick. What an awesome atmosphere and experience. Worth the 8 minute wait until they opened for the evening. Me and my friends sat in the back by the open kitchen. We were able to speak to everyone including Gabriel the chef, until the place started to fill up. A small menu but enough to wet your appetite. Two of us decided on the burger with aged cheddar, tomato, lettuce, homemade pickle, ketchup w confit fries OMG and we made it a ROYALE which added bacon, garlic aioli and crispy shallots. So big and so good and cooked to order. The confit fries by the way wasnt on the burger but on the side. During our meal time we noticed the serving area the delicious chicken wings and had to try them as well so my friend actually ordered them "coconut peanut with sesame and cilantro" yes Asian style. They were awesome. Yes the burger was great but these wings were incredible, crispy and meaty with great different flavor. It may have taken we a while to get here but so glad I finally did. The service was good and enjoyed getting our bill in the renaissance Italy book. read more

Honestly, don't waste your time or money unless you like poor service, drinks, and food. We had the devils on horseback as an app which were dates wrapped in bacon and stuffed with blue cheese...the only good item. The main course was a bacon ranch chicken sandwich, which consisted of a couple pieces of burnt bacon, shredded cheese mixed with ranch dressing and the best part was the extra thin sliced over cooked chicken tender. Food is amazing and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and you can tell that they really enjoy working at this hometown favorite. We have enjoyed meals and met people here That are delightful. Our favorite activity is the $1 oysters offered on the second Thursday of each month beginning at 5 pm. Get there early. Really good food, just not quite great. We liked the calamari and the Vietnamese beef salad. We also ordered steak au poivre, done rare, which was tasty, and came *very* rare. The kitchen seemed to have some coordination issues and watching and listening (we were seated right at the kitchen exit), I felt like the steak had been missed and then rushed as our other dish sat under the warming light. When a successful restauranteur opens a place, they usually strive to create the perfect combination of warm decor, delicious food and welcoming atmosphere. While driving to the Adirondacks, we found that place. We stopped in Chatham to eat and refuel. The People's Pub was the perfect place to rest and refuel. The dining area is open concept, decorated in turn of the (twentieth) century tin ceiling and hanging Edison bulbs; the tables were covered in white porcelain tiles. The kitchen was a part of the dining room, yet unobtrusive. The beer list was eclectic and deserving of multiple selections. The menu was less diverse than the beer selection but what they offered was executed well and with interesting twists. We ordered simple dishes...chicken sandwich with garlic aioli and burgers. Everything was amazing. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. Our server was as good as the food and decor. You really cannot go wrong by stopping in for a nice dinner and a few beers. A really great experience last Friday night. Am new to the area and am trying out all of the local spots, looking for ones that feel like "home" to me. Friend came to town for a visit - she's recovering from knee surgery and is vegan. I called ahead of time to ensure we could get a table she could handle with her crutches (we were told to be careful of the rugs at the front door, and they confirmed no steps to get in), and to make sure they had some things she could eat. Bridget took care of everything. Had the perfect table waiting for us. Talked to us about items on the menu (e.g. green goddess has yogurt, other salad dressing has honey) to ensure my friend didn't get anything she wouldn't eat. I had streak frites (because my friend does not care if I eat meat in front of her), which were delicious and cooked perfectly. When leaving, I went out to pull the car around, and Billy walked my friend to the door, opening the heavy doors for her so she could get safely to the car. An excellent upscale pub. Food is creative and tasty. A wide range of specials that offer good variety for the adventurous and not so adventurous. Would be 3.5 Broccoli soup is clean, but it's texture is a turnoff. Hand chopped without the support. Needs something extra to give us a "mmmmm" reaction. Winter salad is great for 2. perfect healthy decadence! Chocolate gluten-free cake was fine. I think having a drizzle of caramel or fudge would be more fun with tastes than powdered sugar on the plate for presentation sake. They refuse to check vaccination status at entry.
