Say you're poking around in Western, MA, maybe shopping at the Lee Outlets or exploring the stores in downtown Lee or Great Barrington. Here's the perfect way to make those enjoyable days even better. Why not include a stop at the Big Elm Brewery to your day? Its in nearby Sheffield, MA. Their Taproom is open with limited seating, and of course masks and social distancing are observed. Under COVID-19 state guidelines, you'll have to buy some sort of food item to drink there, but no worries - you can get hummus and carrots, an apple, or cheese and crackers for a buck or two. What I liked a lot about their beer selection is that they were not overly dependent on any single style. They went across the beer spectrum with a lager, an ale, an IPA, a DIPA, a stout, a pilsner, a NEIPA, and some hard seltzers. Truly something for everybody! I'm not a fan of the IPA family, so I sipped on an American Lager -it was light and very drinkable. My wife went for a glass of their Lavender Lemonade Hard Seltzer -I mooched a sip and liked it too. We found a table under one of the trees, marveled at their arrays of solar panels that power the brewery, drank our beverages and had a totally enjoyable time. And the packaged hummus and carrot snack was good too !

Going home We stopped by for a very quick taste and buy. For our first time it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. Our server was awesome...great pours. Thx All the tastes were very good and true to taste. Going home to California I will miss Mass-eee beer. "Life can't get any better" That's my BF... I'm blessed

Superb local brewery in the Bosom of the Berkshires, right off of Route 7 Their local beers are being seen in a wider radius and it will only be a matter of time before more and more folks are able to appreciate the vast and fine collection of Lager, Ale's, Session / IPA's and Stouts. Dog and family friendly, large bright open space with plenty of hi top seating. Keep watching as they branch out and thrive.

    Shiny!

Didn't get a chance to go on the brewery tour, just in for a quick tasting. And four samples for five bucks is a hell of a deal. Sure, the samples are well... sample sized. But did I mention the fact that it was five bucks? Tastes are obviously subjective, and I was really looking forward to the blueberry sour, but it wasn't very sour. The double IPA was my favorite, while the lager and stout were fine, but nothing to write home about. Nice staff, cute little place, and I bet the tour is fun.

    Interior counter. Nice people here.

Great beer selections. Dog friendly too. So easy to find with a sign off the road. Loads of parking.

    Delicious flight ... trust me!

Great brewery and staff. Flights were only $5 And the beer is delicious. I'd suggest the American ale, sofa king, pilsner and fat boy. Pretzels are delicious and they'll let you order delivery. A must try if in the area.

Out of the 82 breweries Ive been to, Big Elm is the only one I come back to again and again to stock up on case loads.

Probably the highlight of our trip to the Catskills. Everyone was so friendly and we loved the…read more"Hate Had No Place Here" sign. So come as your are! The beer is flavorful and I recommend "hooking up" your Brookie. Think Michelada, but with more citrus. They have a set menu for snacks so not really a place for a full meal. However, check the website as they seem to have rotating food vendors. We had the vegan nachos with Indian flavors which was amazing. It's a small space but that adds to the charm! Lots of outside seating, hunter lounge feels, and friendly staff with their mascot cat.

We arrived about 2 hours after opening on a Saturday afternoon in August and it was pretty packed. Since we had the dogs with us so we searched for a shady spot on a sunny afternoon so that they would be comfortable. Luckily we found one! The beer was good. We really enjoyed the Catch & Release, Mountain Life and the Dutchie. The basil in the Dutchie was really refreshing! We purchased Mountain Life and Dutchie in cans. The food was definitely not the highlight. They told us they were very behind and that the pizza would take an hour or more. They also wouldn't take our order initially because they had no buzzers left. We came back two times to see if any buzzers had come back. We ended up ordering the smash burger, the chicken sando, and fries. This order took about 20-25 mins. The Smash burger had a nice caramelization. The chicken sando was tasty, but not worth the wait. We will be back!

Eric is the brew master and was working this day serving these fabulous beers that are worth a stop to this place. They also have another location down the road at their farm. That would be cool to visit another time. This place and the bathrooms are super clean, bright. There is plenty of seating to allow you to spread out. Each table has games so if you just want to enjoy a beer and play games you can. I played the BeerIQ game and I learned a few things about beer and now I want to buy the game for home. Beer: I had a sample of brown ale and the imperial stout. Both were incredible. It is hard to get a good brown ale and Eric nailed it! I ordered a brown ale since I was driving and the alcohol content was lower. I tasted the Imperial stout and wow delicious. One of the regulars was raving about the imperial stout and he was so right! Some days they offer food, but we came on Saturday where the kitchen was closed. Eric was kind enough to allow us to get outside food so we could continue to enjoy his brews. Everyone here is friendly. Highly recommend to come. Even if you are not near by, these brews are worth the drive.
